Making a wish belongs in a children's picture book. This one is off to a good start, far as I'm concerned.

But does the moon need to have a face, engrossed in mugging at the nearest star in the sky?

As the child-simple plot unfolds, I do find it fascinating how everybody important has a face and a surreally cheery smile. You know, like the character called "Map."

I DO APPRECIATE THE PROBLEM SOLVING IN THIS DORA-BOOK

The plot defies logic (to this adult).
And the story may not be rich in subtlety,
but at least there are some words in Spanish;
also, there's a general worldview that one can find helpful friends everywhere.

I like that.

I'm not a Dora fan. Nor am I fan of branded merchandise in general - why should I pay good money to cultivate brand loyalty in my kid?

With that said, I'm even less a fan of this book than I would be, because it's not even as well-written as the episode it's based off of.

Save your money, and just let your kid watch TV.

I've never seen Dora the Explorer, but after reading a few books I have a fairly good idea why the preschoolers love her. Not the most exciting story for adults, but the series is a fun little interactive story. And in this case, who can resist trying to get the little star back home to the sky.

HUH. I must say, this book is beyond me. LOL. A little star that fell out from the sky? And needed Dora and Boots help to GO BACK in the SKY?? You kiddin' me? I guess that's why it's called Children's book. ;D

I like the first Dora's book I've read than this. It's more realistic? (maybe) than Dora the Explorer: Little Star. Oh well. For CHILDREN'S ONLY. :P
