A pet bunny gets a new home, new owner, and new life, which she soon learns includes roaming free, after having spent her entire life in her cage. The book is illustrated by real color photos of the bunny, who is the narrator of the book, which is also written in cute and easy rhymes. Children get the chance to both see and hear, from her perspective, how to handle major changes in one's life - including the limits of freedom and how to live with others.
Author D.J. Golden has always enjoyed writing, in many different forms, ranging from fiction to intricate legal contracts (when he’s practicing as a business lawyer). When his family adopted an adorable bunny named Mashmi, he was inspired to put his writing skills into a more creative outlet by penning his new children’s picture book, I Am Mashmi! A Pet Bunny Gets a New Home and a Very New Life!
D.J. believes a good children’s story is one that has relatable characters and conveys a life lesson in a subtle manner. In this unique rhyming book, Mashmi the bunny tells the story and color photos show her expressions and adventures. D.J. hopes readers of all ages will find joy and laughter – whether from reading, listening to, or seeing Mashmi in action. He believes I am Mashmi! is a book they will enjoy returning to again and again.
When he isn’t writing unconventional and lighthearted stories for children, D.J. enjoys spending time with his family, reading great books, watching movies, and, of course, watching Mashmi and her silly antics. He lives in Miami, Florida. I Am Mashmi! is his debut children’s book.
Thank you for choosing me as a giveaways Winner! My daughter loves this book because she loves Mashmi. All the beautiful pictures draw her in! That being said it went 2 directions and didn't conclude either very well. I feel like it would have been a better story split into two separate stories, one about Mashmi's adoption/gaining new freedom/healing from her trauma and loving and being loved by her new family. The other about her chewing adventures and the lessons learned about that, though I'm not sure that part story was necessary and seemed to be just a filler. All in all the book is a win. My daughter loves the pictures and isnt really concerned with how the story is laid out. But I wanted to give an honest review 🥰

Another Goodreads' First Reads win. This book is set up as a story of a rabbit being rehomed, but it tells about what rabbits need and their habits and gives kids a good idea of what is needed to care for a pet rabbit.
This is such a cute book! Mashmi is going to live with a new owner and is scared of the changes about to happen. When he gets to his new home he is given freedom to roam rather than living in a cage but gets into some trouble while learning the rules.
The pictures are actual photos of Mashmi making the book that much more fun!
