Once again, a final sentence for the RECORD BOOKS!

First disclaimer: this is my second read through this series (having failed to write a review the first time).

Second disclaimer: I realize that the headline may create a false sense of expectation for new readers, but get over it. Just know that it blew ME out of the water and this is after all, a review of my experience with the book. ***Tom chuckles at his own humor***

There is an elegance to this ending, specifically in the word choices and phrasing, that once again somehow brings this book to an end that leaves you with a sense of completeness and closure, all the while aware that nothing is complete and closure is a LONG way off.

How does she do this? Hell if I know! It’s subtle, I can tell you that.

There is the obvious thematic and action similarities to classic fairytales that lends to the ending, but that’s not it.

There’s also the seemingly endless foreshadowing that is so blatantly obvious even the characters try to ignore it, but that’s not it either.

And before I go any further, I don’t mean to exclude Michael, but from the authors’ author’s notes (note the apostrophes, please, puns intended), I get the sense his was a creative element in the collaboration with the “words” per se coming from Sarah. If I’m wrong, I would say sue me, but please don’t.

In any event, I truly believe that some of this is material that has lived in Sarah’s unconscious mind from the time she read her first fairy tales. And now, I think I’ve finally found the way to describe my experience of reading this:

If you were to write a perfect “happily ever ending,” for a children’s tale that was written for adults, than this is how you would do it.

It has all the naivety and immaturity that a child would bring if he/she were the one telling the story, but all of the grace, elegance and shine that comes only from experience, mature writing and true depth of character.
Give it a go and then let me know if you see the same thing. I’ll bet you do. ENJOY!

Oh my!

Although this book seems a little forced at times, I still enjoyed it. The secret missions are getting a little too much, but they also serve to further the plot. Sophia is growing up and learning more about life...both inside and outside the barrier. Wonder what troubles she finds in the next book?

This is another Michael Anderle money scam as this one is not his first "republish series" :
"Previously published as a part of the megabook The New Elite"

The New Elite is forth book in The Exceptional Sophia Beaufont series.
