Coming to Black Veil University irreversibly changed my life.

Meeting Daxton Pierce flipped it on end and made me question everything I know.

My memories and my family had been ripped from me. I have been stalked, tortured, abandoned, and betrayed… but I’m not broken.

This world is not what I thought it to be, and while my new relationships only grow stronger by the day, tensions rise, bringing new and old enemies to our door.

Only this time, I don't have to face them alone.

I’ve learned there are worse things in life than the monsters hiding in the shadows, and I’m done cowering in fear.

Knight Awakened is book 4 of 5 in the Black Veil University. This is a university-aged, Paranormal RH romance between 1 FMC and her 6 mates, which means there will be no choosing between love interest at the end of the story.

Black Veil University has darker elements that readers should be aware of such as, strong language, PTSD from kidnapping, assault, and violence.

Loved it!!!! This series keeps on getting better. Reading how each character progresses and seeing the development that is undertaken is truly amazing.

DNF @ 39%. It's been a while since I read the previous book and it took me forever to realize what was going on. However, when things finally came back to me and I got back into the story I just found myself incredibly bored. Especially with an MC that keeps putting herself in harm's way in a misguided attempt to protect those she loves with zero ability to do so, causing everyone around her to scramble to cover her. And then all the arguing between the MMCs got old.

Continuously leaving the books on these big cliff hangers and then releasing them so far apart is quite annoying, and if you’re consistently going through new series it becomes difficult to remember all the details.
I don’t recall Dani being such an annoying FMC, however in this book she should win a prize for being over the top. The multi chapter fight scene that lasted about 20% of the book was ridiculous and unnecessary. Dani being reckless and running into situations with no thought or plan is infuriating, putting others more at risk with her stupid decisions. I was reading this and questioned out loud if she has always been this stupid and irritating.
The men being possessive and fighting over her is annoying, and you can tell the author has favourites in the male characters.
Overall dissatisfied and won’t be finishing.

I didn't like the ending of this book and I have to agree with other reviewers that this series is beginning to kinda drag on but I still love the group and have this odd feeling that her harem can still grow a little bit more. I guess we shall see, won't we?

Makes us women seem dumb

I'm sorry but you really make all of us women look bad. She runs head on into danger without being trained because she thinks she can be useful??? She willingly puts herself and the ones she loves in danger. These other men have had years of experience and to tell younger women who think that would be the best course of action is irresponsible. I would never put my loved ones in danger with my inexperience and I would hope other women wouldn't be so selfish no matter they are feeling. I understand trying to make an intriguing story but it makes instead seem dimwitted and all us other females in the process. I have seen other books where the FMC does it once and then sees her folly since she is young and then doesn't do it again but to keep on going? Not apologizing? ... Really?

I like this series a lot. I would definitely recommend this series to anyone who likes PNR RH books. I think it is generally well-written and the characters are pretty solid.

Danica is fine, but the men are fantastic. I love their relationships with Dani and with each other. I get nervous when RHs have more than 4-5 men because I think that often times, the characters suffer as a result of having to spread out the attention, but in this case, I think all 6 of the guys are well done. It feels like this book is a bit heavy on Daxton, but maybe it's not (Daxton is just not one of my favorites because he can't share + the whole drama with Madison made me annoyed at him). I binged the first 4 books over the course of a week, so I may be mixing up what happened in each book.

I'm really looking forward to Irene being out of the picture. I hate other women drama, and it feels like book 5 is pretty late in a series to still be dealing with another woman from the start of the series. I'm also predicting that Kayla will have her own little group of men made up of Porter, Sol, Atlas, and Rick. Not really sure where Ryder fits in because he has almost no dialogue/scenes in these books, but he is mentioned often.

Also it's annoying that Dani doesn't know who her father is yet when we were essentially told/hinted as to who it is during one of her dreams/flashbacks very early in the series. At this point, I'm annoyed that I know (and I think we met him briefly through Dom in book 4?), but Danica/her guys don't know.

Looking forward to reading book 5! Hoping that something good finally happens to these characters because it feels like they're always getting outsmarted and are 10 steps behind Dante/Josh/Nox/Azriel/all the other big bads.

Talk about giving Gabe a character arch. How is it that the man I was supposed to hate - ends up finding a way deeper into my heart than the men who acted with honor from the beginning?

I mean who doesn't love watching something that broke be put back together and watching Gabe finally allow Danica's pressence in his life put him back together again is just warming my very cold heart.

This author truly knows how to do the 'bully' or 'I hate you' tactic so well. They made him come across like nothing but an asshole, then slowly started giving us inside into why he could be acting like that but we still aren't being proven that he has actually changed and or is doing things for the right reasons.

Skip forward to her finally figuring out that it's a violet tattoo inside his arm, it's his magic that she now pulls on when she feels in danger and through actions like his approach to explaining to Remi why he had such an issue with him - he is proving time and time again that not only is he a better man now but that even unbeknownst to Gabe himself, he has been that man all along he just was simply fighting against becoming him and now he is fighting to be him.

Dani and crew are still kicking booty and I’m here for it! This story picks up right where book 3 left off. Things are dire and you can tell right off the bat that big changes are coming.

Dani has some new obstacles to overcome in addition to the ones she was already dealing with. There are some strains in a few of her relationships that need tending, mostly due to outside forces. We meet some new folks, both friends and foes (and some still undetermined). The story feels like it moves fast, with lots of action and suspense.

There’s a lovely amount of spice in this book, a bit more than in the previous stories. I enjoy the direction Dani’s relationships go as they discover more information about what Dani is, and how the bonds came about.

I’m biting my nails, waiting anxiously for the next book!

What I liked: more communication between Dani and some of her dudes, more sexy times, and more answers to questions.

What I didn't like: the big multi-chapter fight in the beginning and feeling like the bad guys are too powerful for our crew to defeat.

This is a great series and I would absolutely recommend it to fans of paranormal or fantasy romance. I like all the dudes and Dani's relationship with each. I do wish that the men would figure out amongst themselves how to share Dani equitably without her having to stress about it. That's always my hope for all RH books.

I knew it was gonna happen, and I got upset anyway. That cliffhanger ending is even more frustrating than the last one. I know they are all going to be OK in the end because this is a romance, but I'm not sure my heart can handle the wait for the next and last book.

Why are reviews so hard sometimes? Maybe I'll break it down into words ...
Action, power upgrades, sexy times, power plays, enjoyable, Cliffhanger.
Although I enjoyed the book and it feels like a lot happened, I don't feel like the plot actually progressed. Seriously. They're still fighting the same bad guy, the action scenes are reciprocal, and we end up back more or less where we started. Rinse and repeat.

In the exciting 4th book, the RH is finally coming together. The angels are proving to not just be unhelpful but kind of bad guys in their own right. Our FMC has started to figure things out, and the actual bad guy is on all of their heals. And then, once again; there is yet another cliffhanger ending.

Call me delusional, but I was really hoping that in book 4 of the series it would be going somewhere finally. But no, it really didn’t. So much of the buildup and characters in the story we’re not utilized or used or done justice in my opinion. Like why even have Kayla and Alice in the series at all? I feel like they’re forced female characters and they add absolutely nothing and especially Kayla with her vague issues that we never really get any clear Information on. It’s just super annoying and nonsensical.
I also feel like some of her MMC relationships are very superficial and you just don’t really feel the chemistry between them. Especially with Remington and that makes me so sad because he was her best friend for 10 years so they should have the deepest bond. But he seems more like just a casual roommate than anything else and that’s just sad to me.
And don’t even get me started on the character Atlas because that is just so confusing and nothing about him makes any sense. I feel like the author went back-and-forth and back-and-forth with what she wanted to do with him and she just never came to a real conclusion. So again, another filler character that is constantly around, but for no real purpose and we don’t really get any storyline that makes sense with him just like Kayla.
And then we have the psycho stalker that the author keeps trying to hype up occasionally that nothing at all happens with and again he’s not really needed in the storyline in my opinion. All the focus should’ve went on the main bad guy, Dante. But even his storyline hasn’t gone anywhere and he hasn’t really done anything in four whole books.
I don’t know. I feel like this series had potential, but that the author couldn’t pull it off.
And another thing that has been driving me nuts is that I feel like I’ve read this exact series somewhere else. I don’t know if she released the series also under a different pen name or if she stole this idea from somebody or somebody stole this idea from her. Because the entire time I’m reading this series, I feel like I’ve read it before even though I know I didn’t read it before by this author
Anyways, I don’t even know if I’m gonna read the last book. It’s just been so tedious and boring.

THE END HAD ME SCREAMING!!! Like the last five pages I was so stressed then the “To be continued” hit and my dad walked in to the room as I was screaming and cursing. Needless to say the cliffhanger is awful and I will be IMPATIENTLY awaiting book 5.

RH/Fae-Shifter-Angel-Demon/College

SYNOPSIS (5 Book Series): The FC was orphaned at age 8 and left with her aunt and uncles to be raised having gone through a series trauma and having no memory of her first 8 years. She goes to Black Veil University and becomes mated to 6Ms. The story centres around Dante, the father of one of her mates and how he has been kidnapping and experimenting on fae children to turn them into super soldiers. She also meets her BFF. The story arc is around the development of the FCs bonds, her regaining her memories and the group trying to stop Dante from continuing his nefarious plan! There are interactions with Demons and Angels as well as other supernaturals. Book 5 culminates in the big showdown and HEA.

On the whole this series was enjoyable but it went on for too long. It felt like the story was in a holding pattern of Dante being and doing bad things, lots of sex but the story not actually moving forward or evolving until the end of Book 5. The story is not particularly unique with the FC being orphaned, then finding out she is more than anyone thought she was, meeting the requisite spunky BFF on day 1, a bit of bullying by the main MC and a traumatic backstory for the FC and the MCs.

Whilst not unique the story was still readable but, as mentioned, it dragged and could have done with being condensed into maybe a trilogy. It was frustrating that Dante kept attacking, kidnapping children and doing bad things with apparently no repercussions and no stopping. The author glossed over how this was possible by saying that he controlled everyone. That still makes it very hard to believe that he could have got away with apparently everything he did such as mass demon attacks and kidnapping children whilst killing their families with noone investigating or asking questions. Unlike other series there also seemed to be no "wins" for the good guys. They were just permanently on the back foot reacting and not actively fighting Dante despite everything.

There were alot of sex scenes which I found to be not particularly sexy or hot and which were shoehorned in where possible and at what I felt were some particularly inopportune moments. The author seemed to feel that the characters would all be up for group sex after every battle where people were killed or maimed etc. Pretty sure that is going to be the last thing on your mind when your mates are injured.... In addition, considering how small the FC was supposed to be and how often she indulged in group sex I am not convinced she would be able to walk. Further, the FC seems to be another one of those virgins who apparently after sex once then is happy to hop into bed with multiple partners as often as possible. A bit OTT for me especially with 6 mates. For me 3 is optimal an 4 OK but anything more is ridiculous.

The MCs were likeable on the whole but I felt that due to the number (6) there was a distinct lack of development of each bond and individual relationship. Outside of the sex it seemed that the only reason that the FC and the MCs were together was because of their bond and not really through free will. I did not get the sense of any real individual relationship development except with possible Gabe and Remi. The characters themselves also felt underdeveloped in some instances (such as Roar the Gargoyle) and caricatures is some cases such as Zane and his dragon behaviour. The author could easily have dropped some of the MCs and the story would have been tighter.

Finally, after dragging the story out over 5 Books, I felt the climax was rushed and a let down. Due to various lame excuses the MCs had not been able to apparently take down or find Dante for years but then, all of a sudden, all the hinderances just vanish, they over hear someone talking of where Dante is and voila, there's a big showdown and everything is wound up neatly in a couple of chapters. It was disappointing to say the least. The whole ending felt rushed after an interminable lead up.

In summary, readable but I would not pay for the series, fortunately I got it on KU and I was skimming some sections by Book 3, especially the sex scenes.

My Rating: 4.5

I'm devouring this series, the more it goes along. I really enjoy the character dynamics & the found family trope in this. I would say this one is definitely more character-driven than plot driven, but I enjoy that in my books! (also, the intimacy scenes are 10/10).

I'm not sure I could pick a favourite character from this series - they are all amazing and important in their own ways. For instance, Remi is the childhood bestie and he is like her heart. Daxton is the calm in the storm with all the alpha-holes around, and he is very grounding for not only Dani but the whole group. Zane is low-key the mother of the group. I wish I had a dragon shifter who wanted to make me goodies every day. Roar is the comedic relief and the fun-loving, child-like spirit. Gabe is daddy. Lol... but for real he is. And Dom is just fascinating and majestic (to me, he kind of serves as a secondary Dax but with more Rhysand vibes - iykyk).

What I really want to dive into (and I have no idea if she gets her own books or what) is Kayla & the fuckery that is going on with her and her love life. I'm so perplexed by it all. I feel like she will follow in Dani's footsteps and collect the guys like Pokemon. I would love a Kayla book - she's fabulous.

I have a guess where this series is headed.

A few things didn't make sense in my mind...

Another roller coaster of a ride with the characters from Black Veil Univ. We pick up where we left off, right in the action. I feel like it doesn’t stop from there. I feel like I had to physically take breathers from this book because my heart couldn’t take it. I also needed to sit with my thoughts on the book before I wrote the review. For me, the story is on par with the likes of the Bonds that Tie series. I usually get bored with series by the 3rd book- especially if they are about the same characters. But this series is one of the few exceptions. There are so many strands of the story, and each of the guys interaction with Danica has its own flavor. We learn more about Dom, Roar gets broody, she butts heads with Gabe, but good things come of it. We see different sides of Dax, and Zane is well, Zane. And we see Remi being integrated a bit more. Meanwhile we have a host of outside characters too- what’s going on with Kayla, Alice and Atlas. Add in a new face in the mix- Sol…. (those are only the “good guys”) So. Much. Going. On. I think that’s the only reason I have to give this a 4.5 (rounded to 5) is that there is almost too much going on. But I am looking forward to how everything will come together in the last book. Its almost like all the loose ends are spilling out, putting all the cards on the table so to speak. Revelations are out on the table- what happened to Danica’s family is starting to become clear- a little, with some other hints that hopefully we’ll see more of. Dante’s master plan is still not 100% clear, and he surely has something else up his sleeve- some kind of master altercation will have to take care of him, Nox, Azriel, Josh (shudder, guy gives me the creeps)…etc etc etc….I’m having heart palpitations just thinking about how its all going to come to a head and explode in a giant volcano of an ending. I’m going to have to reread this series to prepare myself for the last book. Like I said before, this book has it all, action, relationships, steam, trauma, alpha-holes, squishy alphas, powerful FMC who is coming into it….. buckle up… its quite a ride!

This! This is the book I have been waiting for. Knight Awakened is the second last book in the Black Veil series, but so much happens in this one.

The book starts right where Knight Forsaken left off. Danica is trying to life share with Gabriel to save him after he was stabbed with demon bane. Before they have a chance to deal with those events demons show up at the school forcing Domenic to reveal his true nature.

Knight Awakened covers so much emotional ground. Now that Danica’s memories and powers are here and her bond with Gabe is back, we start to see who he is underneath the control and the walls he built. I really like who he’s proving himself to be. I also appreciated how Danica didn’t just forgive him with one apology. Gabriel has to continue to earn Danica’s forgiveness and her trust.

Dominic is also a great addition to the family. He is the light to Gabe’s darkness, and although he comes with issues of his own Dom is the lighter strong presence Danica needs. Plus Gabe and Dom’s struggles to find a balance after their years of friendship is hilarious in the way all alpha male dominance fights are. You know it would take 5 min to resolve if they acted as grown-ups and talked the issues out but they’d rather posture and fight about it.

Knight Awakened is also chock full of plot events, moving the series steadily forward to the final book. I don’t want to give anything away but the story resolved some issues and opened up more, leading to lots of questions and loose threads to be tied up. I’m anxiously waiting for book five, the need to know the answers to my questions is going to destroy me.

As with books 1-3 this addition to the series is wonderfully written, with unexpected twists and turns, some really good banter, a lot of spice, a best friend that continues to kick butt and an excess of baked goods.

If you’re a fan of this series, Knight Awakened is an incredible addition that is definitely worth reading. If you haven’t read Black Veil University, I highly recommend starting with book one.

I honestly can't praise this series enough, it's most likely one of my favorite ongoing series. This is book 4 of 5, so make sure you start from Knight Ascending and this book ends in a doozy of a cliffhanger!

One thing that I really liked with BM's writing is that nothing has a magical fix. Whether it's Danica or one of the guys, all of them have their own issues and there's no one quick fix. Even though this very much a PNR book, the realistic areas of mental health, PTSD come through. If you're up to date on these books you know that book 3 was a harsh ending and we start off book 4 right where we left off. We see the guys POV for obvious reasons, and after a bit we see Danica's perspective too. With everything going on, a few of the guys feelings come out, specifically with Dax and Roar.

Unfortunately we're still dealing with the evil peoples that we've been dealing with since book 1. I can't wait for them to get what's coming to them, which hopefully is going to be very very painful. We dive further into some of our main guys pasts, and we see from an outsider's POV how dangerous and powerful Gabe really is!

This was an amazing continuation of this series, and I can't wait to read book 5. If you're looking for a different type of PNR book, with a variety of magic users, shifters, a different plot line that goes from book 1 all the way to book 5. This is it!

Multi POV
University Setting (18+ and up)
Different Shifters (Dragon, Gargoyle & more)
FMC coming into her own + traumatic past
Growly Possessive Men
Fated Mate - Different Magic melding
Spice 🌶 🌶🌶🌶 we get to see a few more group things and fun things happening 😉
Plot 10/10 - Danica comes into her own power more, and you see the relationships develop more with the guys. We also see a storyline developing more with Atlas, and a few other side characters.

I really need to start writing my reviews of these books while I'm reading them, because once I get to the end, it's difficult to think about anything else!! She's killin' me with these cliffhangers. The series gets more intriguing, and more intense as it continues. We get an answer to one of the many mysteries about the newest hottie, and we get to see the relationship Dani has with each guy grow. I don't want to give anything away, however, I can't help but mention that Gabe is now tied with Remi as my favorite of the harem.. and that's all I'll say on the matter, for now. I love that this series is written in multiple POVs because we get a more in-depth look into the minds of the guys. I adore reading their thoughts and feelings about Dani in certain situations and I feel like it just adds SO much more to the story. Oh! I can't forget to mention my girl Kayla in this. She is absolutely hysterical, and I seriously wish she could be my best friend. There's plenty of great humor in this book (and throughout the series), and I think Kayla makes up a good-sized part of that. I legitimately laughed out loud on multiple occasions when she was around.

I will end this on a very important reminder. BM Clemton likes to mess with our emotions, and her favorite way to do that is by ending her books on brutal cliffhangers. So, buckle up, keep hands and feet inside the car at all times, and enjoy the ride!

You need this series in your life

If you're looking for:
✨ Academy setting (18+, NOT high school)
✨ Magic + fae + paranormal themes
✨ Reverse Harem/Why Choose (no FF or MM)
✨ Fated mates
✨ Friends-to-lovers
✨ Enemies-to-lovers
✨ Protective men
✨ FMC coming into her own power
✨ Positive female friendships
✨ Plenty of plot with your spice 🌶🌶🌶

I'm loving how the group is coming together in Book 4 of Black Veil University. Things between are finally starting to sort out and it's nice to see that they are still working on things. There wasn't a magical "ALL BETTER" situation between them. There are still very normal and believable problems that happen between the FMC and her various men which adds a nice feeling of normalcy to such a magic-themed book.

The author has done such a great job with making me truly hate the villains of this story and I'm anxiously awaiting their moments of reckoning.

This series remains one of my favorite reads of 2022! Stoked to see how it all concludes!

Holy Crap!! The opening chapter!! Not wanting to give any spoilers but just know that it is so powerful! B.M. Clemton started book 4 with a bang. It starts right where book 3 ended and it’s action packed from the very beginning!

Let’s talk side characters for a minute because Kayla is the best!! She’s snarky, she has a take no crap from anyone attitude, and she is the best friend to Dani! I just love her!! The way she likes to push Gabriel’s buttons is hilarious. She not scared of the big bad Reaper and I’m so here for it, love their banter.

Now on to Dani and her six mates! Dax, Remi, Zane, and Roar’s connection continued to grow with Dani. We also get some incite into Roar’s past and my heart aches for him. I was glad to see Gabe and Dani get closer in this book, I knew he would have to do a lot of groveling and Dani definitely help her ground with him. Oh and we can’t forget about Dom. If you read book 3 you know there is some questions about he actually is. Well I can tell you your answer comes with in the first few chapters of this book and I was not wrong. 😊 I can’t wait to see his relationship with Dani grow.

That freaking cliffhanger though, B.M. Clemton sure does know how to leave us hanging. There were a few what the heck moments and some unanswered questions. I can’t wait for book 5 to release!

I really like this series as a whole, and I've been waiting for this book, in particular, to come out for what feels like forever. It's well written for its genre and stood out against other new adult fantasy romances. I like how distinct and complex Danica's love interests were and how everyone had their own unique magic. The plot could be a little simplistic, and the romance could be a little drama-heavy, but that just made it more fun to read.

My one complaint was the POVs. I'm already not usually a fan of more than two POVs in a book, so Danica having a ton of love interests and continuing to split the lens as the series progressed was a little irritating, but the main problem was that we just didn't need another POV from the bad guys to further explain their motives. It was like it was supposed to compensate for their lack of action from the good guys' point of view, but I just didn't care and found it annoying.

Anyway, I really liked this book and will totally read B.M. Clemton's future releases.

I am thoroughly enjoying this series, and appreciate that the editing has improved (fewer typos and grammar/punctuation issues; they’re still there, but not nearly as frequent and distracting as they were in the first book).

My main complaint is that this reverse harem is getting a bit ridiculous in terms of number. I expected a few, but the way Dani collects almost every new male character feels a bit ridiculous, and the more guys there are, the less quality time is spent and the less you see the individual relationships grow. The author does their best to give everyone their own time and explore the uniqueness of each relationship, but it becomes almost impossible when there are more than 3…or 4…

Parts of the story also start to feel a bit repetitive. There are only so many versions of “overprotective mate acts overprotective” that one can write, and some of the s*x scenes are extremely similar (though still enjoyable).

But I still love the characters and think the plot and story is very enjoyable, and I can definitely see the author’s writing skills developing and improving!
