Taken from their planet and their century, they are…the Lost Soldiers.

Stranded on the primitive planet R’Bak in the 55 Tauri B system, the Lost Soldiers have carried out an audacious mission: the theft of a Kulsian lighter cargo spaceship. They are now past the point of no return; they’ve got to use the orbital cargo hauler quickly if they are to have any chance of carrying out Colonel Rodger Murphy’s plan to capture a Kulsian corvette. In order to do that, though, they need to get an assault force onboard the lighter before it gets to the second planet.

There’s only one problem—the Lost Soldiers don’t have a qualified pilot to fly them there.

They do have Major Kevin Bowden, though, who rehabilitated his flying career by leading a crucial and successful attack on R’Bak’s intersystem transmitter months before. In doing so, he demonstrated his skill at flying a SpinDog interface craft…but he has no experience flying genuine spacecraft or navigating between places in the deep black of outer space.

Can Murphy get Bowden the training he needs to successfully pilot a ship and rendezvous with the lighter before it is recaptured by the Kulsians? Things don’t look promising when he wrecks the first spacecraft he’s given, and, with time running out, he’ll have to use all of his previous training and experience to get better fast. Because if he can’t, the soldiers known as Murphy’s Lawless won’t be able to complete Murphy’s plan, and they will lose everything they’ve accomplished…and their lives, as well.

In a quite logical sequence, once you have infiltrated, you begin to insert your troops...
And so, in a follow-up to Griffin Barber's infiltration, Chris Kennedy brings the much needed troops closer to the action in a very, very entertaining tale.
Reading Insertion, one could think that Chris Kennedy spent a couple of hours in a cockpit... And his naval aviator past serves him well in this novella, particularly in his ability to make the difference between flying in atmosphere and flying in the void palpable to the reader.
The story is great, you have lots of training before it goes live, interesting characters, a twist or two... All in all, a ripping good yarn! Can't wait for assault to get the last part of this tale!

Air to Space Pilot Journey

Interesting on how driving a space craft is different than piloting and aircraft. Great action story with lots of realistic background.

Another cliffhanger! Wish they would just wait and publish all the parts together. But I guess they wouldn’t make as much money. I still find this an interesting universe.
