Cringy
Her boyfriend Jack is possessive, condescending, and cringe provoking. Their ridiculous dialogues about minutia ( 20 minutes of sleep) are nauseating. I tried really hard to endure for the sake of the story but bailed almost halfway after Jack rubbing his hand until and down her back for the 800th time.

Another story in the Charlie Rhodes drama
This wasn’t a great stop in the Charlie Rhodes series. It played once again as too juvenile and way too much wishful thinking.
Maybe it was good that her family has found her, but her father was all kinds of weird and not in the fatherly way they tried to pass it off as. From the start of his characters introduction, I have the feeling he’s corrupted, likely by Sybil. Otherwise, why wouldn’t he have made more of an effort to contact his son or wife? Once he met Charlie and knew the Legacy Foundation was involved, he immediately should have contacted Casey to smooth the way for him, but he didn’t.
The constant back and forth between Charlie and Jack is too much. Theirs isn’t a grown persons relationship, it a juvenile conceptualized version one. There is no way in the long run that they would stay together in real life. Either Charlie would get sick of Jack always taking the lead and bypassing her desires, such as with putting the deposit down on the apartment, or Jack would get sick of Charlie’s juvenile antics. Truthfully, they both need to F’ng Grow Up!
Having Harley in the story is always humorous. Though now we may know why she has been helpful to Charlie and hasn’t been punished for it. All so the crossroads demons can end a deal with Sybil that got out of their reach.
I didn’t mind the Bay and Tillie crossover as much, though it does feel like way too many crossovers are occurring. I did find it funny that Harley just popped them over when they needed it. But that doesn’t answer the dilemma of how Harley was paid for it. Shouldn’t she have required a deal to make that happen, even if only another meal paid for by Jack or Charlie? I think requiring a deal to bring them in so quickly would have been more realistic to the concept of a crossroads demon and their abilities. Even if Papa Legeba and Harley want to end the Sybil issue, I would think they would still have their own rules they need to follow to get there.
It’s obviously just a matter of time before the Legacy group finds out about Charlie’s powers. Hopefully they will do that after getting rid of Laura. Please, JUST GET RID of Laura!! She a horrible character that doesn’t progress the story. At least in the Grimlock series, the Angelique and Aisling rivalry was a humorous leftover from their childhood and even got to the point of grudging respect layered over the massive hatred of each other. But there was a give and take to their relationship and it took years to get to those levels of hatred and respect. With Laura, it’s all one sided and the spite and crap that occurs with her is just ridiculous, no one would put up with it, including her own parents. It also happened so quickly, it doesn’t ring true. You can dislike someone initially but to get such a hatred of Charlie that fast isn’t believable even with Laura’s narcissistic personality. Maybe they can reopen a version of the asylum so her parents can have her committed and the rest of us no longer have to put up with her. I’m not usually a proponent for electro-shock therapy, but in Laura’s case, it might be warranted. She doesn’t offer anything to the story. She’s not funny, and the constant sniping and griping detracts from the story instead of moving it forward.
The concept behind the series, as far as a paranormal hiding in plain sight with a paranormal hunting group is good idea. The execution is way off though. Might be time to cut the series and either let it go or reimagine it into something new, like the author did with the Grimlocks into the Death Gate Reaper series.

I have issues with the characters and I can skim over the childish behavior. What I cannot get beyond is a plot hole. Casey told Charlie he went to Walkerville, known now as Hemlock Cove, to find her. In the crossover with Mystic Caravan, he said he met them. Aunt Tillie put a curse on him. She gave him the trots. For months.
And yet here we are, 2 books later, and he’s never met the Winchesters. They never met him?! Aunt Tillie had no idea who he was. Come on, Amanda. This is like Izzy being able to turn herself and Braden invisible in book 2 of the Death Gate series but by the time Zoe visits, Izzy can’t turn invisible and it never happened? She literally told Braden she couldn’t do it, that Zoe performed the spell.
Make yourself some notes to remind yourself what your characters have done in the past.
Too many series going at once will leave you with holes. Please slow down.

Really disappointing
This is just the stock characters with the name changed. It’s really sad and a pathetic half way job. Also, it leaves you with a cliffhanger. Seriously? Not every going to purchase one of her books. I’m so sick of Bay and company with the sad retreads, so I switched to this series. Kiss of death here with retreads and cliffhanger.

Tedious
These books have a good storyline but are ruined by the never-ending proclamations of who loves who more, the bickering between characters that goes for far to long with repetitive arguments and the main character's indecisiveness that has to be a part of every situation. The story gets lost in the tedious interactions of the characters.

Creepy asylum, ghosts galore..
.. but just slightly off the boil somewhere!
Now Charlie has contact with her brother, Casey, who is also employed by the Legacy Foundation, and her mother, Melina; who they found during the last episode in Salem. Charlie is distrustful and not finding it easy to bond with the family who gave her up, she's also trying to figure out why neither seems to know how they can find her father.
Meanwhile Chris has secured them access to the Asylum using his Uncle Myron's contacts to gain entry to the building itself. As the previous people who entered all vanished never to be seen again Jack is certainly on edge and by the time it's over he's going to have plenty more to worry about as the confrontation between Charlie and Sybil seems to be moving ever closer.
It felt a little bit short.. like the end had been suddenly cut short at a rather odd place. How well will Laura cope with being rescued after her disappearance? How will they explain away what happened? I have too many questions about what happens at the end of this book.. it is a rather abrupt and odd ending.
PS.. you forgot Jason Momoa also risks a man bun!!

Another outstanding supernatural cozy mystery series.
This is one supernatural coaching mystery series among many in a magical world by this author. Almost all if not all of them are extraordinary in their own right and many of the characters at least the main characters at some point will cross over into each others series and make an appearance. As well as a few random characters that interact with a different characters in the books bounce between the different series. This particular one is an extraordinary entertaining series with a great cast of characters and a unique and entertaining storyline. Charlie Rhodes was adopted at a young age and grew up being slightly different than other kids. Her adoptive parents encouraged her but made sure she hid the fact that she had special gifts from others. Her parents died when she was a teenager and she was on her own. She went off to college instead Paranormal subjects and eventually got a job with the legacy foundation. A group at the legacy foundation travels the country researching strange and supernatural happenings and signings. As the newest member of the group she is the only one that is Ashley supernatural in her own right. She is hiding in plain sight among people looking for supernatural creatures places and things. A few of her friends in the group know her secrets but many do not. Read on and follow the adventures of Charlie roads in the Legacy foundation. story was great
I really enjoyed the story, the back ground and all but SPOILER (poss.) I HATE when it just ends all of a sudden. Laura didn’t wake, they didn’t talk to Chris… she never told the daughter about her mother… the authorities about the missing ppl… just everything that makes an ending an ending… it just stops, ugh

Superb!
Oh my stars! Things really move in this stay! I didn’t want to put the book down! Exciting, riveting and just plan spooky. I so love Charlie and Jack. All the characters are very relatable and I enjoy their escapades immensely!
I can relate to all the emotions Charlie feels finding her family. I was adopted and found my birth family. I call my birth mother by her given name because my momma an daddy WERE AND ALWAYS will be my Momma and Daddy. My birth mom understands thankfully.

Mixed feelings!
The book is basically a good read but it gets confusing. It wanders, doesn’t have a clear path to what’s going on with what Sybil’s done to the asylum & also Charlie’s family. Her meeting her father is very scrambled. And I was extremely disappointed in the ending… it feels like a whole chapter is missing! I even went out & back in to see if I’d missed it! There should have been something about the asylum destruction and also the Legacy team’s arrival & reaction, and Laura awaking. But the idea, premise, “ theme”… of the book is fantastic! I loved the general idea and some of the scenes… especially the one where Charlie had to use her magic in front of Chris & the team. I just think the technique needed ‘tweaking’.
I feel like Amanda had something else going on that was distracting her. I’m just saying….

Disappointed
There are good point to this book but honestly the bad out do it, she and Jack gets on my last nerves its like their depraved of love and its book nine girl need to stop with this annoying crap and learn more about her powers. She knows why they left and still acting as if her family didn't want her. She got love from her other parents so why she acting as if she have more issues than other people or that she had it worst than her bio family. They had to give her up to save her life and losse a lot of time with her and she acting as if it was easy for them. She needs to grow up.

Meh
The little inconsistencies are really annoying me from this author. I wish that she would keep an outline to keep the details straight. Also, the ending seemed rather anticlimactic to me. Charlie didn’t even do all that much. I keep hoping these books will get better but I may have to live with disappointment.

Charlie is getting closer to her past.
Adopted as a child Charlie Rhodes could remember nothing about her life before the Rhodes adopted her aged five. Abandoned by her birth family she has always had question but no answers. In previous books she’s found her brother and mother, who explained they had to leave he as a very dangerous witch laid claim to her, her birth parents did what they did to protect and hide her from the witch Sybil Croft. Charlie is conflicted, she likes finally having answers but can’t forgive the abandonment, Jack just wants to protect her from Sybil, and her birth father is still out there somewhere missing. In the midst of all this Charlie and Jack still have to work, they are called to an abandoned asylum as two demolition workers have gone missing. They are not the first people to go missing at the asylum, which has a very bad reputation. The more the group investigate the more dark deeds they uncover —— which cannot be passed off as just the times they operated in———— Charlie on entering the asylum is immediately confronted by more than one ghost and Chris her boss is extremely excited as he manages to get evidence of the ghosts on camera for the first time, as Charlie is unable to hide the fact that she is talking to the Doctor who ran the asylum. So, danger all around,Sybil is after her and her co workers are getting closer to finding out the truth about her abilities. Charlie is going to need all the help she can get to resolve this one.

I’m so over Jack’s overbearing and abusive behavior towards Charlie. They have a sickeningly codependent relationship that’s getting old. Neither character has grown over the nine books.
Jack is overbearing and tries to make all of Charlie’s decisions for her. Charlie makes a half assed attempt to stick up for herself, but kowtows to Jack’s wishes. Charlie has proven herself at more capable than Jack on more occasions than I can count, yet he won’t let her have her independence even when she proves she’s capable. “Yes you did it, but you’re just a weak woman and I should be the one to always save you because I’m a big strong man with long hair. Gag. I skip so many pages of the constant back and forth - you’re not capable - yes I am! - no you’re not - yes I am! - no you’re not - I guess I’m not ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Another Charlie Rhodes Mystery....yippee!
Charlie Rhodes is one of my favorite characters. I love her adventures. This one didn’t have a true monster at the center of it, which is different. It explored Charlie’s background and her newly discovered family. It was a good book, not a great one though. All the other characteras took a backseat to Charlie, Jack and her new relatives, as well as a few witches and a demon from other series. I’ve enjoyed the Legacy Foundation. I love Charlie, but I don’t want to give up the Legacy Foundation characters and adventures for just Charlie, Jack and her family. There are several series with just that sort of stories. Keep Charlie unique please.
Charlie Rhodes is one of my favorite characters. I love her adventures. This one didn’t have a true monster at the center of it, which is different. It explored Charlie’s background and her newly discovered family. It was a good book, not a great one though. All the other characteras took a backseat to Charlie, Jack and her new relatives, as well as a few witches and a demon from other series. I’ve enjoyed the Legacy Foundation. I love Charlie, but I don’t want to give up the Legacy Foundation characters and adventures for just Charlie, Jack and her family. There are several series with just that sort of stories. Keep Charlie unique please.

Oh, Charlie Rhodes is one of my favorite of Amanda M Lee’s characters. And a crossover cameo from another favorite made this book even more fun!
So, for me, this particular book gets a little creepy; I can just handle it. But it’s absolutely fascinating, as there are so many things starting to come together by this time in the series. Long lost family, tiny steps as relationships and interactions weave & bend.
Charlie has grown so much, and so has Jack.
And I’m quite intrigued wondering what will happen with Laura. We’ve been given several hints that could lead in very different directions. There’s also a fun drop-in from one of my favorite mischievously kind characters. Oh, I adore her.

Love the Stories but....
I love the plots of this series and the mystery behind Charlie's past and cannot wait for it to unravel. I really am over the sappy, corny, unrealistic, constant dialogue between her and Jack in the middle of every single scene. I literally skip over all of it because it breaks the tone of some of the more intriguing situations. This series would have been 5 books shorter without all this unrealistic romantic reassurances and over the top self doubt from Charlie. It is literally the same conversations over and over. There isn't a couple on earth that talks to each other like this, especially in front of other grownups. It is a fantasy story though so we can always dream. Great plots, enough with the sap.

This one felt deranged a bit. There were pages of Charlie and Jack doing the "I love you" back and forth with no movement in the story, I just started skimming. Finally, Charlie's family is together, but it seemed so stilted and without follow up. They hung out together and it was over. The storyline with Laura in the asylum just sort of ended without any resolution. The whole ending was strange actually. I haven't quite figured out why Harley has become so invested in Charlie meeting with Sybil. There have been hints in other books in the Lee series that a "big fight" was coming and all the characters would be involved. It seems in either (or both) Scout and/or Charlie are the primaries in the war. Interesting to see how that turns out. Time to take a break from Lee for a while though. Her characters can really grate on my nerves.

Love the Author
Charlie is finally learning the truth of her past and meeting her family. It’s leading her in a dangerous direction. She’s lucky she has a strong team at her side.
I am a big fan of all the author’s series. I get the newest books as soon as they are released. I enjoy the mix of paranormal, romance and action.
The female main characters are strong but also have a lighter side. They tend to find their sole mates under usual situations. The men who love them would do anything to keep them safe and happy. There are a lot of crossovers in the series do it’s great to read them all.

It’s so great to watch Charlie’s powers expand and her relationships grow. It’s even more fun to ride along on the imagination and creativity of Amanda M Lee! This book gives more answers about Charlie’s life and raises more questions around the evil stalking her. Can’t wait to find out how she deals with Sybil! And more crossovers in this and other books keep tying all the different sets of books together. It’s so fun to have the characters I love interacting in alternate storylines where they are least expected!

I always enjoy the adventures of the Legacy Foundation and this was a very creepy haunting, but I wish we had gotten a spectacular ending to this particular haunted establishment. Charlie got some answers and more questions. The brief crossovers were fun and the hint of things to come in Moonstone Bay were promising too. You never know what you're going to get or who might pop in when Harley shows up. A fun and entertaining paranormal read.

Haunted Asylums are always spooky
I am not a fan of an ending that leaves more questions than it answers,especially when there's no tag telling us when the next book will be available. (This will be easier on readers who discover Lee's books later in the series so they can just binge. They will still have to go read the other series to best enjoy the cross-overs. I started with the Wicked Witches of the Midwest and am now thrilled with any time I get t to see the Winchester witches.) It was nice to see Harley again too.

An Almost fantastic book
I love the the beginning and the build-up of an almost scary thriller with haunted place. Like the part in book with dark void coming to get the Legacy Team. That was great it had me a little afraid. But the ending just felt anticlimactic where there should have been a rush to action when Charlie's coworker disappeared. Instead the book fell off and just made the characters seem to give up finding a solution to save the but had to rely on other characters to do the heavy lifting. I will still read the series because showdown expected.

As this is listed under cozy mystery when I look up books in Amazon, I had to bring the review stars to a lower level, as this was more of a dark, sad, sometimes disturbing read, about the reality of people who have been forced to be in an Asylum and the horrors they had to go through. As I personally had to take classes and have been to the Asylums, I did not want to read again the horrors, but it would probably interest others, so they would give this book higher stars.
I love most of the series and this is a great series, yet this book was too much for me.

Interestingly intriguing mystery
There was a lot to take in from this one, kots of threads pulled a few answers and so many more questions I'm dying to know the answers to.
Charlie and Jack are all kinds of awesome. I know love the ghostly asylum and how it ties to Charlie, I love how her life is expanding with Jack her work her family and her magical friends. This was a delightfully intriguing story.

Good book
Ms. Lee comes through again. I love her books and the snark that comes with them. I like that the H&H are devoted to each other too. However, stretching out the over-arcing story about Sybil is getting stale. I enjoyed the first books because they had our main characters and the "evil" they had to fight. They are satisfying in a way that this book is not. The angst about the parents is annoying and detracts from the fun of the book.

Creepy Asylums
You couldn't pay me enough to go into a haunted asylum that claims to eat people. Nope not happening. The foundation people love to go and look for the unexplainable and they found some very profound proof here. Charlie and Jack are in the thick of things again and have solved another. We even get Aunt Fills and Bay in this one. I can't wait to see what is in store for Charlie and Jack.

Wow! Wow! Wow!
The Asylum Aberration is chock full of answers about Charlie's family that I have been waiting for since the first book.
While all the team from the Legacy Foundation shows up in this book, it is very Charlie and Jack centric, which really worked - it kept the story tight and focused.
The action and snark were fast-paced. I loved the surprise visitors at the end of the book!
I will be waiting on pins and needles to see what happens next.
