“Rescued” is a strong word for Ms. Lewis’s relationship with her dog, though I understand the need for a gripping title. She was having a rough time, adopted a puppy, had problems with the puppy, and made changes in her life. This could have been a great short magazine article but is very self-indulgent as a book.
