TEASER:

Owen spoke in the darkness. “My word, my promises, mean everything to me. But you don’t know that. Yet. But I’m telling you so you understand. I can protect you.”

He cleared the lump in his throat. “While I was at war, my sister was abducted and murdered. I would never hurt an innocent person.”

“What about a person who wasn’t innocent?” Keira whispered.

This was my first by the author but was a romantic suspense it keep you on edge wondering what was going to happen. The story begins with Owen picking up what he assumes is a young boy on the side of the rode walking in the pouring rain and it’s freezing outside. Owen can’t just ignore someone in need of help he can provide.
*
If you like romantic suspense and plenty of steam then this is the book for you! Bernadette Jones does a wonderful job of creating a story that ebbs and flows giving us a wonderful tale.
*
Owen Strong is an alpha male at his finest the dark brooding male with the dark past he cares about his friends and his family and will protect them no matter what cost to himself.
*
Keira Hoa comes into town and throws everything out of whack for Owen. She has monsters coming for her and they are catching up to her minute by minute. She’s determined to slay them herself it’s her demons to confront even if Owen would take them out himself to keep her safe.
*
However when someone avoids answering questions and won’t open up can you truly help them if they don’t want it? This is the situation Owen is in with Keira she’s shields herself won’t answer questions she deflects but it’s her defense the less anyone knows the safer they are from her. You can’t speak about what you don’t know...
*
Overall, I enjoyed the book it was fast paced and kept you on edge. It does have plenty of steam, hot alpha, heroine learning to be strong on her own. It’s enjoyable and definitely worth a read.

Lonely Eyes brings us all the elements I love in a great book. Exciting action, great romance, and a cast of characters that feel like friends. Keira is on the run, but nobody is sure of what she is running from. She's a little bit of a thing and she brings out a fierce protectiveness as well as a healthy dose of distrust from Owen. Since Owen picked her up hitchhiking, he feels responsible to look out for her and make sure she is not going to bring harm to his family that he has built in Aspen, Colorado.

I don't want to give away any spoilers so I won't share as much of the plot as I normally would. It is the manner that Bernadette Jones writes her characters that always captures me. The are so rich and have so much depth that I feel as if I personally know them. I want to pick up the phone and check in on them. Over the course of the story, I come to love them and want to help care for and protect them.

This story is a real page turner and I stayed up way too late trying to read just one more chapter before bed. A perfect addition to the Aspen Gold Series and it stands alone, but go back and read the previous books to see what you have been missing.

Keira's protective instincts drive her actions in this tale about families of all kinds. Her growth throughout her ordeal shows integrity and an admirable ability to overcome the past. I appreciated the originality of the plot and how the author had a fresh take with an unusual crime. Ms. Jones pens a fast-paced story with characters we care about and root for. Don't miss this one.

I was caught up in this engrossing tale of suspense set in the fictional town of Spencer, Colorado. Owen and Keira are two lonely, vulnerable people fated to meet and drawn to each other. Owen cherishes his new-found family and attempts to reconcile his tragic past. Keira comes to town looking for the Vietnam veteran who is the missing link to her beloved grandmother's former life.

If you like your romance with a lot of suspense and a hefty dose of steam, then Lonely Eyes—or really anything by Bernadette Jones—is for you. Jones hits the sweet spot with Lonely Eyes—Owen Strong is a swoon-worthy hero with a dark past that will protect his found family no matter the cost. When artist Keira Hoa stumbles into his life with her own monsters on her tail, Owen desperately wants to slay them. But how can he trust a woman who won’t give him answers? And how can he decide if her monsters are worth endangering the life and the people he loves in Spencer CO?

Jones has an uncanny knack for painting her scenes with an urgency that has the reader at the edge of their seat. Every time I pick up one of her books, I’m sucked immediately into the action and the just pages fly by. Her characters are believably flawed, grow beautifully, and the bedroom scenes are turn-the-fan-on hot.

Here’s what you’ll get with Lonely Eyes:

Hot (and I mean SUPER HOT) Hero
Insanely Talented Heroine
Skeletons in The Closet
Steamy Bedroom Scenes
More Than One HEA (So, so good)
Amazing Side Characters
Incredible World Building
Self Defense
Dragon Slaying (Metaphorically Speaking, Of Course)

Put this on your TBR list now, you won’t regret it!

What a rush!!! This book took off from the very first page. It was a thrill from start to finish.

Owen is ex-military. He has a dark past and some terrible secrets in his past. But he is a protector by nature. Now a small-town mechanic, he just lives life one day at a time.
One night on the way back home from a wreck, he crosses paths with a young man who passes out as soon as he tries to help. Upon closer inspection the unsuspected individual turns out to be a she and not a he. What could have pushed such a young and stunning woman to run?
Kiera is on a mission. A mission that must work. She does not know what she will do if she fails her mission. But she must protect her grandmother. When she wakes up in a tow truck with a strange man, she thinks that she has lost her battle. It is not until the strange man convinces her to accept his help.
This story is an adrenaline rush from the start. It is a dark and twisted tail that is so scary, you will feel for Keira and want her to succeed. It has a cast of amazing characters in the small-town setting in Spencer, Colorado. The author sets the story up perfectly from start to finish.
Even though this is book 12 in a series, I was able to follow along and not feel lost. The story can be read as a standalone. But now that I read it and know there is more to the town of Spencer and its misfits, I want to start and the beginning.
With a cast of intense characters and story setting in a small-town, this book will thrill its readers till the very end. This HEA book will pull on those heartstrings and make you cry and scream out. It is sensual and serious rolled together to make a read that will have you on the edge of your seat the entire time.

This is the first book I have read by Author Bernadette Jones.. it was interesting and intriguing.. it was well written and flowed well .. full of suspense and chemistry .. even though I don’t love third person I really enjoyed this book ..

This book kept me on the edge of my seat.. waiting to see if she was going to tell Owen everything and what would he do when she finally does .. I was also waiting for the monster or monsters chasing her to catch up to her and what would happen then ..

This story is about finding love in the oddest of places, trusting someone when you arent used to trusting people.. it’s about fireworks between two people who arent likely to meet otherwise.. it’s about wanting to protect those you care about at whatever the cost ..

When she finally lets him in it’s like she finally has a safe place to fall .. I love that he calls her “lil bit” .. when they both take chances on each other it just might be the pay off of a happily ever after .. they definitely have a story to tell .. I will definitely be reading more from this author!

So good! Love the camaraderie and shared lives of this chosen family! This book has everything I appreciate in romantic suspense. It’s full of emotion and humor and all things real in life, relationships and love, plus there’s bad guys and hot, bad-boy good guys with genuinely kind hearts fighting for and protecting the people they love. Makes for a great read that is tough to put down. I always enjoy this author’s writing and style. I’ve read this book three times already and can’t wait for more to come from this author!

WOW! Just finished this book and I can hardly breathe it was so intense and exciting. This story has it all: mystery, romance, and, chosen family of the heart. There is a brotherhood among this group that surpasses any I’ve ever met. A struggling waif walks along a cold rainy mountain road and along comes the tow-truck having just left an accident. The lives of many are involved and changed forever. I loved this book.

Owen is another great hero from Jones. He is tough and kind and just the man Kiera needs in her life on the lamb. Not only is she hiding, she is seeking a very specific someone in Spencer. Jones pulls in other beloved Aspen Gold characters with rich story-telling, masterfully weaving their lives together. I loved this story.

Bernadette Jones is a cinematic writer, and "Lonely Eyes" is ready for film. Every scene unlocks something new for the reader, and keeps the plot driving forward: mysterious hitchhiker, cryptic clues, hottie-hot couple, an iconic grapefruit scene, sexy moments in the shower, super-villain suspense, action hero ending. And with all of that delicious romance, she effortlessly weaves in a true-to-life story of a family disassembled in the turbulence of war. Bernadette Jones explores how love can cross boundaries and hold through generations.

Like a summer blockbuster, this book is fun, it's super steamy, but through all the fantasy, it holds a perfect portion of real-life grit to make the love story satisfying.
I hope she does a sequel.
