Broken Boys Despise Deceit

Friends with benefits are all fun and games until someone goes and catches feelings…

Unfortunately, that idiot would be me. I didn’t know how or when it happened, I just knew I couldn’t let it change things between Scout and me.

But with one wrong move, the choice was taken away from me and she skipped town without so much as a goodbye.

For over a year I’m left wondering what made her run. But nothing could have prepared me for the truth. I hate secrets and despise lies, yet she’s guilty of both.

I need to figure out how to trust her again because there's only one thing I know for sure right now... I can't let her slip through my fingers a second time.

*Broken Boys Despise Deceit is a new adult, second chance, love triangle, contemporary romance involving a friends with benefits arrangement gone wrong. It is the third book in the Broken Boys series and can be read on its own or enjoyed in series order.

Mase and Scouts friends with benefits situation was working for Scout until Mase wants more and let’s just say that doesn’t go as planned lol. These two were so cute but even though I understand why Scout is the way she is I think certain situations could of been dealt with better but I loved how she did change over the course of the book and Mase is just perfect!!

This was really good I really enjoyed Scout and Mase’s story! This is a quick read but definitely packed a punch it touches on some heavy subjects which turned this into a emotional ride. I absolutely adored all the characters in this story I loved the chemistry between Scout and Mase even though Scout fought their connection at first I loved Mase he is definitely swoon worthy this book was filled with the perfect amount of humor angst and steam it brought out all the feels and it’s safe to say J.B. Heller has a new fan in me with this being my first book I’ve read by her I’ll definitely be reading prior books in this series! Excellent writing great characters definitely recommend!

Note: I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Note 2: These are all standalone novels. But please read in order, as previous characters do make cameos.

Trigger Warnings: abuse, drug abuse, cancer, death, panic attacks, fights, love-triangles.

Previous reviews:

1. Broken Boys Break Hearts: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...
2. Broken Boys Fight Harder: https://www.goodreads.com/review/show...

Well this novel did follow through with its title.

There's a love triangle - it's not that simple for scout, Kass, and Mase or two of them to get their HEA.
I have to start off by saying I hated Scout. Still resent her for her questionable decisions - how do you think the love triangle started?
Note to self: That's why you don't ask for more from someone, because apparently they could end up f--king up someone else - the horror!-baloney honestly - also the reason for the love triangle.
And poor Mase, he dared to ask for more or even like her. Like yes I get it, that she had issues, but didn't Mase as well? Apparently not cause Scout was so damn special. Sigh.
Anyway - still can't really gel with Scout and Mase together but whatever. It's outta my hands.

But everything else - I loved the emotional chemistry they all held - still detested Scout - the steamy chemistry, and how they try to figure out their demons and problems together - it was all difficult to handle but heartwarming anyway.

Everything else - the love triangle - really made for a letdown of a novel. They're all in their 20s, yet behave like petrified teenagers when making decisions. Sigh, a true letdown indeed.

Up next is Broken Boys Crave Chaos - Kass and his mystery love interest's story - coming April 12, 2022. So excited for that one, hopefully it'll be more awesome to read.

Until the hopefully next better read,

-TMR

TW: panic attacks, mentions of over dosing.

It was an okay read i liked it better than book 2 but it still left much to be desired. Probably the last book I'll read from this author.

this one was hard for me, but I highly recommend it!

Honestly, I struggled with this one. I DID NOT like Scout at the beginning of the book. And I still didn’t really love her at the end. The author did an amazing job creating a character with depth and flaws, and Scout was exactly as she should have been, regardless of my feelings towards her.
I don’t like Om/Ow drama, or love triangles as in this book. I adore this author and am definitely glad I read this story, but I still struggled.

Broken Boys Despite Deceit is a Friends with Benefit, Second Chance, Love Triangle Romance by J.B. Heller. The story is told through the multiple POVs and ultimately leads you on a truly super emotionally charged, angsty rollercoaster ride.

This story ended up being quite unexpected to me. Especially given the journey the narrative took you on. From the get go, it led to me to guess in my belief of knowing what was to come. However that was not the case at all, considering the further the story pulled me in, the more surprised and confused at times it made me.
With all the twists that J.B. Heller threw in, it actually had me scratching my head intrigued to know where the story would go next. Seeing as the narrative ended up being quite adventurous given the drama, angst, the mystery and not just from the secrets that caused emotional turmoil for Scout and Mase throughout. Leading you to feel every which way, from what the characters were experiencing.

Scout had me intrigued in the fact that she was an enigma hiding behind many layers, never really allowing anyone to get to close to her. Given the mask she put up, though mostly when it came to her and Mase’srelationship” they had going on.
Yet it’s what sucked me into the story even more, wanting to know more about Scout, given the secrets she seemed to be hiding that was alluded to at times.

Mase may have seemed like he was tough and strong given the mask he wore and showed the world. However underneath it hid a guy figuring out his feelings for the girl he thinking he may be falling for but too scared to acknowledge it, given the pain and hurt he is going through in regards to his current family situation. Ultimately choosing to keep his relationship with Scout as what it is, even though he knew he wanted more but just wouldn’t allow it.

My heart felt for Mase throughout the whole story, it was like he could never catch a break with everything he continued to endure. The pain, suffering and heartache, it had me wanting to comfort him and say that everything would be okay.
There were moments where Scout had me feeling sympathy for her too. All the suffering she endured throughout her life with having to go at it alone. Especially when her life gets flipped upside down.
However given the way she treated Mase and Kass, with what she did to them. To then go on and have the audacity of giving them smack, choosing to blame them for her own personal choices based on her own decisions alone. All whilst knowing that she was at fault to begin with. It made me want to shake her so she would come to her senses, while smacking her for the pain she caused the guys on top of acting like she was the only innocent victim in it all.
If anything Mase and Kass were way too nice, giving Scout more than she deserved. The way they were lenient with her, setting aside their feelings and pain by putting her first which she didn’t really deserve.
In all honesty Broken Boys Despise Deceit was painful and a little tough when it came to taking in the emotional turmoil that poured throughout the pages. Given what it made you feel deep within from the intensity of tension through, it was hard to absorb. But it’s what reeled me in with devouring the book in close to a one sitting read.

My only critique was whilst reading through the beginning of the story, the first few chapters in the storyline seemed and felt quite fast paced IMO. Given the way the plot was, it seemed to be rushing through, leading to the narrative being choppy and not having that smooth and seamless pacing flow IMO. Ultimately actually causing me to be sceptical of the rest of the storyline and whether it pace itself out, which it did thankfully.

Happy to say with Broken Boys Despise Deceit being my first read by the author J.B. Heller, she did a good job overall in writing Scout and Mase’s story. So much so, that she most definitely won me over as a reader and a fan by the end.

Oh boy this was a story I wasn’t prepared for. Mase and Scout’s story was filled so many emotions I wasn’t prepared for…

Mase and Scout has been having a no strings attached hookup type of relationship. But then as always feelings get involved and things doesn’t go the way they want it. Mase was always the one who did hookups no strings so he wasn’t prepared for the feelings that Scout brough out in him. So when he tells her how he feels she totally freaks out and leaves. And nobody understood what was happening with her… Now it’s a year later and she is back but things are not what it seems…

I have read a book from this author before and this one was not what I expected but I was hooked from the start. Scout annoyed me when she left but I understood why she did it. She had to first work on herself before she could be anything to anyone else. Mase holy hotness, my kind of guy 😊 I cant say too much as I think is a story you will have to read on your own and go through all the emotions 😊 But I can definitely say GIVE IT A TRY, you wont be disappointed 😊❤❤

This was a quick read, but definitely had some harder topics discussed throughout. I enjoyed just about every moment of it. I will admit tears fell a couple times, but I chalk that up to me being an emotional reader.

Scout has been through SO MUCH in her life, and when I read her story, my heart was shattered. Yet seeing how she overcame and persevered was so good. The relationship that she had with Mase was only meant to be a FWB situation, it was never supposed to be more. So when that scene happened, I knew it was trouble in paradise for them.

Mase thought he was only interested in a FWB relationship. He didn't have any desire for long term. Until he caught feelings. Those feelings were crushed though, and he had to battle through the heartache.

Then there's Kass. He's always had a crush on Scout, but she didn't feel the same. So when she turned to him in a time of pain, that relationship changed.

I'm ready for the next book in the series.

Love love love Mase and Scout's story! This one hit me more with all of the emotions. Scout and Mase have a good thing going. No feelings just hookups, but things change when real feelings start to change. After Scout does the unthinkable she flees not realizing she's leaving behind a lot. My heart broke for Scout and Mase these two have so many huge obstacles in their life right now. I laughed and cried and then cried some more for these two but I loved seeing how there worlds collide again. Such a great addition to this series and now I am dying for Kass's book. Loved him from the beginning and I need his HEA!!

Scout has been happy with the casual relationship she shared with Mase and thought he felt the same. When he decides that what they share is not enough she reacts impulsively and unable to handle the aftermath she leaves town.

Mase was hurt when Scout disappeared after he declared his feelings especially since he desperately needed her support due to other things going on in his life. When she returns a year later will this be their second chance or is the pain of the past too much to overcome?

Mase and Scout are exactly what the other needs in their lives but before they can have a future together they must deal not only with the past but the present as well.

I loved this book! While it's not an overly long, drawn out story, it still managed to pack an emotional punch I wasn't entirely prepared for, but it definitely enhanced the story. There's already plenty of chemistry between Mase and Scout (given their current non-relationship status), but things change when someone catches feelings and wants more.

I was greatly impressed with Scout, given all she's had to deal with in her life, and how much she overcame in dealing with said issues. I was definitely surprised with the change in heart about relationships and long-term commitment, seeing as that wasn't on anyone's radar at the start. Of course there's more to the book, but I don't want to reveal too much, although I'm hoping the next book is about a character who's got a crush on someone we've already met in this series.

This is a love triangle, friends with benefits, second chance romance. There are multiple twists and turns that keep you hooked.

Mase is introduced as the quintessential fboy. He is his father's caretaker as he has cancer and needs palliative care.

Scout is emotionally avoidant in relationships like Mase. They have a friends with benefits relationship (meaning some very hot spicy scenes!) that works for a while…. until their feelings become complicated.

Both characters are literally the avoidant attachment style in a nutshell. JB Heller writes very complex characters who feel realistic and are relatable. I was definitely curious to see how a relationship between two emotionally distant people would work.

What I loved:

The tension and longing between the Scout and her love interests was impeccably crafted, I felt butterflies and excitement every time there was a cute interaction, flirting, or a spicy scene. Mase is a dirty talk KING and I WISH there were more spicy scenes.

I felt so seen when I read about Mase and Scout's issues, I was genuinely shocked at how realistic their thoughts and feelings seemed. I felt like I was reading about myself at times. This book felt so weirdly comforting to read and I connected deeply with the characters so it felt like I was home when I was in their world.

For me, the best part and the most well developed part of this book was Scout's character arc. My only critique would be that we don't actually see how she grows- we just know that she went to therapy. I loved how the author explored other aspects of the character’s experience aside from the romance.

I especially loved how the author explored the reality of living with and taking care of a parent who requires palliative care. I thought these issues were sensitively written, with a lot of compassion and care. The writing style was great- crisp and descriptive.

Also, I’m in love with Kass, and I can't wait for his book!!

Lastly, I LOVED the little illustrations incorporated into the chapter heading names- it was a really nice touch in terms of formatting.

What I didn’t love:

I felt like there wasn't much relationship development between Mase and Scout to convince me that they actually cared about each other’s personalities and wanted to be with each other beyond just sex. The only 'relationship development' was the spicy scenes. There was nothing substantial to show any true compatibility between them nor any reason for their ‘emotional connection’. The author tries to convince us that Mase is essentially in love with Scout, but I didn’t see any reason apart from their physical attraction. How is Mase in love with her? We never saw them interacting much apart from having sex. The meaningful relationship-building and cute moments that DO happen are very well written and gave me butterflies. JB Heller is clearly good at building up relationship tension, so I wish she had focused on that more. I felt like the only reason why they end up together is because "they make sense" and I didn't actually feel the "love" between them.

Perhaps this is because this book mainly focuses on the character’s development as individuals vs cute romance. If this is your cup of tea, then I would definitely recommend this book as my critique is down to personal preference.

Another thing that bothered me was a trope that occurred around the 40% mark. There's a trope in here that can be quite divisive, so make of that what you will- I personally am not fond of it, but I thought the author wrote it really well and I actually enjoyed it by the end of the book. If you're open-minded, then I’m sure you won’t have any problem with it because the author explores it very well, with the full emotional impact.
____________

Overall, this book had a deep impact on me and I enjoyed the reading experience and felt like I came away with a lot to reflect on. If you want a quick read, focusing on complex characters with trauma and a twisty plot, I recommend this.

I decided to check out this book due to a Tiktok that had a quote from the book that peaked my interest. However, after reading it I am glad it was such a short story. It's only got 186 pages on KU/ estimated time for finishing 3 Hours and 43 Minutes. This is not a stand alone story and I guess reading the other books would have immensely helped. They author references a lot of other couples in the story and you get the feeling that you don't have all the story about everyone which makes some interactions weird. It had potential for some really strong emotions but the author seemed to shy away from really letting the characters feel their pain and kinda handled them with kiddy gloves in my opinion. The beginning was great in my opinion because it was full of passion and emotions. The darkness and the potential for growth from all the characters. However, after Scout comes back, the emotions flare up and then quickely die down. I am not sure how believable the way the characters interacted was. To me, Scout came off as very spoiled and while I can respect that she had a traumatic past, it doesn't excuse her from the choices she made. She tries to own up to that when Mase finally lets his feelings out and says that he is allowed to feel the way he does and she can acknowledge that due to the work she has done with her therapist...then in the next scene tells him that she won't be his punching bag forever...when all he is doing is being honest with his feelings about how she left things. I will give the author credit that she decided to write about what how Scouts decision left Mase but I also feel like they made up to fast.
World Building: There was little world building. It might have been done in one of the previous books.
Characters: I liked Mase, Zeke and Chance but most of the other characters seemed like they were too perfect or got over their feelings faster. They grew but I am not sure how much I actually believe that it was true growth. More like they just spackled over their feelings so they wouldn't dwell on it.
Plot: ... Um ... yeah. No comment
Emotional Impact: It had potential but seemed like the author was scared to really dig into those nitty gritty, not so perfect feelings.
Do I need this in my Library? No. Would I reread this? Probably not. Will I go back and read the beginning stories or the next one? No & No.
There were things I liked about the story...But there was more that I didn't.

It was supposed to be a casual thing, no feelings, no attachments, and definitely no love... but somewhere along the way they both caught feelings. One of them wanted to explore them, the other wanted no part of them and did the first thing they could think of and ran. Until Scout came along Mase had never done repeats with a girl, he was strictly a no-strings kind of guy. But the sassy mouthed beauty found a way past all his defenses and had him thinking things he never had before... like becoming a one woman kind of man. But then she got cold feet and ran before he had a chance to confess his feelings.

He hasn't heard from her in a whole year, and just as he starts to give up on ever seeing her again, he spots her in a parking lot. He has to know why she left... but will he like the answers she gives?

Broken Boys Despise Deceit is a emotionally charged romance that will test the durability of your heart... it's words are bound to break every bit of you. With each page I turned the deeper I fell into these characters complicated lives and the more obsessed with them I became... I had questions and needed answers, even though I was definitely not prepared for what I found. My heart broke for these two and all the pain their lives had dealt them.

At times I struggled to understand Scout's motives, but I held out hope that eventually it would all make sense. That poor girl had definitely been through the wringer. And poor Mase just couldn't catch a break, with his father's cancer and his constant worry over losing him, then he finds love for the first time and the girl just bails on him... he really gave my heart a work-out. As we all know love isn't always sunshine and rainbows or perfection, it's often trying and messy... and these two are definitely a testament to that! They went through a lot of mess before their happily ever after could find them! If you like romances that leave you emotionally exhausted then you will love what you find between the pages here... it's words will take you on one heck of an emotional rollercoaster! It's a can't miss tale!

I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.

Delivered a major punch

BROKEN BOYS DESPISE DECEIT by J.B. Heller

Oh wow this book was everything I didn’t know I wanted for Mase ugly parts and all. I loved this book as well as Mase and Scout. They have this arrangement of sorts. They have a friends with benefits relationship but not really friends so acquaintances with benefits is more like it. They both have some very heavy baggage but it just makes them so much more relatable and likable throughout the book. Mase is a great guy and very alpha male and wants to be known as the guy who doesn’t catch feelings and has this huge guard up after all the issues he is going through . Scout is a very bad ass girl in the outside which was perfect for Mase but underneath she has some very heavy issues to deal with. This book was a quick read but let me tell you it is definitely packing a heavy punch. I loved how the author touches on some heavy subjects and makes the characters so layered which turned this book into a not only a hookup book but to an emotional ride for both. I absolutely adored all the characters in this story. I loved the chemistry between Scout and Mase. I must say though i wanted to smack Scout when she fought their connection at the beginning. As for Mase he is a major man slut to everyone yet had so much more to him he was definitely swoon worthy. To me this book was filled with the perfect amount of humor angst and steam to bring out all of the feels throughout. I will leave it at this because trust me this is a book you want to read and find stuff out for yourself. However I will tell you that you should definitely grab this book and GIVE IT A TRY, you wont be disappointed. Highly recommend.

what a journey, loved it!

This is book 3 in the Broken Boys Series. Mase and Scout have been having a no strings attached relationship for over a year now and although their chemistry is off the charts, she doesn’t want anything beyond hooking up. Mase on the other hand has caught feelings for Scout. When he’s ready to open up to her, she has a panic attack (he didn’t know this was a thing for her) and he decides to give her space. She ends up worse than she’s been in the past and decides to call Kass (her best friend’s Chance, nephew) to help her out… what she wasn’t counting on was hooking up with Kass 😬 so she skips town and leaves everyone in her live wondering what on earth happened. Fast forward twelve months and Scout is back, just not alone… will they be able to navigate this triangle mess and will they (or at least some of them) get a HEA?

This book wasn’t what I was expecting out of Mase and Scout’s story but I must say I’m pleasantly surprised how it turned out. Mase 😍 what a man, strong, determined and so freaking alpha! Love him! Scout is pretty bad a** as well if you ask me, she wasn’t happy with the way she handled the situation between her and Kass and Mase, so she decided to remove herself from it and work on being a better person, girl power! And Kass *swoon*, oh my sweet, smart and hot Kass. All I can say is that I can’t wait for your book 😍
I also loved how the three of them handled the situation, very mature for their age (early 20s) and knowing what really mattered! Loved that! Finally, I also loved seeing a little bit more of Carter and Chance (book 2) Carter is my man 😍😍😍

J.B. Heller did a fantastic job in providing a great story that will have you reading way past your bedtime and needing a cold shower as well. I loved every bit of the book, it has so much angst, drama, super sexy romance, sweetness, wonderful friendships, an amazing storyline and so much more! Mase & Scout start the story as friends with benefits but both think they may be feeling more for the other but neither feel like they can handle a traditional relationship. When Mase starts to try, Scout runs but not before hooking up with her close friend Kass. Mase & Kass are left as confused as her close friends not knowing what made her run but each thinking it is their fault.

Scout makes a dramatic return with a surprise that neither Mase nor Kass expects but both handle this surprise better than anyone would every expect. There is so much more to this story, past childhood trash, losing a parent, celebrating new additions and many other wonderul moments. I laughed, I cried and I truly enjoyed Broken Boys Despise Deceipt. This is the first book I have read in this series so I will definitely be going back and reading the previous books since I enjoyed this story so much. For those looking for a terrific romance you definitely don't want to miss out on this book. If you haven't read any of the prior books I recommend reading them first because many previous friends and relationships are brought up in this story, although I was able to read this book as a standalone just fine, there were people and moments I wished I knew more about. No matter what series or standalone I highly recommend this read!!!

☆☆☆☆
Broken Boys Despise Deceit was one hell of an emotional ride. I related so clearly with the female main character. It was like I was reading about myself which made me dislike Scout quite a bit but it’s only due to my own self-destructive mentality.
What happens when a friends with benefits relationship gets complicated because one of the partners develops feelings? When Mase bares his feelings to Scout, she doesn’t respond well. She wouldn’t or couldn’t let it change things between them. She ends up running without even saying goodbye. This girl was a wreck and my heart really went out to Mase. Both have difficult pasts and current paths. For over a year, he struggles with questions only she can answer. The truth was a gut punch he could have never prepared for. The reality? He couldn’t stand secrets and lies and she was an expert. Now that she’s back, he knows he can’t let her go again. He will have to learn how to forgive and trust again.
Books that make me feel are my therapy and this one provided that tenfold. This was my first book by JB Heller and it won’t be the last. This emotional, angst-fueled ride pulled me along and wouldn’t let go. I loved the twists along with the layered and mysterious plot. The characters were well developed but Scout still rubbed me wrong but my heart easily fell for Mase. I definitely recommend this story. This is my honest opinion, freely given.

So, this is a new to me Author, and I can't even recall how I discovered this book, but I'm so glad that I did. After trying to find a story to grab my attention, this book took hold after just one chapter and didn't let go.

Now, this book is described as a "new adult, second chance, love triangle, contemporary romance involving a friends with benefits arrangement gone wrong", and yes, it is all of those things. While I'm not opposed to a love triangle, I wasn't really in the mood for having my heart ripped out (which triangles sometimes do), but I went ahead with this one anyway. Again, I'm so glad that I did. This "love triangle" is truly unlike any that I've read before. As a matter of fact, this entire story is original and refreshing with a storyline that consumed me until the very end.

At first, I'll admit that I wasn't sure if I liked Scout. Her attitude and actions definitely put her on my bad side for a few chapters, but eventually, I could understand her motives. Mase...I loved from the very beginning, and as I always pick a favorite in any triangle, well...he was always it for me.

I read this book in almost one sitting and I really didn't want to put it down until I knew how this story would end. Although this is the first book that I've read by this author, I definitely want to go back and read the first books in this series and check out more of her other works too.

I been waiting for these two since Chance and Carter and in one word dang. The thing is though we see these two again there were still a lot of things about Scout that was missing. She is complicated one minute, shy the next and then just when she decides what she wants life throws her a curveball. Mase is perfect for her yet one thing for sure is he knows what he wants and doesn't stop in getting what he wants. Just like Scout we see two sides of Mase, the man who wants to be strong for Scout and the little boy who just wants his father forever. Then we have Kass, friend of Scout dreaming of so much more. Two men who are there for Scout yet only one is really in her heart which just makes Scouts life more confusing. This is one of those stories that makes you believe everyone deserves love even though who are scared of the happily ever after. Loved it.

It's Scouts turn! We know from previous books that Scout has had an ongoing unofficial fling with Made and needless to say,, it would only last so long before feelings became an issue.
Then we have Kass (I love Kass) and he's been in love with Scout since he met her.

Complicated? We haven't even started!!!

Scout does a runner, but why is the question?!
Mase is going through a tough time, his dad is seriously ill, he's lost Scout yet doesn't know why and he's running on empty. I just wanted to grab, tell him to take a breath and just calm but it was pointless. When you're missing something or someone then nothing matters until they're back.

But what happens when they comeback with extras this time and it's not just you anymore??

An intense read, a lot of emotions, friendships pushed to their limits, fears made known, secrets and 3 people maturing - and I absolutely adored that!

Seriously enjoyed this and can't wait for book 4!!

Usually love triangle is not my choice to read and after I read an epilogue of Carter and Chance's story, I fear that this book would be a reverse harem which is also not my choice. Turns out, I enjoy reading this book the most of all 3 books from Broken Boys series. This is about second chance and secret baby for Mase and Scout but Kass is also involved because he just got Scout at her weakness. The story is beautifully written and their relationship is wonderful. It begins with steamy scenes to show how great connection between Mase and Scout have. Both Mase and Scout have their own issues so there would be angsty and heart-wrenching moments. The story focuses on Mase and Scout but Kass also has his POV to confirm how Mase and Scout love each other. I like that all three of them are so mature and care for each other. This book can be read as a standalone but I recommend you read Broken Boys Fight Harder first because you would understand Mase and Scout's relationship better. Can't wait for Kass's story because he is a good guy and I want him to find his own happy ending.

This series from JB Heller gets better with every book. This was so filled with that romantic turmoil that I had to put it down a few times to let myself recover…

Scout and Mase are friends with benefits and this charade has been working… until feelings become more involved. And Scout, struggling with her own past trauma needs to back away before she lets Mase see the real messy side of her.

One night of just trying to momentarily escape the world outside leads to the realization that she messed up big time and it sends Scout fleeing, leaving not one, but two people reeling from her departure.

Mase was ready to admit he wanted more with Scout and when she up and leaves, he really tries to find her… but she doesn’t want to be found.

12 months later, Mase sees the girl he lost in a parking lot and so much has changed. Scout is back home and they have more than some unresolved problems to work out. Can they do it without hurting others? Or hurting themselves in the process?

Mase and Scout had so much potential. I really loved Mase. He‘s such a sweetheart. He absolutely has his faults but everyone has them.
I couldn‘t get warm with Scout. She made alot of decision I didn‘t or couldn‘t understand even after the reason why she did it or felt that way where revealed.

I felt like this story could‘ve been much more than it was. The author could‘ve explored both characters a bit more. It sometimes felt very rushed for me.

I seriously love the covers in this series and its one of the reasons why I picked up these books. The tropes and blurbs also really interested me but after reading this book it will probably be my last one from this author. I just don‘t feel the characters and the writing. It feels like a first time author for me instead of one who has already many books published.

I did however like the secret baby Harley and the drama around his paternity. And obviously I loved Mase alot.

I love this series so freaking much!!!

This was an emotional ride!! This is Mase and Scouts story and it their story is HEAVY!!

Mase and Scout have a friends with benefits arrangement. It works for them, until real feelings start coming up. When Mase decides he wants more with Scout, she gets overwhelmed (due to past trauma) and she shows Mase a different side to herself. After one night, she runs and is gone for a year. Mase tries to find her, but she didnt want to be found. When Scout is back home, Made sees her in a parking lot and wants nothing more than to resolve their problems and make her his.

I love this book!!! Mase is perfect for Scout and i just love them together. Broken Boys Despise Deceit really takes you on an angst and emotion filled rollercoaster ride!! JB Heller writes such beautiful books and I'm now a forever fan after this series!!!

Scout & Mase have a sexy good thing going with their friends with benefits arrangement. Here's the amazing part, it's Mase who starts catching feelings first (isn't it refreshing when the man goes down first?!), which has Scout panicking & she's definitely a flight risk so she runs. Her decision really hurt the both of them, but she just can't get past her issues for a cool minute. The bumps in the road really did my heart in, as it broke for both of them as they were on this chaotic journey. My emotions were a wreck throughout, but I found myself calling the heroine (this is very rare) names of the colorful variety to be honest. Scout is gone for more than just a month or two, and when she returns, will they be able to deal with everything that happened or is it too late?! Well, you know what to do to find out as I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

This is book #3 in The Moments series. Books are interconnected and are best enjoyed read in order. Don’t worry, it’s totally worth the time. These boys need the love and no ordinary woman will do. Mase and Scout are two peas in a pod, sexual chemistry just oozing off of them, but both have heavy baggage. This is a second chance romance that brings drama and angst that come with making a decision that ultimately effects more than the two people involved.

Mase and Scout have a good friends with benefits thing going, but they both are catching the feels. When Scout’s past rears it’s nasty head she seeks comfort and not from Mase. Guilt ridden she runs leaving everyone behind. And, when she returns a year later she has lots of explaining to do.

This ends in a HEA…with Easter eggs about the next book. So, don’t worry everyone involved is going to be a-ok.

This is the third book in the series and can be read as a standalone but I'd definitely recommend reading the first 2 books first to fully enjoy the back story if the characters.
I especially like reading about how the lives of the characters from the other books develop and how they impact each new story.

I was quite surprised by how this story turned out as I definitely wasn't expecting the twists that happened.

Mase is such a great character, he is extremely strong on the outside but keeps so much emotional stuff to himself.

As with the other 2 books, this is a quick read with steamy sex scenes, but this one is has multiple POVs throughout.

Overall, I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to book four.

This is the third book in this amazing series and this story is told in multiple POV’s. Scout and Mase have a friends-with-benefits relationship, until feeling come into play, and she runs for a year, and when she returns Mase understandably wants answers. Scout hides behind a façade and does not allow people to get close to her, but will Scout be able to break through her barriers? This is a well written addition to this series, and is an emotional roller coaster, and is raw, gritty, and intense, with second chances, secrets, lies, deceit, angst, regret, tension, twists, mystery, and love, which all leads to an all-compelling addictive page turner. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.

Being new to Ms.Heller's work i've been looking forward to getting into her books! As soon as i found out about the Broken Boys books i knew i had to pick them up first! I got into this one as soon as i could and was pulled in. I enjoyed this third installment!

Mase and Scout's journey got my attention! It wasn't an easy one. I wasn't sure how everything was going to play out for these two which i really liked. I enjoyed the heat between them and how both characters had me feeling many things.

With Broken Boys Despise Deceit, Ms.Heller has created a good read! I'm looking forward to going back and reading the first two installments!
