I have a lot to say about this specific volume. First and foremost -- this one is by far my favorite. There is so much going on and it all blends together so smoothly. You get a little bit of everything. Black ★ Star is his usual self, of course, but there is so much more to him here than we got to see before. The story is just ... flawless. With the Kim/Jackie sub-stor
I love the anime of this book. I love the characters and the humor and the amazing story.... that being said.... WHAT!?! My gosh I never saw this stuff coming and it is just awesome! I love Tsubaki and Black Star's new form. The drawing and artwork for them is just beautiful and I like how they got there better then the anime. Ox and Kim are just hilarious and so adorible. Then Kid and Free's battle with mosquito was great as mosquito kept changing forms. BUT the last like 5 or 6 pages were mind ...more

I don't really know how to describe this other than weird. There was no fan service for once which was better. The story didn't really make sense, but the art was good and the battle scenes were good.

So to put it simply, I don't normally give a manga series that looks like scrapped Tim Burton characters and more action than substance a rating this high. To put it specifically; Soul Eater is balls out entertaining as balls with balls on top. It's a prototypical school-fantasy series that tries to be Harry Potter and the Nightmare Before Christmas, tries cocaine, develops a split personality and decides that it's both. And I'm not trying to fanboy but Soul Eater was the perfect show to start o ...more

I love this cover!!

Black Star is probably my favorite of the students. He's a great character and I like his attitude on life. His weapon is pretty cool, and I enjoyed this semi-back story volume dedicated to him! Go Black Star go!!

The battle for Baba Yaga Castle continues as Black Star rejoins the gang, by in typical Black Star fashion mounting a solo-frontal assault on the castle. He's markedly improved, and at peace with himself and Tsubaki as he returns. We also see a resolution to the immediate crisis in the Ox/Kim subplot. Clearly there are some serious throw downs coming.

Great! We follow our heroes into the depths of Arachniphobia's headquarters, as they attempt to shut down the Moral Manipulation machine. The manga definitely doesn't follow the anime, but it's much better, honestly. Ox, Kim and Jackie get much more face-time, and the character development is sensational. This volume starts Black Star's third battle with the sword master Mifune, and Ox and a brainwashed Kim fight...each other! The Ox<3Kim story is so sweet, and in the end we follow Kid as he ...more
