Revolt Against Reality - Fighting the Foes of Sanity and Truth- from the Serpent to the State

Rate this book
We seem to be living in an age of insanity. Crimes against children, born and unborn; marriage defiled and redefined; the madness of transgenderism; the looming terror of trans-human-ism . . . the list goes on and on. And it’s getting uglier out there every day. Everywhere you look, the culture is twisting truth into lies and lies into truth.

How did we get to this bizarre point in history? More importantly, how can we fight the tide of insanity and win reality back?

In Revolt Against Reality , Gary Michuta ( Hostile Witnesses, Why Catholic Bibles Are Bigger ) explains how an army of liars, manipulators, and bad actors has conspired literally from the beginning to thwart God’s plan for man—a plan of order and peace, centered on the Incarnation of Jesus Christ. Michuta takes you step by step through history, unmasking the enemies of faith and reason in every age—all the way back to Satan himself, who in the Garden of Eden promised that we could become our own gods.

Since then, every error, heresy, and moral abomination has been part of the same intricate network of lies, designed by the Father of Lies, to wrench us from what makes sense and trap us in a prison of contradiction and chaos.

We’ll never restore sanity to the world until we know how the enemy operates. Read Revolt Against Reality and you’ll understand his age-old tactics . . . and you’ll be prepared to fight back!

I bought the audiobook version of this. I already had a paperback of it I previously read. This is just such a jammed-pack overview of history that starts in the Garden of Eden. An acute analysis of what happens when you ignore reality and try to impose your own gloss over it.

A good view of history and the ideas that have helped us to get where we are today. Worth reading.

Comprehensive historical account of how we got to where we are...where reality seems to bend to the will of man. It talks about the various threats the Catholic church has faced in the past and how it had a compound effect, little challenges here and there that chipped away at the faith.

Thought-provoking and a little scholarly that history buffs would also enjoy.

Gary Michuta gives an excellent overview of world history and the consequences and results of good and bad ideas and philosophies throughout history that lead us to where the world is today. This book is a must read and should be required reading in any high school or college world history or philosophy class.

I think most of us have had a day, possibly a number of days, in recent times when we felt as if the world was spinning out of control. Pick a topic - differing opinions abound. No problem - variety can add salt and makes the world go round. But it is an entirely different experience when we are confronted with social requirements to support untruths and are requested to lie about reality. Contrary to some popular opinions, some truth is not relative and 'your truth vs my truth' just doesnt work. Gary Michuta in "Revolt Against Reality - Fighting the Foes of Sanity and Truth" looks at how the path of twisting truth began in Eden and continues in its various forms today. In the early chapters he outlines God's plan for humanity and how it got sidetracked - and how the Church has defended the various warpings of God's plan [heresies]. He probes Christological developments that arose out of a need to defend the Divinity of Christ. He dives into how Christianity developed as a way to battle religion and cultural evolution. Michuta continues focusing on more modern issues such as feminism, transgenderism, fake news, and how the need for the lowest common denominator has diluted our strongest truths.
Easy read. Well laid out. Some early chapters felt repetative but in the end everything tied together nicely. [4/5]

Great Wide Angle Peek into history of mankind

It is a rare talent to be able to take a step back and look at a given situation and see the whole picture. Gary Matuta has literally taken a hard look at all of human history through a Catholic lens. Not only that, he has made his book interesting, and easy enough for a commoner like me to understand! Sure, he tells us how the missteps have taken us down a dark path since the Garden of Eden, but he closes with Windows of Hope that a change for the better is already happening!

Read it slowly and don’t hesitate to reread sections and underline as well as write notes on a page. A very interesting read and I guarantee there will be parts the reader may nat agree with or question. I’m glad I chose to read this particular book for my nonfiction before taking a break and going to fiction reads. I found it very informative and logical.

Interesting historical book. Helps to provide a bigger picture of how different ideologies have developed from the fall to present day. A comprehensive task that doesn't provide much detail in some chapters.

I thought the development of nominalism on protestant thought from the protestant revolution to modern day was insightful and worth reading.

Excellent journey through history through the lens of reality vs the distortions of true theology (especially nominalism) that have led to where we are now. Will we continue down the path of revolting against reality or is there hope?
