Three men Sybelle Strange never expected to see after they left her for their transition. In the three years they had been gone, she never once thought they would return, especially not after they had gone missing.
And she didn’t expect them to show up turned into nightmares.
But there is a price on her head, and the three of them are the only thing that stands in the way of the Monstera King of the East Coast getting his hands on her, and they take their job very seriously.
Because she was theirs, once upon a time. And they have come home to collect what was promised.
Boring. Definitely not a fan of 3rd person POV with so many characters. Also not a fan that the female MC doesn't have prior partners but the male MCs were out dipping their d*cks while completely aware they had a mate.
DNF Spoilers maybe? I wanted to love this book, it has a lot of things that I love, no mm, monsters willing to kill for their girl. But there was something that kept me from enjoying this book the fact that the girl was a virgin all along she was waiting for the men meanwhile they couldn't care less and fucked everything, ok they had to because, reasons, but there's a scene she says she would kill herself before other guy touched her, where is this type of thinking when it comes to the guys?! They were saving women under the nose of the king I can't believe if they really wanted they couldn't have kept themselves for the girl. I wouldn't be mad if the girl had moved on with her life, had a couple of bfs, why not?, but nooo you have to keep the trope of the virginal woman, I hate it!!! There's even a time that they said they were glad she was a virgin or she wouldn't enjoy their kinks. That a big load of bullshit!! So yeah I could have loved this book... But they kept reminding me that they fucked a lot of girls while she was a virgin all along. Nope this pissed me off in so many levels that I didn't finish it.
Sybelle Strange is living in a time of fractals , men just really not themselves anymore and have an inner monster . Women have three or more men as her mates . Sybelle is special and after three years the men that have been hers since they were young, Come back to take her away and hide her because the Monstera King wants her for himself , She is theirs and noone will take her away from them . They maybe monsters but they are hers and they will do whatever it takes to keep her . Ok now these characters where to start , I loved them and really got invested in them all of them . Sybelle is one of those women who come off as sweet but man this woman is one tough cookie. She is also loving and wants to just be loved . Now lets talk the men in this book oh my goodness . We have Thorn Balthazar and Atticus . They are all so sexy and dominant but also monsters . Thorn is well he is I am trying to figure out his monster . He loves to cook and take care of everyone and is well wicked in bed . Baltazar is more the protector and the comedian of the group . He is well I say he comes from the depths of hell and is like a bat in so many ways . He loves blood play with Sybelle. Now for my favourite monster Atticus , he is very stoic a real thinker but oh my so sexy . I would call him like a leviathan from the sea . He has tentacles and boy they sound like fun . Each man is strong and ready to fight for the one they love but together they will burn down the world to keep her safe . Right off the bat I am going to tell you that this might not be the book for some people . If you like a little deviant behavior and monster sex . This is the book for you , I mean the authors really take you on an adventure ride . Yes this is a reverse harem but it is also so much more . It is a love story that started when they were just kids . There are a lot of twists and turns that will have you on the edge of your seat and there are a lot of smexy times where you might get your fingers burnt from the heat coming off your kindle . I really loved the kind of sci fi vibe it gave off also . I read this book in an evening and I will say this is the first book in a long time that gave me a book hangover . I strongly recommend this book to anyone who wants to add some monsters to their life . Check it out .
I’m enjoying the authors’ vision for shifters, myths, etc. The story has great world building and I was immersed immediately. I really loved how badass Sybelle is. Although I was a fan of all three men, I’m stealing Thorn. I had to fan myself when he came on the page. Not sure if I intended the pun or not… Anywho, if you like your stories a little darker and a lot more monstery, I would highly recommend. Also, now I have to find a place that serves fish laksa because that sounds amazing.
Let me just take a minute to say I am totally jealous of a fictional character. Sybelle is a lucky lady. Atticus, Thorne and Balthazar are smokin’ hot and totally in love with Sybelle. (Legit, I have heart eyes.)
A little background on this story. In the world created, fractals appear in the sky out of no where. They change everything for current and future human generations. The fractals either killed or put men in a coma. Women, being the boss bitches that they are, step up to the plate and work on keeping order and understanding what their new situation. Men started waking up a day after, but they were changed. The world is thrown into chaos, but this wasn’t the first time monsters appeared in Earths history.
Future generations of men would begin their change at the age of 26. Sybelle, Atticus, Thorne and Balthazar were inseparable since childhood. All the guys loved and adored her and they all remained together until the boys left to undergo their transformations. Sybelle didn’t know that’d be the last time she would see them. Never knowing if they survived, she did her best to continue through life and not be taken by monsters and forced to be their mate.
Three years later, they turn up at her work and throw her whole life into chaos. They stake their claims on her and even though her heart has always been theirs, she is not impressed with their lack of respect for her feelings. Their methods are extremely questionable when it comes to her safety.
All three reveal that they’ve become monstera - the most feared and darkest of monsters men became after the fratuals. Sybelle is surprisingly okay with this development. The road following this information is extremely rocky with a huge threat to all of their lives.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Immediately hooked on this book! Sybelle is fearless and stands up for what she wants and believes. Atticus, Thorn and Balthazar are the sexiest monsters with teeth, tentacles and claws. (A little affinity to liking blood too but who’s keeping score?)
The writing immerses you in this crazy new world that humans must live in. It’s imaginative, scary, and original. I could not put it down. There is a HEA (sprinkled with a little bit of sadness) and I am really looking forward to the next book in the series.
This book has it all. "Teeth, tentacles and claws" is not just a tagline. It's a new world and it's done with such intrigue it's hard to put the book down. There are various factions of fractals and they all have their territory so to speak. But nothing is ever that simple, now is it? There is a blending of the factions of course. But the world alone is something you can get lost in. It's not overly complex to where you get bored reading it, but it's intriguing enough to keep you hooked. Then there are the characters. They're all amazing in their rights. From physical aspects to personality quirks. It's incredibly difficult to not add spoilers because it's just THAT good. I'm obsessed with the monster aspect of it. It's tasteful yet you don't lose that unique monster-esque quality either. The sex is dirty, not spicy as the authors say in their hashtags. There's also plenty of it. But it does NOT deter from the storyline. It's balanced quite well. It is fast-paced as far as the sexual aspect goes, but that's because of the circumstances of the characters themselves.
OH MY STARS. This book was nonstop go and passion. The authors transported me into a sci-fi future that is both realistic and fantastical. You can help but fall in love with all the characters. By the end I wanted to be a part of their "team."
Monsters are real and women get 3 each in this book. That's every females dream! Action packed, funny and so so sexy. I need book 2 now.
I got this book as an ARC reader. I wrote. this review of my own volition.
Marked by Monsters takes reverse harem to another level. Sybelle has known her guys for years. Since they have been kids, they have all known that they were mates, but the guys also knew on their 26 birthday they would shift into the unknown monster. Atticus, Balthazar, Thorn left when it was time to turn. And they stay gone for 3 long years with Sybelle not knowing if they were died or alive. She continues her life in the city. Try to hide from the kings’ men until her guys just show back up because the Monstera King wants Sybelle for himself now. So, they will protect her and make up for lost time with her but for first she wants answers. You get to love Sybelle even though she missed them and loves them, she doesn’t take crap from them. Atticus might be all power but when it comes to Sybelle she has him wrap around finger. I love Balthazar aka Batty for many reasons, but he is funny as hell. And Thorn is sexy, and he can cook. Please give me one of each. I love all the twist and turn the book took me on but in the end, I could not have asked for any better finishing. I can’t wait to see what the crew is up to in book 2.
This book really does have it all when it says "Teeth, tentacles and claws" these authors weren't kidding !! This book is great, its different than most books out there right now and that's why I liked it, it's also what made it almost impossible for me to put down once I started reading it. The plot line was fast moving and well written. The characters were fleshed out, thoroughly researched and worked well together as a group! I loved that the FMC was not a weak character but sassy and confident and her men were also just as strong!! Their physical and personality quirks are awesome and you will have to read the book to find out just how much interesting they all are 😉 plus the steamy aspects of this book are just WOW they are hot this is not for someone who is afraid of spiciness in a book so if you want a tame book this is not for you!! Overall it's a fantastic book with lots of fun quirks and twists and turns and tentacles haha and I loved it and I think you will to so check it out!!
Unlike anything I have ever read, in the best possible way! Full of delicious monster goodness, a tough-as-nails heroine, sexy Monstera mates, and 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
The authors created a brilliantly unique world, with such interesting concepts and creatures. This book was packed full of action, sexy times, and science-fictionesque brilliance! I absolutely adored Sy. She was strong, loyal, loving and caring. The soul deep love she had for her men was limitless, nothing could or would change that.
And Atticus, Thorn and Balthazar…holy monster hotness! Not only were the sexy times off the charts, like I mean I have never read anything like it before and holy goodness was it epic, but their chemistry, passion and love for Sy showed in everything they did (and in their love for one another).
This book was brilliant and I can’t wait to see where their story takes them next!
In true Dogmas Avery style this book does not disappoint. Love the characters and the back story. Good set up for more books in the Ghost Crews Series. If you love a true love that never waivers or doubts and 3 sexy monsters. Then you'll love this book.
I am always amazed at the amount of work authors put in to fully plotting out a story. This is one of those books. I look forward to seeing where this series goes. 5 stars means I could read this again multiple times.
As always Dagmar Avery put out an amazing story. Steamy as hell with action, wonderfully plotted story and of course a bad ass heroine with men that complete her in all ways. Can't wait to read more from this series.
I absolutely lived this book and could not put it down. I never realized how much I loved monsters before I read this. I cannot see more set in this world with these characters and more.
Omg I can’t believe it. Such a great book I couldn’t put it down the ups and downs and the Strength of the female character was absolutely perfect with the monsters of the book I really enjoyed reading I couldn’t put it down
A very good and very spicy read. I really enjoyed getting to read this book and I loved how much of a fast burn it is. Definitely a must-read monster romance!
So many of my favorite things… Strong and sassy FMC, friends to lovers, post-(sorta)apocalypse, unique and great world building, three possessive and dominant AF men in the harem. So in this post-(sorta)apocalyptic world, society still exists but is very different than the world we know today. At 26 men go through a transformation where their internal (previously mythological) monster is revealed, or they don’t survive. Most of the surviving men can handle this easily and they all work together within happy reverse harem setups to build their families. Some men though, their monster brings out the darkness within them and they become evil, power hungry and vicious. After waiting for her guys for three years after their transformations, they show up suddenly and tell her that her life is in danger. The most evil of men, the Monstera King of the East Coast, wants her. I loved this story of Sybelle and her men;Thorn, Balthazar, and Atticus. Their time on the run, time reconnecting and building their SPICY bonds, bloody battles…it was all fantastic. With such great world building, I’m so excited for more books in the Ghost Crews series.
This was a good read. I enjoyed the writing. I loved the characters. Kinda wish we actually got to see the battle instead of it happening off page. But a good read.
I really wanted to love this book, but I just couldn’t get into the story.
This book is written in 3rd person and with four characters I couldn’t get into that style of POV. It made it hard for me to connect to who was speaking and get a feel for the individual characters.
Secondly, I had an issue with a few things in the beginning of the book. I didn’t like that after the characters were reunited you find out our MFC is a virgin, but not only are they guys not - apparently, even when they were together as besties with a promised future the guys were sleeping around? I’m not sure how the guys can state they have loved this girl since they were 4 but rejected her while sleeping around with others. It really kicked me out of the romance. I don’t need virgin characters , but when you are supposed to convince me of life long friends being head over heels that’s not the way to do it. Not to mention, it’s like there is this constant reminder they have slept around..which again, really? I just couldn’t.
Also, after reuniting , which the guys did not execute well at all - Belle is pissed and refuses to sleep with them since that was their main intention and then we turn a page and BAM - she’s telling one of them to take her and they mess around. I love fast burn, but I feel like just let it be fast burn then. I was expecting some tension and groveling after belle told the guys off and it didn’t happen. It made me lose respect for her.
I know it seems like I’m complaining , and I suppose I am but I’m not doing it with the intention to deter readers, but more so give my honest opinion of what to expect. There are some good bones to this book, which is why I gave it 3 stars. The plot is well written, the world building is intricate and executed well, and although I’m not a fan of the Intro into the spice , it’s well written in regards to packing a punch with the heat.
I just don’t think the characters and POV are my choice of tea so I won’t be continuing with this series. However, I totally understand readers giving it a shot.
I have to be honest a lot of the times books that are written in 3rd person point of view go on my DNF list but I absolutely could not put this book down. Dagmar and Aurora were able to create a unique narrative while still keeping their reader interested even when the point of view is something they may not be used to.
This book had me guessing what was going to happen next and I was on the edge of my seat the whole way through.
When everyone’s world is flipped upside down from the fractuals happened. Men aren’t quite themselves anymore. They go through a change at the age of 26 they either shift or they don’t make it. The things they can shift into are beasts of different natures. Women also go through a change where they need at least 3 men to conceive whereas one can no longer suffice.
When Sybelle’s men head off to the facility where they go to before their 26th birthdays she doesn’t hear from them for 3 years…thinking they worst has happen only for them to show up to the bar she is working at.
From there their story really gets going. A Monstera King that wants to take Sybelle from her men and so much more.
Definitely give this book a try, it’s not something I usually would read but I LOVED every second of it and can’t wait to see what happens next for Sybelle and her monsters.
I totally loved this book! Its has everything that i like and enjoy in a book!
This is a PRN RH with an amazing plot and the right amount of spiciness that made me not able to let the book down until I finished.
We follow our FMC named Sybelle Strange, in a postapocalyptic world, where males at ages of 26 turn into a type of shifter creatures. Part of the states is ruled by a King, The Monstera King, who all he wants is for more power and reproduce more powerful creatures to control, so he is looking for specific women to join his harem... even if its not willingly, and he is after our Sybelle.
But her 3 boys, Atticus, Thorn and Balthazar, who she tough were gone, will do everything to stop him, using all of their teeth, tentacles and claws.
Loved this book! The world building is incredible. The plot is gives you something to sink your teeth into, and the character dynamics create a world that creates a thrilling reading experience. I can't wait to see what else is to come!
Spoilers ahead after the cut. Spoilers everywhere.
Maybe this rating was on me. I anticipated d this book so much and all I felt at the end was disappointment. It had all the makings of something I really would enjoy, but if I'm being honest, the best parts of the book were when the guys were separated from Sybelle, and that happened around the 80% mark. I liked the universe that this was set in, but that may be the only thing I can say. I CAN tell you what I didn't like about his one.
Ready? Here we go.
***Remember, you've been warned about the spoilers***
Bit of world history. Due to the fractals, males in society undergo a change on their 26th birthday which essentially makes them shifters of different classes. Some are vampires. Some shift into monsters. Some shift into spiders, you get the idea. Sy (nickname since we're friends and all) has three men that she has essentially been in a relationship with since they were in high school. She has been close to one since she was seven years old. At some point after high school, they lived with each other, but stuck to forehead kisses and mostly nonsexual contact during this time. She does end up kissing one and asking him to sleep with her, but he turns her down.
So, these three go away on the verge of their 26th birthday and are not heard from again. Three years go by and our heroine has tried to move on. At this point, it is assumed that the three are dead and didn't survive the change. She doesn't date anyone. Doesn't sleep with anyone. No relationships whatsoever. She is too heartbroken over the loss. One night, the three just show up. Did I mention this is three years later? Show up and drug her to kidnap her. Surprise!! They tell her that they all three are monster class and just couldn't get away to get to her. They found her name on a list of women slated to be picked up by the king (just roll with it) for his breeding program and realized that they couldn't just let that happen. So our home girl is angry. Angry because they never contacted her. Angry that they let her think they were dead. So, like any rational woman, what does she do? She bangs them each one at a time. She confesses that she hasn't been with anyone else while they were gone. It never felt right. But, as she spends time with them, she finds out that the three years they were gone, they were sleeping with other women. Why, when they were fated to be together you say? Because they were trying to fit in when they were given women. They make it sound like they had a handful of women that were assigned to them, so they weren't one night stands, but something on the regular. One admits to her that it was seven women. In the scenes where the guys are together, they even talk about being with other women and joke with each other. And our plucky heroine, what is her response? She rushes to ask the guys if they hurt the women they slept with because of their monster form. Did they hurt the women? Were they ok? She's not jealous at all. Just concerned for the women. That the guys slept with. While they let her think they were dead. Because she's just that cool. I think my brain exploded at this point. Because that's the rational reaction. There's a whole buch of other ridiculousness, but I'm tired and I've given this book enough of my time.
I enjoyed the creativity and world building that took place in this book. I think the authors can do a lot with what they created, especially doing some side stories and spinoffs. I like that they had a history to explain different aspects and also some revelations that further story. I would have enjoyed more explanations or elaboration on some of the different factions because I found the world so fascinating.
This book was written in third person point of view, which if done well, is very effective. Even though we weren’t in the character’s head for their personal point of views, the authors were still able to showcase and describe their emotions.
The female main character was strong and loyal. I had some likes and dislikes when it came to the boys. I think some of the same thoughts that I saw in other reviews in regards to them sleeping with other women even though they loved her while she remained a virgin for them. Wasn’t a huge fan but it was addressed in the story. I like that they each had their own rapport with the FMC. In most RHs it’s kind of an equal amount of love but I feel like she loved one of them more than the others, they even touched on how their relationship was longer then the others. However, they did all love each other and were doing what was best for their relationship.
The ending was surprising because I wasn’t sure how it was going to work after some plans had been made. I think it’s kind of a happily for now ending.
The authors created this interesting and elaborate new world and I’m looking forward to seeing what they end up doing with it and if they will focus on this story and these characters or continue to expand.
Sybelle She is a very strong woman, with a firm character, she knows what she wants and what she doesn't! I loved that she opened up to her boys, there were no doubts when it came to being with them, the connection, the skin, the love she has for each other No matter what monster they become, she fully loves them.
About the boys, what to say? THEY ARE VERY HOT 🤭😏🤤, I read the book in 2 days I couldn't put it down.
I would have liked a little more action from Atticus in the final scene, to know what his power is and how he killed the King.
I hope they give us a second part, I need to know how Blue grows and if more babies are on the way, or if Atticus manages to turn the city into light so that his girl and friends can be safe again and together again The ending DEFINITELY left me WANTING MORE! 🥺🙏🏻

“Teeth, tentacles, and claws” … I never knew how much I needed monsters in my life until this book! It’s a SPICY, friends to lovers’ story; it’s amazing. I guess we can call this post-apocalyptic. Fractals came to Earth and suddenly men were no longer just men. Men at the age of 26 go through their transition in which they turn into some type of mythological monster, or don’t survive at all. There are many different classes of monsters. Women now need at least three men to reproduce (can I get in on this?) After years separating them, Sybelle and her three best friends are reunited: Balthazar, Thorn, and Atticus. Non-mated women are being kidnapped off the streets. They are forced to go on the run because the evil Monstera King of the East Coast is hunting for Sybelle. I really enjoyed this book. It’s dark, and dirty. There’s no sugarcoating – it’s twisted, bloody, and glorious. The romance is very spicy, very well written, and full of passion. For dark monsters, her guys treat Sybelle like a queen. She’s fearless, and sassy. She stands up for her beliefs. The men are dark, dangerous, gritty, and raw. The worldbuilding is fantastic. I could not put it down. This can be read as a standalone, but it’s part of a series as well. I highly recommend it! I’m excited for the next one! 🖤
This story is about four friends who are ripped apart when the world changes, survival no matter what has happened to you since the world changed, and L O V E. Sybelle and her guys are going to run, the guys are being hunted, and Sybelle is in danger from being thrown into a harem of the Monstera King. These friends always knew they were going to be in a quad relationship. Everything that makes a monster scary make their presence known in this story, and not in a subtle way, and not in a scary way when Sybelle is around. I like paranormal/fantasy stories, but this one was very out of my comfort zone, it being about monsters. It is an entertaining read, its spicy AF, fantasy, mythos, and proves that things that go bump in the night are not always scary.
I literally inhaled this book and am super excited to get started on the next. The whole storyline kept me on the edge of my seat. It was just enough spice (yep definitely spicy!!) weaved in with the story to keep it balanced. The lead female (Sybelle) is a badass and her men or monsters are all equally as awesome as she is. Holy tentacles, teeth, and claws Batman ❤️ Hope to see the other characters again too! #TeamMonstera
I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters were fantastic. Sybelle Strange Grew up with Atticus ,Thorn and Balthazar when they left for their transition and didn’t return she presumed they hadn’t made it and got on with her life , three years later they return and tell her she’s in danger from the king of the monstera.
