Rest and War Bible Study Guide plus Streaming Video: A Field Guide for the Spiritual Life

Rate this book
Struggle well. Fight for progress. Know the One who has fought for you. The writer of Hebrews says that we are to "throw off everything that hinders" and run “the race marked out for us” (Hebrews 12:1). We are called to action and empowered to struggle well. And yet, as we navigate life, we realize there are difficulties without and discouragements within. Not only do we feel ill equipped to thrive . . . we don’t even know how to survive . In this six-session video study, Ben shares how this knowledge led him to develop a practical strategy of resting in God's strength and warring against the enemy's attempts to keep him locked into patterns of sin. He helps group members to likewise develop strategies that will enable them (1) overcome the deceptive strategies of sin aimed at their weaknesses; (2) orient their lives and loves around a God who cares for them, (3) recognize that under their misdirected affections and motivations is a deep longing for God, and (4) discover methods of overcoming personal shortcomings that do not rely on shame-based motivation. Life is hard, but there are promises to grip. Strategies and tactics to employ. Progress to be made. Are you ready? Ben Stuart your book changed my life for the better. Thanks so much. I am looking forward to reading more of your encouraging books. What a great book to use in a group setting. This book helps you develop a intimacy with God and how to plan time in your day to communicate with the Lord. I feel so much closer with the Lord now and take time to talk to him more and more each day. I am such a happier person now that I have put my trust in the Lord. A group from our church decided to use your book as our bible study guide and we all became closer to the Lord and to each other. What great discussions we had. I was sad when it was over, but we are going to recommend it to other small groups. Thanks again Ben for changing so many lives.

My husband and I went through this together while we were dating. I’ve always been a huge fan of Ben Stuart - he has probably been one of the most influential people in my faith - and his book and study guide did not disappoint!! This book really opened my eyes to spiritual warfare, which I’m not sure I was fully convinced existed before reading rest and war and working through the study guide. I could definitely see myself coming back to this over and over and really benefitting from it. It’s a pretty quick read and the videos that go along with it were very helpful as well. Can’t recommend enough!!
