I go into these books knowing the one before it was so great and I’m like “how can this one top the last” and every single time I am rewarded with just that. Reed and Callie’s story was perfection! The angst, the fire and spice, the edge of my seat moments, the emotions, all stemming from “protect and serve” and “I do”. I caught on pretty early to what I thought would be how it would all play out with the mystery (as an avid Sharp reader already and how previous books read) but she still managed to throw me off my guard a few times with the reveals of Reed’s past and what all he thought he knew and how it shaped his life, and how his past was intertwined with the present events. I love how the Convington Team is a family unit through and through, no matter if it’s with the OG or with the probies! I loved seeing the interaction with the Sherwood and AT guys knowing some of their stories are coming up made it so much more intriguing. Thick or thin, they all have each other’s 6 and in the case of Reed and Callie, for better or for worse. The way love at first sight can be real, whether or not they truly realized it until it seemed their better was more for worse, but they never stopped truly wanting to be there for one another, to protect, to love, and to understand that it’s ok to put yourself first for once. That it’s ok to want something you never realized you needed until that one person is there for you above all else, to be your someone. Absolutely loved this story and has now taken root as my favorite CS book thus far!.
