Begin a brand-new series from award-winning author Mary Oldham—two friends become lovers in book one of the Hotel Baron’s Series—a whirlwind office romance where the boss is never right…A Paris Affair
Daisy has never known the unconditional love of a traditional family. It’s not that she doesn’t believe in happily-ever-after. She’s just not so sure she’ll ever find it. But that’s the least of her concerns right now—if Daisy doesn’t land a job, she’ll have much more to deal with than just finding work. Fortunately, the stars are aligned. She lands her dream job and quite possibly her dream man too…except he’s her boss. And she’s totally against office romance for reasons only her mother knows. But she can’t seem to keep away—
Alex doesn’t believe in love at first sight. He doesn’t tolerate employee fraternization of any sort. When they first met, he found her delightful and someone he could imagine a future with—but then he’d hired her. She was his subordinate, and she was strictly off-limits. At least that’s what he’s been telling himself…over and over and over and over.
As they grow closer, they discover a mutual attraction that won’t quit. But, will Daisy get her Happily Ever After? Does Alex realize their love is real?

I like a good steamy romance novel -- especially if the setting is in Paris, London or the good ole USofA! But this one was totally out of balance and lopsided by a ton of page after page of gag-inducing repetitive sex scenes with explicit descriptions. Sadly, the storyline was left bare to the bones when it had such potential for something really special between two interesting characters.
I really wanted to like this one but it did nothing to help me out. So, my first read by this author was a disappointment. I've read so many good reviews on her books that I might give one of her other books a try, then again I'm feeling a bit tentative.
AHH.. All the Gorgeous feels this one evoked... 😍😍😍
That absolutely Gorgeous cover is the perfect Intro to all the gorgeous feels this book is going to make you feel.
Right from page 1, I was swept away into Daisy and Alex's story. The first time they meet.. AHH.. The stranger who asks to sit at Daisy's table. How she's so delighted to have the interest of a man who's very handsome and seems well mannered. Especially when she's just lost her job.
Alex brings hope and joy back in daisy's life. With the new job, everything would be perfect. Except Alex disappears and later she finds out Alex is none other than the very owner of Stark Hotels.
She needs her job more than she needs a man in her life. But there's something between her and Alex, that spark that they can't ignore even if they want.
But even when things seem to be moving ahead, daisy has trust issues even when Alex is a true gentleman. But her past has a strong hold on her beliefs and when things seem to good to be true, daisy finds herself in a toss, feeling things yet not wanting to be tossed aside later.
This book truly took me on a whirlwind ride, trotting around the world to some of the most beautiful and romantic places, visiting luxurious hotels, eating delicacies and embarking on a wild roller-coaster love story where both will have to trust each other and learn to be vulnerable enough to express their true feelings.
I absolutely loved taking this ride of finding love, along with Alex and Daisy. Their story was truly magical, special and touching deeply making me feel so many things.
Also, I absolutely felt horrible for what happens to Adam and he truly deserves another chance at happiness. Can't wait for his book next. Loved loved this one. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Oof. I did not like this book one bit. Alex and Daisy are too immature to be in a relationship. They both jump to conclusions and fly off the handle. Daisy is awful. She did not let Alex explain at all anything. He was a jerk at first, but he did at least try to be better. He could have been more upfront about who Maria actually was, but it wasn't his secret to tell. Daisy could not talk worth a damn! She flip flopped so much. Acted childish and made so many assumptions. It ruined the entire book. The pregnancy was added to try and give some validity to their relationship, but it just made her more like her mother. Not in a good way. The ending was too abrupt for the story especially with how awful these two are at relationships.
Every day for the last two weeks as Daisy Miller sat in the wonderful French cafe in Portland drinking a cappuccino she watched Mr. Gorgeous arrive at the same time to order his cappuccino and chocolate croissant. And everyday he would meet her eyes and smile before leaving.
But, today is different. She is distracted trying to decide if she needs to start sending out more resumes since her current job is ending and what if she doesn't get the job at Stark International Hotels even though she passed the first two interviews? But, her third and final interview was next week with their CEO Garrison Stark.
She is so distracted remembering getting fired for fighting off the advances of her previous boss's unwelcome advances she doesn't notice him arriving until he is at her table asking to join her. She looks up in shock unable to speak, but of course, she agrees.
She and Alex have a wonderful time until he needs to leave for an appointment he is going to be late for, but they make plans for dinner that night before he has to leave back for New York tomorrow morning.
Daisy stopped in shock and horror when she arrives for her interview and sees the name plate on the door. G. Alexander Stark. What are the chances? This couldn't be her Alex, but then he turns around and she can't deny what she sees. And he lied to her. He had been here the whole time and not in NY.
I absolutely loved this book! It is very well written and all of the characters are fully developed and relatable. Alex and Daisy are the perfect example of opposite attract. He is owns a worldwide hotel chain and she is trying to keep her head over water after being subjected to sexual harassment.
Despite his history of being a rich playboy, it is immediately obvious that he has grown up and left all the wildness behind. Daisy has major trust issues stemming from her mother's illicit relationship with her dad and feels that she may be following her mom on that hated path.
This book grabbed me from page one and I couldn't put the book down once I began reading. I laughed, I cried, I shook my head. This book has tragedy, distrust, romance and is steamy hot. If you've read her The Silver Linings Wedding Dress Auction you will find this book to have more sexual chemistry and behind the bedroom door scenes which are very sexy.
This book has a HEA, but it definitely takes you for ride of twists and turns. Highly recommend!
Okay, folks, I got to the 48% mark on my Kindle and could go no further. I wanted to like this book, I tried like this book, but when I started to worry about brain damage from near continual eye rolling, it was time to stop.
From the very beginning there are so many improbabilities that the suspension of disbelief become near impossible. Character development is shallow and the plot mere window dressing for the sexual interludes. It’s hard to enjoy a book that is so incomplete in so many areas.
Bottom line, this book reads like teen girl fantasies of romance which I outgrew before I was out of my teens. Clearly not my cup of tea.
This modern romance was sweet and spicy, with some angst and surprises along the way. I know Portland well, and loved the specific nods to the city. But the real stars were the characters. Female heroine with anxiety rooted in a complicated past meets former womanizer with a heart of gold. I was skeptical, and they won me over. I was also triggered, so be warned. Mary doesn’t shy away from the grittier side of mistrust and trauma. She also revels in the supporting characters, and I appreciated the depth the supporting players were given to create the 3D world our main couple inhabited. (Every woman needs a friend like Luis, who tells them how amazing they are AND respects the woman’s skills!) Like romance itself, each new romance novel is a gamble. But when you know, you know. This one is a keeper.
"A Paris Affair" is a classic story of a whirlwind office romance between a boss and his employee.
The story started off good but quickly went downhill for me
My main criticism is with FMC Daisy. The girl doesn't know how to communicate to save her life and makes assumptions about love interest, Alex, like it's her second job. The man has the patience of a saint I swear.
The random pregnancy to start off the third act felt unnecessary. I think it could've been left for the epilogue but that's just my opinion.
I had a bit of a reading slump while in the middle of this and I blame Daisy for it. Girl pissed me off enough for me to stop reading lol
I'll continue with the series since each book is a stand alone for the most part.

Unemployed Daisy Miller is up for a job at Stark International and little does she know that the handsome stranger she's been flirting with for the past few days would become more important than she knows
Having read some of this series out of order I knew some generalities of the Stark family and others in this Portland based storyline. And all I can say is, Mary Oldham is a queen of contemporary romance. This book had me from page one and I read it through in one solid piece ( much as I have with the others I have read) and lost track of time. This is a marvelous book. Highly Recommended 5/5
Oh, my heart. This book is full of feels. Mary Oldham writes with such passion and dedication. You feel everything the character is feeling. I felt like I was experiencing their journey with them. The characters are well developed and relatable, as are the supporting characters. A Paris Affair is enthralling and immersive. Alex and Daisy’s journey together is so heartfelt, emotional, and breathtaking. I couldn’t help but be swept away by their story. Their connection is undeniable. I couldn’t put this book down! Thank you to the author for gifting me this amazing book [and book mail] in exchange for an honest review.
Love this. From the very beginning you are drawn into and immersed in this love story. You feel like you’re right there in Paris and traveling to the elegant hotels with them. And there’s a cast of colorful, complex supporting characters that you meet along the way. Hurry Mary Oldham and get us the next installment. Great book to curl up with as winter sets in! Get this, you’ll be hooked to … follow this author…she’s amazing. Review by Jennifer Brun
Even better than her first novel, the author again shows her flair for creating real, fully dimensional characters with real feelings discovering true love against all odds. Again, everything a romance novel should be - touching, romantic, passionate, and always rooting for them to make it to forever.
I absolutely FLOVED Mary Oldham’s, “The Paris Affair”. Sooo terribly well-written and awesomely romantic. Ms. Oldham is a new to me author so I really had nothing by way of expectations going in. Thankfully, I totally loved it. I will definitely read more of the series!
Great series about challenges, loss, wonderful places, hardships and finding trust. Alex and Daisy went through tough times until true love happened. Well written.
This was a great international hotel story, with wonderful characters and a good story. It was exciting from beginning to end. I didn't want to put it down.
