The contents of this volume are extremely The specific events in this earliest period set precedents for what later became established Islamic practice. The book deals with the history of the Islamic community at Medina during the first four years of the Islamic period--a time of critical improtance for Islam, both as a religion and as a political community. The main events recounted by Tabari are the battles between Muhammad's supporters in Medina and their adversaries in Mecca. Tabari also describes the rivalries and infighting among Muhammad's early supporters, including their early relations with the Jewish community in Medina.

About the author

Abu Ja'far Muhammad ibn Jarir al-Tabari (224 – 310 AH; 839 A.D–923 A.D) was a prominent and influential Persian scholar, historian and exegete of the Qur'an from Tabaristan, modern Mazandaran in Iran. Even if today he's better known for his expertise in Islamic sciences (Qur'anic commentary and law) or history, he has been described as "an impressively prolific polymath. He wrote on such subjects as poetry, lexicography, grammar, ethics, mathematics, and medicine."

His most influential and best known works are his Qur'anic commentary known as Tafsir al-Tabari and his historical chronicle Tarikh al-Rusul wa al-Muluk (History of the Prophets and Kings), often referred to Tarikh al-Tabari. Al-Tabari founded his own madhhab which is usually designated by the name Jariri.

"گوید : پس عمر بن سعد سوی حسین روان شد و چون پیش وی رسید حسین بدو گفت:یکی از سه چیز را بپذیر: یا مرا گذاری از همانجا که آمده ام باز گردم؛یا بگذاری پیش یزید روم؛یا از همینجا روم سوی مرزها. "
این مکالمه روز دوم محرم شصت و یک زمانی که حسین بن علی به طور اتفاقی و پس از تعقیب و گریزی که در صفحات قبل 2973 ذکر شده وارد کربلا میشود و این پیشنهادات مطرح میشود که مورد قبول ابن زیاد قرار نمیگیرد

سوالی که اینجا به ذهن من میرسه اینه که آیا "احیای امر به معروف و نهی از منکر" و یا "احیای نماز" و ابیاری درخت اسلام و دفاع از حق علیه باطل و... با مفاد هر سه شرط پیشنهادی محقق میشد؟

During the night there was a light drizzle, and we went under trees and leather shields to shelter from the rain there. The Messenger of God spent the night calling upon his Lord as follows: "O God, if this group perishes you will not be worshipped on earth." When dawn broke, he called out, "Come to prayer, servants of God!" and the people came from under the trees and the leather shields. The Messenger of God led us in prayer and urged us on to fight. Then he said, "The army of Quraysh is by that hillside." When they approached us and we drew ourselves up against them we suddenly saw a man on a red camel moving among them. The Messenger of God said, "Ali, summon Hamzah to me (he was the closest to the unbelievers) and ask him who the man on the red camel is, and what he is saying to them." The Messenger of God said, "If there is anyone among them who will give them good advice, perhaps it will be the man on the red camel." Hamzah came to him, and said, "It is "Utbah b. Rabi'ah, and he is telling them not to fight, and is saying to them, 'I see people who are determined to fight to the death. Your meeting them will not have any good outcome for yourselves. Wrap up my head, men, and say, "Utbah b. Rabi'ah has turned coward", yet you know that I am not the most cowardly of you.""

Abu Jahl heard that and said, "Is this what you are saying? By God, if it were anyone else saying this, I would bite him! Your lungs and your belly are full of fear?" "Utbah replied, "Are you abusing me, you cowardly wretch? You will see today which of us is the greater coward!" Then 'Utbah b. Rabi'ah, his brother Shay- bah b. Rabi'ah, and his son al-Walid went in front of the army in a fighting frenzy, and said, "Who will meet us in single combat?" Six young men of the Anşăr came forward, but 'Utbah said, "We do not want these; we want some of our cousins from the sons of 'Abd al-Muttalib!" The Messenger of God said, "Ali, rise up! Hamzah, rise up! 'Ubaydah b. al-Harith, rise up!" Then God killed 'Utbah b. Rabi'ah, Shaybah b. Rabi'ah, and al-Walid b. 'Utbah, and 'Ubaydah b. al-Harith was wounded, and then we killed seventy of them and took seventy of them captive.

The rumour spread among the army that the Messenger of God had been killed. Some of the people on the rock began to say, "Would that we had an envoy to 'Abd Allah b. Ubayy, so that he could secure our safety from Abu Sufyan! Muḥammad has been killed, so go back to your people before the Meccans come and kill you." Anas b. al-Naḍr, however, called out, "Men, if Muhammad has been killed, the Lord of Muhammad has not been killed, so fight as Muḥammad fought. O God, I apologise to you for what these people are saying, and I disavow before you what they have done." Then he rushed at the enemy with his sword and fought until he was killed.

تاریخ الرسل و الملوک یا تاریخ الامم والملوک، معروف به تاریخ طبری در اصل توسط محمدبن جریر طبری، تاریخ نگار و محقق ایرانی در اواخر سده سوم هجری به زبان عربی نوشته شده. این کتاب که مهم ترین مجموعه ی تاریخ عمومی جهان اسلام است، از داستان خلقت آغاز کرده و به نقل زندگی پیامبران (به روایت اسلامی) و پادشاهان قدیم ایران پرداخته، و پس از وقایع دوران ساسانی، به نقل زندگی پیامبر اسلام، اهل بیت، نقل تاریخ اسلامی تا سال تنظیم کتاب (۲۹۳ هجری ) گریز زده است. کتاب که در اصل ۱۶ جلد بوده، از آن پس منبع بسیاری از وقایع نگاران پس از طبری بوده. تاریخ طبری را ابوعلی بلعمی به فارسی ترجمه و خلاصه کرده و از خود مطالبی به آن افزوده و تغییراتی در آن داده، به گونه ای که ترجمه ی فارسی طبری، تألیفی تازه محسوب می شود و گاه با نام "تاریخ بلعمی" از آن نام می برند. تاریخ طبری را "ابوالقاسم پاینده" در 1352 ترجمه و بی هیچ تغییر، در همان 16 جلد، منتشر کرده است. ترجمه ی دیگری هم توسط صادق نشات صورت گرفته که بنگاه ترجمه و نشر کتاب در 1351منتشر کرده است.

نقل حوادث مربوط به حسین و یزید ، بی پروایی زینب، یکمی از مختار ذکر شده بود
طفلکی طبری اصلا نتونسته بود صحنه رو به جذابی مدّاح های ما تعریف کنه
مثلا یکمی چخان و اینا
به هرحال تاریخو باید دانست تا یک پشمالوی مثلا باسواد نیاد ما رو شستشوی مغزی بده

تاریخ الرسل و الملوک یا تاریخ الامم و الملوک معروف به تاریخ طبری کتابی است به زبان عربی که توسط محمد بن جریر طبری تاریخ‌نگار و پژوهش‌گرِ ایرانی مسلمان در اواخر سده سوم پس از هجرت به رشته تحریر درآمده‌است و یکی از بزرگترین و معتبرترین منابع دوره اسلامی است. طبری نویسندهٔ مشهورترین، مهم‌ترین و ارزشمندترین مجموعه‌های مفصل تاریخ عمومی اسلام و جهان به‌شمار می‌آید. این کتاب، تاریخ را از زمان خلقت شروع کرده و سپس به نقل داستان پیامبران و پادشاهان قدیمی می‌پردازد. در بخش بعدی کتاب طبری به نقل تاریخ پادشاهان ساسانی می‌پردازد، و از آنجا به نقل زندگی پیامبر اسلام، محمد می‌پردازد. در این کتاب وقایع پس از شروع تاریخ اسلامی (مقارن با هجرت به مدینه) به ترتیب سال تنظیم شده و تا سال ۲۹۳ هجری شمسی را در بر می‌گیرد.

تاریخ طبری شامل دو بخش کلی است:

تاریخ پیش از اسلام: بخش پیش از اسلام مشهورترین، مهم‌ترین قسمت آن است و نویسنده این بخش از کتاب را پس از پایان تفسیر طبری تألیف نمود.
پس از اسلام: در تاریخ پس از اسلام این کتاب، نویسنده وقایع را به صورت وقایع نگاری نقل می‌کند. این بخش (پس از اسلام) خود مشتمل بر سه بخش جداگانه دیگر است.
نکته در خور توجه این است که طبری از چه سالی شروع به نوشتن کتاب‌های خود کرده‌است ؟ برخی می‌گویند که او در سال ۲۱۰ ه‍.ق شروع به تحریر کتاب خود کرده‌است و برخی روایت‌ها حاکی از آن است که طبری بخش تاریخ عباسیان را در کتاب جداگانه‌ای به نام القطعین تألیف کرده‌است و این خود نشان دهنده این است که طبری تاریخ خود را فقط تا پایان دوره عباسیان نوشته‌است.
