Infuriating, sexy and seemingly everywhere, Penn Barnett is far too sexy for his own good. It seems like every woman in Rockhead Point has had a taste of the mountain man, and I can definitely see the appeal. When I literally fall into his orbit, he tells me I’m his the moment our eyes meet. But my life is anything but simple, and right now I just don’t have the time or energy for another complication in my world… no matter how hot he is. Only he isn’t prepared to take no for an answer… and he’s determined to make me his.
Now he’s everywhere I am, following me home and trying to take over my life. But I’m not the only woman who wants to be claimed by him and his ex has open access to my life, especially when I’m staying in her mom’s house. If I’m his and he’s mine, how come everything is trying to tear us apart? He wants to claim me, and I might want that too, but my life isn’t my own, and for the first time ever… the Barnett brothers’ legacy might not be as powerful as real life.
Gemma Weir is a half crazed stay at home mom to three kids, one man child and a hell hound. She has lived in the midlands, in the UK her whole life and has wanted to write a book since she was a child. Gemma has a ridiculously dirty mind and loves her book boyfriends to be big, tattooed alpha males. She's a reader first and foremost and she loves her romance to come with a happy ending and lots of sexy sex.
When Lulu bumps into Penn, literally, he’s instantly clear that he’s met her, “the one.”
“I own you, Lulu, I have since the moment I laid my eyes on you and I will for the rest of both of our lives. I’ll never let you go, never let you leave me, never let you run. We’re end game, Kitten.”
New to town, a bit jaded, and singularly focused, Lulu has no interest in men. That is if she can ignore his “thermonuclear good looks” and his alphahole demeanor she secretly craves.
Claimed by the Mountain Man follows their budding relationship amid a myriad unexpected struggles.
“Kitten, I’ve been in love with you since the moment I saw you. Doesn’t even begin to describe the depth of my feelings for you, but I suppose it’s a good place to start. I adore you, admire you, cover you, crave you. I want to shield you, care for you, protect you. I want to own you, consume you, corrupt you. Love is only four letters that could never truly convey how my very being starts and ends with you.“
Being back in Rockhead Point in the Barnett compound atop the mountain, seeing slices of life from our past couples was great. Each Barnett boy is swoonier than the last and I can’t wait to watch the rest of them fall like dominoes!

📣 Claimed by the Mountain Man is part of the Montana Mountain Man series, but no other books need to be read. There’s a HEA and CBTMM can be read as a standalone.
Immediate steamroll Just seconds after they bump into each other @3%, 32yo car-workshop owner H is already “mine”-claiming stranger, 24yo paralegal h. Then kissed her, after saying something like 3 words to her. He was so OTT cavemanish with h & so immediately sure that she was "the One". It was hilarious! Loved the romantic ridiculousness of his insta-love for her and her reactions to him. She was understandably shocked by his instant intensity & runs away from him to her new office to report his assault of her. Due to his family's legendary insta-love history in their Montana small town, no cops were called.
4-star for H's character H was a known player & charmer in their town. He was also responsible and caring with his family. Loved how H became so into h because he'd never been like that with any other woman. And he kept proving that it wasn't temporary. He was relentless in his charming but insistent pursuit to get h & her 6-month-old daughter (conceived via in-vitro) to move in with him ASAP. It was a battle of wills since h wasn't that easily persuaded & resisted him. But he'd laugh off her attempts since he was so certain for both of them. So, by day3, she let him smex her. His chasing her didn't feel creepy or cruel. Nor her quick consenting to him seem cheap or weak. He was attuned to her needs/wants & showed it. It also helped that he welcomed her and her baby into his big rowdy family and she was able to see how trustworthy & caring H generally was. By day7 (@55%), he managed to get her & her baby moved in with him.
3-star for h's character She was likable too with her mix of sass & quiet caution, niceness & feistiness. Just didn't like that she became romantically jaded due to empty promises of her past boyfriends.
Like a novella but longer What I find different about Weir's books so far (this is my 4th Weir read) is it's smutty-novella feel but with longer pages so we get more explanation, time, and discussion with H&h. As a result, the insta-love is more fully fleshed-out and realistic questions/issues around it are better handled. Both were able to delve into h's trust issues and H's manwhore past better. @ the end/epilogue, their quickie wedding & h's inevitable pregnancy didn't seem so impulsive and their HEA is more believable.
Sexual History: 24yo h had past BFs, including her last college-football BF of about 2 years in her latter college years who she caught cheating on her. She's drawn to “alphaholes” than nice guys & some have declared their love & deep interest in her but eventually ended their affair for some reason. After her last BF, she had no-strings sexual hookups with men she'd meet @ bars & clubs. She'd been celibate for about 18months since before her surrogate pregnancy. Her best friend (BFF) was infertile & really wanted to have a baby with her husband. So, she begged h to donate her eggs and be a surrogate for their baby. But a few weeks into h's surrogate pregnancy, her BFF & her soon-to-be-ex husband insisted that h get an abortion since they were now divorcing. h's BFF had caught her hubby cheating on a woman who was also now preggo with his child. Since then, h's BFF and her hubby no longer wanted h's baby.
Not sure if H ever had a serious GF. He's a known player in their small Montana town just like his 6 brothers. He had a weekly rotation of no-strings hookups with several women, many he met at their local bar & who he'd smex at his bachelor-pad apartment over his workshop. From another book, he had 3 different lovers who had alloted days of the week slots he'd hookup with. One of his hookups (OW) became obsessed with him & tried to get pregnant by him by poking holes in his condoms. He dropped her after that & became celibate since 1 year ago. He'd always used a condom (mostly 2 at a time) with all his lovers so h is the 1st one he's smexxed bareback. First time H&h smexxed was 2 days after they met @ 36% & bareback every time since he was clear about his intent to breed her with lots of babies.
Gemma Weir does it again with another super cute, fun read! I just love her over the top, jealous/possessive alphaholes and all the crazy things they do to nail their woman down - and Penn does 👏🏼not 👏🏼disappoint 👏🏼. I just loved Lulu - who she was as a person, her story, and her complete exasperation with Penn's antics as he tries to convince her that he KNOWS she's the one. And the smexy times.... whew! Definitely fired up the kindle, lol. Just loved the book, been loving the series, and I can't wait to see who get's their's next!
Claimed by the Mountain Man is the 4th book in the Montana Mountain Men series by Gemma Weir. It can be read as a complete standalone, but best enjoyed when reading the series in order ❤️ .
THE FILTHY TALKING MOUNTAIN MAN OF YOUR 📚 📚DREAMS 💗🖤 Read this and be claimed by the most sizzling OTT dominant possessive obsessive no-nonsense Alpha around...Penn. Absolutely loved this (my favourite one so far if I absolutely had to choose.) He knows how to take care of business, take care of his lady, and isn't afraid to take on responsibility. This was a memorable one; Penn and Lulu are absolute fire 🔥 ...Go for it⛏️⛏️
Now I’m say this from the start if you ever read Gemma books these men are OTT ALPHAS!!! The stuff they would do makes you question yourself lol but remember it’s all fun.. don’t take anything to serious.
I have been waiting for another Mountain man and we got one!!! This story follows Penn and Lulu.. and when they first met BANG Lulu is kissed and already being owned by Penn but she has her walls closed and does push him away and call him crazy 😂😂😂 poor girl did not know what town she walked into. The banter between the two is good. And Penn dirt mouth fuckkk meee!!!! He can say those words to me hehe. But beside that drama she learns about the brothers fall in love story. And she’s not having it. And when Penn sees she comes with a baby that man..STEP UP AND HE WAS READY!!!! I swear nothing cuter then how he was with that baby. Sometimes I wish he did tone it down with making her move in with a baby in 3 days of knowing because hello BABY!!! Also we get a amazing “how I got pregnant” story.. this makes Lulu one of my faves.. girl is strong and we love little poppy.
There was some ex ow drama like near the end of the book.. yes you remember that ex in the first book who tried to poke holes.. yeah he found out they know eachother (h godmother is crazy ex mom) h and her never gotten along and now she’s trying to claim something but Penn knows it isn’t true and this causes problems and doubt for a moment. But that doesn’t stop Penn when it comes to his girls he’s going to show and prove to them. I did wish Penn was honest with her when he found out where she was staying but he forgot to mention it.
I wonder which brother is next we got a small hint but idk if that brother is going to go after her.. he seems very naw.. which I’m sad…
Low angst, ow drama (crazy ex), no cheating, drama, secondary chars, sexy times, no virgins (H has been celibate for a year)
Recommend-maybe Cover-⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Heat level-🌶🌶🌶🌶
Slowinsta Push/pull from h Age gap 32H/23h No condom Anal play/sex Kinda dubconish Force orgasm Mentions of surrogacy Hea Epilogue
2---3 fluffy-smut ⭐’s I’m not really sure how to rate this. It could be fun if you’re in the mood for a completely OTT ridiculously OBSESSED H that goes complete caveman on the h… but I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for substance. It sort of reads like a Jordan Silver book (crude, overdramatic, alpha-caveman), but with better writing. I picked it up because someone recommended it for crazy wannabe OW drama, and Roxanne is certifiable, but she doesn’t show up until very late in the book.
The setup to this series is very similar to Aurora Rose Reynolds Until series and their “Boom”. There’re several brothers that have a love at first sight/soulmate knowing family tradition thing when they meet their one true love… like Zap. Pow. Sort of like a fated mate situation, in fact, it was so bizarre that I just pictured them all as shifters and went with it.
To give you a feel for the tone…. Lulu is new to town and walking into her first day of work when she bumps into Penn. He takes one look into her eyes and knows she’s HIS. He literally says MINE and starts dragging her down the sidewalk towards his place to screw. Lulu does push back some by cursing him out… I should’ve done a word count on how many times fuck was used… but gives in later that day, and he’s down with her baby (has a 6-month-old) being HIS also within minutes. It’s insta-love EXTREME.
Bottom Line- This is a low drama, no angst, fluffy smut read. It in not serious or realistic at all within days they’re having unprotected sex and talking adoption. He’s pushy, crude, and totally dedicated. I read it out of order and never felt lost, the secondary characters (past/future mcs) are around quite a bit, but they don’t plot block the storyline.
Nope. Skank heroine slimes around and fucks random strangers she meets in bars and clubs. This is after she dated losers, let herself be used like a dirty gym sock and then becomes embittered because she chose fucking loser men. God, I hate stupid heroines with no morals or virtue in romance.
How about a big heaping helping of GTFOH with that slimy putrid BS, served up with a side of NEVER FUCKING EVER!
But ahhhhh. Ok so first few pages in with the insta love and caveman mine, of course was going to finish book because OMG Penn just is every bad boy you want rolled into one, but would have been fine with leaving the Bennet brothers & figuring the others were just as caveman and I hate stories that repeat. Yes still has the you’re mine with no other but the FMC has some bite and a major twist! What??! It shook things all the way up and yes back on the Bennet train.
This book misled me. The book blurb makes no mention that heroine has some very important family issues the hero needs to know about. I probably would not have read the book if I had known about this plotline.
For details, see below the spoilers.
SPOIELR SPOIELR SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER s p o i l e r s..................................
The heroine has a 6 month old daughter by a man who is not the hero. I generally don't like to read books where the heroine has a kid by another man so the fact that this plotline is not mentioned in the book blurb really irritated me.
The father is her best friend's husband. They couldn't conceive and asked her to be a surrogate. The best friend and husband got a divorce due to husband cheating and getting his girlfriend pregnant. They asked heroine to get an abortion. The best friend said the baby didn't have her DNA and she didn't want the baby.
She refused as the baby is made from her eggs and friend's husband's sperm using in vitro. So the biological dad signed away all rights.
Wow.
And the heroine's godmother's daughter shows up pregnant and accuses Penn (hero) of being the dad. He says he can't be as they have not had sex in over a year. They take a paternity test and he isn't. She is arrested for trying to bribe the doctor to falsify the DNA test.
Hero and heroine get married and she is pregnant 2 months already with his kid in the epilogue. We also find out Teddy (hero's brother) met his "one woman" when he was 18 and she was 14 at his high school. He never did anything because of the age gap and she moved away.
So with all the baby drama going around, I preferred the earlier books in the Mountain Man series.
Honestly, this is Gemma’s best mountain men book to date. All of her Barnett men are the ultimate jealous possessive alphaholes, but Penn was just something else.
Penn was the first of the Barnett men that I myself said is my book boyfriend. By the time I was a few chapters in, I was already falling for Penn hard. I loved the building of the relationship between him and Lulu.
Penn discovers Lulu is the one by walking into her by accident. And it’s amusing watching Lulu give him a hard time about it. The smut scenes are always a steamy time but there was something about Penn and Lulu just was way hotter than usual. Though, I fell for Penn as soon as he met Poppy, Lulu’s daughter and invested so much of himself in learning her routine and taking care of her. That spoke volumes to me more than the other Barnett guys. He invests so much in learning about how to care for a baby and being there for Poppy as much as he is for Lulu.
There is other woman dramas, but it’s highly amusing.
Claimed by the Mountain Man was another great installment in this over-the-top and smutty series. After Lulu's world gets turned upside down she finds herself in Rockhead Point and runs into Penn Barnett. Penn immediately recognizes Lulu as his but she isn't going to roll over and show her belly. Lulu makes Penn work for it. Will two people with pasts be able to create their own happily ever after (obviously if you are a Barnett male lol)?
I loved Penn and he rivaled his brothers in terms of over-the-top. Lulu was a great character as well and I loved her sass. The only thing that bothered me a little was the angst at the end. I'm not sure it was entirely necessary.
As I have said with earlier books in this series, you can't go into it expecting real life. These stories are meant to take you on a fun and sexy adventure with obsessive and possessive alpha males and their females that bring them to their knees. I love this series and can't wait for more!
Oh my this book is 🔥🥵🔥🥵🔥 This might just be my favorite mountain man book by Gemma Weir yet! I just loved that Penn was a little darker than his brothers. He didn’t take no for an answer and was so deliciously OTT and jealous/possessive! I usually don’t like OW drama in books unless it’s done right and Ms. Weir did it right! Not for a second did the reader doubt Penn’s devotion to Lulu. Oh and Penn with Poppy was just adorable! I loved the amount of baby fever in the book. This book is going in my reread pile for sure!
Penn was not what I thought he was going to be!! I love Gemma Weir’s possessive Hero’s! She KNOWS what I like. I didn’t think they could get anymore OTT than they already are, but Penn lifted that bar to a whole new level!! If memory serves, Penn is the first dominant we’ve seen in the Mountain Man world and I loved that shit!
Penn is ready for his woman, and when they meet he states what is perfectly obvious to him; Lulu is his, and he’ll never let her go.
This one was different from the rest not only with Penn’s dominant sexiness, but in Lulu’s completely understandable hesitance to be with Penn. This is the first time a Barnett has had such trouble in obtaining his woman- Cora’s resistance excluded. If it were any other man, Lulu wouldn’t have ended up with her happily ever after as quickly.
But who can resist a beautiful, big man that is absolutely convinced you’re the reason for living, and is all too happy to remind you who you belong to... and who you’ll obey.

Wide disclaimer for this series because I'm posting reviews on books 1-5: these are over the top alphas. Like, minor stalking... kidnapping... not taking "no thank you I'm not interested" for an answer. Major breeding. Messing with birth control. Read it like you read a dark psycho romance - knowing this isn't an endorsement for the behavior in real life.
I am so mad at Daniel (my husband - if you follow me on Instagram @virgoreader you know him well). He loves reality TV, specifically early 2000's reality TV, and lately he's been watching I Love Money, which was on VH1. There's a guy named Tailor Made who was originally on I Love New York and TELL ME WHY his face popped up for Penn. I am in hell.
This book followed the format of all the others, with a lovely little surprise (wink).
I'm not huge on breeding romances. Like the concept can be hot but ACTUALLY making a baby? Ew. (No offense.)
CW: stalking, kidnapping, dubcon, other woman drama. Tread carefully if you are sensitive about anything domestic violence related - there is none in this book (he worships her) BUT the behaviors that all the brothers exhibit are very similar with abusive, obsessed men who stalk women
Dominate H/steamroller/ sweet h/ small town/ OTT possesive H
Don’t have time for a full review but… this story follows along with the rest in this series… -OTT Posessive H who steam rolls his way in her life -Instalove (the Barnett’s always are) and the h comes around pretty quick -Penn is ready for his one after watching his brothers fall, so when he jumps into her,he just is ready to take her from that second and honestly she’s confused bc he’s barely explaining why he’s being a maniac lol. We get her POV on this part and she’s like wtf is wrong with this guy lol -Single momma, with the cutest baby girl- and I love that Penn is all in from Jump (as the Barnett boys usually are) -We see glimpses of the rest of the crew and updates like Cora and Huck’s baby boy is born, Bonnie and Beau, Alice and granger.. and a little story about teddy which makes me feel his story maybe next. -Steamy -Penn is more dominate in a dark way than the others, he’s full of throat grabs and growls and dominance and it was DELICIOUS!! I kinda wish he spanked her more but that’s me… lol -small ow drama but it’s just talk and we know these boys are devoted to their women so you know it’s nothing. Just her trying to start stuff and he’s like shut up ho3… basically. -Pregancy/breeding scenes- basically birth control is not happening. She has a freak out and he’s like yeah… ok not using a condoms bc I’m tryna knock you up like every chance and I was loving it. I LOVEEEE that lol. -HEA
I thought adding in the fact that LuLu already had a kid into the equation made the fourth book in this series fresh and interesting. I loved the way that Penn claimed the baby as well.
A couple gripes with this series that always keeps me from giving them five stars.
You meet these brothers, you know them as side characters, then when it’s their turn to have a book and their personality completely changes and enters generic Barnet territory.
When the guys do something that their women should legitimately be upset about they usually feel upset and concerned in their internal dialogue then they have a complete 180 when they speak to their women and show zero remorse and just steamroll over them. Now that it’s book four it’s getting annoying.
I enjoyed this one! I'm a sucker for ott, caveman Neanderthal acting Hs and Penn did not disappoint 😂 it was nice to see the other brothers and how their lives are evolving in this book too.
Gemma weir is almost guaranteed to be a no condom zone author and I appreciate it 😂😂😂Constantly trying to get lulu pregnant and I was all for it 🤷😈
This is Penn Barnett's book. He's the second to youngest brother and ready to find his woman. Three of his older brothers have fallen for the women of their dreams and, rather than shying away from wanting to settle down, Penn wants what his brothers have. And he finds it when Lulu Sullivan bumps into him on the sidewalk, having just moved to Rockhead Point, Montana and hurrying to her new job.
Penn falls for Lulu from the moment they meet and is bound and determined to claim her for himself. Literally, From. The. First. Moment. He grabs her hand and, in full caveman fashion, is determined to take her home with him. 🥵🥵🥵
Lulu, on the other hand, thinks he's a crazy man. A tall, gorgeous, sexy man, but a crazy man, nevertheless. She tries to get away from him, but Penn is having none of that. Lulu is HIS whether she wants to accept it or not and that's all there is to it.
Lulu has a complicated past and is slow to trust. Penn gradually breaks through the walls she has put up, but she is still leery about being in a relationship with him. However, when a Barnett brother has found his woman, there is no stopping him from getting what he wants. I repeat... No. Stopping. Him. From. Getting. What. He. Wants. And Penn wants Lulu... in his bed, living with him, and in his life. Now and forever. She is HIS and Barnett men ALWAYS get what they want!
This book was fantastic! Yes, Penn is an OTT, domineering, assertive, extremely jealous/possessive, controlling alpha male. Yes, he acts like an alphahole at times. But he wants Lulu and rather than taking the slow and patient, sweet approach, he takes the waste-no-time, you're-moving-in-with-me-now-because-I-said-so approach.
While some people might be put off by Penn's character, if you've read Gemma's books, then you know that this is how her mountain men are. They are big, brawny, well endowed, hot, rugged, growly, mine-mine-mine! cavemen. And I love them! 🥰🥰🥰
There is plenty of hot smex in the book and lots of yummy throat grabbing with Penn frequently putting his hand around Lulu's throat possessively when kissing her...or doing.. other things...😈 And he is fully on board with breeding her, wanting to get Lulu pregnant almost immediately and not using any protection...ever.
There is some other woman drama towards the end of the book, but this Barnett boy is playing for keeps and nothing or no one is keeping him from being with Lulu.
All in all, a very satisfying read. If you like insta-love with hot smex and an OTT jealous/possessive, controlling man who cooks for and takes care of his woman, then you'll want to read this book! Can't wait for the next Barnett brother's book! These mountain men are easy to fall for! ❤❤❤

When will authors get tired of writing about these ran thru, passed around, nasty men🤢because I’m sure tired of reading about them. I so dearly loved hearing, multiple times, about all the “warm, wet, willing holes” that he fucked before meeting the h! 🥰🥰🥰so romantic in my romance books🥰🥰🥰🥰 Also the h was so impowering, drinking while she knew she was most likely pregnant! So empowering! Stick it to the man!!
“Should you be drinking if you think you’re pregnant?” Bran asks, his voice full of concern. “You leave her alone, she deserves that drink and even if she is pregnant, it’s too early to even show on a test yet,” Nina scolds him.
oh... this one wasn’t my favorite but still so good! i loved Penn. he is probably the best, most responsible of the Barnett brothers because of how caring he was of Lulu’s child. he claimed Poppy as his own right away and didn’t care that the love of his life has a child. he loved that baby with everything in him. Penn continuously learned how to take care of the baby and was all in which is something so important and special about this book. i thought the way Poppy was conceived was so weird ? Lulu was a surrogate for her best friend & her husband. when Lulu’s bff got a divorce from her cheating husband, they both abandoned Lulu even as she was pregnant. ummm.... what the fck?? lmfao this was so funny and so random. i’m sorry because how dumb does a person have to be to be a surrogate for her best friend but not have any legal paperwork prepared? idc if she’s ur best friend and you trust her, that’s just so naive. needless to say, that is what lowered the star rating. like i loved the book but this was just so random. i also do like Lulu because she was a great mom but just not smart about this one decision. the spice is every single Gemma Weir book is always top notch though. so spicy, and so. much. spice!

Oh. My. Goodness. What did I just read? This is by far one of the hottest books I’ve ever read. I swear some of the scenes in this book made me ovulate instantly. Penn is the best. I thought shuck was my favorite, but no, I was completely and utterly wrong. Penn wins the best brother award hands down. Combine Penn with a feisty, driven, independent, smart curvy woman and a baby? Absolutely the best. It’s like the author crawled into my mind and wrote a dream guy with the best romance and troupes ever. Now for the usual warnings. Penn is over the top, caveman, alpha, possessive and jealous. This is a fantasy book and no one takes this as something to aspire to in real life. So please don’t read this book if that type of behavior is going to make you clutch your pearls and complain. Now, when is the next book being released? The wait may kill me.
Overall Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5 Couple: Penn & Lulu Hero: ♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎/5 Heroine: ♥︎♥︎♥︎♥︎/5 Storyline: ✰✰✰✰.5/5 Spice: 🌶🌶🌶/5 Emotion Lvl: 😥.5/5 Humor Lvl: 😆😆/5 POV: Dual (H & h) Series: Montana Mountain Men #4 ******* Another home run! I can't get enough of the Barnett brothers. Penn is a new favorite, I put him right next to Beau. Penn definitely has a more dominant personality which I tend to fall for. Yes, he is OTT/JP and dominant in bed but wow he is such a sweetheart. The way he falls for Lulu and embraces Poppy is beautiful. I really like Lulu, She is brave, smart, and a curvy girl who has just enough backbone to try and stand up to Penn. Lets face it we all know the girls never win. The story was enjoyable from beginning to end. There was plenty that went down in this book and I love seeing the previous couples and continued storyline.
Another instalment in the over-the-top, smutty, deliciously addictive and dramatic Mountain Man series! Another Barnett brother bites the dust (there are so few of them left for me to choose from now, I’d better get myself to Rockhead Point ASAP to snap one up before it’s too late!).
Unfortunately, I think I enjoyed Penn and LuLu’s story the least so far. I still enjoyed it, I’m just not a huge fan of this sort of storyline, with children involved (as awful as that sounds, it’s just not my cup of tea, unless it’s to cement their happily ever after, or whatever).
Aside from that… Penn is just as smoking hot, possessive, protective and obsessively in love with his woman as the rest of his brothers, and I can’t seem to get enough!
"Claimed by the Mountain Man" is the story of Lulu and Penn.
Another Barnett man bites the dust when he meets his soulmate in a fierce lawyer. I mean, as expected he takes over her life and she is unable to fight him, even when he discovers the secret she's hiding. They face a lot of drama with his ex and misunderstandings, but it ends in a HEA.
idk if it’s bc im ovulating but smth about reading about an over the top 6’4” 200 pound hunk of muscles claiming his woman physically, protectively, passionately, sexually, and well basically all of the possible “u/ally” ways under the sun i can think of just scratches all of the right itches for me🧎♀️➡️
Book 4 brings us the story of Penn & Lulu, with Penn falling into instalove, just like his 3 brothers did, the minute he sets eyes on Lulu. He's over the top possessive, jealous and 110% in love with Lulu, whether she likes it or not, and will do anything to prove it to her, including showing her how much her body wants him even if her mind hasn't caught up yet.
My only dislike about this book was how little Penn pushed the fact that he was totally hers, just as much as she was totally his. Like, he told her over and over and over that she was his but only said that he was completely hers two, maybe three times throughout the book. I think if he had stressed this point more and maybe even showed her it, she wouldn't have fought back near as hard.
Lulu isn't a shrinking violet and has no problems sticking up for herself, even to a guy who swears that she is his the second he lays eyes on her. She's got a potty mouth on her and says things that I feel like I could be saying myself if found in a similar situation. I think having the other Barnett girls to lean on really helped her come to terms with her newfound relationship. And the sexy times sure didn't hurt either!
In real life, I'm sure people would be screaming red flag! red flag! red flag! but for us in Romancelandia, we love a good OTT jealous/possessive alphahole and Penn is that and then some. The sexy times are steaming hot and the stories are engaging with relatable characters that you look forward to seeing in other books in the series while getting to meet each new couple. I seriously can't wait to see how the rest of the bothers fall!
*just about 4 stars* I'm not really sure how to rate this book and the feel of it. I knew what I was getting myself into 'cuz I've been enjoying this series, even if the leading men were overbearing and totally mancave behaving but at times I really didn't like Penn which was a bit off a turn-off for me. It was just his behaviour that didn't always do it for me although the author really tried to redeem him in the story, trying to show his softer side which made me like him a bit more. I just wished I had some more moments of that but then again I adored Lulu. She was the true star in my opinion; a sassy woman with her heart on her sleeve. I'd still recommend it 'cuz you never know whether you like it.
Lulu has come to live in the small town Montana, trying to make a new life but when she bumps into Penn, her world is turned upside down. She soon gets to know who he is and tries to run the other direction but he will have none of it and persues her. Penn has watched his brothers find true love and is ready to find that for himself and when he meets Lulu, he instantly knows she's the one he's been waiting for. He tries to do whatever he can to make her see how good they could be together but it isn't really going as planned. But he doesn't give up and soon Lulu's walls are slowly coming down. Will they find love together?...
OMG! If you love insta-love with a possessive, bossy, dirty-talking alpha this is the book for you. When I say instant......I mean INSTANT right from the start.
Claimed by the Mountain Man is Book 4 in the Montana Mountain Man series but can be read as a standalone. This was the first book in the series I read. I didn't feel like I missed anything. I will add that I loved the book so much that I will be reading the previous 3 books to enjoy more of the Barnett brothers. I can't wait to read about the remaining brothers finding their "women".
Penn is one of seven brothers destined to immediately find the love of their life at first sight. That's exactly what happens when Lulu bumps into Penn. Penn not only falls instantly in love with Lulu but embraces everything about her. The largest part of Lulu was an unexpected piece of this story that I adored even more. I love these bundles of joy.
Penn is jealous, possessive, unreasonable, and controlling. His nickname for Lulu, Kitten, perfectly wraps up Lulu. Like a kitten, she resists Penn with her claws out. But boy did Penn's dominance make her purr.
If you love reading about OTT dominant, possessive men who take control but also have a loving and devoted side you will love Penn. If dominance isn't your thing beware.
It seems that every time I finish a story in this series, I am completely convinced that the latest Barnett brother is my favorite. Add Penn to this list! He definitely deserves the top spot!!
This author is unapologetic about these men, (I completely love her for this) and her ability to create a world where these guys live and love so fiercely is wonderful. Her statement at the very beginning is entirely true: letting go and embracing their Alpha-hole behavior is amazing. Thankfully Penn and his brothers only live in these pages, because the over-the-top possessive behavior does not belong in real life.
This author consistently provides engaging and entertaining books that are super steamy and a wonderful escape from the "real world ". The pages turn themselves, and I was at the happy ever after too soon for my liking. I sincerely suggest reading her other series as well as this one. I have, and I recommend her work.
