It wasn't that bad but wasn't that good either. The whole book is a straight road without any bumps or turns. I didn't feel anything. Nothing. No laughs, no cries.
Full disclosure, Savage Secrets is the only one I've tried in this series so I can't be too judge-y yet this as a standalone was plain Jane.
Marco La Rosa, the male lead gave off a feeling to me that he was infact, making cameo appearances whenever El did something rash without thinking twice.
El, herself, wasn't a character who could make me "feel" for her. Honestly? All I know about her at the end of this book is that she loves balconies, has some out of the world memory recollection powers and is chill af at the thought of marrying someone not even a day after being dragged back to wherever the story is taking place at.
We're not even told HOW El & Marco caught feelings for each other in their childhood. Just one instance where El stole his stuff before dumping them at the most random places. C'mon, they couldn't have fallen in love over THAT?
It would've been great if we could've seen some emotional moments where Marco grieved over a life he missed out on with El, but nah, he just seems lifeless to me.

Ever read a book series where each book gets better and better, and you’re enjoying it as it goes, but then you get to one down the line and you’re like THIS. IS. THE. ONE? Well that’s this one. I feel like books 1-3 set up everything for this book perfectly and left me astounded.
Did I expect most of it and guess some of the plots? Of course. But I still NEEDED this book in my life and sat there reading it from beginning to end. I feel like (almost) all the questions and build up where answered. Of course know it’s not all been said and done because this is only book 4 of 7 planned (according to Amazon at the time of this writing), but ugh, I can’t gush enough about this one.
We get Marco and Elena in this book. As with all the others there’s a HEA in terms of the love story, but the build up to there is so great. It’s kind of an enemies to lovers, second chance, forced proximity, story. They knew each other as kids but Marco starts pulling away and being a jerk to Elena in their teens because he knows he cannot have her. Then she’s on the run, hiding who she really is, and Marco steps in to save her. And then says you’re mine. AH!
I enjoyed the continual build up of the mafia world and the ongoing issues inside the Family as well as with the Bratva. Note: I really want my Katya novel next!

This is a five star read by an author that is definitely in my top 10 authors. I have absolutely loved everything that I have read of hers and this book is another shining example of her fantastic writing. I love reading mafia romance and this book, and the rest of the series, is probably the best mafia romances that I have read.
This book has so much to offer. It’s a mafia romance, it’s enemies to lovers and it includes an arranged marriage. What could possibly go wrong? Writing wise, absolutely nothing, story wise – anything and everything. To begin with Marco has thought that Elena had been killed 4 years previously. Marco also believes that Elena hates him.
What we get is a fantastic story that has you gripped from the very first page. In fact, I was gripped to the thought of Marco and Elena’s story when it was hinted at in previous books and I was hyped up to read their story. This book will take you on an amazing journey filled with death, drama, intrigue and some very hot romance. What else could you possibly need?
I love this story and the group of characters that make up this series. They are all intriguing characters with great stories to tell and I pray that the author keeps this series going. It’s one that I will definitely read again.

This is book 4 from the Mafia Elite Series. It can be read as a standalone however to have a better understanding of the side characters it’s best to have read all prior books.
Elena and Marco have always been attracted to one another but as Elena was arranged to marry someone else, Marco decided to hide his real feelings and push her away.
After an intense altercation between two mafia rivals, Elena escapes and starts her life with a new identity. She’s aware of the danger that surrounds her and knows she must keep her guard up. When Marco is sent to find Elena after he is told the Bratva is after her. He knows he must protect her and the only way to do is by entering is to marry her.
Get ready for major plot twists and an action-packed storyline! Elena and Marco are perfect for each other as they are both strong and fearless. The love they both have for one another is absolutely swoon-worthy!

Starting at the beginning, the love/hate relationship that Elena and Marco have is amazing!!!!! It is one that will make your blood boil for so many reason. One of those reasons is the steam between the two. It is so steamy I felt like I lost some weight reading this book by sweating it out. The tension that surrounds them in everything they do has them constantly feelings things they think they shouldn't be. Can Elena survive the changes that have happened in The Family since she has been gone? Will the constant barbs taken at each other come to an end if they can just admit their feelings. These are the questions that I asked myself during this book. It was so well written and I am a sucker for character development during a book and this one did not let me down. This book has everything that I have come to love in this authors books. The steam, the action, the suspense, the steam, the love, the romance, the steam, and did I mention the steam. This books makes me wish I was in the mafia. The twists and turns this series has taken so far some are answered in this book and it will make you so happy to find things out. However, you will constantly be asking yourself if these characters did in fact do what you just read. It is just that good.

Elena Caruso has been hiding from everyone for four years. When she was on her daily run, she received a message from the Russian assassin Katya. Just as Elena is about to leave her apartment, she runs straight into Marco La Rosa, an Italian Mafia boss. She manages to get past him only to run into a Russian hitman who shoots her in the leg. Marco kills him and takes Elena to safety. Elena didn’t know what Marco, whom she had a childhood feud with, had planned for her. She quickly learns that the Italian Mafia had changed while she was gone. Now, as she is walking down an aisle for her wedding, she realizes she didn’t want a marriage of convenience. She wanted everything.
I have been reading this series from its very beginning and I have become hopelessly hooked by the vivid imagery. The characters are realistic, and their motivations are understandable. Looking for intelligent, resourceful women? Check! Looking for strong yet passionate men? Check! This is a 5-star book and I highly recommend the entire series.

Well, because Amy McKinley is a talented author who really knows her stuff, and is an absolute rockstar in her field, that’s how! I never have to consider whether I will read one of her books, it is always going to be a massive YES from me. So, I happily snatched up a copy of this book as soon as it hit the shelves and jumped right in, inhaling the story in a matter of hours. And yes, as you might have guessed, it’s another winning entry in this fantastic series!!!

I can’t get enough of this series! Every book just gets better, and I find more couples like who steal my heart with their stories.
Elena and Marco had a chemistry that steamed off the pages. Elena was no normal heroine being independent, headstrong, and fearless. Assuming a new identity due to issues with the Bratva she is alone on the run, and doing pretty good. When word is sent that they know where she is it becomes a running game… that is until her past shows up in the form of an old friend/crush. Marco Is a mob boss and a man who loved her in the past. Trying to protect her as well as finally be with her they assume a marriage of convenience. From there it’s 2 headstrong individuals trying to navigate their unspoken love and mafia revenge. It’s all the romance, action and suspense you could want and more.

Savage Secrets (Mafia Elite, book 4) by Amy McKinley. So Amy McKinley is one of my very favorite authors and this series has not disappointed! I LOVE it! This is the continuing story of the Elena Caruso and her Italian Mafia Family. In the last book Elena has been in hiding for a long time and the secret is out that she is still alive. There have been so many changes in the Family that she can hardly keep up. Chicago Mafia Boss Marco La Rosa has been roped into an arranged marriage with Elena and he's all for it but he has to convince her and keep her from getting killed. Elena has secretly been in love with Marco but he had been with the love of his life but she had died several years prior. He didn't think he could ever love again but Elena has changed that. Their chemistry is electric and if they can both stay alive they may actually make an arranged marriage work! Read Savage Secrets to find out if Elena survives!

This book is yet another great addition to this series. This book ratchets up the intensity and pressure on our core group of characters. The Italian Mafia bosses and their spouses bring Elena Caruso back into the fold after a four year absence, which was done to protect her from the Russian Mafia. Mafia boss Marco La Rosa has loved Elena for years, but always kept his distance due to an arranged marriage that is no longer in play. Elena is a cousin to Max and Tony Caruso, but was raised as Tony’s adopted sister until the summer she disappeared and was presumed to be dead. The surprise twists and turns in this book will keep you guessing (though, perhaps you’ll solve it early, but doubt yourself until the reveal like I did) until the end. The best rule of thumb in this series, and especially this book, is not everything is what it seems to be. This book can be read as a standalone, but is so much better as a part of the series it belongs in.

Savage Secrets is a very fitting title for the 4th book in the Mafia Elite series. There was so much going on in this book that caught me off guard. It is action packed, and lots of surprised and twists. I loved it. While the book mainly focuses on Elena and Marco, there is added details to the other family members along the way. While you probably could read the book out of the series, I wouldn't recommend it. They are all wonderful, and the characters and their stories overlap. The Five Families are all married into each other, in this new generation Chicago mafia series. The characters are great, and I love that the women are strong independent women, with an amazing support system for each other. At the same time, the men have a softer side that shows when around their sisters or wives. I can't wait to finish the series, as I'm totally hooked.

Continuing to love each and every book that I have read by this author! The latest in the Mafia Elite series, this book has you hooked from the first page. I started it the moment I had it in my Kindle library, it may have taken me awhile to finish it but that was only because of my busy work schedule! This book can easily be devoured in a weekend, maybe even a day if you are a dedicated reader with time on your hands.
Elena Caruso is no stranger to anyone who has read the previous books in the series, so when I found out that Savage Secrets was about her story with Marco, I knew it wouldn’t take much for me to get hooked! I’ve always loved the enemies to lovers, arranged marriage genre of romance fiction, and this book proved to me just how much I do! It amazes me how the author continues to impress me time and time again, I know that I will never be disappointed when I get the chance to read one of her stories!

The author has hit it out of the park with this continued series. I can not get enough of this tight knit group of Italian mafia family friends. Elena has been in hiding for so long. At the end of the last book, her secret came out that she was still alive. The family went nuts. Now things have gotten too dangerous with the Russian mafia that she has to be found. Who will find her first? The Russians or the Italians? This book had so many shocks for Elena that your heart will be pulled in so many directions. If you have read the previous books, this is a must read for sure. The author brings these characters to life in each book, you feel like you would want to be friends and know them. Amazing writing.

This is the fourth book in the series. It could be read as a standalone, but I feel like I would have connected better to the characters if I’d read the previous books. That being said, you won’t be lost if you pick this up out of order like I did. There’s enough backstory to get you caught up.
The story starts out with action and just keeps going. Since the two main characters are previously acquainted, there’s already an attraction right at the start due to that history so it has an insta-love feel. If you like mafia romances, this one is pretty on par with the genre.

I swear this series just gets better and better, I hope the next book isn't the last one as I don't want to say goodbye for a long time.
This was a book that many of us who have read from the start have been waiting for and it certainly didn't disappoint. Hence I couldn't not add it to my top reads of '22 list.
A lot of the lingering questions get answered in this one hence I'm keeping my review vague and short.

What another fantastic read by this author! I do not think I have found anything I haven’t loved by her! The way she writes just catches your attention from the beginning sucks you in and keeps you wanting more.

This is book 4 in the series, and I can’t believe how good this series is! I’m used to series falling off after the 2nd or 3rd book. But here we are, book 4 and it’s just as good as the others. From book 1 I was hoping we would get to have a book about Elena and I’m so glad we did. The mafia world with its twists and turns is has been created beautifully in this series. I can’t wait to finish the entire series with books 5-7!

Marco and Elena have loved each other since they were kids, but being mafia royalty is a hard life. Elena was targeted from a young age due to her mother's past and Marco pulled back from her as kids because he knew she was already promised to another. As Elena got older she went in to hiding to protect everyone from the Russian mafia as they were the ones trying to find her. Marco goes to get her as this may be the only way to truly keep her safe is to bring her back to her family and to be married into the mafia heads as added protection. Could there love truly prevail after all this time apart?

Yet again another fantastic read from this author. I don’t think I will ever tire of reading her stories they always grab my attention from the first page until the last. There was honestly so much going on in this story I was definitely on the edge of my seat at times. I loved Marco and Elena’s story; it was fantastic to read. I really loved Elena, with everything she had to contend with she showed such strength of character when faced with danger. Marco has this wonderful mafia dark broodiness to him and the fierce protective side which I loved! He’s definitely swoon-worthy!!
As always, I cannot wait to read more from this author! She is a firm favourite of mine!

Marco La Rosa is the underboss of his family, being groomed since he was young to one day take over and lead the Italian American mafia family. When Elena, princess to one of the other Five Families, is targeted by their enemy, the Russian mafia, Marco knows he’s her only chance of survival, even if she doesn’t. The surest way to protect her is to marry her. Like that will go over well. Lots of action and romance, makes for an exciting read!

I am so glad that I stumbled upon this author a few months ago, I have LOVED the Mafia Elite series. This is Elena and Marco’s story. Elena has been running to stay alive, and she finally comes home, Marco is excited to know that she is alive and rushes to save her. The build up with the first three books left me waiting anxiously for this book. The wait was well worth it. Now to wait for book 5. I can’t get enough of these mafia families.

Second chance romances have a special place in my heart and this one hit that for me. While suspenseful it was also packed with everything else you could want or need.
Being on the run for 4 years only to find you've been found is where our leading lady finds herself. When push comes to shove decisions are made to keep everything going how it needs to be for everyone. I really do love this series and cannot wait for the next one.

Oh my goodness this book is so good! I absolutely loved it. I couldn’t put it down until the very last page. The mafia background, the arranged marriage, the secret crushes, from frenemies to lovers. This is the best book I’ve read so far. I am becoming more and more a fan of this authors books. She writes awesome stories. Can’t wait to read more.

Marco La Rosa had always loved only Elena, but she was not his to love. When Marco is told she is still alive, he sets out to bring her back. Will he reach her in time? Will she go along with the families’ plans for her?

I couldn’t devour this book quick enough. I was so excited seeing this title hit my kindle. I adore anything written by this author. She just knows how to bring all of her characters to life and hit all the right buttons to keep me focused on them!! I can’t wait to read book five!!

Elena Caruso is a beautiful young woman who is running away from her past so that she can keep herself and those she loves safe from harm and for a while it has worked, that is until one day when she receives a communication from someone saying that she has been found. Marco La Rosa is the boss of a branch of the La Rosa family, one of the Five Mafia Families in Chicago and he is as handsome as he is deadly, but the one thing that he has wanted disappeared from his life, but just when he thought he had come to terms with that, she pops back up on his radar and he will do anything to find her.
As Elena starts off her daily routine, she goes through the motions of her life while making sure that there is nobody following or watching her, just like she has done everyday since she left behind everything she knew, she enjoys what she has created for herself. As a standoff ensues, Marco rounds a corner to the scene and when Elena is injured, he sees red and kills the man responsible, quickly followed by scooping her into his arms, taking her to safety and looking after her until he can take her home.
Will Elena and Marco be able to overcome the hurdles between them and keep her safe from the dangers which are quickly closing in on her, or will they be ripped apart by circumstance again? Elena grew up as a princess to the Chicago Mafia, a member of the Five Families. She was adopted by Nicole Caruso, wife of the head of the Caruso family after her mother was murdered by the Bratva, and another attempt was made as she grew, leading to the death of another one of the Five Families kids. As an adopted kid, she always felt a little...less than the rest of them, despite her strong relationship with her mama and friendships with the other daughters. As the families grew older, she was promised to marry Enzo. After another attempt on her life Elena decided to run and remove the target from her family and friends, leaving behind everything she knew. In an effort to keep them protected, she didn't even search for information about them online, changed her name, continued to change her appearance and keep her skills sharp.
After she was located by the Bratva, Elena was lucky enough to get a warning and grabbed her go bag to run - just to find her childhood crush, Marco La Rosa at her door. Elena and Marco grew up together, but as they got older he began to distance himself from her and then thought she was dead when she disappeared and covered her tracks. He received word she was alive and came to bring her home himself, and was in time to save her life.
On the way back to Chicago, Elena learned she had a new brother running the family, some of the members of the families had been murdered, and that her new brother Max Caruso is the new head of the family and arranged a marriage for her to Marco. While she spent much of her life with feelings for Marco, she has no clue of his feelings for her or that this is anything other than a marriage of covenience. What she finds out is that he has loved her for a long time, drew away due to her arranged marriage to another of the families, and thought he had lost her once. Marco refuses to let her out of his sight or into danger again without him by her side.
This book has lots of action, and I love how much the women are included in decisions and how tough and capable they are! Elena thought she not only didn't fit in exactly, but that everyone would hate her for lying to them and running away, but after 5 years away she has found how much she missed everyone and how much they've missed her. Being back in Chicago, she is able to spend time with Nicole again, learn about why the Bratva is so determined to find her, learn about the relationships amongst the new heads of the families and find her relationship with Marco. Neither wants a marriage with no love involved and make an effort to be open and honest with one another. After so much time lost, Marco and Elena are a real force to be reckoned with and have lost time to make up for.
As with the rest of the Mafia Elite series, I love the relationship and world building in this book. The passion is obvious, the action is exciting, the mystery is intriguing, there is lots of twists and turns. While these books are all great standalone stories, they're even better when you read them all.
