Great ideas for "Leaf Peepers" - hopefully I will get there in 2018.

This book loses 1 star due to my inability to travel overseas at this point of my life. Armchair travel has its drawbacks.

Lonely Planet books are excellent. I am a native New Englander and since this year won't support much travel I'm doing lots of local travel. This has some great drives. I have done some of them in the past and did some over the last few weeks and will do more. I borrowed from the library and I'll either take it out again of purchase a copy.

I picked up this book looking for honeymoon ideas, but ended up with inspiration for many, many trips! Thankful to live in a part of the country with such beauty and variety. :)

Great travel guide for finding and planning any of 31 road trips named best in New England by Lonely Planet travel writers...highly recommended!

As a travel advisor, this book was instrumental in planning my own road-trip across New England! This guidebook includes multiple maps for reference, recommended stays and dining options, different itineraries, and eye-catching and easy-to-read graphics.
It is evident when reading this guide book that the author took extra care with planning out routes that would best suit a mass-market of travelers from cider trips in Vermont, winery crawls in Rhode Island & Connecticut, and the Woodland Heritage Trail in New Hampshire. This guide book has it all for New England road trips and is a worthy investment.

I loved this Lonely Planet title and yes it did cover a very wide area as in all of New England, but it did so by detailing thirty two driving trips in the six states. However, the info was concisely presented, suggesting trips of various day lengths, and varied sites and experiences. I focused on Vermont and plan to use this guide for a Vermont road trip. I loved all of the references to authors and literary places that were included. Will be seeking out more Lonely Planet titles.

This is not a New England Guide book per se but really about the feel of the road trips (as the title says). If you have been to New England it is rather basic, and if you want details about the towns you go to it is also rather basic. BUT if you want to plan some road trips and want a certain type for example: coastal New England, or Ivy league Tour etc. it is great.

LOVE the many mini-trip suggestions (i.e., the Ivy League tour) with a suggested number of days in addition to things to see and do along the way. Easy and interesting to read; more than an encyclopedic-type format. Could use a few more hotel and restaurant suggestions--only reason I did not give it 5 stars.

Read some, not all. Has good plans just not ready to go there so I'll read it again when I am.

Lonely Planet never disappoints.

Great for generating ideas, but you'll need several state-specific guidebooks to supplement your trips!

Great set up. An over view of places to go with long and short durations. By State.
