Legends surrounding the Queen of Sheba shockingly reveal that the ancient city of Jerusalem was located in Arabia, not Israel, calling into question the Jewish people’s claim to the Holy Land. Historian Cameron Thorne, teamed with exotic Mossad agent Rivka Rogel, scrambles to prevent this revelation from sparking a deadly conflagration in the Middle East. Little do they expect that their efforts will lead them to Nova Scotia’s Oak Island and the long-lost treasure of the Knights Templar. Or that it all might be part of a larger scheme, the two of them pawns in a perverse, life-or-death subterfuge.
Based on actual historical artifacts, and illustrated.
Publishers Weekly says of the author, "BRODY DOES A TERRIFIC JOB OF WRAPPING HIS RESEARCH IN A FAST-PACED THRILL RIDE."
This is a stand-alone novel with recurring characters. The books in this series can be read in any order.
David S. Brody is a Boston Globe bestselling fiction writer named Boston's "Best Local Author" by the Boston Phoenix newspaper. A graduate of Tufts University and Georgetown Law School, he is a former Director of the New England Antiquities Research Association (NEARA) and is an avid researcher in the subject of pre-Columbian exploration of America. He has appeared as a guest expert on documentaries airing on History Channel, Travel Channel, PBS and Discovery Channel.
This was a twist and turn story line. Loved the characters and the suspense. Sad it was done. Kept the theme going very well. The characters provided great intrigue.
David Brody is a wonderful mix of author, historian, and entertainer. He plumbs the depths of alternative and plausible ideas while educating and making the reader ask...what if? Fun, readable, and fascinating. Highly recommend.
Cam can't catch a break. Must when his research is paying off, he becomes involved in an internet incident. The pain if that is jyst as bad as the pain of betrayal. Goid story overall, but it is getting too predictable in the series as a whole.
Sheba's Revenge: Oak Island and the Templar Treasure (Templars in America, #13) Kindle edition
"History is not truth. It records not what occurred but what is remembered." p. 305
This is a stand-alone novel with recurring characters. The books in this series can be read in any order.
Cameron (Cam) Thorne is a 47 y/o attorney and historian whose passion is researching sites and artifacts that indicate European explorers' presence before Columbus in America. His wife, Amanda Spencer Gunn died over a year ago. They adopted a Native American girl, Asrarte, who is a freshman at Montana University. Cam is currently dating Rivka Rogel, a Mossad operative.
Sigmund Staubach is a reality show producer who hires Cam to find a treasure. According to Sigmund, there is a buried Templar treasure on Oak Island in Canada. He wants Cam to determine if it is worth digging to find the treasure.
Meanwhile, there is a New York Times reporter, Nashwa, who is trying to prove that Jerusalem was not in the Holy Land, but rather in Saudi Arabia. They use the theory that when the Queen of Sheba was raped by Solomon, she had a son, who stole the Ark of the Covenant and took it to Ethiopia. Apparently, and according to the book, there are no archaeological references to the Temple before the 6th century B.C. There is also the fact that the Jewish people were exiled to Babylonia for over 70 years and when they returned they had no recollection of what the original land looked like thus when they settled in present-day Jerusalem, they had no clue it was not the original. There is also the fact that when Menelik I, Sheba's son, carried the treasure home, the timing and the route taken would not work unless Jerusalem was in Arabia.
Nashwa is using as her source a Boston University History professor, Jordyn Goldblum, who was the lover of the 9/11 terrorist Ziad Samir Jarrah who died in the plane that went down in Pennsylvania.
At the same time, Staubach has hired Ernest Ng, the man who killed Amanda, to add flare to his TV show. He is also filming Cam, Astarte, Rivka, and everything he thinks will add flare to the show.
Rivka has been activated to stop Nashwa's NYT story by any means. But Nashwa has a set of Arab operatives who are trying hard to make the story appear at the NYT.
Little do Cam and Rivka expect that their efforts will lead them to Nova Scotia’s Oak Island and the long-lost treasure of the Knights Templar. Or that it all might be part of a larger scheme, the two of them pawns in a perverse, life-or-death subterfuge.
Narrated from the third person point of view, this was a fascinating, easy, and fast read. The characters are alive and well. Even Astarte's peyote visions of her past life are integral to the plot. The plot is believable and based on actual historical artifacts, which are illustrated.
It was hard to put down, and if you like his prior work, you'll love this one too!
The Templars in America series is one of my favorite series that I've read so far. Mister Brody does an excellent job of combining actual historic fact with a fictional story that keeps you turning page after page after page. Even though every book in the series is a stand alone story, if you haven't started this series yet I suggest you begin With book #1 and go through the series in order. Every book is it's own story and adventure And there's so much history that you can learn In each of the books. Congratulations Mr. Brody on creating such a wonderful and entertaining book series.
This is such an exciting, fast-paced read! I hadn't realized Oak Island is an actual TV show, so I'll certainly be looking for it now. Sheba's Revenge has a good helping of Indiana Jones with a side order of Dan Brown and a pinch of James Bond (or I should say Jane Bond as the agent is question is female) for seasoning. It's based on a legend around the Queen of Sheba that suggests Jerusalem may be in Arabia, and Cam Thorne and Rivka Rogel have to find the truth. That truth may be uncovered on Oak Island in Nova Scotia where the Knights Templar may have buried their treasure. Of course some don't want the truth to come out and the race is on. Loved it!
Is Cameron still in great danger must he fight to keep his family safe
Ng still wants to kill Cameron he feels that its the work of the Lord but he's a puppet someone else is pulling his strings. There is so much going on in this story and so many groups involved. Is Cameron's new friend Rivika building into something more? He knows that she is a Mossad agent but how can that work for them. This is a must read exciting sad and some thuggish bullying to. Recommend
Out of all the books in the series that I have read (and I have read all previous ones), this story is probably the most exciting! There are so many twists and turns in the story and surprising outcomes that make this book a real page-turner. As with the other books in the series, it can clearly be seen that a lot of research has gone into the writing of this story.
For fans of Oak Island, do not get too twisted on details from the show. The history is great. The fictional spin is page turning fun. As always, there are so many historical nuggets to be discovered that keep me thoroughly engaged while reading with lots of exploring to do once the fiction winds down. Thank you, David Brody.
Although I have read a few of the series out of order, these do not disappoint. Fast paced, colorful characters and best of all mixed with history. You won’t be disappointed. While you do not have to read these in order, this is about the time that it will impact the story continuation.
I don't leave reviews normally but this book was hard to put down. I loved the differing stories within the larger storyline. I'm an avid reader of David Brody's books and this one didn't disappoint. I look forward to his next Templars series.
This was quite a history lesson. It was very involved, but once you sorted all the characters out was a good story. I read it as a stand-a-line but it was easy to see how it would be part of a series.
I love an adventure yarn, but I bounced off of this one when the female main character started thinking about how sexy she was. Look, I don't actually care whether she's sexy or not, but maybe let me decide rather than force-feeding me? Anyway this failed to engage my interest and was not for me
Being a regular watcher of Oak Island on the History Channel, I enjoyed the story. I can't believe the series has continued for so long. This story brings an unexpected conclusion with a fascinating sideline.
As usual, this was a full blown adventure! I love the many plot twists in Mr Brody’s books, and how he weaves fact and fiction into a thrilling tale. Much enjoyed.
Fun read with a hilarious new character. I always enjoy books in this series…they are full of adventure and just enough twists and turns to keep it interesting
