It may seem odd to seek peace by moving to a war-torn African country, but for medical missionary Dr. Cynthia Myers, it provided a way to escape a shallow life of unearned wealth, a philandering fiancé, and a father now square in the public eye as vice president of the United States. At least here she knows her work and life have meaning. But all that is thrown into chaos ...more

Characters: Honor Bound followed Captain Rick Norton, a Green Beret, and Dr. Cynthia Myers, an obstetrician. Although both characters had their interesting moments and reactions, I had trouble connecting with them. Rick was a little too flawless, and Cynthia frustrated me with her pacifist beliefs. I was also disappointed that Cynthia was the only one who had to change in the end.

Language: Clean.

Moral/theme: This novel contained themes of sacrifice and courage. Both Rick and Cynthia were believe

'There is evil in the world and sometimes what protects pacifists are soldiers willing to meet that violence with equal violence.'

Boy howdy, this was a good book! I was immersed completely on the first page. I'd never read a book by Hallee Bridgeman and I was just amazed at how good the writing was. The story line was great and the character development was very well done indeed. I'm always a bit skeptical when choosing a new author's book to read, but I was so not disappointed here.

Doctor Cynthia Myers and Captain Rick Norton don't meet under norma circumstances. A warlord's army is coming to the African village she's serving in and he's tasked to get her out. The journey gets complicated as the team brings along their two wounded battling against limited resources and time. Over time Cynthia learns to trust his judgement and he grows to admire her resilience.

The fast, action packed first half of the book leads to the second half, just as suspenseful as both Rick and Cynth
This is my first book by Hallee Bridgeman and it surely will not be last. The author has an intense and incredible way of fusing military action and adrenaline with tender romance to create a fast-paced, cannot-put-down story. I have not read a romantic suspense before that front-loads the action at the beginning of the book and then moves on to character and romance development in the second half of the book, but it works really well for this particular book.

I loved Rick, the captain of the sp

"You'd think I would have the freedom to go where I want to go in the world. "

"Ma'am, I don't kowtow. But I did raise my hand and swear an oath to protect and defend. Now that your cover is blown, so to speak, this is the protect part."

Well, when he put it that way, medical missionary Dr. Cynthia Myers knew that Army Ranger Captain Rick Norton had every intention of extracting her from the African village that had become more like home to her than her upscale Washington, D. C. lifestyle. Of cour

Honor Bound by Hallee Bridgeman is a military story set in Africa between a doctor and the military unit. Romantic suspense is still part suspense, so I need tons of moments of worrying and bullets flying. Being in Africa, I know the bad guys are awful people, and it will create a lot of tension. I wanted to see more action throughout the entire novel. There was some suspense in the first couple of chapters, then the main characters moved out from the “rescue” area since they are going to be inv ...more

Dr.Cynthia Myers is working in a small African village when she first meets Cpt. Rick Norton. After two of his men are wounded, she is compelled to travel to civilization so that his men can get adequate care for their injuries.

Honor Bound starts out with a bang and for the first half it is non-stop action, but as Cynthia is forced home by her father due to circumstances, Rick’s deployment has come to an end. When they first meet, Cynthia isn’t crazy about Rick, and I think Rick doesn’t know wha

This story was a captivating, nail-biting, fast paced suspense! loved the team, their interactions, and their jokes.

We have briefly met the team in the Novella, Love in Any Language, so it was easier to follow them in book one. And even though we do not have all the history of the team, I could just feel the connection, love, and respect they have for each other and felt their fear that those injured will not make it out of the jungle.

The action scenes were executed well, taking you r

This is my first time reading Ms. Bridgeman, and I loved this book, so much. So so much. I don’t even know if I can write a proper review without just gushing about how much I loved this book!

Cynthia is a doctor, running a small medical practice and delivering babies in the middle of an African jungle. Rick, leader of an Army Special Forces team, has been trying to eradicate a warlord who terrorizes the villages, kidnapping the boys to raise into his army. Through chance and happenstance, Cynthi

Honor Bound by Hallee Bridgeman started as a romantic suspense before transitioning to more of a women’s fiction novel with a slow-burn romance. The action and danger at the beginning of the story caught my attention and had me turning pages. However, after a certain event, the suspense died out and the story felt slow, a stark contrast to the strong, intense start. I also had trouble connecting to Cynthia as some of her actions and responses seemed to not make sense considering the rest of her ...more

This is my first novel by Hallee Bridgeman and I can officially state that I plan to read more. The plot definitely captured my attention from the very beginning and the pace kept up so I was interested the whole way through. I was intrigued by the characters and the different dynamics presented. The romance thread was strong while also having a solid amount of suspense and action.
There was a lot of emphasis on prayer which was uplifting. I'll admit, I skimmed a few of the parts where it started

This is high-octane romantic suspense centered around an obstetrician, Dr. Cynthia Myers, and the head of a special forces team, Captain Rick Norton. Cynthia is in Africa doing medical missions when a warlord threatens her and the entire village where she is practicing. One of Captain Norton’s missions is to safeguard Cynthia, so he does, killing various enemies in the process. Cynthia, a pacifist by nature, is torn up by the violence and does not understand why Rick has to kill people as part o ...more

Honor Bound is an action filled romantic military suspense! It grabbed me from the first page and I devoured it in two days. The story takes us from Africa to Kentucky to North Carolina and some stops in between. I fell in love with each character. I especially loved the hero, Rick. He was tough, intelligent and so caringly tender. The heroine, Cynthia was a fearless doctor willing to do what it took to help her patients.
With a nail biting storyline I finished the book with a satisfied sigh. I

This is my first novel by this author and it will certainly not be my last! Action, suspense, and romance are all packed tightly into this exciting novel. I had a hard time putting it down due to wanting to find out more about the twists and turns that the novel frequently takes from beginning to end. I was also impressed that there was such deep character development even with all the action in the novel. The romance grows realistically, which I liked as well. I ran across this author a few months ago and downloaded a few free e-books by her, but had not read them yet. Then this book came up for review, her first with a major Christian publisher. I was intrigued, and requested it. It is one of the best first reads by a new-to-me author I have read for a while.

The two main characters are pure gold. They far from hit it off at first meeting, and are totally opposites. She is a pacifist against killing, and is a doctor who saves lives. He is a soldier

Thank you to Revell and NetGalley for this ARC. I am leaving this review voluntarily. This was a wonderful story of love, protection and giving of yourself to others. Dr. Cynthia Myers has led a privileged life, and she wants to escape that privileged life and give back o those less fortunate. This is how she ends up as a medical missionary in a war ravaged country in Africa. She abhors violence of any kind. I anticipated another well-crafted story from this author.

I was not disappointed.

The first book in the Love & Honor series, this three-hundred-and-eighty-four-page paperback targets those interested in romantic suspense involving the military. With no profanity, topics of physical abuse, war, and death may not be appropriate for immature readers.
