The Heir to the House of Prince #1

The Heir to the House of Prince

Rate this book
“So you're adopted? “

"Supposedly."

"So your Dad ... he's not ...?"

"Seems like it."

"Huh." Theo stares at Harry with those grey eyes that look silver in the cauldron smoke between them. "But you're the heir to this ... House of Prince, so he's probably -"

"Yes. Probably." Harry looks at Theo sharply. "You don't know who he is, do you?"

"No." Theo looks back just as sharply. "If I did, I would tell you. You know I would."

"I do."

Something loosens inside Harry's chest. Something that has been tightening ever since Cedric died. He may not have his friends, or Sirius, or even know who he fucking is anymore, but he has this. At least he has Theo.

Summer of 4th year and Harry's all alone, dealing with his grief and the sudden revelation that James Potter is not his father. Support comes in a strange form. The form of Theo Nott, son of a death Eater. A strange friend who says he'll help him find his true father, whoever this Lord Prince might be.

This 650k word (6-8 books) Harry Potter x Theo Nott fanfic took over my entire life and cured me from a horrific slump, and I said “thank you, I’ll love you forever”.

THE PREMISE: Harry Potter has strange ancient powers and finds a surprise ally in Theo Nott, a nerdy Slytherin with Viking heritage and a knife.

TROPES & VIBES:
- Ships I didn’t know I needed
- Hurt x comfort
- Theo Nott is everything
- *Burn the world for you* ❤️‍🔥
- Accidental soul bonds
- THE BEST BANTER
- Incredible writing
- “You’re mine” 😏😏😏
- Snape and Lupin as Daddies
- *Will make you love Snape*
- *Will make you hate Dumbledore*
- Abuse and trauma

5⭐️ No 🌶️ (YA)

A really great story, but there are some serious and less serious downsides which justify a major downgrading. The poetry *shudder…*. The large amounts of drama. Some of the A/Ns, including lots of self-promo for a while, and the overhyping of this Bane person who seems to not have been an OC (maybe a mild crossover?) and feels included only for the sake of including him. The SJWing, including use of the German word for male masturbation as word for witches and wizards. Heck, this is barely above 3 stars…

The story also seems to alternate between British English and spelling mistake-riddled oversea barbarian dialect… and I have a hunch that the latter was introduced by the betareaders…

Ending is very open. A sequel is promised for mid-2022… let’s wait and see. This is the thing holding my mood high right now.

Dnfing at chapter 56. Might continue at some point but...

Honestly this fic isn't tagged correctly. It really should be also tagged as Shadowhunters/The Mortal Instruments fandom since parabatai bonds are such a driving plot point and Magnus Bane is featured as a character not just a throwaway reference.

Really love Harry/Theodore and the whole heirship thing is really interesting but (it's kind of collapsing under it's own weight) and I just can't anymore. Also Sirius is really ooc and I had to actually look up exactly what an obscurial is.

Back on the incorrectly tagged bullshit

Ye anyway I'm looking at some Hinny one shots and maybe I'll be able to read a couple real books this month

I'm going to be honest, I'm not an excellent judge of what's good writing and what's not, so I don't recommend you take anything I say regarding the writing too seriously.
I found it to be very enjoyable! The humor was wonderful; I loved Kreacher and his development with Harry. Severus was incredibly infuriating in the first half. He had me crying, begging him to get his shit together, but I can't be that mad because it was true to his character. Obviously it would be even worse if he suddenly began loving the kid he'd been tormenting for the past few years out of nowhere just for the purposes of the fic, so it's tolerable. I appreciate the way the author depicted grief and trauma. There was a lot of drama but that's how I like my fics so I was completely fine it with it. Others may not, though.
The only reason I'm not giving this 5 stars is because came out of left field and I still have absolutely no clue how I feel about it.

I bow down to Narcissa Malfoy. I would do anything for that woman.
Some of my favorite parts:
-Kreacher's addiction to sweets

-Severus and Narcissa's relationship
-Prince Family Lore
-Theo & Hermione
-Sahara.
-Infirmary chapters at the end <333 There're pages upon pages highlighted there.

-The Goblin King

I have gone back to this book time and time again and I’m so hooked on it that I haven’t been able to finish the second book or even get to the third because I am so in love with the first.

I just love all in this History. Theo is so soft. Harry and Sev deserve better. When Harry nearly died I was just crying so hard.

Here I hate Sirius for all the things he does to Harry and Remus. He just to obsessed with James.

Sirius had his redemption but already hate him when his redemption come. The absolute torture in the LAST 5 CAPS, I can't with how anxious were like everyone, I suffer with Theo and Sev when Harry was kidnapped

4 stars. This fic is doing the absolute most but I’m here for it. It had me enraptured every page and I couldn’t put it down. The author made really creative choices in the ways she modified cannon and did a fantastic job with creating well rounded characters. I do worry that in the next installment I’ll find the pacing and constant new abilities Harry develops repetitive and overdone but we shall see.

It sometimes felt too long to read but also very addictive at the same time idk how to really explain it but the fact that it's actually 3:40am and i'm working today shows how I couldn't stop myself until I finished this first part. It was a WILD ride but I'm so glad I can finally appreciate Snape's character now. So many things to comment on but I'll just say: thank you for the emotions.

This is one of favorite books of all time! The characters are so raw and real, you can clearly see and feel their pain. This book broke my heart then knit it together again. As someone who read this in an extremely hard time, I highly recommend it!

Long books is my middle name. It has been my trip book (i went to Germany!) for the past two weeks and it features a good amount of lore that i was forced to swallow, so buckle up, this is going to be a long conversation.

From the very beginning of this story we see harry losing faith in the adults that were supposed to protect him and that diminished his expectations largely for the better part in this book. We see him making his own decisions, dissolve the trust he formely had in the adults, fight his own battles, and finally learning how to say “no” (which, i truly admire, having struggled with this myself, so I’m secretly very proud of him). Thus, during this, we witness the mind of a teenager so deeply traumatised and coerced to follow the laws the elders imposed. What we also see, however, is the struggling minds of adults in their 30s (and above) who may know the world better, but are still struggling with morals and the muddled system that they follow that clearly show that sometimes adults really do not know better.

It was very interesting because I could see and understand the perspective of both parties and it just proves that they are only human and people are in shades of grey. People see bad stuff and don’t act on it. People make bad mistakes under pressure. People make worse mistakes while conscious. I was full of understanding of both minds which proved to be pretty challenging and cool. This book really touched the topic of choices and made a stew of morals out of it for Harry’s sake and honestly? I enjoyed that quite a lot.

I know this is a Theo/Harry (I do not know their ship name, this is frankly the first story Ive read with them) fic, and they’re two lovely bonded souls whose bond nobody would understand, what they have is sacred and mystical and the mutual understanding is astounding. It is precious. However, I saw this book as a story about a son and his Sire. A lord and his heir. So, I will put accent on that, for it captivated me the most.

So yes, Severus Snape, father of Harrison James Charlus Potter Black Slytherin Prince Ward (fucking hell, if that aint a tongue twister). It is a story of redemption, it’s slow and churning and i do love the magical side of it because the Princes have a power so dark and murky with the help of which they connect so well even if not all parties wish to. It is not perfect, and their past will never allow them to be as they could have been, which makes things so much better. Whilst silent, their bond is the most powerful and delicate at the same time. It is a relationship of secrets and trust that very carefully and slowly sows itself between them. I cannot wait to see more of them. I cannot wait to see them fight.

As for my expectations for the next book, if either Sahara or Kreacher the elf dies, I will bring hell on earth until there is nothing left but ash.

Long (648.5K words!) and heavy, but really good: rich and powerful, emotional and creative, with unexpected twists and a hard-won hopeful (albeit bittersweet) ending. I debated whether to include the Romance shelving, since it's far from the only thread in Harry's complicated life, and the connections between the adults are messy to put it mildly. Be sure to heed the content warnings — including suicidal thoughts, child abuse (worse than canon), torture, and major character death, though I won't spoil the plot with who or how — but if you can handle the material, it's well worth reading.

N.b., if you're looking primarily for good!Snape, be aware that he stays pretty demned unsympathetic for quite a length, in his bitter denial that Harry could be anything but how he's pre-judged him. Sirius is gravely unstable, and rather a wrecking ball in the lives he touches — with an intriguing not-just-Azkaban explanation-not-excuse.

Oh, there is one crossover secondary (or tertiary) character, Magnus Bane, but it's set pre-series for him, with much non-canon backstory, so you can just read him as an original character if you want.

I'm debating right now whether to continue into the equally intense The Heir to the House of Prince Part 2 - The rise of the Black Prince (288.8K words), or give myself a break with something lighter in between. The Heir to the House of Prince Part 3 - The Last Necromancer is currently (10/3/2024) at 369K words and not yet complete, so I WON'T be reading that one yet; I NEED the hopeful ending for works like these.

This has made me cry, laugh, blush, giggle, I am enamored truly. I haven’t been obsessed with a story in a while and this book reminded me why I read. Additionally it seems to be a very canon compliant version of Harry which I don’t usually see, it’s just based in different circumstances. He is a lovely character. Starting the second one rn

This was amazing. The story was so unique whilst keeping the original HP things you like but also somehow making everything new and different. Idk. It was heartbreaking and dark but so worth it. I need to take a break because it was looooong but I’m excited for part two! And can’t wait to see how Harry and Severus relationship grows!
