The Grey Wolves #15

The Wolves Descend

Rate this book
The fight for dominance begins.

The period of mourning for the great alphas, Vasile and Alina, is over. But some refuse to move on. The high fae, Perizada, vows never to experience the loss of her friends--her family--again. She knows the only way to do this is to take on the Order of the Burning Claw herself. But her mate would never allow it. So, she does the only thing she can, severing all ties with her allies. Peri’s decision could destroy her enemies, the Order, but it could also destroy everything she holds dear.

The end of mourning also marks the beginning of challenges to the new alpha of alphas, Fane Lupei. Rogue wolves who desire to rule in his stead attempt to stake their claims. Though Fane abides by pack law when facing his opponents, others aren’t so honorable. Fane soon realizes the threats he faces aren’t just against him, but against his entire pack.

Skender and the fae, Tenia, fight against the mate bond drawing them closer. They both know they cannot be together, but the bond is more powerful than either expected. Meanwhile, Skender has promised to keep Tenia’s son, Torion, safe--a promise he’s willing to die to keep. Skender soon finds out that there’s more to the boy than meets the eye, and Skender’s ability to keep the boy safe could be the key to saving them all.

Hello, Readers. My name is Quinn Loftis and I am lucky enough to call myself a novelist. In 2011, I self-published my first novel, Prince of Wolves with no expectations, other than my friends and family might purchase the book out of pity. Now, several years later, with 30+ novels and counting under my belt, Prince of Wolves had been downloaded over 1 million times. Though I was hesitant at the time to submit my work to the world for their scrutiny, I'm so glad I did. It made my dream of making a living by telling stories a reality.

I'm blessed to share my household my wonderful husband of more than twenty years (who also co-writes with me on occasion), three beautiful sons, a French Bulldog, and an oversized tabby cat. I love hearing from readers, so if you have any questions about the books or my journey, don't hesitate to hit the 'Contact Quinn' in the menu above. Thank you so much for taking a chance on my books.

If I could burn half of this book to absolute hell and dance on its ashes with glee, I totally would.
Hello
I am angry.
And happy.
And frustrated.
And extremely giddy.

Yes, this is book 15.
Yes, the 16th book comes out this April because I'm pretty sure (in the nicest way possible) that the author is possessed with an ability to write a new book every month.
And make me interested in it.
Also, yes, I plan on reading the book.

Oh! And I will of course be writing a whole ranting essay about my utter disguntingness feelings that comes to mind when the word female and 'I must protect her', 'stay and protect the children love, while I go out there to the war, even when knowing that if I die YOU DIE AS WELL AND OUR CHILD IS LEFT WITHOUT PARENTS HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA SO SO SMART' and obviously without forgetting the fact that everyone is pregnant, and you know how much I LOVE THAT TROPE-

*breathing harshly* I do indeed need to rest my murderous soul and carry on some stabization of my own.

Tataa, dear ones. I'll try not to behead anyone while I rethink my life choices.

the book was really good though, goshdarnit

..........................

I have an incredible hatred for the word mate and any of its derivatives.
The men need to back off and let the women fight for once-
Ms. Luna great magnificence can just die because I want the characters to live their lives no matter who they're chained connected to.
AND THE WHOLE LIVES INTERTWINED SO IF ONE DIES SO DOES THE OTHER IS SO GOSHSMAKING STUPID-

Of course, I'll read this book.

I have had the distinct pleasure of being an ARC reading for book 15- The Wolves Descend by Quinn Loftis. First of all Quinn writes all of her stories with talent that was given to her by the grace of God and man did he pour it in her. Like each and every one of her books the ending is like having a mic dropped. And it leaves you craving the next book like water on a dry day.

This book was heavy; tears were shed, words were yelled, panic seized my heart. But I kept the pages turning, dying to know what happened next. All still reeling from the loss of the Alpha pair, facing a monster villain that has only grown, many of the pack and their allies are still trying to find a way to move onward. Some find joyous news that lightens their loads, others turn to their mates while some struggle to find a way to cope. Rogue wolves ready to fight, the Order preparing for something nefarious how will our band of wolves face everything and win? With so much going on in the story you never know what will happen. Quinn works magic on the pages and when they cry you cry, when they yell you yell, when they laugh you laugh. If I could give more than 5 stars I would, you have to check out this one but I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you read each book, and in order!

I really am just a sucker for this series! I adore all the characters, regardless of their stupid mistakes, and I enjoy watching them journey through life and all the ups and downs they face. (and they face MANY of them!) This series is a comfort read for me, I do reread them.

The Wolves Descend is full of action in some way or another, with the mourning period over, the enemy advances. This installment leads to more questions than ever and with little to no answers. However, the answers we do get is SO intriguing and I'm ready for the deets! Part of me knows this means more books! But also, dang it's hard to wait LOL.

The biggest theme in this one is; pain from grief. Where do you put it? How do you heal from it? And most importantly how do you come to terms that it's inevitable? The loss of a loved one is hard and every single person deals with grief in a different way. Watching my favorites continue to handle something so gut-wrenching was hard, but I was healing with them.

Thank you to Quinn for allowing me to read an advanced copy for review.

The Grey Wolves Descend was an excellent continuation of the series. If you’re familiar with the Grey Wolves by Quinn Loftis you’ve been reading her books since the beginning. If you haven’t, I would suggest doing so!
I was very lucky to receive an Advanced Reader Copy for this book, and I read the book twice before leaving this review.

Our original lovebirds, Fane and Jacque are in the spotlight again. We see immense growth in the pair, during a time when many others would crumble. We also hear from the rest of the gang and get to learn from their woes, laugh with them, cry with them and mourn with them.
We mostly want to throw something in frustration at some of the characters though, because we love them as if they are family, especially when they’re acting foolish!

The author has the ability to reel her readers in and hold them steady as they are again and again thrown through a tornado as they follow the journey of the characters.
This book does not disappoint, and as always there have been twists and turns on this roller coaster that we’re not expected, but I enjoyed them all the same.

Go ahead and read this book!

Must read for all lovers of GWS and GHS if you haven't yet started, you really should get on this bandwagon so to speak 😁 Quinn never disappoints, once you start her books you can't put them down and I personally am never mentally or emotionally prepared for the ride she takes us on with this series! I will be honest I read this book twice in 2 days 😂 and nearing the end both times I was trying to come to terms with being left with more questions! that I had to accept I just wasn't going to get those answers to in this book 😔.. If your anything like myself I like when a book makes you question but what I really love are getting the answers! 😜 As these will be festering till I get them, I'm not patient in this respect but I know I'm gonna have to be... so am willing to try as is the way of life.. Lol. I still really enjoyed The Wolves Descend and was lucky enough to receive a ARC 😊 thanks so much Quinn, blessed to be apart of the amazing journey you take us all on! Though it brought tears, frustration and a whole bunch of emotions to the surface (wouldn't be a Quinn book if it didn't). You can relate to the characters as always, as real life aspects that at one point or another in life we have all experience in some form. I look forward to the next wild ride as no doubt will love and enjoy, like all Quinn's books, as well as get some answers, at least I hope 😂 to some much needed to know questions!! 😜
Until then I will carry hope and wish you and your families all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New year xoxo

I had an opportunity to be an advanced reader for this book through Quinn Loftis's awesome ARC program that she does. I fell in love with the series two years ago and have read it over and over again especially when a new book comes out. Quinn's writing has had me hooked to this series since I discovered it like a fish hooked to a line the hook is in deep. I just can't get enough of it! As such, The Wolves Descend did not disappoint. Somehow Quinn is able to make you feel all the emotions (happy, sad, upset, etc.) all in one chapter. This was an absolutely amazing book that made me want to re-read the whole series again because it is that good. If you are looking for an amazing series to get hooked on you cannot go wrong with this. Quinn has become one of my favorite authors thus far due to her affect on all the emotions. This book had me screaming at some parts and ended with a cliff hanger that has me begging for more. Book 16 cannot come out fast enough! Thank you Quinn for your amazing writing and anyone who happens to stumble across this review please literally immerse yourself into this series because you will not regret it!

If I could give this book more than five stars I definitely would.
Quinn Loftis "Prince of Wolves" book kicked off my love for e-reading and here we are 15 books later and I still sit on the edge of my seat while reading this series. Quinn is the ONLY author (IMO) that can write 15 books in one series and still leave her readers hooked. Most series that have multiple books like this become a tad boring to me. It's almost like they repeat themselves or that I can guess how the ending will be. That is NOT the case with TPW series.
If you haven't read this series I strongly suggest you do. You will laugh, cry, rage and be completely stunned.
There's so much I want to say about this book but I do not want to spoil it for anyone.
There would only be one thing that I would change about The Wolves Descend and that is that I would love to see a certain main character become a bit stronger in her role. Aside from that I enjoyed everything about this book.
Thank you Quinn for giving me a chance to be an ARC reader. I enjoyed every second and never wanted it to end.
I will definitely be back to update this review in more detail after it's release date 💙😁

I have followed the grey wolves series for years and it never disappoints. I seriously could not put it down and ended up only taking me a day to read. Honestly, I don’t even know how to process what I have just read. Quinn loftis has thrown me for a loop in the best way possible.

After A Grey Wolves Howliday I was not quite sure where the story was going to go but I have to say this was not what I expected. That being said the story was written perfectly leaving me wanting to desperately read on to see what happens but also throw my phone away because I can’t bear to know what happens next. I also enjoyed that Jacque and fane were back in the spotlight and that all the characters make an appearance. I love that the writing perfectly conveys the spectrum of feelings they were experiencing keeping me on the edge of my seat the entire time. I really enjoyed this latest installment and book 16 cannot come soon enough.

This is my second time being an ARC reader for the Grey Wolves Series and this was the perfect Christmas gift after the year that was 2021.

I want to start off by saying I absolutely love Quinn Loftis. I have been reading this series since it first came out quite a few years ago and never once lost interest in it. I re-read it about 1-3 times a year depending on how busy I am. If you are a person who loves emotional rollercoasters in books then this is for you. The words Quinn has you reading have you on the edge of your seat the whole time. I was blessed to be one of the ARC readers and once I picked up this book I didn’t put it down until it was done. I have loved and hated every moment in this book. I loved how easily I was hooked and hanging on to every word written, however I hated what the characters were put through, I wanted to just jump into the book and hold them all safe in my arms. The new twists and turns in the book are exciting to read while also trying to figure out how they will play out later on. Over all this book is worth the read, honestly this whole series is work the read so if you haven’t yet go check out the first book in this series which is Prince of Wolves. Happy reading everyone.

I was one of the people picked to be an ARC for this book.
Quinn is a very remarkable writer. She weaves this world of love and loyalty. She also throws in suspense and every other emotion you could possibly have. And of course, she puts in faith. Not just faith in whomever you view as The Creator, but faith in those you hold close. And all of this all rolled into one book. One book that leaves you on edge of your seat. Yelling what are you doing? She has you feeling like you are part of this world that she has created. I find that to be a very great quality, for it makes you committed to wanting to finish this journey with not only the characters in the books, but with Quinn herself. You become part of the family, the pack. I would definitely recommend this book, and all the others prior to this one.

What to say about this amazing Book. Yet again Quinn has thrown it out of the ball park. I'm one of the lucky few that got an ARC and I loved every page of it. I have laughed and cried. Things that I didn't think would happen did happen and it did in this book. I love the fact that the character have matured and grown as people and wolves. I can't wait until the next book. There is only one bad thing about this book and that is that it ended. Quinn is an amazing author and has a brilliant talent and I for one am honored to be able to read her wonderful book series as this book bring two of her series together seamlessly and I enjoyed every word of it. Definitely recommend this book series and author.

NO SPOILERS!
I was truly blessed to receive an ARC for this book. Unlike Quinn, I myself do not have a way with words but I will do my best.
Quinn Loftis' books are always the first I recommend when I'm asked "Do you know any good books?". You're probably wondering why I always recommend her. If you read just one of her books you would understand but if you haven't read anything by her I will try to explain why her books are my go too.
Quinn Loftis is like a magician when it comes to words, pure magic. She has a way of imbuing words of wisdom into her books that I've yet to see in other books. There seems to be a piece of information or wisdom that just fits. I don't know how else to explain it. It's almost like she knows exactly what you need in that moment that you are reading one of her books and then bam! Insightful words that just reach right into your soul.
The way she writes makes you feel, truly feel, the emotions that her characters are feeling. I have felt love for her characters, happiness and sadness and also grief. I have hoped a character will do right and been sad when they chose not to. You cheer characters on and you curse the bad ones. Its definitely an emotional rollercoaster but i wouldn't change a single thing about her books. but maybe grab some tissues because one way or another you'll be crying. Mostly from laughter but also some sadness. Just remember to watch out for Jen. She's kind of mouthy but will make you laugh more than you ever have when reading a book.
I recommend this book whole heartedly as I recommend all of Quinn Loftis' masterpieces. Thank you Quinn for creating a world so many people love to get lost in.

First, I want to say thanks to Quinn for allowing me to very an advanced ARC reader for this book. I started reading and couldn't stop, had to remind myself I have a job. This book was so well written as always with Quinn.... if you're a lover of GWS or GHS you'll definitely love this addition. As I try to keep this spoiler free, I'll say this... there's so much going on and happening that you really won't want to stop til you get to the end.
Since book 1 I've been hooked on these books and I can definitely say this one was a roller coaster... Will definitely be rereading. Cannot wait to add the hard copy to the collection!
Thanks for an amazing read and a familiar world to escape to Quinn.
Much Love. 💙🐺

Non Spoiler Review First time ARC reader
I had the honor and the privilege to one of Quinn's ARC readers for book 15 "The Wolves Descend." I'm so honored to be selected. I finished this book in one day! It did not disappoint it's her best one yet in my opinion! First this book will break it's readers emotional and you will not be put back together until book 16 comes out. Second you will laugh with classic Jen one lines. Third there are so many twists and turns you will never see coming! My final thought is the epilogue will you be breathless.🐺 Ps. Just when I thought Quinn could have not possible elevate her books any the higher she proves me wrong! proud member of the Romanian Canis lupus pack!🐺🐺

Once again, Quinn Loftis has created another amazing book and I couldn’t put it down. I had the privilege of being an ARC reader again for Quinn Loftis, and I have to say that “The Wolves Descend” was absolutely enthralling. There were many ups and downs with my emotions, many questions answered and yet even more questions that I have now that I have finished the book. Quinn has created, in my opinion, yet another masterpiece and it is just as amazing as the rest of the series, if not better. I highly recommend the series to anyone looking for a good book series to read. I can not wait for the next book of the series.

Oh my heart! This book really digs into the tremendous character of our band of heroes! Quinn knows just how to weave a story that keeps you on the edge of your seat and engages your heart completely in the character's lives. I read these books, and am transported to Romania with these amazing characters! In The Wolves Descend, you will have many questions answered, but there are many more raised. As an ARC reader, I can't give out any spoilers, but this book is essential to the story and you won't want to put it down until you've finished, and even then you'll wish the next one was right in front of you! Don't hesitate! Read it in one sitting! You'll be glad you did!

I was privileged to receive an ARC of this book. As with all of the books in the Grey Wolf Series, The Wolves Descend did not disappoint. I started reading this series a few years ago and I am drawn deeper into the story with each book.

It is hard for some to imagine characters from a fantasy fiction series could be this real and engaging, but they are. They become family and friends from the first book and I’ve become more attached to them as the story has unfolded. I have and will continue to recommend this series and this book to all my reader friends and family. I can’t wait for the story to continue.

Book 15 of The Grey Wolves series is a gut wrenching test of faith! This incredible book will take you on a Rollercoaster of emotions. Quinns wonderful gift of writing makes you feel everything the characters are. You will laugh, cry and howl in rage with them. She also has a way of making this supernatural story intertwine with life lessons you can apply to reality. You will see incredible growth, light, darkness, bonds strengthened, trust broken and faith tested. I am so greatful to have more time with the pack and can't wait for the next book! Thank you for letting me be an ARC reader. FOR THE PACK!!!

Wow just need a minute to say Quinn has done it again!! I’ve had the privilege to be ARC for Quinn for this the latest instalment to the GWS.

Throughout the books we’ve seen the characters grow and develop in depth so as the reader you become more invested in all the circumstances within the series. The latest edition ‘The Wolves Descend’ is no exception. Quinn has brought more laughs, tear jerking moments and opportunities to cheer the heroes on as-well as groan at the villains. She has seamlessly brought the GWS and GHS together without the reader being overwhelmed trying to remember all the specific details in the build up.

Reader beware this book will leave you begging to know the answers to questions and frustrated to have to wait until the next book. Make sure you clear time to read the book in full with a book hangover or prepare to be distracted looking for your opportunity to get stuck back in if you have to put it down to do some adulting!

Well done Quinn another trophy to add to the case with this book, one that once you pick up will be impossible to put down!

This is my 2nd time being an ARC reader and I love it! Quinn has an amazing imagination and her characters come to life right in front of our eyes! She had me crying happy tears a few pages in and I loved it! ;) As always, Jen doesn’t fail to entertain! And I love how sassy Sally has become! I'm not sure I can give an adequate review and do this book justice. If you haven't already started this epic saga then you really must.
I have been lucky enough to be an ARC reader for a few of Quinns books and I gotta say this one certainly did not disappoint. With every page you turn you are left guessing and let me tell you I guessed wrong nearly every time. It is once again beautifully written and I couldn't put it down.
I laughed and I ugly cried and I laughed again, I finished it with silent tears and a smile on my face.
I just wish I could give more stars as 5 doesn't seem enough.
I'm a tad fearful for the next book, but also super excited as I know it will be fantastic. Thank you Quinn

***Daughter's Review***
First off, wow, just wow, I am in shock…
Looking back at this book, three things impacted me the most: Lucien’s character development, the scene with Peri in the OTBC compound, and the relationship between Titus and The Great Luna.
Lucien stuck by his mate through everything she did. I learned from that to be loyal, dependable, and trustworthy. We can take the deeds we learn from peri and her actions to our own lives, being selfless, motivated, responsible, and accountable. Titus was given so much responsibility and independence at such a young age it taught me to be more empathetic, sympathetic, and supportive of people.
Second of all, I wanted to thank you, Quinn, for your excellent books, for allowing me to be an ARC reader(and thank you for doing it time and time again)!

The book, as always, was excellent.
This book dealt with loss, love, and friendship. It combines humor, romance, cliffhangers, action, edge-of-your-seat excitement, and so much more.
And the ending. Wow, it’s earth-shattering. It’s terrific.
Every book Quinn writes leaves me wanting more, whether plot-wise or answering questions like why? How? Noooooo and nooo way

Quinn gave me the honor of being an ARC reader and YES Im going to say it again, Quinn did it again, I was nervous for this book, to know what was going to happened, and I’m still in shock! IN SHOCK! Really I don’t have words to express what I felt reading this book, I just couldn’t believe it!.
You would dive into the story once more, you will get excited along with the characters, you will laugh, you will worry, be scared, you will LOVE, you’ll feel everything, you will even cry… yes you’ll cry. The power that QUINN has to make feel all those emotions and more than just feel but living everything together WITH them, that you are part of the story and part of this beautiful pack. Read it and just wait… just wait… FOR THE PACK

Apologies for what I am sure will be a long review without spoilers. This is the 15th book in the Grey Wolves Series. I was privileged to read an advanced copy and it is a privilege. I also always order my own copies (both electronic and hard copy) of Quinn Loftis’ books because she is that good and I need options when reading. The advanced copies give me time to read and re-read think about things and then when the book is released, I get to read again with whatever minor changes the author makes.

I have decided that all of Quinn Loftis’ books need to come with a warning for the reader like they have at amusement parks. “Do not get on this ride unless you are prepared for sudden and unexpected twists and turns and since you can never be fully prepared just get as prepared as you possibly can. Buckle your seatbelt!”

Like C.S. Lewis, Quinn has created a young adult fantasy world of mythical creatures dominated by a good versus evil theme. Because her characters are so real, you find yourself relating. They will remind you of someone you know or of yourself. You will find yourself wishing you had friends as loyal as those found in the Grey Wolves, and every woman I know wants one of those hunks as a true mate.

As a result of Loftis’ amazing writing talent, you feel the characters’ pain and joy. Her writing sucks you in and you get stuck like super glue. There is no escape hatch and like those roller coaster rides you don’t get to get off until the ride is over and done with. The good news is that the Grey Wolves are not over and done with, yet! She’s already working on Book 16.

For those familiar with Christian scripture, you will find ample allusions throughout the Wolves Descend. While she never quotes scripture, themes of grace, forgiveness, judgment, courage, and wisdom permeate. Human frailty is on display. Greed and power-hungry beings are constantly preying on the innocent and the wisdom of children is on display. Those who stand fast against evil grow weary of what seems to be unimaginable losses and defeat. Perhaps the scripture that The Wolves Descend most reflects can be found in Romans 8:37-39: No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, either the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Don’t worry, if you don’t ascribe to the Christian theology, like The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, you will still be immensely entertained. If you have not read any books in this series before; however, I do not recommend that you start with this one. While you will enjoy it, you will find yourself wondering about the characters’ histories and the mysteries that are either revealed or yet to be revealed.

The three main characters from book one, Prince of Wolves, are still here and still important. Jen, Sally and Jacque have grown. Snarky wit. Outrageous actions. Laughter at inappropriate moments happen often. Their mates have grown, especially Fane. He takes on the mantle assigned to him and he is supported by those loyal to him and the Great Luna. He must face challenges and lead. They must be conquerors. They are warriors. Even those who have suffered unimaginable sorrow are warriors. The other characters you have grown to love make appearances. Peri, Lucian, the Gypsy Healers, Zara, Wadim… you get to see them all. It is beautiful to reunite with the Grey Wolves Pack. After 15 books, they have become our family and we are part of the pack.

I enjoyed this book. I really enjoyed the thoughts/comments at the start of each chapter from a different character’s perspective, as it brings them to life and makes it seem like they’re actual real life people that would be awesome to have as friends/family. The mourning period of the loss of the Alphas Vasile and Alina has concluded. Now the rogue packs are challenging Fane’s leadership, as they believe he’s weaker than his father and want his power. All I can say is that they’re bloody stupid as not only did Vasile transfer his power to Fane before he died but the Great Luna also granted him with extra powers. As he’s the new Alpha of Alphas that will lead them all.

Peri isn’t coping with the loss of her friends Vasile and Alina. She decides that she needs to take on the Order of Burning Claw by herself and in order to make sure she doesn’t lose another person she loves and cares about, her friends/family she severs ties with her allies, including her mate bond with Lucian. I really don’t like that first Jen, then Jacque, then Bethany and now Sally is pregnant. Like they have centuries together so why do they all need to have kids straight away? Like why couldn’t some of the older mated couples have children like Rachel and Gavril? You can tell how much children mean to both of them, especially how much they’re always looking after the pack children. Especially with Gavril teaching Titus to hunt. The leaders of the Order of the Burning Claw, are still power hungry a*seholes.

WTF, I can’t wait for the wolves especially Nick to tear Ludcarab, Alston and Cain apart for taking Kara. I’m really not looking forward to the darkness that Kara will have to face being held captive with the Order, like the Great Luna said. As if it’s anything like Sally went through it’s going to be a rough ride. At least she’ll eventually be reunited with Nick just like Sally was with Costin. Wow, Skender has so much guilt about his actions that have sickened him so much that he wont even allow himself to claim his true mate. All he can offer Tenia is to protect her son Torion while she’s away being used by the Order.

Alston is stringing her son’s safety for her compliance. This is all he can offer Tenia, as he knows that he’s a dead man walking. Wow, what an ending. Quinn is definitely the Queen of cliff hangers, at least I don’t have to wait to read the next book. I really think that Titus and Torion are going to be the best of friends. I also can’t wait to see what Jen’s reaction is when she finds out what the Angel aka the Great Luna told Titus about Torion. I’m looking forward to reading the next book, and finding out how the Packs Hunt for Kara goes, and finding out what happened to Peri? I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
