Trappin' Through The Snow was an okay read. I wasn't necessarily wowed with it because, the writing wasn't up to par. It was full of grammatical errors and incorrect word usage. However, the storyline was enjoyable and kept my interest peaked. That ending definitely was the cliffhanger I didn't see coming. The author left us with all kinds of unanswered questions. Did Dreeya set Kavalli up?!!! What happened to Khemani?!!! Is she dead or alive?!!! Is Duke really still alive?!!! Lawd, what is Gina gon' do when she finds out?!!! I need answers to all these burning questions neooooooowwww! Trappin' Through The Snow was my first book by BriAnn Danae. It was good enough for me to want to read the follow-up but, I probably wouldn't buy anymore of her books.
The Priest brothers have been trappin all of their lives and their empire has been running smoothly for years up until now. I liked each Priest brother, but the overall story was choppy to me. We are introduced to the Priest brothers very young and then the story oddly jumps decades ahead with very little backstory. I was literally trying to calculate their age because the transition was odd. That said let's get into the fine as wine Priest brothers. Krypt was the oldest. He was tall, dark, and handsome, waves on swim with that boss hood swag. He was essentially the heir to the family trappin business and took over when he became of age. He wanted a different life, but sacrificed his wants to ensure his family was good. Khrome was the middle son. He was sensitive and loved hard, had long locs, and oozed sex appeal. He was a father and was doing everything to go legit to ensure his babygirl had a good life. Kavalli was the youngest and wildest. He too had waves for the babes, tall, but lighter than his brothers. He never shied away from action and definitely gave off reckless thug vibes.
We experience their relationships with women. Some of them hella unhealthy. Each brother definitely has a different approach, but they all seem to be passionate about the women they choose to entertain. Their trap business begins to unravel and with no leads they are forced to find a balance between business and personal unclear of whom to trust.
The flow was lacking as the storyline switched from brother to brother and left so many things open. Grammar also needs to be tightened. I called the plot twist at the end, but again I still had questions. I'm hoping book 2 fills in the gaps.
This novel started off a bit rough for me; my attention wasn’t fully engaged at first. However, as I continued listening to the audiobook, it improved significantly. I became curious about who the "snake" 🐍 was in the story. By the time I finished the audio, the reveal was mind-boggling and left me on a cliffhanger. I'm intrigued enough to find out what happens next, so I plan to listen to the next installment.
The Priest brothers… chileeee the way they were introduced my oh my!
So in the beginning I wanted Alora to say to hell with Krypt but as the story moved on they grew on me! 🫶🏾
Kavalli gave hot head all through out the story. Soft for my lady but still hood was him 😂. Him and Dreeya had me cracking up. They were toxic too. But the twist had my face screwed up.
Milan .. baby omg is all i can say BUT am I shocked? NO. She was way too caught up on getting back with Khrome and over indulged in his love.
KOYAAAAA … IKYFL 🤨

This was my book clubs September pick of the month (well this and the sequel) and I have to say that if it weren't, I probably would have never picked this title up. While I'm not sorry that I read this book, it did leave a bit to be desired when it comes to depth of character, relationship development, and just overall exposition.
This book starts off with a quick introduction into the world and the situation that the Priest brothers are in, but then after that, as the reader, your kind of dropped into the middle of a story and it almost feels like THIS is the sequel and you should already know the characters and what they're going through. For me that just isn't enough. I need more than just knowing the Priest brothers lost their father or are "real niggas" to feel invested in what's going on in their lives. Add that to the fact that I am decidedly NOT a fan of the fluid 3rd person, omniscient perspective this book is written in, and I end up with just a MEH reading experience and investment in the characters and story.
There was a nice little twist at the end that wasn't really a twist at all because I called it, but I'll be interested in seeing how that thread in the story unravels.
BriAnn Danae is messy! She ended this book like a season finale…ramp up the drama and end on a cliffhanger. Trappin Through the Snow had a choppy flow and lot of characters to keep track of. It was an ok read but now I have to read Still Trappin Through the Snow to see how things are resolved.
BriAnn, I laughed... I gasped, I got choked up, I even cursed at Milan a time or 3... and Gab, ugh!!!!I just knowwwwww you didn't just end this book like thisssss!!!!! An hour ago, I was at 70% now...boom I'm done. I don't even knowwww which brother did it for me the most. I'm leaning toward Krypt. Now, I wait for the continuation.
I was in to this book and really was looking for the wow moment that I never got. I just wanted more and this storyline had the potential but it wasn’t giving wow or shock. I saw a lot of the stuff coming and I just wasn’t alll the way impressed I’m gonna read the next part and see if it is better bc I am a fan and I usually love her books but this one wasn’t it for me
First let me say those Priest brothers exude BDE to the fullest. This book was really good. Couldn't stop reading after that prologue. I love how the author gives each brother a chapter into their lives and the women who consume them. But nothing is too good to be true when a snake has shaken up their business and the most precious gift to the family is missing. I was happy for Krypt and Alora, they are so good together. Now that ending had me shocked and wanting to get at Duke. Definitely have my theories about his "Demise" but I guess we'll see in part 2 which I'm more than ready for. Kudos to the author for another great read.
Wow! What a way to end a story? I’m trying to see how long before the next installment? This is the first book that I thoroughly enjoyed by this author. I will be checking out more of her upcoming releases. This book here! I need answers: where is Khemani? Koya? Where you come from? Surely not from Gina. Is Kavalli locked up or being kept away? What about Dreeya? Yea I’m waiting on the next part
This isn’t a full story. Plot is still under development at the end of book. It’s practically pointless to read without part 2. It didn’t leave me waiting on the next book. Instead I wondered what was the point? Would’ve been an interesting story if it were completed and professionally edited.
This was a slow read. I didn't get interested in it until the last 3 chapters. I hope book to is better. I love BriAnne writing skills bit this was a miss.
Trappin’ Through the Snow is a gripping hood tale that pulls you in from the very beginning. The story follows three brothers—Krypt, Khrome, and Kavalli—each with their own personalities, but all tied to the same game and driven by a desire to provide for the people they love.
Khrome was definitely my favorite, followed closely by Krypt. They both know what they want in a woman and aren’t afraid to go after it. Kavalli, on the other hand, had to come close to losing something real before he realized what he had. I’m still not sure if the choice he made was the right one, though—it could go either way.
I really enjoyed the book, but I do wish Khrome had done more for Milan, especially considering her mental and emotional state. There’s definitely more to be explored there. I’m looking forward to book 2! There are still so many unanswered questions, and I need to know what happens next!🤯
“They’d made a name for themselves, was standing on all ten behind it, and promised that their father’s death wouldn’t be in vain.”
Book I of this series was a wild ride: -a trio of brothers -complicated relationships -mental health representation -grief x vengeance -family dynamics -romance x spice -thick bodied FMC representation -late 20s & 30s characters -realistic, conversational banter
It will get a bit confusing with the amount of characters. But, once you lock in on each brother and their situations, it’s easier to follow and the storyline continues.
Overall, this was an entertaining story that has you ready to pick up book II. If BriAnn Danae is writing it, I’m reading it. This is definitely different than other books that I’ve read from her but, her writing style locks me in every time.
Mannn 😮😮😮😮😮 the love these brothers have for each come from a rough time in their lives. In part 2 we are going to see a different side of them not just their sweet side but their real savage side. The women in their lives are going to be needed more than ever. Kyrupt and Alora are super sweet. I like them because they both waited for perfect timing because with that ending he will need some true peace. Kavilli and Dreeya is something else but we need some details about them to make a better judgement. Khrome and Selyse starting something good but how will he feel knowing he was out with her and something bad has happened. I hope he don't push her away because it's not her fault. Things about to be extra real
3.5 rating ⭐️ I really enjoyed From the Hood With Love, so when I saw a Christmas short had dropped, I immediately wanted to read it. However, the author suggested reading this book first since some of the characters would be mentioned. I’m not mad that I did. I like the author’s writing style that has mix of everything, but it can get a bit confusing when she writes from all of the character’s views at once. I also predicted the end midway through the book and you’re left on a bit of a cliffhanger which would normally annoy me, but it probably didn’t since I saw it coming. There were A LOT of unanswered questions. I like the brothers and my interest was peaked just enough to possibly read more about them, but it’s so so. It depends on how they’re mention in Christmas with Projex.
So this is my first time reading from this author and I was not disappointed at all honey. You did amazing with this story. The Priest Brother are not to be played with. Kavaili is a whole mess and I really hope Dreeya didn’t do nothing foolish because they are really cute together. Khrome has such a big heart and it’s sad that he doesn’t get to be happy because of mental illness and selfishness. Milan needed to really accept the help she really needed to be better for herself and Mani but just couldn’t see past her demons to do so. I really hope Khemani is alright. Krypt had the weight of the world on his shoulders and was finally starting to do things for himself only for this bomb to be dropped on him…. Let’s see what the next part is like
This was a great read by this author but I was not surprised. The story was great!! The brothers were everything. They were so different but all so captivating.
I don't believe Dree set Kavilli up❗. She was set up🤔. Can't wait to see what happens. I hope he not stupid enough to run to Meka😡.
I knew Milan would be her end. I hated her behavior but I hope Khrome does not feel guilty. That was not his fault. WHERE IN THE HELL IS KHEMANI😡🤔😢...
I am glad Krypt and Alora finally got together. She was bold and it paid off👏👏.
I truly like the dynamics between the brothers and their mom. The ladies in their lives are their calm and give them peace.
Khrome I’m positive will be carrying guilt regarding what Milan did. Her mother knows she needs help along with Milan, but she just keep going and did some messed up things.
The three brothers are all different in personality. I don’t have a favorite brother so far.
Now the ending is like hmmmm that’s interesting. We will see how this shocking ending will uproot so many lives!
I am all caught up in the world of the Priest brothers. They grew up fast and ready for the underbelly world of trappin. It’s always interesting to see those immersed in this lifestyle fall in love. The battle between their women and the streets and God forbid other women never fails to entertain. Milan is bat sh$t crazy. I am on edge awaiting the fate of Mani. I really like Dreeya. She’s so dope. Hopefully Kavalli doesn’t blow it. Krypt is the brother who needs love the most. This slow burn between him and Alora is driving me! Great read!
The Priest Men are trying to maintain their father's business in peace, but nobody seems to want them to. Krypt is always trying to make sure his mom and siblings are good, but he's tired of the fast life. Khrome wants to run his new business successfully and care for his daughter, but Milan will not give him peace. Never expected her to follow through with her threats. Kavalli was just a hot head. I don't think Dreeyah set him up. The guys were dealing with nothing but stress and now a sister pops up. Can't wait to read part two. Job well done!
The author did a very well job with these characters. Even in the crazy moments I couldn’t help but enjoy the flow of the story like I was watching them on tv. These men are very raw and cut throat but with a bond nobody can break. They are constantly reminded that they can’t trust anybody but each other. I can’t wait to see what’s next because ….. woah that ending nobody saw coming #WhereIsKhemani
Another freaking masterpiece from BriAnn. Her writing skills just keeps getting better and better. The story flowed well, was very interesting and the character development was awesome. Those Priest men were a force to be reckoned with. Mannn, book two has a lot of secrets to be revealed, such as: who set Kavelli up, where in the heck is Khemoni, where did this sister come from and is Duke really dead? I’m here for all of the drama. Definitely a book worth reading!
I was not expecting that ending OKAYYYY.! These brothers are just fine and it for no darn reason! I love me some Krypt with his fine self! I wounded is pops is still around and how they momma going to take to him having an outside child, lord this going to be insane! I hope they find khemani and her momma ain’t do not dumb ish! Kavelle better not believe she set him up cuz lord i do t think they will make it if he do…
Girl i knoooooww u didn’t end this book like that. Here im thinking o a lil Christmas story but nop u brung that fire! Storyline on point characters even better. Can’t wait to see what happens in book 2. My heart tho is caught up with Khrome i gotta know where Mani at, that mental illness is real. Kavalli and Dreyee man he need to slow down a minute and get the full details first. Krypt and Alora gonna be alright might be my favorite couple this year.
This book was so good! I cannot wait for part 2. The priest brothers did not come to play. And it will be very hard deciding who will be my book boyfriend in this book. Each brother has the Distinct Characteristics that draw you in. But low-key Chrome my fave ,! The love story , the drama, and little bit of treachery as definitely not messing from this story line.
Baby this was another good read from BriAnn. Now I'm sitting here stuck because she got me thinking about if and why Duke would fake his death, and where the hell is KheMani? I hope Milan didn't harm that baby. Who set Kavalli up? Was is Dreeya's sister because her butt aint popped back up. Whew chile I have so many questions🤦 I'm happy that Alora finally got a piece of Krypt though.
