Dosed to Death - a review by Rosemary Kenny.

Dosed to Death is PD Workman's slow-build story of trainee ME Kenzie Kirsch and her PI boyfriend Zachary, as their country-retreat holiday reveals some of their backstory and how events have exacerbated Zachary's PTSD. Kenzie also hopes that having Zachary's brother Tyrrell and his family's company at the resort will help matters too.

A huge snowstorm cuts the hotel off from the outside world, (imagine the atmosphere at the Overlook Hotel in The Shining) and the disparate group of guests are soon without heating, cellphone coverage or electricity, which makes Zachary very tense, as fires are lit for warmth.
First, the owner/manager of The Lodge is found unexpectedly dead in bed, then later a female guest is murdered...who'll be the next to die?

As the investigation and blizzard continue in inverse proportion, what shocking event takes place next? Will Zachary have to face his personal demons?

Dr. Kenzie Kirsch and her boyfriend Zachary have just gone through a chemo and ant-viral protocol, and are recovering. Kenzie decides what they really need is a vacation away from home to finish recovering and spend some quality time together. So she books them a cabin for a week at a mountain-top resort in Vermont. But this vacation doesn’t turn out to be very relaxing! There’s quite an eclectic group of people also booked, and no one is happy when a storm moves in and shuts them off! Then strange things start happening. Can Kenzie, with her Medical Examiner background, and Zachary with his PI experience figure out what’s going on? An exciting and pulse-pounding read! I am on the author’s ARC team and am happy to write this voluntary review.

Another 5⭐ story!

P. D. Workman never disappoints. This latest story in the Kenzie Kirsch series is another well-crafted mystery full of suspense, plot twists, and nail-biting tension as Kenzie and Zachary work diligently to unravel the clues to the bizarre happenings at the lodge where they were hoping to enjoy a peaceful and relaxing vacation. Of course, nothing goes as planned. Dead bodies, winter storms, power outages, and hallucinating guests are just the beginning. Grab a tasty beverage, a comfy chair, and settle in for a whopping good story.

I was provided with an advance copy of this book for which I thank the author, but my honest and unbiased review is offered voluntarily.

I'm enjoying the Kenzie Kirsch Medical thriller series since it seems that when Zachary and Kenzie are together, things are better than when they work alone. Dosed to Death is a quick-paced read with a good flow, lots of clues, depth to the characters and the story and all set in snowy Vermont. The descriptions of the location - both the cabins, the Lodge and the outdoors - were vivid and made me feel like I was there. There were descriptions of planned activities that seemed what some might want to do while on a wintry vacation that added a nice touch.

The whodunnit was a surprise not only for whom committed the crimes but also why. There was some romance thrown in along with many guests at the Lodge whom we got to know slightly. I liked the additions of some of Zach's family members and their importance to the story. There was some closure with the crimes solved but the story ended too abruptly for me. There was a chance to go a little further and tie up what for me were still some loose ends especially with the involvement of the local police. More details of that time would have been nice even if part of an epilogue. At the back of the book there was a preview of the next book in the series, Gentle Angel, that left me wanting more!

Ms. Workman is an author's whose books I've enjoyed. All involve mysteries along with some of the darkness of everyday life - addictions, mental illness and depression to name a few.

This book takes Kenzie and Zachary out of their usual setting, as they visit a wooded resort for some much needed relaxation. Shortly into their stay a big snowstorm knocks out power and cell service. And then the deaths begin. Ms. Workman has written another nail-biter of a mystery! The characters are endearing and relatable, the plot is nice and twisty and the storytelling is superb. I enjoyed this book and am looking forward to the next one. I received a complimentary copy of this book and chose to write a voluntary, unbiased review.

I received a review copy from the author at my request and this is my honest opinion. This is a great entry in what is turning out to be a very exciting series. Ms. Workman can come up with some very different plot lines and keeps her readers on their toes. There are all of the great qualities I've come to expect from Ms. Workman: great and realistic characters, plenty of action, medically challenging situations, both for the plot and for her characters, plenty of red herrings to keep the reader guessing, and a surprising ending. I can't wait to read the next in the series.

I loved this installment of Kenzie and Zach's adventure to a resort for a relaxing time until a storm and dead bodies left them no time to relax. This book had the hallmarks of Agatha Christie's storyline with plenty of characters to ponder while stuck at the resort due to a storm. Agatha would have been proud.

Kenzie has booked a romantic break for her and her partner(Zachary). Life has been a little fraught, and his mental health is suffering. She believes that the relaxation at a place way into the country is just what they need.
Unfortunately a major storm blows in and everyone in the hotel is stranded. Strange going on, a dead body, followed by a murder leaves them all fighting for survival.

This is a variation of a classic plot, but the combination of the great characters and the fantastic storytelling, makes this a very good book. No doubt the best I have read from this author.
