What can I say about this one..
The book features a hyper focused and committed athlete who forgoes everything else in his life in order to achieve professional acclaim, and a hardworking, sweet, career driven woman.
Those two meet again after 9 years (it’s not necessarily a second chance romance because the first time around they weren’t really in love or anything like that) and they have to work together on a project. From there onwards, we have them developing feelings and connecting with each other on a deeper level.. a few bumps in the road later, we have a HEA.
It was simple, short, sweet and hopeful..
This wasn’t a great love story full of angst and drama, but it was good for what it was.
What can I say about this one..

Wow, this book snuck up on me and I loved it so much! Molly and Noah have a past together, one that both of them are embarrassed and ashamed of. Now, Molly works for a football team that her older brother coaches for and her new boss puts her in charge of the new Netflix documentary they are doing that focuses on the team's newest player. Molly has to prove she has her job because of her talent, not because of her brother. Little does Molly know, that new player is Noah, the guy from her past. I loved how Noah and Molly had to spend time together and Noah stopped being this mindless machine that lived and breathed football. Molly brought out a softer side from him and I just loved how much he opened up to her. Molly signed a non-fraternization contract, though, so she can't do anything about the attraction she feels brewing between her and Noah. I loved the angst and heartbreak in this book so much! Also, Molly's sisters and older brother were so special and I loved all of the moments between them as well. I don't know what it was about this book, but I ended up just devouring this story and loved it so much!

Molly and Noah had a quick, hot, and nearly illegal start which led to them not being the best of friends, and both of them making changes in the way they live. Years later they meet back up, because of their jobs and although they agree to avoid each other and or be civil, that doesn’t quite work out as planned. They are forced together for a special project and let’s just say the lite forced proximity makes this story quite interesting. The sassy, strong, sweet, and hard-working heroine and the moody, broody, grump grump hero. Sounds like the perfect pairing, right?
It was so sweet reading these two fall in love. It’s subtle, sweet, and tense. Once they hit go, they really go. Not only were Molly and Noah so fun to read, but all the side characters really were amazing. Karla really does a fantastic job making the subplots and the surrounding story interesting, without the main characters losing their spotlight. Molly’s relationship with her family was amazing. Mrs. Sorensen really has something special with the bond she’s built between these sisters. The banter. The emotional baggage they have and how they all handle it differently. So good.
Seeing the characters from the original Washington Wolves series was so fun too. You’re in the same fun world, but you’re a little to the left, hanging with the next generation of characters and I love how the author bridged that small gap without making the original series the highlight.
Focused is just an all around a great read, and by the end you’ll have a smile on your face and will already be ready to harass Mrs. Sorensen for more of the Ward sisters!

Molly works for the Washington Wolves and takes on a special project with their newest player who happens to be someone she knows… Noah Griffin. Noah and Molly were neighbors when they were younger and it didn’t go well. They have an interesting past.
When Noah and Molly start working together there’s a spark between them they can’t deny. Even though it’s forbidden, they can’t hide their feelings.
I enjoyed this book, but there was just something missing. It was a little slow at times, and I didn’t feel the connection as strongly as I wanted to. Still, I’m looking forward to reading more of the Ward Sisters series (as well as their brother Logan’s story)!

this was lowkey.. a little boring?
the pacing and development felt very weird/forced. because one second u have him not wanting to be w her at all and then the next he’s in love? me: didn’t buy it. no sir.
i wasn’t the biggest fan of the whole reason they don’t get along plot point either. don’t wanna spoil it but.. why?
i did love ALLL OF THE WARD SISTERS + logan and paige!!!!! i’m gonna continue this series because i need the rest of their books. and i feel like i’m gonna absolutely eat those up.

At 16 Molly was Noah's next door neighbor and did everything to catch his interest, until one night she snuck into his room and they made out. His dad caught them and escorted her back home ad shortly after they moved away.
*side note- this happened in the marriage effect which was her brother's book and I'm still bothered by how cool she was with this scene. He could've been charged with rape because she was 16 and he didn't know! He could've lost his scholarship and his entire career before it even started! I wanted her to apologize when they met again but she NEVER did.
Fast forward 10 years Molly is offered an opportunity by her new boss to be liason between Amazon and the wolves player they're making a documentary on.....none other than Noah who is no fan of Molly's.....add in a no dating and morality clause in her new contract and it's a recipe for disaster

1)Now this plot isn't unique, from the moment I saw the clause in the contract I had a fair idea of how things would progress and I was right..... It was still pretty enjoyable however.
2)Noah is nicknamed the machine because football is his life, he doesn't date or have friends as he's dedicated to his game but Molly slowly gets him to actually start enjoying other things beside football. I enjoyed seeing Noah come out of his shell, the fact that he's completely dedicated to the game and had been celibate for years made me love him.
3)There were some really sweet moments, not only between the mcs but between them and their family members. Molly's family and Noah's grandmother were all awesome secondary characters
4)There were some moments that dragged a bit and I wanted more actual interactions between the mcs
5)I wasn't a fan of the way the situation with Molly's job played out, I had hoped she'd confess but she lied instead
6)Cute epilogue, not far out so I'm assuming we see them in the other books
No cheating
I won't say second chance because they weren't together aside from the one moment as teens

I like this book. Oh the romance, the sweetness of Noah and the free spirit of Molly blends so perfectly together.
This romance is more character driven. So much layers being peeled in the most romantic and swooning way. I am gushed with happiness when they finally get their HEA. Noah is the center of my heart in this book. He is so brooding, serious and so mysterious. I do love a mysterious hero. Plus he has a very soft spot for Molly even though he denied it so hard.
I also happy to catch up with Logan and Paige. So glad to see they still in their HEA after 10 years. What a wonderful book to start my frustrating stay at home weekend.

Hot. dog.
This, right here, is my particular brand of kindle crack. I am powerless to resist it and utterly consumed by it when I encounter it.
This book.
I was obsessed with it! It had the perfect amount of push and pull. The perfect amount of flirting and kissing and emotion. The perfect amount of heat and drama. This was my first Karla Sorenson book, y’all. And now I want to gobble up everything she’s ever written.
This was so good!
Noah and Molly had me hooked right out the gate. I loved their awkward, slightly traumatic history and the way they met again years later. I loved Molly’s upbeat personality and her offbeat charm. And I’m a sucker for a grumpy hero any day of the week – so it took nothing for my heart to wrap itself around Noah and his delicious, addictive, ooey gooey soft underbelly. I loved the way things played out in this story and how this unlikely band of characters drew Noah out of his shell and opened up his heart. There were moments that read like a movie to me – the descriptions so perfectly written that they flitted through my brain like I was physically watching them unfold. My heart fluttered and squeezed and completely took flight over how perfect these two were, and how much I absolutely adored their story.
Beyond the love story - I loved the family dynamic and I want more Ward stories like, yesterday. I loved the warmth and authenticity with which they were written - this isn't a perfect family, but they have a lot of heart and I can't wait to explore more of that.
I’m hooked! I want more – so much more! I don’t know why it took me so long to pick up one of these books, but it most definitely won’t be my last. This one got me right in my sweet spot and I cannot wait to see what else this author has in store for me! ~ Shelly, 5 Stars

I have found that Karla Sorensen is officially my #SlumpBreaker. When I find myself neck deep in DNF territory her Grumpy/Sunshine books pull me out of my head and BAM I get sucked in! I loved Molly and Noah. I loved their banter and their history and the Ward family dynamic. I will say that I wish their past was delved into more (specifically Noah's reaction to that night.) In addition, I will say it: This author gets a 5 for her amazing Grumpy heroes but she gets a 3 for the lack of steam details. She definitely glosses over the steam between her characters, which I feel is a little bit of a letdown after the EXCEPTIONAL build up.
Overall, though,this was a solid story and I can't wait to delve into Claire's story! 4 stars! ~Ratula

Summary: Noah and Molly have a history which almost led to Noah losing his future career. Noah gets signed for the same club (idk if they're actually called that in America but we're going with it) that Molly works at and they're forced to work together in close proximity as a tv crew want to film a series about the club (with Noah being the star).
What I enjoyed:
➼ I loved the family dynamic throughout this book. Molly's relationship with each of her sisters was so unique and I really enjoyed their scenes together! I also liked her relationship with Logan and Paige (can't wait to read their book✨), you could see them both being parent figures and I especially liked how supportive Paige was towards Molly towards the end of the book.
➼ I liked the setting, sports romances are usually an instant win for me, having never watched a game of American football in my life I'd say I have a good understanding now tbh.
➼ Did I cry during the last chapter? yes
It was only a video compilation of Noah and Molly being together, THAT I COULDNT EVEN SEE, yet I WAS CRYING, I'm still confused, but clearly I got emotionally attached.
➼ I really liked the writing style, this is my first book by the author (skipping straight to Isobel's book next lol) and I just found it really easy to get into and get to know the characters, and there were quite a lot lol
➼ Rick and (Morty) Marty were the iconic duo that me and Noah both needed, I really loved how Noah sort of opened up a bit more towards the end and these new friendships development for him.
What I didn't enjoy:
➼ Beatrice...there's gotta be a villain hasn't there. The thing is I get her purpose in the story but surely things are super awks at the club after she fired Molly lol. Like if I was Logan or Noah I would have major issues with her but yeah, just sort of wished it was clarified what happened there.
➼ Noah - I mean okay, I get his appeal but he just didn't do anything for me?? I just felt like he didn't really have a personality besides the whole broody football player thing, and even as the book progressed and he "opened" up more (which I just said was a good thing above lol I love my contradictions) he didn't really change that much. He was just a bit too boring for me personally.
➼ I felt like the plot was SLOWWWWWWW, it felt like it took ages for anything to actually happen, this worked well to build up some kind of tension between Molly and Noah but at the same time... it kinda dragged in some places.
Overall though I did quite enjoy this, despite Noah and sometimes Molly being a bit boring I did like them together and thought they had a great love story in the end :')

Alright so I’ll start off by saying I really liked this book and I did enjoy it. The characters were likable and the storyline was great. I ALSO DID NOT SKIM THROUGH THIS BOOK...

I picked this book up because I wanted to know more about the Ward family and see Paige & Logan again. Therefore I was surprised that I enjoyed this more than I thought.
Overall I thought Molly and Noah as individuals were bland, especially Noah. His character was very one dimensional. His only focus is football and nothing else. Noah doesn't have any friends, he has barely contact to his family, he doesn't indulge in woman or alcohol. He doesn't do anything fun in his free time. Astrology is the only thing he allows himself to enjoy. Basically he doesn't live.
So reading about him working out or going house hunting is not really interesting. That part was a bit dragging to read. Molly was a little better, cause she had her lovely family, but it still took me a while to warm up to her character. The story was getting interesting when Noah, Molly and the film crew visited Noah's grandma a weekend in her cabin.
Molly and Noah's relationship ended before it could really start, but the way Noah made it up to her: SWOON. The scene with him, Marty and Rick preparing Molly's "gift" was hilarious. I loved it. I wished we could have seen more of this friendship. Just for that scene and for Noah's whole "romantic gesture" I'm giving 0.5 extra stars. Molly and Noah really grew on me even if it took almost 3/4 of the book, but now I do find them cute!
Needless to say, my favorite parts were the scenes with Paige, Logan, Emmett, Isabelle, Lia and Claire. Great to see that Logan is still the best big brother there is and Paige still gives semi good advise lol. I'm most excited about Isabelle's book with the MMA fighter (if that's is her love interest at all) so sad that it will take a while until her book is releases, but until then I'm not going to say no to more Ward family scenes.

This is the fourth book I’ve read about the Ward family as well as the fourth 5 star I’m giving out to them - I don’t know what’s in these books, but they’re all so good in their own way!
I love a good grumpy/sunshine and this one did not disappoint. My favorite thing about this book was definitely watching Noah turn from this grumpy ‘machine’ that lives solely for football - into this mushy guy that fell head over heels in love with Molly without even realizing it.
I also really loved how many layers there were to this story. There was so much going and so many character yet nothing felt like too much or like one thing was trying to win your attention over the other… it all felt really seamless
It was just a really good quick and easy read and I highly recommend checking it out - The other ones I loved with this family was The Marriage Effect which takes place before this story and that is where you see the first glimpse of Molly and Noah - and then Faked and Forbidden which are book two and four in this series.

Karla Sorensen is truly one of my top favorite romance authors now.
The two leads, Molly and Noah, were already introduced in The Marriage Effect. A few years after that book, Noah is now a big-shot football player who got transferred to Washington Wolves where Molly is currently working. She was put in charge of the project where they had to film a documentary about Noah so it brought them closer together. You could see how they progress from strangers to co-workers to friends to lovers.
Noah is very driven and his actions are all calculated, which is why people call him "The Machine." Somehow Molly can break through the walls he built up. She's the one who gets the carefree and smiling Noah to come out instead of the usual hyper-focused Noah.
A huge plus in this book is seeing Noah's relationship with his grandma as well as the scenes with the Ward family and. I'm really looking forward to Claire, Lia, and Isabel getting their own books.

When I finished The marriage effect, I knew that the author would write about Logan's sisters... They were to unique to let them go.
Sooooo I was really excited about Molly and Noah's love story.
It was slow burn and cute.
I have to say that I got bored in the middle of the book... I dropped a few times just because I just couldn't be Focused (pun indeed).
It was cute too see them fall in love after their beginning 10 years ago, but was also boring to death since nothing really happens.
I guess that I was expecting more angst or more passion from both.
He was a cold machine and she was a little more weak then I expected.
Isabel's will definitely be the best book in this series. She showed more energy and backbone in few pages than Molly the entire book.
But it was cute (I know that I use this particular word three times now, but that's the only way I can describe it 🤷🏻♀️).
I think I will wait for a while to read the next book.

Il mio chiodo fisso sei tu è uno sport romance auto-conclusivo di Karla Sorensen, ma fa parte di una serie di romanzi con protagonisti i membri della famiglia Ward.
Se avete letto la serie Washington Wolves i protagonisti di questo romanzo li avete già incontrati in “Effetto Matrimonio”, il mio romanzo preferito di questa autrice fino ad oggi. Non è necessario averlo letto, ma se amate i dettagli e i personaggi ricorrenti io vi consiglio davvero di iniziare da quello.
Questa nuova serie spin-off è ambientata diversi anni dopo, in Effetto Matrimonio Molly era la sorellina sedicenne di Logan Ward mentre Noah il vicino di casa diciannovenne per il quale aveva una cotta ossessiva, ora invece li ritroviamo nove anni più tardi.
Visto come sono andate le cose ai tempi, io ero curiosissima di leggere questo volume a loro dedicato, così come adesso non vedo l'ora di leggere quelli sulle altre sorelle!
Adoro le famiglie numerose e casiniste, le tre sorelline minori di Logan erano adorabili e sono felicissima che la Sorensen abbia deciso di scrivere anche di loro. Mi sono affezionata ai Ward, qui ovviamente tutti presenti come personaggi secondari! Evviva! ��
Ma ora veniamo ai due protagonisti indiscussi del romanzo e narratori in prima persona: Molly e Noah.
Molly Ward ha venticinque anni, da quattro lavora come intermediaria marketing per la squadra di football Washington Wolves ed ha sempre svolto un ottimo lavoro.
Suo fratello è stato un campione della squadra e ora è uno dei coach, ma lei ha ottenuto il lavoro dopo il tirocinio non per nepotismo, ma perché ha saputo dimostrare di saperci fare davvero.
Per questo, quando il suo nuovo capo le offre un nuovo incarico per metterla alla prova, ossia fare da intermediaria tra un nuovo acquisto della squadra e il team di Amazon interessato a girare un documentario su di lui, non esita un istante ad accettare.
L'accordo prevede però varie clausole, tra cui il divieto assoluto di fraternizzare con tutte le persone coinvolte nelle riprese, il che non sarebbe affatto un problema se il nuovo giocatore ingaggiato dai Washington Wolves non fosse Noah Griffin, la sua cotta adolescenziale che non vede da ben nove anni.
Noah, soprannominato “La Macchina”, è diventato un campione, per lui non esiste cosa più importante del football, degli allenamenti e delle partite, non si fa distrarre da nulla, niente feste, niente amici e soprattutto nessuna ragazza, da tanto tempo.
Il suo carattere è cambiato molto nel tempo, la stessa Molly stenta a riconoscere il ragazzo di un tempo.
Noah è quel tipo di protagonista scontroso, solitario, arrabbiato e si, anche stron*o! Almeno all'inizio, perché è grazie a Molly ed alla loro vicinanza durante le riprese che le cose inizieranno pian piano ad evolversi. Ed allora vedrete quanto vi innamorerete di Noah Griffin! ❤
Di questo romanzo mi è piaciuto praticamente tutto: personaggi principali e secondari, il primo incontro dei protagonisti e l'astio iniziale, il legame che stringono grazie alle riprese e come si evolve giorno dopo giorno, la tensione sessuale sempre in crescendo, l'autocontrollo dimostrato da Noah in diverse occasioni, il romanticismo e i forti legami familiari che l'autrice ha saputo trasmettermi.
Direi che questo libro è riuscito ad affiancare “Effetto Matrimonio” tra i miei preferiti di questa autrice indipendente.
Anche la traduzione, curata da Paola Ciccarelli (che ringrazio per la copia ARC), si conferma molto buona, la lettura scorre senza intoppi che è una meraviglia!
Il mio chiodo fisso sei tu è stata la mia prima lettura di Luglio e già si è posizionata tra le mie preferite del mese. Per leggere il prossimo romanzo della serie bisognerà ora attendere l'autunno, ma alla fine già si scopre chi sarà la prossima protagonista! ;)
Lettura consigliatissima a chi ama i romanzi rosa con personaggi sportivi, familiari ricorrenti, cotte giovanili che si ritrovano a distanza di anni e a quel pizzico iniziale di odio-amore.

Un libro che ha assolto perfettamente lo scopo per il quale l'ho scelto:
-distrarmi;
-rilassarmi;
-sognare un po'.
La Sorensen aveva chiuso la serie precedente facendoci conoscere quattro adorabili ragazzine, sorelle del protagonista ed è proprio una delle quattro ragazze a dare il via a questo nuovo giro di storie.
Un second-chance, fresco, leggero e romantico.
«Sai, ad ogni età si pensa di essere più maturi che mai. Di aver capito tutto della vita» dissi. Isabel sorrise. «E poi gli anni passano e vorresti prendere a schiaffi la te stessa del passato per aver pensato qualcosa di così stupido.»

Another one of those heroines who think it’s no big deal to come on to a guy without a thought to any possible consequences.
This one was an hormonal underaged teenager with mommy issues, who literally climbed through her neighbours’ window with the premeditated intention of seducing the 19 year old hero. He didn’t even know she existed until she plonked herself on his lap that day. 16 years old, she was.
I can forgive that, if today, 9 years later, she didn’t still blame others for her choices. She’s still making excuses for her thoughtless actions which led to the hero’s father selling their home to move them away from her because her brother threatened the hero’s upcoming career.
She’s a damn creep.
On the first day they meet again, she deliberately corners him in an elevator (she stalls the elevator) to get him to listen to her, KNOWING he’s been warned off her and that he had recently lost his position on his team because he was wrongly accused of hitting on his teammate’s wife.
Gross.
If the roles were reversed he’d be the bad guy.

idk prob bc the book could be longer so everything could be explained more clearly? like at first the H and h hate each other with passion and the H was like "no woman for me" but the next second they're having the hots for each other and can't stop touching each other im??? i feel like something's missing in the middle. probably like 40 pages or more tbh bc what the heck is that. the constant push and pull didn't work everything just fell flat for me despite the book having tropes that i love

Oh man, oh man, oh man! THIS BOOK, you guys. THE SWOON. I cannot even tell you. It's a delicious, heartfelt, sexy slow-burn that gets you in the feels. I couldn't put it down. The enemies-to-lovers storyline was filled with angsty tension, tons of heart and of course, heat. A perfect one sitting read. And it’s a standalone.

4,5 quarto libro della Sorensen e continua a piacermi molto. Quando si leggono le sue storie sai di non trovarti davanti a plot epici o grandi problemi, le trame sono semplici. L'autrice infatti tende a focalizzarsi sui protagonisti e sul loro rapporto, che si prende sempre il suo tempo.
Qui abbiamo un burbero giocatore di football che ha costruito tutta la sua vita intorno al gioco, escludendo qualsiasi tipo di distrazione, Molly riuscirà a fare breccia nella sua corazza e a condurlo verso una nuova vita. Non vedo l'ora di leggere la prossima sorella Ward ❤

Molly grew up within the walls of the Washington Wolves stadium and now that she’s a paid employee, she needs to make a name for herself and prove herself to her new boss, who is wary of possible nepotism. Molly gets the opportunity to do so with a possible promotion. She’ll be working with Amazon to make a documentary about life as a pro-football player and Molly will be the point of contact between Amazon and the Washington Wolves.
But when she finds out that the documentary will be focusing on the newly acquired player, Noah, who just so happens to be from Molly’s past, she isn’t so sure she’s up for this new challenge…
Focused by Karla Sorensen is book 1 in the Ward Sisters series. I really enjoyed the Washington Wolves series so I knew I wanted to read the spin-off series. If you read The Marriage Effect, you are familiar with Molly (and her sisters) but about 10+ years after. I loved seeing Molly blossom into adulthood and her & Noah’s romance was very sweet. This is a light, fun, cute romance. Nothing too heavy, which can be refreshing! 4/5 stars.
