Trust me, I know… I took my first trip in 1983 and have done numerous trips since then. What’s more… we’re currently on the field. Short Term Missions Success was written with you in mind. Participation in short-term missions (STM) opportunities has skyrocketed since the 1990s. Participants leave with great expectations which are shared by supporters and local churches back home. From correctly discerning God’s will to navigating responsibilities (and fatigue) on the field, there are a few things you can do to increase the chances that your expectations will be met and surpassed. More than anyone, God wants your STM trip to be a out of short-term missions, He wants you to experience long-term growth. That’s what this book is about. Mike took his first STM trip in 1983. Just barely into his teen years then, his continued participation in STM endeavors, throughout his teens, planted in him a keen awareness of the difference a young person could make. He also became aware of the difference that such experiences could make in him. He participated in several other STM trips during his twenties and when on an STM hiatus as “daily life” kicked in following his marriage and during his kids’ toddler years. He and his family were never far from ministry in the local church however and, like Paul and Barnabas, it was as they served that God sent them out again, this time to France, where they have been since 2015. Mike is a fierce believer in the positive effect that STM experience can have in the life of a young person. He should; he’s the product of STM. I received this book at the Global Connections Go-Next conference last year. Due to starting at college I just got the chance to finish it. This book has incredible insight and tips. It holds so much valuable information for those interested in missions involvement. It has answered so many of my personal questions and gave resources to apply them. Thank you for this book it’s one I will treasure and use for years to come!
