OH MY FUCKING GOD. YOU CANT END A BOOK LIKE THAT. How in the ever loving fuck am i supposed to survive THAT cliffhanger?! And AJ's stalker was finally revealed only for it to be the very LAST person I expected. And the fucking carnage during the last 5%?! Lord, so much happened that I had to go back and read and see if what I thought happened actually happened. OMFG, I'm not going to be able to breathe until the fourth book comes out. What is going to happen to our Harem? What will happen to AJ? Will the guys forgive her? Will she forgive herself? Is everyone going to survive that needs to?! So many questions, so many emotions. My heart is breaking and I feel like I'm going to be physically sick -- thats how powerful that fucking cliffhanger is. I just want to throttle both AJ and C.. I just can't believe that happened. I need everyone to be ok. I need them all to get their long deserved HEA. And I fucking need them not to resent my girl even if I'm freaking for fuck out.

Yo, that's how you end a fucking book. I read these three books all in one day. That's how fucking gone I am for this series. I'm going to be recommending this series until I'm blue in the face!

I'll post a more coherent review once I'm done hyperventilating. K bye.

**I received an ARC of this book and these are my honest opinions!**

Becca was annoying and an unnecessary character. Idek why she's still here. And AJ was just plain stupid towards the end. Like pls use that brain of yours girlie!!! This series started out so well but went downhill real fast in this book. Still curious to see how it ends tho.

Boys of Briar Hall Series (book 3)
REVERSE HAREM
Dark, E2L, HS, Gang romance
FMC: Ava Jade
MMC: Corvus, Rook, Grey
Multiple POV

Let me start by saying WTF with that cliffhanger hanger!!!

This book begins right where the other book left off. And there was so much to take in with this one. The stalker, gang war, and we got to see the guys more in depth with this one.

I can't wait for the next book to see what happens.

Read this on 6/30/22.

Really disappointed in this book. AJ is not a likeable character. She is just not relatable at all. She makes the Crows work so fuckin hard for her forgiveness and her attention. And then "Drake" (the extremely obvious stalker freak) slips right in unnoticed and her ever-bitchy and suspicious demeanor just fucking disappears and she trusts him immediately? Lets him call her Angel? I mean, come the fuck on. So Drake saved Corvus' life by shooting an Ace that would've shot Corv, so what? They were in a gang shootout. Drake was just doing his part to help end it to save his own ass (and AJ's too, because, you know he's a stalker freak).

Anyway... the sex scenes aren't good; they try way too hard to be "dark" and kinky, it's fucking annoying. AJ can't have sex once without being choked? That doesn't even make sense for all of the Crows' characters.

Like, take Rook... Rook likes choking and knife play and blood play and slapping and pinching etc etc.. and they just take it way too far in my opinion. Like the kids are supposed to be 18 right? COME THE FUCK ON! Tone it down a notch. They don't need to be stabbing each other when they have sex.

And then Grey... he can actually connect with his emotions and be a sweet and sensitive young man. He doesn't have any crazy kinks.. but there's almost no connection between them outside of when they have sex. AJ barely kisses any of them ever.

And Corvus. Why must he deliver the very boring and basic "good girl" shit? Like he doesn't actually have that kink. He just tells her that whenever they have sex for no reason. That's not how that kink works!! And on top of that, she begs him to choke her every time. Like obviously the girl has got issues.

This was just not fun to read at all.

No connection for me as a reader to the characters, especially to AJ or Grey. No meaningful connections BETWEEN the characters. And no consistency to character behaviors.

Oh, and so much over-the-top violence that's just glossed over, that just doesn't make sense!!! Like Rook catching a bullet or two - no big deal. Life goes on. Corv gets beaten half to death - give it a day or two and then he's fine. AJ gets injured and bruised again and again and it has no effect on her whatsoever. She tweaks her knee or twists an ankle - she can't run very well on it for 10 minutes, then she's fine. Like What The Fuck is up with this shit. Just make it make sense!!!

The plot twists were very obvious (sorry to anyone who thought the ending was shocking, because like...it wasn't). And the gang stuff got reeeeeally boring. So yeah, it's just not for me.

Super disappointed with this one to be honest.

I read reverse haram for the relationship between the characters. Watching it build. The moments between action when we can see their relationship evolving. And yeah, the spice.

This book was a cluster fuck of action. Too many story lines, the characters were jumping from one action scene to the next for pretty much the entire book. Got to almost 70% with only 1 spice scene. The end spice was fine, glad to see them all together for the first time, but was pretty much too little too late at the point, I had already checked out and was just forcing myself to get through it.

I don’t feel like the relationship really evolved all that much. I know she’s meant to be this badass character, but it’s been 3 fucking books now, she should be able to open up to the guys and not still be so guarded. It’s only a 4 book series so I just feel like they should be further along in their relationship arc by now.

Also, *spoiler* Grey gets shot in the eye and they’re sure he’s dead, rook is banging so hard on his chest that Corvus can hear bones breaking, but then Grey coughs and they’re like ‘omg ok he’s awake he’s gonna be fine’. Yeah because that’s how it works when you get shot in the fucking eye. Definitely 100% going to be fine. If the author wanted him to have an eye patch, having it be cut or something would have been more believable.

Also.. anal sex with no lube and the only prep is just a thumb for a couple seconds and then straight into shoving his huge dong in? With no pain? And so much pleasure that she came? Come on now.

A couple repetitive things that started to annoy me;

Ava Jade going on and on about the darkness inside her. It was the reason she did everything and reacted the way she did to everything. You better not forget it either! But don’t worry, If you do, she’ll be sure to fucking remind you.

I also lost count of the amount of times a characters ‘stomach soured’. Can we get a bit creative and stop using the same phrasing over and over again please? It’s boring to read.

Anyway, I’m not sure if I’ll finish the series. The way this book ended seems like the next one is going to be just as action packed with very little relationship stuff. Bleh.

The cliffy. I am dying for book 4 and I will beg for it.
The last chapters of this book had my heart racing as everything played out and then the dang cliffy.
.
“It doesn’t mean I’m not pissed,” she clarified. “I’m still considering cutting all your balls off and keeping them in a little trophy jar on my nightstand.”

.
Sigh.
I love when the harem all starts to come together. When the last guy drops his hang ups, when the girl finally accepts she can’t choose, when the group knows they’re meant to be together.
But then it all falls apart and omg did I really read what I read?
Yes. I did.
I cannot wait until August. I need to know how it all plays out now.

Dramas, Betrayal, And Ava Jade Continues To Bring A Knife To A Gunfight.

*** Spoilers. Maybe Present***

Book Three opens with the aftermath of Becca Harts betrayal, and just what the betrayal now means to Ava Jade, her boys, The Crows, and Diesel’s Saints.

Ava Jade is on her own and angry, but this situation doesn’t last for long.

Because what would the story BE, if AJ wasn’t back at The Nest with “ her boys”.

So after shipping Rebecca Hart off to Europe, for her own safety, and AJ’s peace of mind, its back to mending bridges, with apologies all round, and AJ finally giving in to the inevitable, getting INKED and becoming a fully fledged member of The Saints.

After that we have Diesel the boys and their newest recruit, ( AJ) strategising a way to take down The Aces. After they didn’t hold up their end of the deal Diesel struck with them.

Causing Diesel to align with The Kings. ( are we clear so far?)

Thus, this leads to a shootout out in front of Sanctum, where, hilariously, despite a few non lethal bullet wounds The Crow Boys and AJ come through relatively unscathed.

(Those Aces are terribly shots..Haha!)

And while THIS is all happening we have the secondary plot revolving around AJ stalker.
HE, and his nefarious underhanded ways probably saved this book from becoming just another
run-of-the- mill RH novel.

YES! ( groan)

We get it!…AJ gets to enjoy sex with all of them.

Keeping all her “guys” S.AT.I.S.F.I.E.D.

AND by satisfied a mean…this girl LOVES her sex dirty, bloody with her hands full, and all,her holes STUFFED!

Yep AJ really extended herself in this book.
She was a shoulder to cry on…then she’d have sex.
A problem solver…then they have sex.

Also there is not much that AJ isn’t good at ( well except for those pesky hand guns. BUT a sniper rifle?…Well! )

She shoots

She fights

She goes toes to toe with scary Diesel, earning her ( possibly) his quiet appreciation)

She takes down multiple beefy gang members with her knife and nimble foot work.

She has strange spidey sense when she knows somethings not right.

She is a Muse ( to Corvus)

When he had trouble writing his song we get -

“Sparrow,” Corvus whispered,…. “I think you were the thing that was missing.”

And then…SHE SINGS!!!

( cue the sex the we all could see coming)

After Corvus and her have their sexcapes, in the closet/ recording studio we get

“Do we have to leave this room?” Corvus asked after a few minutes, and I knew what he really meant because I could stay here forever, too.”

Well!

I’m going to tell Rook and Grey that THEY have now conveniently been forgotten due to the ‘best orgasem AJ has EVER had “

She’s just…GOOD at EVERYTHING!

So, suffice to say, despite the refreshing take on RH genre of the FIRST two books, this one has fallen into the usual patterns and tropes I despise.

The author couldn’t leave this story without indulging in the standard naughty sex room romp with the three guys towards the end, with AJ gagging for it, and a dripping puddle of mush.

So by the end of this book you have to suspend belief a bit as all hell breaks loose between The Aces, Dead Men and The Saints, & Kings.

And you have gun toting eighteen-year-olds in the middle of a blood bath.

( Don’t worry too much…As IF the author would have the balls to kill a major character off..ha!…
OH S****!!z, GREY!!! …
Oh wait? Haha..Phew! For a minute there)

There’s lot of shooting bullet and injury’s spread out amongst The Saints.

Lesser know characters had their demise, ( Vale)

The Crows however, end up with having more holes than a sieve.
( and surviving)

THERES a hint of seriousness about Grey and Corvus condition ( c’mon we know they’ll recover)

And AJ has taken her guilt over what happened, and run away…AGAIN!

Only.
This time she might be in a little…bit …of a pickle..*cough* stalker

On a side note:
Can this author STOP trying to make Becca HAPPEN.

She’s a pain. Total waste of space.
Only in the plot so AJ can have her girlie time.

I’m with Grey when she’s hanging around and he says+

“Why is she here” Haha!

This is book 3 of Boys of Briar Hall series by Elena Lawson. It started with a surprise beginning I wasn't expecting that made my mouth ultimately drop. Then continues where book 2 stopped. This entire book seems to focus on Ava Jades stalker trying to bring The Crows down. Not necessarily pin them against each other but play mind games. Temptations. Outing idenities. Revealing secrets. But it doesn't seem to be working. Wars are starting and they still seem to be strong as ever. I think Ava is coming around to becoming a Saint and becoming one of The Crows. The relationships between her and all 3 guys are growing. My favorite is Rook and Ava's relationship. He understands her darkness while her's understands his. The chemistry between them seems so much stronger. That doesn't mean the chemistry isn't growing with the other's though. It DEFINITELY is. The ending left me with my mouth hanging open and staring blankly at the damn wall. THANK GODDDDDDDD this is a completed series because that cliffhanger HOLY COW. I'm jumping right into the next!

Oh man... I am SO mad at myself right now!
I NEVER read a series that isn't finished because I absolutely hate waiting on books to come out. Either it takes so long that I forget what the first few books were about, or for some reason the author never finishes the series.
Somehow I missed that this was not a complete series, and now I'm left with a MASSIVE cliff hanger and a little over 2 months before the next book is supposed to be published. UGH!

I'm really enjoying this series. It's the first I've read from this author, but I love her writing style. Elena Lawson tells a great story and really brings her characters to life. I can't wait to read the next one and find out what happens!

“Don’t answer now, just think about it. And…and if you decide to go, I’ll do everything in my power to make sure no one comes after you. But I’m telling you now—”

“If you leave, that’s it. You can’t come back. Not ever. I can’t do this twice.”

“If you decide to stay, you know where to find us,” I whispered against her mouth.

Reeling from the aftermath of what felt like an almost-betrayal, she doesn’t trust them - not fully. And honestly, can you blame her? But Rook, with his deep attachment issues, doesn’t want her to leave. He wants to be by her side, no matter what, and he nearly went with her. He’s terrified of losing her. Meanwhile, Corvus is upset. He feels betrayed… but the twist is, she’s the one who should be angry. After everything she went through - the trials, the pain, the tests - to be accepted into their circle, she has every right to be the one walking away. And yet, here they are.

“Don’t fucking touch him.”

“I’m s-sorry,” she said, her watery stare fixed on Grey, who had lifted a hand as though he might be trying to touch her.

They were looking for her stalker in this one, trying to keep her safe while also figuring out who it could be connected to - and they were coming up with absolutely nothing. Just dead ends. Then Grey gets shot, Corvus tells Drake to go find her… and Drake is the stalker. Like, what? There were even hints that she liked Drake. Why now? Why him? The timing, the twist, the buildup- it felt rushed and weirdly placed. I’m still trying to wrap my head around it.

I’m slowly losing interest with the pacing and all the random plot lines. It feels like things are getting scattered, and it’s hard to stay connected when the story keeps pulling in so many different directions.

I give this book an 8/10 ⭐️ It took me a little while to get into this book but once I did I was hooked and couldn’t put it down. In this book we are still trying to figure out who the stalker is and the suspense is very stressful! I love seeing the friendship and protectiveness for Becca from Ava Jade. Im starting to like Corvus a little more. Room is still my favorite! The ending to this book is brutal! The next book can’t come quick enough!

Warning: This is not a standard review, it is not meant to tell others how I felt about the book, it is my personal review/ notes on the book as I read/ random rants (for when I look back in the future to see how I felt about the book) and probably NOT a great way to tell if you want to read the book.
As I can not make reviews private this is my warning:
It’s all slightly random, choppy and most likely confusing // read at your own discretion. Will also contain lotsss of spoilers.
Enjoy my brain 😄

Book 3

Loving the friendship with des. And the mutual respect going on.
Going way too fast. I just feel like this book was dramatic scene after dramatic scene. And so much more time should have been spent on them. Like rook and the drugs. And corv finally sleeping. We could have seen more depth with each of them.
They were all individually good scenes and story lines but all together in one book it was way too much. Like no time for the guys to appreciate her fight? And their group relationship felt so weird and bouncy. It was never really acknowledged if they trusted each other yet or just said fuck it and we’re good.
I don’t get Becca being in this book. When I saw people saying that I was confused but I get it now. She was just there as an extra thing to take care of but was barely acknowledged otherwise.
It felt like the author set her self up with a ton of good storylines and then just tried to put them all in one book.
I hope the last book slows down! But I also hope she can put a cap on some of the things that started in this book.
I just hate how many great scenes got ruined because the story moved on so quickly right after.
Like after they were all finally together we jump right back into another fight. This book honestly gives you whiplash.
I’ve read books where it felt like the author was just abusing the characters 😂 but this book didn’t really feel like that. It’s just felt like too much in one story.
The characters were set up to be strong enough to handle it all, which I appreciate. But otherwise some of it felt unnecessary. So much had already been set up in the first two books. We didn’t need to add all of this.
Now we have to close so many stories. Her dad’s killer. Killing her mom and aunt? Rook and the drugs? Corv and his music? The stalker! The creepy king? The fight with the aces? Dies and Ava’s friendship? Like thing after thing that needs to be settled. And I don’t see a way to settle all of it in one book without it being as jumpy as this one has been. Like every chapter you think you’ll get a slight breath but it just picks right back up.
Could spend more time on the importance of certain things
And no growth with the guys
Also side note. But I HATE when Ava refers to her own body over sexually like “my tight little throat” not something the fmc should be saying about herself in her own head. Just weird way to think.

Ok that was all written before I finished the last two chapters. What the hell happened!! Greys injury was the most shocking to me! I never would have expected such a drastic injury to happen to one of the main characters. Also corv is completely valid for the things he said to Ava. I would be pissed if I was him. That was such a stupid call to shoot Lenny. I thought she was smart by making the move to aim at him but her shooting him was so many levels of stupid. And honestly felt so out of character. Ava is impulsive yes but she would never have put the guys in that situation. If she had more reason to hate Lenny then maybe she would do it for that reason. But otherwise there was no reason for her to shoot him other then being stupid and added drama to the book. So I have to put the fault in the other for that choice. If it was something smaller and she didn’t know what it would cause then u could forgive her. But she 100% knew that shooting him would result is bloodshed.

I have no clue how the guys are going to forgive her after that.
From her POV I get why she is completely heart broken now and it was a mistake on her part. But it was such a big error of judgment that i don’t think it’s really forgivable.
Maybe they can say they don’t hate her. But Idk how they would be able to be with her after that.
The injury’s the boys had weren’t just gang casualties. They were completely her doing.
It felt like the author just needed a reason for Ava to be alone
I’m not completely shocked that it was Derek I started to have that suspicion. But it did throw me off that she was like attracted to him. Which I also don’t get how that needed to be added.
I finished this book incredibly quickly and couldn’t put it down. I loved the characters and I’m going straight to the 4th book. But I can’t look past all of these flaws to give it more than a 3 star review. I love the guys but have lost almost all respect for Ava

Fantastic! The pacing has felt really good and I love seeing them get more into the whole embracing how her darkness matches theirs. Mystery suspense is dialed up, with both answers and new questions.

If you enjoy dark contemporary RH with anti-heroes and E2L angst, broken characters and psycho Hs, plus a strong FMC with her own inner darkness that’s a perfect match for theirs 🖤😈🖤
I have been hooked on this series 🖤 really enjoying it, plus told in Multi-POV which I love.

Book 3 picks up right where the last book, Wicked Trials, left off. Ava Jade continues to show her skills, endurance and perseverance in action, even with the odds stacked against her, as well as fighting her resistance to trusting the guys. The growth progression for the characters has been great, seeing them letting down their walls with moments of raw honesty and connection that I loved.

Corvus, Grey, and Rook totally enthralled me in Book 1 and I have loved seeing a bit of growth with each of them over each book. There is still more that I'd like learn about the guys. I know that they are fiercely protective of those they choose as family, and they are including AJ in that, even while she fights them. I just want to go deeper.

This is book 3 in a continuing series of planned 4 books. There is a cliffhanger, but IMO it's completely manageable. It left me eager for the next book, which I've already pre-ordered

Cursed words and crass commentary to follow but no spoilers…..

… you’re warned.

Shhhittttttt!!! Effen efff WTF!! Gahhhh!!! I took a break between books because it was getting heavy, but since goodreads only mentioned 3 books, I figured the third would be the end…. That’s a BIG HARD FAT NO!! 😩

I feel like I need a new goodreads tag for an “eff you from the author cliffhanger” to warn myself if/when I re-read this… because if I knew I had to wait another two months for the next book, I wouldn’t have finished this one just yet!

The last ~5% of the book… What a kick to the gut!!! I just…. I….. I….. ?

I have a bunch of crass jokes in my head mentioning this being the book version of edging… or me being aggravated enough to hope the author has an animal that leaves poop where it’s not supposed to be because it’s only fair…. But…. Mannnn……

*deep breath* I guess I must wait until August. 🥺

The build up the past 95% of the book was good and I enjoyed it…. But like the nickname “ghost”, the last bit kinda took a lot out of me to elaborate further than this. Beyond the ending, the rest of the book held my attention with the suspense the whole time while not getting too far into lulls where it was deemed boring to me. I have to mention I have ADD, so any overwhelming inner dialogue and “every day” narrative grinds on my nerves with action/thriller/romance types of novels… so IMHO, it’s quite a feat! There were good twists and evolutions with characters and being able to dig deeper with it not being a blatant “here’s my back story” monologue. It was well done! Especially this late in a series! It was unique and thoughtful to keep you on your toes as a reader. I truly can’t wait to read the last book!

I. Did. Not. Expected. That!
I am shaken. What a cliffhanger. What a ride!

Elena Lawson did it again. In each book, I am getting more in love with these characters.

In this book, we learn more about these loveably bad characters. My poor baby Grey. Dark Prince Rook and mostly Corvus. We learn his history in this book. We see Diesel's relationship with her sons and Ava Jade. Their gangly relationship adds a strange family sense to the book. I love reading those scenes. He began to see how broken Ava Jade was, just like his sons. This makes me see how fiercely their loyalties are and make me like Diesel. That was a hard thing to do especially after the Trial scene but Elena did it. She made me like Diesel :)

Ava Jade is so broken but she fits perfectly with them

We see Corvus's several sides in this book, the sad, the bad, and in the end..it made me mad! (this is the world's saddest poem, you're welcome :) ). They are so broken but when they are together there is an understanding. Grey likes to give her emotional support, Corvus lets her express herself. But Rook, we saw first and second book how deep his observing skills are but in this book. They are exceptional. It adds more depth to the character. But Grey...I am a little mad about it. I also don't want to spoil anything. I just hope we don't lose his innocent love.

After reading the bonus scene from the second book. I was so curious about Unknown. I was so excited. But, I just did not see coming. I was so occupied with other questions about the storyline. I did not see that coming! I was hoping...something else.

If you haven't read the first two books. You should, it is a great read. The Interesting characters and suspense are real!

Twisted Games delivered another binge-worthy addition to the Boys of Briar Hall series. I could not put this book down. Then that wallop of a cliffhanger hits you hard! Thank goodness it is a completed series, so you can binge-read the entire way through.

Ada Jade survived the trials to become a Saint, but the trust is gone. It must be mended on both sides between her and the Crows. Her stalker survived his fall from her window and is even more determined to acquire what he sees as his. He goes after the Crows, revealing their secrets and exploiting weaknesses to break the bonds that tie them to Ada Jade.

I liked that AJ did not immediately jump back into a relationship with the boys after her betrayal. While they let off some physical tension, she made it clear that it did not mean they had been completely forgiven.

There are more steamy scenes in this book but do not expect it to be an all-out f*ckfest. The book is still primarily plot-driven, with the s3x scenes appropriately added. There is one deliciously delightful scene toward the end that is smoking hot!

I cannot wait for the final book! The end of this one had the stalker unmasked, and we were left at the toughest cliffhanger of the series yet.

Rating: 3/5 🌟
Spice: 3.5/5 🌶️
Characters: Ava Jade, Corvus, Rook, and Grey

I like dark romance. I can extend reality enough to look over most of the OTT unrealistic stuff that goes on. But this one has too many moments of glaring inconsistencies. The bad guy is obvious (at least it was to me). And there are so many parts where there is a ton of violence and our MC's get shot/injured only for them to walk away like it's a flesh wound. With how heavily this plot revolves around the violence it was too much too often and too obvious to overlook. It was distracting and took my focus away from the relationship(s) and overall plot.

I have been in love with this series since book one so I was more then eager to get my hands on this new one. The prologue alone is enough to grab your attention but then Ava Jade just has to steal the show as she tries to figure what is going on before it is too late. The guys have some sucking up to do but they are so mot good at it considering how this ends. Full of surprise twists, plenty of action, intrigue, and lots of steam that will keep you hooked from page one all the way to the end. I need the next book like yesterday!!! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.

Crazy, action packed, non stop roller coaster filled with emotions, secrets and enemies from every direction. I cannot believe all that unfolded in this books and all that is still yet to come. I absolutely love Ava Jade and how strong she is but add in the Saints and they are a team that cannot be match - as long as they can get past their issues stopping themselves. Warped Minds is going to be insane and I can’t wait!

Holy man! What a roller coaster! Ava Jade is crazy tough! She can hold her own. And just when things are going right things go really wrong! That ending was crazy! I did not see that coming! Can’t wait for the final book in this series!

Unpredictable

I did not see that ending coming. I thought I knew who the stalker was but I was completely wrong. That doesn’t happen often.

This series is everything right now. I’ve binged this within days and now I only have 1 book left.

This is a must read

Dam! 😳

That was an awesome book. We find out the stalker we get tons of action. Poor Gray though an Rook an Corvus. Ava Jade was a bad ass but she should’ve listened to Corvus an maybe things would’ve been different. Let’s see what’s in store for the final book can’t wait!
