Book 2 in The Horde Wars series Cinder, Shikar warrior and strongest of the Incinerator Caste, has met his match in Steffy Michanke. He wants her as he has never wanted another and means to have her at any cost. Steffy, a woman with a dark past, wants nothing more than to break free from the sexy being who has vowed to protect her from the creatures that stalk them. Independent to a fault, she vows to deny the love that is promised in Cinder's fiery kiss, no matter how much she may yearn for it. Danger threatens from every shadow. Love and death walk hand in hand. Cinder and Steffy must join forces. The Daemon Horde is coming.
Sherri King lives in the American Midwest with her husband, artist and illustrator Darrell King. Hailed by industry officials as an e-pub phenomenon, Sherri is the author of critically acclaimed series The Horde Wars and Sterling Files, as well as the horror lit-erotica, Venereus.
Sherri L. King is a special reading treat -- I loved catching up with the fierce supernatural Shikar warriors, who fight the evil Daemon Horde and defend humans from the Daemon's increasing aggressiveness.
Cinder, one of the strongest of the Shikar warriors and the deadliest of the Incinerator Caste, is curious about a female human DJ in a Hamburg, Germany techno music bar. The DJ, Steffy, brushes him off.
An unexpectedly violent Daemon fight occurs near the bar and Cinder and Steffy meet again. Steffy, through her own inadvertant actions, is drawn into the Shikar/Horde war.
This is a roller coaster of action, suspense, danger, and steamy sex. I LOVE the Shikar world and the characters are so intriguing! Each one seems to have hidden secrets, hinted-at pasts ... it's thrilling to speculate about what's ahead in books 3-5 (and hopefully more) at the hinted at future plot twists and long-held secrets.
I'm not too familiar with the Fantastic Four or X-Men or whatever, but so far certain characters have special supernatural powers. Cinder's power, obviously, is creating fire. The Traveler can transport warriors through time and space. Some are healers, etc.
So I'm kind of reminded of superhero cartoons that I've half listened to over the years.
Good read, book 2 in The Horde Wars series. The heroine stumbles into one of the battles between the Shikar and Daemons and is sent to the Shikar fortress for protection. The hero is part of the team of Cady and Obsidian [book 1, Ravenous:] and as an Incinerator he wields the power of fire. She does not wish to give up her life in the world above and insists on returning, even though she is told that the Daemons will probably come hunting her. Cinder refuses to let her go unprotected and moves in with her. Sex between these two sometimes literally 'burns up the sheets'.
More intriguing hints are dropped about the Shikar and the world they inhabit...

Surprisingly good paranormal erotica. This is definitely rated X but the author wrote a good story to showcase the sex. The story revolves around a race of (are you surprised?) handsome and sexy men with supernatural powers. The Shikar are protectors of humans. Cinder encounters Steffy at a club and the sparks fly.
