I thought I was the one straight Theriot cousin... But I was wrong.
Because when Sheriff Eric Winston demanded my help in ridding his territory of pure evil, I couldn’t say no.
The man’s infuriating—a clean-cut do-gooder—and my family’s never exactly been friends with the law. But I couldn’t deny I owed the man a favor… And I can’t deny the things he makes me feel either.
I want to protect him. To kiss him. To possess him. To save him from the enemy that threatens to take him away from me. To break down every obstacle that could keep us apart… Even the ones in my own mind.
Because I thought I was the one Theriot cousin who could never fall in love… But I might have been wrong about that, too.

This is another one of the favorites from the series! I am glad both twins were my favorites of the series!
Ambrose and Eric were a good pair, understanding of each other and how they could benefit one another.
I will say the ending with the bad guys, and how he died.. compared to the other books while not as dramatic was pretty funny. Haha I was expecting more at the end with the OTT one person gets kidnapped and the other rushes to their rescue, that didn’t really happen here since Eric was a sheriff and Ambrose was the recluse mafia man.
I can’t wait for “Renegade” to come out in September! A safe house on a horse ranch.. aka the cowboys/organized crime/military/undercover/safe house crack that I love to devour! Haha
I've been invested in Silvia Violet's mob families since the first of the Marchesi series and I've loved them all. Ambrose is my favorite, at least of the Theriot series. Sorry Tony, I love you, but hurt-comfort is my jam (do people still say that? I feel like that's not a thing anymore. Anyway...)
The sexy, reclusive, previously straight, member of a New Orleans mob family falls for the hot new sheriff in town and claims him for his own? With heat, humor, and appearances by the rest of the Theriot family, Ambrose was a fun read.
It's probably best to read the series in order so you know who everyone is and why they're doing what they're doing. But that's no hardship, because they're all amazing books.
This is actually a good story, Ambrose and Eric are unlikely couples. I enjoyed the bayou a little bit much, but SV needs to fire her editor. Just saying
I am all about our mysterious loner Ambrose and his alligator finding their perfect man! I love nothing more than a tough, protective and possessive alpha male with a vulnerable sweetness underneath that only comes out for the right man! Eric is that man for Ambrose! And he is his first man! So sweet and steamy first man times for Ambrose. I loved the dynamic of these two stubborn men accepting and wanting to protect each other. Eric seems to naturally know when to give, take and let go for Ambrose. I received an ARC and I have to say Ambrose's story was everything I hoped it would be and more!
Ambrose is the reclusive cousin to the Theriots. He lives out in the bayous outside of New Orleans. When his cousins need him, he goes out to help them. The last time they called him out to help, he met Sherriff Eric. ANd got obsessed.
I like the push and pull in between Eric and Ambrose. They both feel strongly about their life, but they are also willing to listen to the other and deal with what they had to say.
I have been waiting for the mysterious Ambrose to receive his due share. I was not disappointed. He was everything I wanted and Eric, his match, was just so perfect for him.
I was slightly worried that we were going to have to deal with the whole “but I’m straight” angst with Ambrose, since he has always viewed himself as such. But he was so accepting of his feelings for Eric. The angst, if you can call it that, came from him wanting Eric to feel the same way. He desperately wanted to be loved, he just didn’t know how. After hearing more of Ambrose’s story, it just broke my heart. He viewed himself as such an unlovable monster. Eric saw past that, to the man beneath that wanted love and acceptance. Even Eric had his moments of doubt, hoping that Ambrose would reciprocate his feelings. Ambrose and Eric were smoking hot together. The desperation hidden just beneath the surface shone through in nearly every sexy scene they shared and it was on fire.
There is an underlying mafia plot with a new drug runner taking over in Eric’s parish and Ambrose helping him get rid of the new comer. For me, this was just a subplot. I was really in it for the story between Eric and Ambrose. We also get the thread of what could be a new series at a ranch possibly? If so, I am so here for it. A ranch functioning as a safe house? Yes, please.
I loved this book. Ambrose, for all his gruffness, was so sweet and vulnerable. Eric showed so much tenderness and compassion while having a backbone of steel. They are really giving Remington and Henri and run for their money as my favorite couple of the series. This book was definitely a win for me.
*I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.
There are a number of reasons that Eric and Ambrose shouldn’t work. An extroverted sheriff with a strong commitment to law and order and an introverted former soldier and member of a prominent crime family are on the opposite sides of pretty much everything– except they’re really not. Their attraction is strong and quickly progresses from chemistry to declarations of love, despite the numerous obstacles and perils they both face. It’s a bit on the instalove side for me, and I might have liked to see more time put into the development of their bond, but overall Eric and Ambrose just work together in really rewarding ways. Eric’s willingness to see the good in Ambrose, and to take him as he is and help him to see that good in himself, offers some lovely hurt/comfort dynamics, and Ambrose’s protective instincts are more sweet than off putting, even when he’s growly about it. In addition to the romance, there’s plenty of adventure, danger, and, weirdly,an extensive collection of pets, both conventional and less-so (looking at you guys, alligator and monkey). Plus the chance to see previous characters from this series coming together once again to deal with all the assorted peril. Overall, an enjoyable read.
*I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.
So on one hand you have Ambrose a straight ex army member of the Theriot mafia family and on the other hand you have Eric a gay sheriff. Sounds like a plan for disaster especially as Ambrose has a tendency to go off and hide in the bayou. Silvia Violet is good at writing books like this though and for making them feel believable, although maybe it’s something in the water that keeps turning all the men gay. Grin! (I think I would like a book for Eric’s sister where she meets her man because let’s face it not all of the Theriot men can only like guys.) This book is a fun read with high heat, some fun kink and medium angst. It also has some scenes with characters from past books which I always like and to me makes the books seem more realistic than when a series is about a family but each book only has one couple in it with no interaction between the rest of the family. If you like mm mafia books then I recommend this series to you. You don’t have to have read the other books to understand this one but I do recommend it. Enjoy!
This one was a little different from the other books, less action more emotion and healing...I have waited for Ambrose's story since the beginning and it didn't disappoint. Eric and Ambrose were the perfect pairing, cop/criminal...spicy and forbidden 🔥 Ambrose broke my heart at times, getting to understand why he's been so reclusive and cagey....Eric was the solid, grounding and loving presence that Ambrose has been missing all of this time...watching Ambrose slowly lower his walls to be loved was everything!!! I loved these guys, I adore this family...getting to see these characters again was icing on the cake. I highly recommend this book and this series as a whole. I am hoping this author continues on with another spin off series about this mysterious ranch run by X...who's with me?
* I received an ARC from GRR, this is my open and honest review *
I was really forward to Ambrose's book and I wasn't disappointed. Ambrose is a recluse and hides in the swamps of Louisiana with his pet alligator from his family because of his past. Eric is the new sheriff but has secrets of his own and he needs Ambrose's help to get rid of the new cartel that is in his parish. These two butt heads at first but you can see the attraction from the moment they meet. The book is funny, action-packed, some angst, sweet and I loved the tender moments that two have together as they are getting to know one another. It was great seeing the previous characters, especially Lance and Tony, they all make me laugh and smile. This is a great series and I look forward to them.
“He was mine. I needed him more than solitude, more than hiding, more even than the bayou I’d become a part of.” Swoons and swamps, I love Ambrose and Eric! I refuse to let them—or any of the men in this series—go because I’m madly in love, but I will say goodbye for now to this fantastic series. Everything I wanted to learn and know about my favorite silent Theriot was answered and Eric is the perfect counterpart. Their love had my heart racing, pounding and sighing with completeness as they discovered each other and simply meshed. I adore these men with hard shells and soft centers who love hard and protect harder, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t share that some of my favorite parts involved the clever pets with such big…well, you’ll see. So if you’re looking for an amazing series with some lagniappe, then look no further than The Theriots.
i’m reading this in this order: Dax → Ambrose → Lancelot → Remington → Corbin (maybe).
✔ This is the “straight” fraternal twin of Dax named Ambrose and he rescues the Police officer named Eric. Eric is trying to stop the new cartels from ruining his neighbour’s kids and that sets off Ambrose and he sorta kidnaps him to keep him safe in a safe house. They’re both trying to somehow save each other in their own stubborn ways.
✔ Michael Dean being excellent as always and is the reason why i’m continuing with this series. This time it was even better since he gave Ambrose a Southern American drag/accent.
✔ Sir & baby (Once only). 👀
✔ Bi cop discovers the joys of bottoming.
✔ Candice is the real MVP. Loved her!
✔ Their animals are an alligator and a cat. But i really love Tony the monkey most!!!
✔ This was also plot heavy with lots of time spending when they were in a safe house together. Very domestic! 🥺
✔ Ambrose crochets!! 😭 And they go fishing, and Eric read him a book!
✔ This was much less angsty than Dax’s story. Although poor Ambrose has a lot of ptsd from military and working in mafia, it wasn’t much difficult for me. But i definitely could empathise.
✔ Holy shit the alligator dinner! 😂😂
✔ This has 3 sex scenes (with head as foreplay) with very responsive MCs at first but by the time the last scene comes(💀), i thought they bcame mute (which is saying something since a guy is literally reading it). Some happens off page and just mentioned. The last one has an extended scene with restraints. And 1 sex act (69). //i count sex acts separate from intercourse.
✔ i liked how Eric’s morals were challenged as he dated Ambrose. And Ambrose battling his inner demons and finally accepting that he can be vulnerable too and explored his sub side with being cuffed in bed. There was depth to their characters.
✔ Cute epilogue but it’s probably just months in hence HFN.
i just… couldn’t get invested in their relationship, you know? i wrote all this to tell you the good and not so good but i didn’t have my heart in it nor on Eric & Ambrose.
♦ It’s probably bcuz i didn’t like that Eric had to leave his job. That was the nail on the coffin. Why should he have to sacrifice? But he somehow made it through so, that good.
♦ There was a lot of push and pull b/wn them which had i read it, would’ve angered me. But it was easy to ignore in an audiobook. There’s a lot of ‘i love you, but i’m not the right guy.’ Or if they’d get together then Eric has to leave his job, etc. 🙄
♦ i dunno how the “love” part happened cuz they were Eric saying how he’s not into straight guys at around 30% and then suddenly at 34% he’s falling in love while in the safe house?? What interactions warranted that?? Especially since they were clearly hooking up.
♦ Same for Ambrose, he’s just spend time saying how he’s straight and all that jazz but suddenly he’s bi now? And they must have sex? He’s been hella possessive of Eric i’ll give him that. At 54% he does confess he love Eric and apparently he was still in some denial so he had to do it properly at 68%! i just didn’t see when love even entered the stage!
Now off to Lance’s story so i can see more of Tony!!♥

There's this saying when it comes to cousins and the reasons why we have cousins it's because the good Lord above knows how our moms couldn't handle us as siblings? No? Or is that the best friend bit? Anyways, I'm getting off topic. What I meant to say is that after reading Dax, the Theriot cousin, I just had to have Ambrose, his twin brother! No wait, I needed him! Because, what's better than dark and broody? Well, how about mysterious, sexy, grumpy, loyal and big? My thoughts exactly. I think Silvia Violet got Ambrose just right, just not perfect. Enter the clean cut, do-gooder Sheriff Eric Winston to balance out everything that is Ambrose and you have a perfect recipe for everything daring and sexy. Aside from all the best parts, we get more about Ambrose's story and it's one that is bitter sweet except you don't feel sorry for him, instead you get this deep feeling of respect and awe, just like how Eric sees him and he sees him alright. I'm so happy that Silvia gave him his own HEA, and no one would have been more perfect for the lone wolf than Eric. He managed to do the impossible and that is to make Ambrose fall in love. To want more than his lonely existence in the swamps. Straight or not, Ambrose isn't one to shy away from danger and he always keeps his word. It's no surprise he doesn't deny Eric when asked a favor, no if it means keeping the Sheriff in the end. I enjoyed every chapter of this book and I cannot wait for its audio release. I enjoyed every one of Silvia Violet 's men, but Ambrose and Eric have a special place in my heart. Five stars for Ambrose because there's something about loving the tall, dark, mysteriously sexy grump that just does it for me. Happy reading all!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book in exchanged for my honest review, for Gay Romance Reviews.
Ambrose has always been the wild card of the Theriot family, and I was very excited to learn more about him in this book. His and Eric's romance was every bit as steamy as I'd hoped it would be, but it also had a hidden sweetness that took me by surprise. I had no idea Ambrose was hiding so much pain from his past, and watching him heal from that and realize he did deserve Eric's love was touching. I loved the way the two of them understood each other on such a deep level, and it really made me believe in their connection. Eric always seemed to sense when Ambrose needed a break from other people, and Ambrose knew when to dial back his need for control when it really mattered. The two of them were much better matched than I would have guessed, and I loved seeing how being together made them both better as individuals. The Carlotti plotline was an engaging way to bring the Theriot family together, and once again I thoroughly enjoyed the way each family member worked together to keep everyone safe. After such a whirlwind of action and danger, it was a huge relief to see Eric and Ambrose build a peaceful retreat in the bayou for themselves.
**I voluntarily read an ARC of this book. This review expresses my honest thoughts and opinions.
I loved this book (which wasn’t a surprise to me since I love every book in this shared world)
We’ve gotten to know Ambrose a tiny bit in the previous books in the Theriot Family series and he is so intriguing. I was really looking forward to getting to understand him more in this book. Ambrose went through a lot in the service and that is why he is so introverted and prefers to stay out in the bayou. He isn’t looking for a relationship and has always identified as straight. Meeting Eric and getting to know him has him rethinking that though.
Eric doesn’t really want to work with the Theriots after their lies to him but he doesn’t really have choice after a new mob family tries to move in.
Eric is absolutely perfect for Ambrose because he doesn’t expect him to change at all. Eric cares for Ambrose and supports him in ways Ambrose didn’t even know was possible. I loved everything about their relationship, and as always the action/suspense was perfect. Silvia Violet always balances the live story with the action perfectly.
I did receive a free ARC of this book but that did not influence my review.
Ok. Correct star rating 4.5 Only because Im an idiot and didnt read the earlier books. This is part of a series, while you dont need to read the earlier books, it might help as it begins in the middle of a scene from the previous book, but its in Ambrose and Erics POV.
I loved that Ambrose while he thought he was straight he had no issues with falling for a man, or being with a man for the first time. His only issues were due to his time in service. Totally understandable. He believe due to what he had to do there, he would be shunned and rejected. Even by his own sibling.
Eric could see interest, but assumed it wouldnt happen. He fell for Ambroses loyality, and honour. He made the perfect partner for Ambrose as he understood Ambroses need to protect him, and his need for alone, decompress time. He encourged his relationship with his family and was willing to walk into the jaws of hell to protect Ambrose also.
These two were made for each other. Now to delve into the beginning of this series. As Im sure the rest were just as good.
He will find someone to bring him out of the bayou
This book rocks! The next of the Theriot family to meet his match is Ambrose. The twin who spent time in the army and hides out in the bayou will meet his match in Eric, the sheriff of a nearby parish. They come together to eliminate a threat to the safety of the people Eric protects but it will only bring more trouble. Ambrose wants to protect Eric and also finds himself drawn to him in ways he never thought possible, seeing as how he has never found himself attracted to another man before. Their chemistry is off the charts when they finally come together and while they will butt heads, they will work together with the rest of Ambrose’s family to get rid of an even bigger threat to them all. In the end, Ambrose’s family will not only embrace Eric, but the changes he has brought about in Ambrose.
I read an ARC copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
Ambrose is book 5 in the Theriot Family Series. It’s an M/M interconnected standalone. Can be read on its own but would have spoilers for previous books so better read in order. Each book contains different couples. Ambrose has always been a mystery. A recluse, living out in the bayou, not really interacting with anyone, barely even his twin. He has PTSD from his time in the army and struggles to get past the flashbacks and trauma. No one really knows what’s happened to him there. Eric is the local Sheriff and has been helping the family to a degree. Things soon start to change between Eric and Ambrose. Everyone including Ambrose himself has always thought he is straight. Never showed any interest in other men but Eric has definitely caught his eye! Things start to heat up between them pretty quick and it becomes apparent that they definitely need each other. A hot and steamy Mafia family read with a hot sheriff. Would definitely recommend.
Finally Ambrose gets his HEA. I have wanted to see the reclusive Ambrose find his match since he was first introduced to us and Eric didn’t disappoint. This book is an opposites attract, criminal vs. law enforcement,bi-awakening story with Gerard,a “pet” alligator, thrown in for fun. Ambrose doesn’t understand why he feels the way he does towards Eric, as he’s never been with a man before, but once the idea of them together is firmly in his mind he just goes with it. Eric, for his part, has crushed on Ambrose from their first meeting but tries to deny the attraction b/c of Ambrose’s criminal family and the fact he originally believes him to be straight. Eric is able to bring Ambrose out of his self-imposed shell with his acceptance of Ambrose’s past, and Ambrose is able to make Eric see that some criminals do bad things for good reasons. I am happy to see all the Theriot men have a HEA and look forward to Ms. Violet’s next book (which I am hoping is about the mysterious ranch mentioned in the end 🤞🏻).
Ambrose is definitely worth reading if you have liked any of the other books in the series. If you don't mind your characters breaking the law a bit here and there and finding romance along the way, the entire series will appeal to you. One thing I appreciate is all the characters have different stories and distinctly separate personalities in each book. I don't feel like I am reading the same book over and over. I have particularly been looking forward to Ambrose's book as I wondered what happened to make him into such a hermit. Ambrose's history is revealed as he and Eric slowly gravitate to each other. They both have to bend a bit and neither is naturally inclined to do so. It is fun watching them get together and solve their drug lord problem. And as I said in the headline, Gerald wins the day.
Ambrose thought he was the one straight Theriot cousin but was wrong as he was unable to say no and felt attracted to Sheriff Eric Winston when he asked for help ridding his territory from evil. Ambrose wants to protect, kiss and possess him as he breaks down every obstacle keeping them apart even if they are in his mind. He also thought he was the only one who could never fall in love and was wrong about that too.
I loved this story and how reclusive Ambrose could be tempted out of his comfort zone for a man on the opposite side of the law. Their relationship was very passionate from the start and that certainly gave plenty of sparks. Lots of decisions for them both to make although the attraction between them made it easy to make. Easy to feel, read and understand. This is an MM story with mature content.
I think this was my favorite book after Remington. No one can quite beat Remington and Henri, but I did love seeing Ambrose opening up to Eric, overcoming his recluse life because he wants this one man more, it was just SO romantic and sweet and cute and funny (づ>/////<)づ♡ This book does have the same complaints as Dax and Lance do, which is that the writing is not great. And again, I only mention it because I do feel like it got in the way of my reading experience a bit. There were so many grammatical errors, so many punctuation mistakes, the pronouns switched a lot so it got a little difficult to understand who was talking sometimes. Still, it's a great palate cleanser, I'm so glad to have finished reading all the stories from the Theriot family, and I can't wait to revisit Remington and Henri especially ( ˶˘ ³˘)♡
Ambrose and Eric story was full of adrenaline and danger, but also sweet moments and love. I really was excited to see the way Ambrose found his happiness and the kind of man that would conquer his heart. Even if their beginnings wasn't favourable as they get to know each other and the circumstances that put them in each other proximity makes them realize that they are perfect for each other. I loved the moments when they are vulnerable with each other and confide the most deepest parts of what makes them what they are and the way they offer understanding, acceptance and love. I liked their devotion and how they protect each other, and the way the family offers support and love when they needed the most. I really loved the story and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.
I’ve been waiting for Ambrose story for forever, or it seems like it. The author did not disappoint us with his story and why he became a hermit. Ambrose suffers from severe PTSD. Eric is the sheriff of the parish and helped to take down LaPlatt but now a new foe has moved into his territory and Eric needs Ambrose and the Theriot families help again. Eric and Ambrose’s attraction is immediate! I loved how these two couldn’t keep their hands off each other, they were fire!! It hooked me and didn’t let me go! Overall, fantastic!! This was well written, the pacing was really good, definitely recommend. I’m voluntarily reviewing from an advanced copy that I received. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
This is another Sylvia winner from the Theriot Family series with a tender, gay Sheriff Eric and a straight, recluse Ambrose. They unite to take out some drug dealers the law can't remove and love happens. I love the open possessiveness and head over heels attraction the Theriot men feel for their men! Sylvia's mafia books, with some violence, also have lots of passion, sex and crazy times with family. And I love how other Theriots love to burn on each other, even though they have the same feelings and always have each other's backs. This book is a welcome addition to an overall great series and if she adds more relatives, I am all for it! I was given a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviewers and this is my honest opinion.
I won't go over the blurb as you can read in the description. 🧐🤔 Who doesn't love an MM series. 📚 This series is combined with the other series. I love this series and the world it comes from. In this whole series Ambrose was the mysterious one, the one who never came out of his swamp unless necessary and whose best friend seems to be the local gator. In the last book we met Eric, who seemed to have an instant attraction to Ambrose, who also seemed attracted to Eric even though to everyone's knowledge he was straight. This book came the realization to Ambrose that he might not be as straight as he thought as he constantly thought about Eric. It was so amazing seeing the changes happen between these two men and the HEA they ended up with.
