el maestro de la forma arquitectónica. probablemente el mejor diseñador de la historia. comprendió cada posibilidad de la línea y los límites del espacio.
no soy nada objetiva, para mí no ha habido (ni hay) mejor genio. entendió el volumen, el aire y la mujer.

el libro seguramente carece de una presentación oral, creo que está escrito para ser leído en una clase con diapositivas. aún así, verdaderamente inteligente todos los comentarios que hace sobre sus referencias españolas que, aunque obvias, no sobran. me ha sorprendido muchísimo la apreciación sobre su inspiración en las formas de los hábitos religiosos cristianos españoles; quizá por eso me gusta tanto, porque siempre está latente en su obra el modernizar la tradición católica.

me hubiese gustado saber más de su instinto para evolucionar, pero claro, poco dijo Balenciaga sobre eso, no es culpa del autor.



este libro me ha dado muchísimo apetito por leer biografías, asi que, por favor, no duden en recomendarme cualquiera.

Ojciec chrzestny konceptualnego wzornictwa, mistrz formy, prawdziwy reformator modowych trendów. Awangardowy projektant, nieustannie eksperymentującego z formami i materiałami.

Słowa te stają się symbolem i esencją marki, która nie tylko tworzy projekty, ale także staje się narratorem historii. Nie tylko przykuwają one uwagę, lecz są jak magnes, który przyciąga spojrzenia, zatrzymuje w biegu i pozwala na chwilę oderwania się od szybkiego tempa życia. 95% of the book is on Balenciaga the designer himself. I like how it is like an art history book explaining the historical and cultural background and the philosophy of the designer. It has a theme and has pictures illustrating the points. It’s very organized. But there are only like 10 pages on the brand during the period from Balenciaga’s death in the 1960s to now, and I chose to read the book partly because I love the city bag, on which the book has only 2 sentences. I guess the series has a word limit and the author chose to give a full illustration of Balenciaga the designer. Overall it’s a unique book in the series and I think a better one.

Little Book of Balenciaga is the story of Cristóbal Balenciaga, most famous for his exquisite craftmanship and innovative designs.

This book was really interesting, especially learning that the likes of Nicole Richie, Sarah Jessica Parker etc being spotted in the early 2000’s with Balenciaga Bags made them so desirable!

I am OBSESSED with Balenciaga “Speed” Trainers and reading this has made me want them even more 🥰

This is a great series by @welbeckpublish and I hope to get more by other designers - they will make a great collection!

The story of Balenciaga is inspiring, such a talented designer with beautiful works. Although reading this book I found myself quite bored in parts, which is weird since I’m a fashion student so I understand the vocabulary. I just found the book to be a little repetitive and rambly. However, I did learn a lot so three stars is my verdict.

The subject matter gets the 4 stars as you cannot but help be in awe of Cristobal Balenciaga. Sometimes I felt writer was being so defensive and trying hard to get back at all the critics, let the bygones be bygones. His creations speak for himself even after a century 😀

My dad saw this book in some store and immediately thought of me and purchased it ❤️. I brought it to school with me and finished it in about 3 school days + the bus rides to and from. A good brief history of Balenciagas career. The author goes in-depth with Balenciagas designs and inspirations. I kind of wish it didn't focus so much on the reviews of magazines and other authors. Almost every other page has a Vogue review which the author disapproves of. It's not that big of a deal but at some point I wished we wouldn't have to focus on the critics - even today.
Enjoyed it tho! Especially some of the looks. Quick and easy read.
