A tightly-plotted western adventure set on the Texas/Mexican border, loaded with action, gunsmoke, and suspense. Its diverse cast reflects the virtues and ideals of classic western character types.

The pace never slows
This western may break no new ground with the latest exploit of an ex-Texas Ranger who still chases outlaws. But in this author’s more than capable hands, it’s nothing short of reading pleasure to follow the “renegade” lawman through his latest adventure. This time, he and an enigmatic partner are pitted against a gang of renegades pillaging on both sides of the U.S.-Mexican border. Despite overwhelming odds and one close call after another, they hold their own right up to a blazing climax bringing together all the threads left dangling earlier in this fast-moving tale.

Excellent James Reasoner novel.
Exciting and fast moving. This book can hold your interest from cover to clover. I enjoyed the new characters coming into the story at the right time. For me it made a novel that I could not put down.

Back to good fiction!
After disappointing book four in the series, Mr. Reasoner returned to narrating a fictional story with many surprises including an amazing number of close calls for the protagonists and character twists. Bravo!
