Insightful Lessons from a Lifetime of Prayer
Journalist Dean Ridings has spent the bulk of his life studying and practicing prayer. In WALKING AND TALKING WITH GOD, Dean mentions a personal library with over 200 books on prayer. As he writes in the early portion of his book, “My focus is to acknowledge that God has made us to walk and talk with him. From cover to cover in the Bible we see men and women who realize that God is there, he cares, and he listens and responds to prayer.” (Page 10)
Throughout this book, Ridings has a mixture of personal stories, Bible insights and practical action steps to add more prayer into your everyday life. The content is broken into three sections: Living Like Jesus, Loving Like Jesus and Leading Like Jesus. As he writes toward the end of his book, “The more steps we take along the journey, the more we realize that we are indeed walking and talking with God each step of the way. I hope this has been your experience reading this book.: (page 152)

This is a thoughtful, well-written, and easy read! I was convicted and inspired to deepen my prayer life! This book is filled with scripture references, personal stories, and quotes coming together in a practical (not stressful) plan to make prayer a part of your daily life! Prayer doesn't have to be perfect or lofty to make an impact in this world, our lives, and the lives of those around us! A great read for any believer! I also love to see how God is SO faithful even in dark and hard situations and circumstances! This is a testimony to Christ's faithfulness, pursuit of us, and desire to have a personal relationship with us.
Also, I happen to think the author is a great dad! Six stars because I'm mentioned in the book! ;)
