If I had to be a character I would want to be most like Bob Hope. He was so resourceful and never gave up and because of this he became an icon in American society. I can only imagine what kind of father and husband he was, not being home very long, so he could entertain somewhere else in the world. He must have had an amazing wife to support his ever increasing endeavors. From Vaudeville, broadway, radio, film, television and USO troop leader. Then add on six books to his career and you have an icon. What a successful mentor this man has been. I remember him from the time television came out in black and white and he made our family really laugh. I am sorry he has left our world but I bet he plays for Jesus on a regular basis. You go Mr. Hope you will never be forgotten here. Really, thanks for the memories with all my heart.

This is a fan friendly biography of Bob Hope although the authors are honest in a few areas, but not brutally so. Mr. Hope was a consultant so the facts are not in doubt. The subject area is so broad one has to really continue researching on your own in some areas, but for the most part each chapter is sufficient. The subject of golf is touched upon but it really should have been a chapter on it's own. There is a page listing the books Mr. Hope wrote but it's only a partial listing. He contributed to over 20 books in his lifetime, so that's a career in itself! The filmography with a cast list, and comments is excellent. Additional information such as his ownership of baseball and football teams are included. After reading The Amazing Careers you realize this man accomplished more in one lifetime than most could in 5! The publisher is Arlington House.
