Trauma, addiction, and recovery. Aged 15, Matthew was hit by a car travelling at high speed. Although physically he made a full recovery, his mental health was never the same again.
Experimenting with drugs and alcohol started off as an escape from everyday life, but it soon turned into an addiction that completely took over his already fragile mind. It turned him into a thief and a liar, and it caused his mental health to reach breaking point over and over again.
Whenever he managed to climb back to his feet, he announced a ‘fresh start’, but his demons always had other ideas and knocked him down again. This is the inspirational memoir of an ordinary young man’s struggles and how he finally found a way out, showing that recovery is possible.
No holds barred account of an addict and his recovery. Couldn't put it down. I follow Matt on FB and wanted to support him and find out more. I was hooked and his story made me cry in places. I've hear many stories of addicts but this book got to me more than others. I can't even say why. Highly recommend reading.
Congratulations matt not only on recovery but all you've achieved with endless possibilities too. What a gripping book - another reader who couldn't put the book down!
Matthew, thank you for baring all, I am a parent who struggles to understand addiction in my son's life. It started when he was 15 he's now 32. It really is so hard for a parent x
What a remarkable book have really enjoyed reading this book have learnt a lot about addiction and how it can mess your life but how you can if you want to turn it around and start again a truly inspirational book
This book is so so good - such a refreshing, honest and open story. The account of what Matt has been through is just incredible and he tells it with no self-pity or victim playing.
Matt should stand proud every day - not just for the book but for ditching his old journey and for continuing to carve his own path for his current and future journey.
i came across Matts Endless Possibilities page on a local FB page. i read a few of his posts and started to follow him. his book is un-put-downable and i thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish. it's a fascinating insight to the difficulties he has faced. i highly recommend this book. i learned such a lot from reading it. Amazing man.
Such an honest and open account of your life and addiction. You seemed like a cat with 9 lives, so many times at the very bottom. You pulled yourself out finally, and turned your life around, you should be very proud of what you have achieved and I hope you continue to achieve even more in the future. This book shows that addiction can happen to the best of people
As a fellow UKAT rehab recovery resident Matt’s story resonates with me. My story was alcohol but my feelings on rehab and recovery are almost exactly the same as Matt’s. Be true to yourself and you will recover. Thanks Matt for a great read. It works if you work it so work it your worth it.
I have followed Matt on Facebook for over a year now and was really looking forward to this coming out as an audiobook. Openly and honestly written and engagingly narrated, this book is a true story of the most human of struggles; that of conquering our own self-destruction. Matt’s story of triumph over addiction is written with humility, searing honesty and not a shred of self pity can be detected. It both inspires and challenges the reader to see through the myth that addicts are a ‘certain type of person’. I hope it brings comfort and hope to those who live with addiction and educates those who don’t understand addiction. Hoping Matt writes about the next part of his journey and keeps inspiring others!
