The Intelligent Soccer Coach provides detailed insight into the concept behind soccer and what players need to be able to perform with confidence, while also being able to solve the varying problems they will encounter in each game. With this book, coaches are given the necessary knowledge to plan and deliver player-centered practices that are both relevant and realistic to the game. These practices will provide players with an enjoyable and challenging environment that will in turn encourage them to be creative, independent decision-makers.
I got this book on a whim, based on recommendations from coaches I follow on Twitter. If you're in the school of player centered development, this is a great read. A lot of topics discussed in this book I have seen in various coaching license classes. I'm glad I took the time to read it and add it to my library.
This book was a gift, otherwise I don’t think I would have picked it up for myself. I think this would be a good starting book for an inexperienced coach. It covers some basics that are the foundation of entry level coaching courses. I would recommend this book for some one who is wanting to beginning coaching soccer at the younger age groups.
