This colorful, comprehensive guide to dinosaurs includes color restorations of about one hundred forms and information on recent findings concerning social organization, behavior, and the cold-blooded/hot-blooded controversy
The science has advanced considerably since this book was first published in 1981 but a comprehensive account for the general reader nonetheless, including (then) new theories on dinosaur social organization and behaviour. Very well illustrated with colour restorations, again in line with the thinking forty years ago.
I very fun read with beautiful pictures. Couldn't really ask for more, the book is being serious but at the same time being a light read, good for younger people and us older alike.
It suprised me that the theory of why the extinction of the dinosaurs wasn't clearer in the 80's. The asteroid impact is only one of the possible explanations.
Some new insights of course. For example, I had no idea that the animals largely ruling the landmasses before the dinosaurs were more closely related to us the mammals then to them.
