This is a quick read. Jessica has broken up with her boyfriend and her family doesn't want her around. Michael's girlfriend, broke up with him to be with his best friend. What will happen when they meet in a bar? Will they forever friends? Will their exes cause them problems or worst?

December 22, 2021Lots of drama with side characters, and the relationship is a slow build, but this one fell flat for me. I'm fine with insta attraction, but I just didn't see the connection beyond being told they have one. There's lots of telling in this one, and the narration style was a little distancing for me. I also found a lot of the dialogue didn't really flow naturally and just felt forced.

Cute
This story is a nice holiday romance. Its very sweet and I like the way they slowly got to know each other. Friends to lover kind of thing. Also there is that bear thing that made it a little more magical.

Almost readable
I got 68% of the way through. I really liked the opening. Both characters had bad breakups and consoled each other (verbally). The relationship started slow. All good so far!
Then, the negativity goes on overload. Exes show up to be aggressive and catty. Michael's best friend gets ugly. Jessica fights with her mom and sister-in-law by proxy. Everyone who disagrees with them are met aggressively. Nobody seems to like Michael, and Jessica has just a couple casual friends.
I began to wonder why nobody seems to like this couple. Then I realized, I didn't like them either. Michael is needlessly aggressive. Jessica holds grudges, and thinks everyone is out to get her. Nothing is their fault, so no character growth is happening here.

Jessica has just broke up with her boyfriend and then her mother disinvites her to their family Thanksgiving. Stunned that her mother you take her sister in law's side and do this Jessica ends up at her favorite bar. Michael finds out his girls has been cheating on him with his best friend and he decides to go a town over to a bar. The bartender introduces him to Jessica who is also having a bad time. They end up talking and bonding over their troubles. However Michael's ex isn't done making problems for him. One day when he takes Jessica out she shows up in bear form forcing him to shift in front of Jessica. Jessica is stunned by this but promises to keep his secret. His family is worried about her knowing their secret and invites her to their Thanksgiving. Another issues arises while she is at their home. Will they finally be able to move on? Can they be together?
This is a great story that will captivate you from beginning to end. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

Jessica and Michael meet at a bar after both having horrible days and in need of a drink. After everything that these two had been through they end up finding they are comfortable with each other. I like that they started out as friends and their relationship grew into love. I loved that when his ex started causing problems Michael shifts into his bear and defends Jessica and that's when their relationship takes a turn. A Bear for Thanksgiving is book one and a great start to the Holiday Shifters series and I look forward to reading the rest of this series. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Loved this
The last thing Jessica expected when she ended up at her local bar was to find a connection with the new man at the bar Michael. Jessica needed up seeing Michael transform into his bear protecting her from his ex which then led her to a different world one that felt more like home to her than what her own family was.
Michael was surprised how Jessica has taken to him being a bear shifter and even though the two of them had gone through a break up they clicked and started seeing each other and Jessica went to thanksgiving with his family even though when she was threatened by two other shifters she didn’t run but stayed and how Jessica took in her stride.

This was an "okay" read. I don't think I will go any further into this author. The magic structure of the story just wasn't there, changing how a shifter becomes a shifter is a little off for me. I was left confused. If the human and the shifter had a baby, what would the baby be? Much of the story annoyed me FMC and MMC urgh, to the elders to the actions of ex's. So many things were not okay but let fly. Felt incomplete the more I think about it.

Liked the premise
Fairly short, quick read. I was intrigued by the story premise, but I didn't feel it reached it's full potential. The editing was a little lacking in one or two places. I liked Jessica and Michael, no problem with the quick connection they felt, the antipathy Beatrice felt toward them was explained all too clearly by Michael and Jessica when she came to Jessica's house. Not a bad book, it just felt a little stilted in places. I read on Kindle Unlimited

The met at bar and shared bad breakup stories
Jessica dumped her boyfriend and headed to her local bar to drown her sorrows. Michael got blindsided by his fiancee she dumped him for his former best friend. The ex's made moving on difficult and probably pushed the couple closer together. Lots of angst and plants of scary moments. Family drama but Jessica's not bothered when the bears are so welcoming.

She just broke up with her ex cause his to much of a mommy's boy and she can't take it anymore, so here she sets in her favorite bar having a drink shrink a cute stranger walks in. This was a fun little holiday romance about a bear rejected & a girl who got rid of some extra baggage, in the form of a freeloading boyfriend! Michael & Jessica plan to just be friends, but life usually doesnt go to plan. When his ex & her new beau make themselves a nuisance, threatening Jessica, Michael & his family must protect her at all costs. This was a sexy, sweet, mildly steamy short story. Enjoy!

•Left a lot unresolved•
This was a tough read for me. The dialogue was almost robotic, things felt forced between the two main characters, a lot of repetitiveness and there were a few inconsistencies in character names as well as plot. It also felt like it was unfinished, a lot of the major plot points are left unresolved. I did like the overall concept of the story and enjoyed the bear shifter aspect of it.
This was a tough read for me. I really enjoyed reading this story. It was heavy on the ex-drama, unfortunately, I could relate. I enjoyed the slow start to getting to know each other, but when they did, it was awesome, like it’s supposed to be. I loved it when his whole family backed him up protecting her and making her family. Even tho it wasn’t an HEA, it was a sweet HFN.

I enjoyed reading this book and I believe other paranormal readers will enjoy it as well! There seemed to be a lot of chemistry between Michael and Jessica that I was surprised it didn't burn the place down, but I wouldn't turn my back on Beatrice, Michael's ex fiance. Cute holiday story
I liked that the story was about Thanksgiving. I also liked how it dealt with dysfunctional families. It made me remember sad times but that's ok. I loved how his family welcomed her to their meal and stood up for her even though they had just met. It was a good story even if they moved to fast! Lol kidding about moving to fast.

Great quick little read but needs some better editing
I enjoyed the characters in the story. The 2 that finally got together works through some problems but don't we all. The characters were well written easily understand not a lot of repetitive. The story line was typical jealousy by An ex. I recommend this book

Shock & Awe
I have to say that Jessica's response to Michael's secret was not the usual....I'm not so sure that I would not have responded with a million and five questions.
This was quick, simple girl meets shifter and they fall in love really slowly but everyone else knows what they are trying to avoid.

Too disjointed for my reading pleasure, the flow was not a writing style I liked.
Found the bear shifters behaviour weird in how they reacted to everything.
No heat between Jessica and Michael.
No completion about the nasty sister in law Betty’s behaviour and jealous tantrums.

I gave this 4 stars because of the cliffhanger ending. The story left me with questions about the happy ever after. The storyline was interesting and fun to read. But I wished for more.

I loved this holiday book and can't wait to read more Holiday books if they are anything like this one. It did have a few trouble makers in it,but what book doesn't have those that doesn't have those in them?! Worth getting and reading for sure.
