#buzzwordchallenge 2023- weather

A very clean romance. Daisy answers an ad to work at a Cornwall Bakery for free, with room and board included, for her vacation time. She needs a break from her job, her ex boyfriend, her roommate and her bridezilla sister. Its a chance to try something new and breathe. The people are warm and welcoming. And then there is Ollie. A sweet cupcake guy, as I call them. Sweet on the outside and mushy on the inside 😍

Its a series, and its free on KU. The next book is a Christmas story, but why not celebrate Christmas in July?

This book is the first in a “Escape to…the Cornish Bakery” series and if the first book is anything to go by – it promises to be an excellent series.

If you’re looking for a feel-good book that screams “run away and start a new life by the sea”, then this is the book for you! The characters are well rounded, fun and I miss them already.

I always try and included a content or trigger warning on themes that can be particularly upsetting. I have mentioned before, we often read chick-lit as a form of escapism and I think the heavier themes should be highlighted. This features a TW of: parents death, drowning.

Daisy Green is on the run from her life – and her cheating ex-boyfriend. Taking up residency at Elsie’s Cornish bakery, in exchange for bed and board, Daisy finds skills she never knew she had and gets stuck in planning a wedding with the dishy Ollie. This is a laugh out loud, feel good romance and definitely a great summer read.

A super cute small town, sea side, short romance story.

Including everything you could want from a short story romance - escaping a cheating ex, office job and (seemingly not that great of a friend). Add in a small town full of amazing kind women, a charming man and a dangerous event. Then a happy ever after ending. Perfect.

There were little things in the story that could have been developed more such as ollies parents deaths, the girls at the bakery etc but in a short story you just can't get the depth you could if it were longer so that is forgiven.

I am excited to read the rest in the series!

A real escapism novel, leave reality and live by the sea in a warm cocoon of love, cupcakes and coffee, something that we all would probably have liked to do at times, when life has dragged us down and made us feel sad. Easy, pleasant read with just a little dangerous drama thrown in.

This was a heartwarming read. Predictable in places but that doesn't take anything away from the story and I look forward to returning to The Cornish Bakery series in the fuure.

Very enjoyable read surrounding a young woman named Daisy who needs a break from her overbearing and somewhat abusive boss when she comes upon an ad looking for someone who would be willing to work at a quaint bakery with the pay being a free stay in a very cozy room upstairs. She jumps at the chance and it turns out to be the best decision of her life.

She doesn't miss the extra-long days doing work that's never enough and never appreciated. She falls in love with the area, the people who are so friendly and helpful, and especially one guy who is too good to be true. Yes it's been done before, but this book handled it in a way that kept me reading on.

You will find yourself rooting for the kind Daisy and hoping her boss, who calls her while she is on vacation demanding she do some emergency work for her, falls into the ocean.

FREE GET AWAY -- NEW LIFE OPTIONAL

I really needed this book. It was 111°F outside and I was snuggled up with a cozy!! What a delightful read it was. Interesting hook in the plot. Young ladies find an advertisement to take a job volunteering in a Cornish bakery for free room and board. What a solution this could be for many women. Escape, be anonymous, learn a new skill or relearn one and your backstory is whatever you want it to be. You won't be the first to volunteer and not the last!

It was a decent read but I didn't care much for the main character, Daisy Green. She came off as kinda rude and I felt like she wasn't all that grateful for how kind the folks at the bakery were and how patient they were. Also I'm not a huge fan of romance anymore, especially insta-love, so I didn't really care for her relationship with Ollie. Ollie was a good character. Maybe a bit too kind and considerate for someone like Daisy? 🤔 Anyway, it's a sweet, clean romance, so there's that.

love the Cornish setting!

A very enjoyable sweet romance. Daisy is escaping a ton of pressure back in London and takes a couple weeks to help at a bakery, a place where workers turn into friends and then family. She ends up helping Ollie finalize the arrangements for his sister’s wedding and they begin an uncertain romance of their own. Lovely setting, enjoyable characters, a creepy ex, and bonding over seals!

Predictable, but Nice

I like the idea of a place like this bakery in a perfect local and totally accepting people. I like the idea of finding the love of your life there by chance. You know from the beginning what’s likely to happen, but the way it unfolds is sweet.
Now, where do I sign up?

What a gorgeous book. I really enjoyed this one and fell in love with all of the characters and their backstories. The only negative is that the Cornish bakery doesn’t exist, as I now want to live and work there too!

5* and I’ve already downloaded and started the second in the series ♥️

Romance

As romance novels go, this one would be a good choice. It is a quick read filled with good characters and a predictable story line. And, of course, a good cry at the end. What more can you ask for!

An excellent read

I enjoyed this tale of a woman, feeling unsettled in her life, taking a working vacation because she can't afford a relaxing one. It's sweet and clean with characters that jump into your heart and with writing that made me late to work!
