"let kindness spread like a wildfire."

Opal Clemens is a bubbly outgoing girl with a big heart. She loves to make people happy and has a positive outlook on life. Her constant goals are to make the people around her feel joyous and loved.

Koa Whiley: broken, flawed, and unworthy. He's the boy misunderstood by the world. His body is covered in scars that tell the saddest stories. With tear-stained cheeks and blind eyes, he always saw the world raging like an untamable wildfire.

In everyone else’s mind he’s just a hopeless boy, but in Opal’s mind he’s just a boy in need of a friend.

Tropes:
- ex best friends
- bad boy x sunshine
- flawed characters
- “damaged” hero
- trauma
*Check TW, at the beginning of the book*

POV: first person - dual

Type: stand-alone (interconnected?)

Opal and Koa used to be best friends until one day things changed and he cut everyone off. Koa hasn’t been the same since and has gotten himself into more trouble than one can count. When he feels all hope is lost, Opal steps back into his life with enough sunshine to go around.

God it feels great when there’s light at the end of the tunnel. These characters deserve the world after everything was thrown at them. It truly was a beautiful story.

These characters have flaws. Things are said. Actions are done. But in the end, I never stopped rooting for their HEA.

This was originally on Inkitt and was recently published! I hadn’t heard of it before but I’m so glad I took a chance on it!

I HIGHLY recommend! Just be prepared to have your heart ache.

This is one of the best books I've read. Opal ( the main character) is such a sweetheart, she deserves the world, everyone needs an opal in their life.
Koa is a precious person , he deserves more than the shitty world he had to grow up in. Reading this book is so worth it! You not only fall in love with the main characters but the side characters will make you fall in love with them (most of them) (some are sorry excuses of living beings)

I originally read this story on Wattpad. I will definitely be purchasing a hardcopy because this book is a goody. Koa and Opal are my favorites. Author you really know how to tug on the heart strings. I shedded quite a few tears reading. Really good, really enjoyed. Worth the read. 👍🏾

One of the best books, probably my favorite. Raising awareness about a topic that isn’t talked about all that much. Which is my favorite part. The whole time I rooted for Opal and Koa. There are lots of evil people out there and this book shows reality. This book really makes you emotional, the author did a great job bringing you to tears and feeling what the characters were feeling. You wouldn’t regret reading this. Highly recommend.

Really great book. Definitely worth your time reading it. I loved the main characters dynamic and how they really came alive with the author's writing. If you're thinking about reading this definitely do!

I was soo good, didn’t feel like it was a slow burn. I was in a reading slump and nothing I was reading was good, I was just reading tons of books until I could find one that was good and this one did the trick. I read it in 2 days or less and was so into it!

Didn’t realize I didn’t rate or review this book.

This was a cute and sad book. I don’t remember much because I couldn’t binge read this like I wanted to.
