Black Soul

Rate this book
As one of the most feared defense attorneys in Baltimore City, Kenneth Black is always in control. He dominates not only inside the courtroom, but outside of it too where he trains females for an exclusive club named ‘Collars.’ On a night out with his friends, he’s given a challenge he can’t refuse, but what happens when the man who’s used to training submissives, suddenly becomes one himself?

Savannah Smith has always been different. Aside from the fact that she’s a self proclaimed plant parent with a black thumb, she also has a rare gift allowing her to see human auras. On a night out with her sisters, she meets a man who represents everything she hates, but what happens when the woman who thinks she’s powerless, has more control than she realizes?

Will sparks end up flying between this unlikely couple, or are the two of them on a collision course destined for a fatal ending? One-Click now and find out what happens when a free spirit collides with a black soul.
This book contains material that may be offensive to some readers. The relationship depicted between these characters is a work of fiction, and is not representative of the BDSM community as a whole.

****Excerpt****

“That's a spanking bench,” Black said, walking up beside me as I ran my fingertips over the material. “Wanna try it out? I’m sure I can think of something you deserve to be spanked for.”
“What the hell, Black?” I whisper yelled, whirling around to face him before slapping his shoulder. “Don’t you think this is something you should have brought up by now?”
“And when should I have brought it up?” He asked amusedly.
“Oh, I don’t know. Maybe something like ‘Hi, my name is Kenneth, and I like a little torture with my sex.’ That would have sufficed just fine.” I spat, more than a little flustered because of all the unfamiliar equipment.
“Tell me something, Savannah.” He spun me around so fast I didn’t have time to move away before he placed me in front of him, wrapping his arms around my middle. “Are you upset because I didn’t tell you I’m a Dom? Or are you upset because now that you know I am one, you still want to fuck me?”
He said all of this while planting open-mouth kisses on my shoulder, and damnit, it felt so good I leaned my head to the side, giving him better access.
“Answer me, or I’ll stop,” He ordered, doing just that to prove his point.
“Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Because you weren’t ready yet.” He admitted. “People usually fall on opposite sides of the spectrum; they’re ready and willing to enter this lifestyle, or they rebel against it because they fear the unknown. Or, more accurately, they fear what they know can bring them pleasure but’s considered taboo. I figured you’d fall in the latter category.”
“That kinda feels like a thinly veiled insult.”
“Insult or not, it’s the truth. All women are submissive, Savannah. They just need someone to show them that submission isn’t a bad thing like they’ve been led to believe.”
“And that person is you?”
“If they want it to be, then yes. But you, my dear, don’t have a choice in the matter,” He declared, unclasping my bra letting it fall to the ground.
“Why is that?”
Grabbing my double D breasts in his hands, he leaned close to my ear and whispered, “Because I want you.”

Savannah x Black

I have no idea how I found this book or the author, but I’m glad I did because I loved it. The book had everything. Kenneth Black was the asshole you hate to love. He was arrogant and sexy with a foul mouth and so bossy and dominant. But, he met his match in Savannah. I loved her soo much. She was thick, curvy, and a sweetheart. She was also a lot quirky and very confident, but deep deep down, it was evident there were some underlying insecurities. Insecurities she masked extremely well. After meeting Kenneth for the first time, she immediately took a dislike to him. They were like oil and water. They just didn’t mix. Savannah’s strong, independent, and stubborn personality made it hard for Kenneth to be the dominant boss that he was.

Watching Savannah and Kenneth’s hate relationship turned into love was such a treat. He became a completely different man. If you hated him in the beginning, you couldn’t help but love him and root for him and Savannah. Kenneth’s daughter Kennedy stole every scene she was in.

One thing I will say is that I wished the author was a bit more descriptive of Savannah. I feel like I only knew she was a BBW only because the author told me she was.
This was a really fun read. Get into it.

4.5 ⭐️ A good "he falls first" story never fails to entertain me. Kenneth (Black) was an arrogant jackass who felt he was the shit just because he was a lawyer. Kenneth is out here wagering that he can train Savannah, and I'm not talking about working out. He lived a certain lifestyle. In Savannah, he finally faced his equal. A desire for control and dominance drove him to this. Savannah was strong, stubborn, and kind. Her friendship with Kennedy was one of my favorites. It was very enjoyable to see the hatred between Savannah and Kenneth transform into love. He changed into a new person altogether. He improved as a person thanks to his time with Savannah. The case's development confirmed what I had believed all along: that cooperating with criminals puts you and your loved ones in harm's way. I wish we had discussed Kennedy's gift in more depth. The tension about Ed was good for most of the book, but I felt like it was rushed at the end. It's possible that I'm being greedy, but I would have liked a few more chapters to read once the situation had been resolved.

You can never go wrong when you bet on Black! Or in this case when you bet on Savannah! 🎰 🖤🥰

I LOOOOVED this story!!!!! Ugh from beginning to end I was STUCK! Black and Savannah captured my full attention from the very beginning and I am sooooo happy I finally read their story! Thanks Dahyana for giving me the push I needed 😉❤️!

BBW beauty Savannah was enjoying her best Hooters life one evening with her sisters when unbeknownst to her, a group of men were at a nearby table placing a bet on her! Kenneth was a trainer in the BDSM world and his friend thought it would be fun to place a friendly wager on who he perceived to be the most difficult in the group of women across the restaurant to tame. As a criminal defense attorney and alpha male through and through, Kenneth was never one to back down from a friendly wager however he had no clue that he was gearing up for his most challenging sub yet!

Savannah was gifted if you will so her talent for reading your aura was pretty much dead on. She was able to know the type of person you were before you even opened your mouth and she pegged Kenneth’s soul/aura as Black and this was before she even knew his last name. Everything about Black coupled with her intuition was telling her to stay far far away from this man but the magnetic pull his energy had on her made this difficult.

I loved the chemistry between Black and Savannah because they both had dominant personalities and while Black was overall successful with asserting dominance, Savannah made it clear that you better talk nice to her or that’s your ass! If you’re tying her to the spanking bench the least you can do is say please 🤣🤣🤣…. The tug of war games these two played made for an amazing story and when you add into it the drama and suspense, you couldn’t help but eat this book with not a single crumb left! I enjoyed little miss Kennedy as well as the other supporting characters. I wouldn’t have been the least bit upset with more from Kobe and Abigail!

Do yourselves a favor and make this one a priority! You will not be disappointed!

Kenneth & Savannah

Initially, when the story began I really thought there was no hope for Black Kenneth) he was rude and calculating. I thought Savannah was too good for him. But, what I love about this enemies to lovers story is that the two of them equally contributed to their relationship and was able to introduce each other to new things. The story has some great similarities and twist in it. This is my first time reading a story from this author and I really enjoyed it.

A boys' night out.

Oh, this book had me feeling some kind of way towards Kenneth. He was a certified jerk for the majority of the book until he had a few reality checks. One is his so-called friend Eddie who is a devil in disguise. And the other was Savannah not being the submissive he thought she would be. Savannah was the total opposite she often taught him how to use manners when addressing her. She loved Kennedy from the moment she laid eyes on her. She treated Kennedy like her own child and I was here for it. Savannah was the woman he needed in his life because she changed him into an outstanding citizen. She inadvertently opened his eyes up about Eddie. She wanted justice for Jamal and Kenneth taking that case started a chain reaction. The chain reaction led to more control on Kenneth's part but in the form of protection for Savannah and Kennedy. Kenneth learning all of what Eddie was doing to low-income clients was the pivot not only in his career but in his personal life as well. He was already deeply in love with Savannah but once he learned of Eddie's motive he fell head over hill for her. He tried to hide his feelings under his arrogance but they shone brightly through his actions. Kenneth was swooned by the lady who could see auras. He was affectionately in love and made sure everyone knew including Savannah's step-sister Ashley. A boys' night out turned into a forever relationship with the love of his life.

This book is well-written because I honestly thought at one point that Kobe and Savannah were a better match. The plot twists and how Kenneth and Savannah came about were well executed. This is my first read by this author so I may be checking out more of the catalog in the near future.

5 ⭐️ Mr. Kenneth Black, my goodness!!! He was definitely an a-hole at first, but what a man he turned out to be!!! Kenneth “Black” & Savannah “Ivy” had the most volcanic, hot & spicy relationship I’ve read to date! It was explosive 🧨 & then was romantic! The way that Savannah despised him & then grew to love him was all around entertaining to say the least!

I really love Savannah! Her character was written so well! Her relationship with Kennedy was heart warming! I will say that I would have had to lay hands on Ashley, she was the worst! I liked both of her sisters from her dads side until the Eddie situation!

There wasn’t one single thing I didn’t love about this book, except the fact that I wish there was like a sequel or something! Very well done Manny, V 👏🏾👏🏾👌🏾!!!

Ahhh I have been reading nothing but curvy girl romance lately and none of them hit quite like this one!! This was perfect! I love how strong Savannah is. It’s just something about a “he falls first” book that does it for me! The writing style was good and so was the pacing. TW: dub-con (lite), D/s dynamic.

The audacity to love

This is a new to me author and I enjoyed the story.

Kenneth was the GQ type...tall, dark, handsome with a side of rudeness, arrogance, and audacity. He was truly a piece of work and I didn't think I was going to like him. Savannah was a curvy, eclectic, carefree beauty... inside and out with a side of sweetness and care for others. These two were total opposites and were basically at war from the moment they met. Kenneth however went all in to change her opinion of him, but after getting to know Savannah it was she that changed his opinion of her. The care she showed him and his daughter Kennedy was unmatched. On top of that their chemistry was off the chain. For someone not to be his type he couldn't get enough of her. He wanted to be with her and ....in her all of the time. Savannah's good heart rubbed off on Kenneth and by the end of the story I was happy for them.

I left out so much but there was family drama, fake friends, death, bribery...I mean there was so much wrapped into this love story and it kept my attention. I would definitely read more books from this author.

Talk about a tug of war!!!!!

Loved watching "DOM", Kenneth Black trying to get "SUB", Savannah to do his BDSM bidding without building any type of relationship with her. I laughed so hard when she let him know that she was "not the one" to be ordered around like that!!! lol!!!!

But what was really shocking was all that came with the unfair battle Kenneth had to wage with the corrupt legal system. Lots of shocking surprises woven all through this story!

Black Soul

Savannah was my girl from the start. She was confident, honest and caring and her relationship with Kennedy was just too sweet. Kenneth was an a** but him and Savannah together was addicting and fascinating. They just worked and I was hooked. This gave what it needed plus a little mystery, suspense and drama.

Not For Me (contains spoilers)

Let me first say, this book is well written. The pace was nice. But what I didn’t like about the book, I really did not like. The dislikes are as follows:

*Why are curvy women the butt of every joke/bet? Out of all the women present, they chose the big girl to bet on. I don’t like that.
*For Curvy Girl to be in the title, I would have thought that this would be an empowering book for plus sized girls. It’s teetering on the edge of fatphobic. When Black said, “you’re pretty for a big girl” or something like that, I was like IMMEDIATELY NO.
*All the adult/sexual comments and activities made around his 5 year old daughter. (When he chokes Savannah out of nowhere in front of his daughter). Again, IMMEDIATELY NO. 🚩 🚩🚩
*Black was rude and demanding
*if you don’t understand the concept of gaslighting, pay attention to what Black says when Savannah comes out of her coma. (I quit my job because of you. I sold my house because of you. SIR, she’s in a coma because of you! She died because of you. She was in a coma because of you. All of that was 100% AVOIDABLE had her acted like grown man and not placed a bet.)
UGHHHHH

This book wasn’t for me. BUT it’s well written. The concepts/scenarios/comments are misguided.

This was good. The characters were good. Everyone played their role. Kenneth Black was dominant, authoritative, alpha, possessive, etc. He had this set way of wanting his woman to look and be healthy. But that all changed when he met his match with Savannah Smith. She has a gift of seeing people's aura. Which I found intriguing. She was free-spirited, loved plants, stubborn, didn't like to be bossed around, and loves children, and BBW. It all started with a bet. Then things progressed. Can you guess how things ended? Wonder what kind of juicy story can bring about between A Criminal Attorney who loves BDSM and is a Dom who trains Subs and a Teacher at a daycare? And the bantering in this is everything. I must say, I recommend this book.

Loved it

This was a perusing through the catalog find. I must say I'm glad I found this story. Th is my first read by this author. I really can't understand America's fixation with being skinny. I understand being healthy but calling women fat, chubby or something other than their name because they've not skinny is preplexing. Black was crude at times bug his love was genuine. Great story!

Seriously good read! Loved it! 👍🏽

Ok, first this is my first time reading this author’s work and let me tell you, it was everything! Kenneth and Savannah dislike each other from the first time they meet. It’s the type of instant, uncomfortable dislike that sometimes happens. Savannah is a free spirit and Kenneth is pretty much an asshole. What starts as a bet turns into so much more. I don’t want to give too much away, so I’ll just say, I loved, LOVED this story!

Overly surprised!

This was a great read. The storyline was better than I expected and the writing was done well. This book took twists and turns I didn't expect at all. Don't do yourself a disservice, READ THIS BOOK !!

How.did we get from here “I don’t have to like you to fuck you, Savannah. It’s usually better that way.” to here She’s my solace, my peace, and I’ll move heaven and earth to make sure I never have to leave. It's a wild journey!!

3.65 Good

I did enjoy the read ...
The pace was good...I did not like Black until about the last 20% and the end was a bit rushed (to me). I did like the bond between the twin sister and Ken Ken with Savanah. Ashley and her dad I didn't care for...moments in the book I wanted to skip but I would read this author again and I did enjoy the story.

Good Book

I couldn't stand Black at first. He was an arrogant, overconfident, rude man, but I was so pleased with his growth at the end. He turned out to be one of the good guys. I really like the whole aura color angle. I'm not into BSDM but it worked for this story. This book had a little bit of everything-drama, surprises, love, and intimacy.

What’s Not to Love?

This was my first Manny V novel, but definitely not my last. There was the enemies-to-lovers trope, but with a social justice sub-plot, and Black characters to enjoy. Couldn’t out it down!

Black!!!

I loved this book. The storyline was good and not corny or overly predictable. The drama was drama-ing. The 2 epilogues were a perfect way to wrap the story up. This was my first time reading this author but I'd definitely read more after this.
