In Hey, Bruce!, Bruce the bear experiences . . . well, whatever readers want him to.
Rupert, Thistle, and Nibbs, the fun-loving mice in Bruce's begrudgingly expansive family, guide readers on a quest for a fun reading experience, with Bruce the ever-reluctant star. As readers turn the page, flip the book, and follow the mice's increasingly silly instructions, Bruce is sent flying and tumbling—all as he looks right up the reader's nose! How will you interact with Bruce?
Bruce's life is what YOU, the reader, make it in this special interactive addition to the award-winning Mother Bruce series.
I love the Bruce series of books by Ryan T. Higgins and this one just adds to the fun. This is a laugh out loud book where the reader gets to participate. Kiddos will enjoy making things happen to Bruce over and over again! – Jennifer K.
I probably shouldn't enjoy Bruce as much as I do at my age, but I've given up caring. I also love food and naps and want to be left alone. But these books are always so much fun. I love how Higgins can keep doing something new and entertaining which each one.
This was an amazing Bruce book! Any time I read these books I always want to go out and add these to my own personal collection. This book is so much fun and the illustrations are adorable! It's so much fun! Another favorite for sure!
It doesn’t get any better than a new “Bruce” book, but please do start with the first in the series. Bruce, a very grumpy bear has a family of geese that he adopted when his morning eggs hatched, and three mischievous ( adorable) mice that his gosling children became very attached to. Filled with humor and good will, Higgins books are an unparalleled joy to read aloud.
Young children will enjoy the interactions (although I admit to tapping Bruce's shoulder to try to wake him!) but I just need to see the stretched out Canada Geese to make me laugh. The mice announcing they can see up my nose is funny too, although it reminds me that after 3 years of Zoom meetings I shouldn't have to be looking up my colleagues' noses. Figure out the angle, folks.
Ryan T. Higgins, your Bruce books are a favorite in this house.
Kids will be demanding this wonderfully funny book over and over! The mice and geese out-do themselves in driving poor Bruce crazy in most of his adventures but this time readers help.
I love Ryan Higgins illustrations for their lively and hilarious details.
The mice are narrating a hyperactive interactive book featuring Bruce. Oops, maybe they and the reader shouldn't have woken Bruce up. Can the reader help them get Bruce back to sleep?
Oh my goodness. That was HILARIOUS! Best interactive book EVER. The less you know going into this the better. All you need to know is that the mouse trio from Be Quiet and the background of the Bruce series are telling the readers whatever comes to their heads to help Bruce sleep. Add in the motions they suggest, and this is one wild ride of a book that will have readers wide awake and with a serious case of the giggles by the end. A must read for Bruce fans and anyone else who needs a laugh. (Oh, and make sure you start reading on the end papers. There's dialogue even there.)
An interactive book on the order of Herve Tullet's "Press Here", but with a dash of mayhem like "Z is for Moose" and the device of talking to the reader like "Elephant and Piggie". Bruce the grumpy, put-upon bear is a recurring character in Higgins' books, and his facial expressions are perfect for the "abuse" the readers put him through as he attempts to take a nap and the readers "help" him.
I love Ryan T. Higgins' Bruce books! This one is interactive and will be very fun to read with your littles. Thanks to the publisher for handing out this ARC at TLA. Already added this to my fall book order.
Bruce is always a delight, and this book is no exception. Some of the interactive instructions were a tad confusing (why does spinning the book in a circle make Bruce juggle when turning the book to the side makes everything fall?) but kids won't notice or care.
Bruce (and Ryan T. Higgins) is picture book perfection! This takes the familiar grumpy Bruce format, adds in our silly and sometimes clueless mice friends and let’s the reader take the lead. So much fun and lots of laughs!
I honestly love a good interactive book and this IS a GOOD interactive book! Those goofy mice crack me up--great addition to Ryan T. Higgins' "Mother Bruce" series.
