GLORY IN DEATH
Lieutenant Eve Dallas never wavers in her search for justice. But now she'll learn that matters of the heart are never black and white...
J.D. Robb is the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling In Death series and the pseudonym for #1 New York Times bestselling author Nora Roberts. The futuristic suspense series stars Eve Dallas, a New York City police lieutenant with a dark past. Initially conceived as a trilogy, readers clamored for more of Eve and the mysterious Roarke. Stolen in Death (St. Martin's Press, February 2026) will be the 62nd entry in the series.
Hum...
2 books in 1, great idea! Saves space! I just wish I could put it down after completing the first book instead of reading until 4am!🤦 Anyway....the characters are interesting. I see the introduction of Peabody, who turns into an amazing character too. I enjoy seeing the characters mature and develop from book to book. The murder is always an intricate journey in finding the killer. I have read this entire series multiple times, but this one was easier to know the killer before the end. The ending in this one is perfect for Eve and Roarke. Roarke said it best with, "perfect timing."
They just keep getting better and better! This is my all time, numero uno, favorite series! I own and have read or am in the process of reading every book in this series. From Naked in Death when you get sucked into Eve's raw and gritty world and then teased with Roarke's world of glitz and glam to every heartbreaking crime after, they are all marvelous. I devour every word and I'm not ashamed or embarrassed to admit that I reread the series twice a year every new book is published.
Have read a lot of Nora Roberts but had not known of this series. As with all of her books, they are very entertaining and great for vacation, beach or waiting area reads. I really liked the Eve Dallas character and will try to continue on with this series!
Although I love the story, I’m not thrilled with the reader. The voice given Eve does not sound like the character or her personality. Next time I’ll stick to reading the book.
When I requested the book at the local library, I expected to read some new stories preceding the start of the 'In Death' series. As it turned out, this book covered the first two cases of said series rather than a new story which made me feel rather deceived and robbed of my expectations. Nonetheless, I did thoroughly enjoy reading the early tales of Dallas, Lieutenant Eve, and Roarke again, and shall probably never tire of devouring their adventures - on how they met and the early days of their relationship, both personally and, to a degree at least, professionally. Going back to the time when neither was really expecting to suddenly share their lives together, the rich and aloof guy from Dublin's backstreets and the dedicated and tenacious homicide detective who cannot remember her early childhood years due to unspeakable abuse. The other mystery to me is - I have thus far been unable to finish reading a book written by Nora Roberts, yet this series - which she writes under the penname of J D Robb - I cannot get enough of and have collected most of the books published thus far so I can reread them at my convenience. Is it as simple as the characters speaking to me, the setting, the suspense? I have no idea. And while I will warn first-time readers of this series that there are sex scenes included in pretty much every publication, they are short and toned down enough not to defer from the mystery at hand which is, in every case I have read thus far, intriguing, involving and 'tying' me to the book from start to finish, no matter how many times I have read the story before.
The first book was a little weird; the romance didn't seem to fit in with the mystery, and it all happened a little too fast for me, but I really enjoyed the second book. You know, once all the meeting and first time sex was over and done with.
I highly recommend this title to any reader who has been captivated by J.D. Robb’s characters; Eve and Rourke. Whether you are a brand new fan or faithful follower, “In Death” takes the reader back to the first 2 cases of Eve Dallas and how it all began.
very good. The love story of the main character makes it quite juicy. I do like to read books that continue with some of the main characters. can't decide if I should try to read more of her books in order or not.
I love this series! Actually gave this series a chance when I was searching for an interim title while waiting for the latest Sookie Stackhouse novel. I'm so glad that Ms. Roberts publishes on a frequent basis.
This was decent as a murder mystery. I give it 3 stars for the utter pointlessness of being set in the future. Why bother? It didn't really add much to the story.
In both stories, I liked the mystery, the writing, and the characterization of the strong female protagonist, but the futuristic setting didn't really do it for me. And I HATED the 'love story.'
