I am glad to end 2025 with catching up with this fun series. Kaoru is joined by her dear friend Reiko after Kaoru spent a few days (seventy years) is stasis. I thought this was a great way for the author to start a new story arc.
I've enjoyed all of FUNA's series and while Karou and Potions was my third favorite, I loved the stories greatly. A time jump leaving behind all the old characters save Karou? Adding in her friend from earth with copycat(ish) powers. The heart and flow of the story crashed. Time skips rarely work and didn't this time. Karou's earth friend is a flat addition (as opposed to the Power Trio in the Average series). If the author had ran out of story ending at Vol 5 with Karou's death was the perfect end.
Sadly, I'm done with this series now. But highly recommend first 5 volumes.
I like the first half of the volume. I don’t understand the reason for making Karou disappear into the item box and not be noticed by celes. Also why is the god from earth allowing Karou’s friends to reincarnate into her world? I feel like the story had more to offer with Karou and her friends of her new world. I’m still happy about the last chapter but we’ll see.
It's giving 'she woke up and it was all a dream' vibes. Also it's played off as funny, but there's legit abuse between friends in one scene. I enjoyed previous books in this series but I'm dropping it here.
This was a terrific volume. The previous volumes were getting a bit dull for me, but this one tied all the loose ends together while displaying fancy, unexpected knots. There was an unexpected death, an unexpected new character, the resolution of the evil priest plot line, strong characterization, nostalgia, sentimentality, funny lines, and good comedic timing. FUNA put it all together beautifully in this volume.
