A unique fairy tale retelling that has it all!

I'm pretty picky when it comes to this genre, but I absolutely loved this one. Grimm was intruiguing from the very beginning, and I just knew the plot was going to be filled with all sorts of fun twists. I wasn't disappointed! White takes you on a magical adventure with charming princes, former evil queens, and mystical spells that have you rooting for the main characters all the way. This HEA has all the feels. Highly recommend

Its is a story with multiple fairy tales cleverly woven together. The characters are compelling and the story is so heart warming, it really was a joy to read. I would recommend this book to anyone who loves action, good characters, and a solid love story.

This wonderful novel is a twist between many different fairy tales that reads as effortlessly original. This is a more adult version of fairy tales, but remains clean. It just includes the darker side of fairy tales along with the bright side.

The writing of this novel is absolutely stunning and the characters are so easy to fall in love with. They're not super deep characters but White manages to keep you rooting for them until the end anyway.

The action is paced well so that you are engaged with the story for the duration of the book. There are a few twists and turns that keep things original while still being familiar.

If you like fairy tales at all, this is the book for you.

In J.R. White's young adult adaptation, Grimm is a teenage girl on the threshold of adulthood carrying a heavy burden as only a Grimm can. Many of the Brother's Grimm stories, and even some classic favorites, are featured in Grimm's evolution from girl longing to fight into a warrior. A definite read for fans of fairytales.

I love fairytales, but I really love the more adult versions. This book is a mashup of a ton of fairytales woven together. It's cohesive and flows nicely. Dark curses affect far more than just the person cursed, they affect entire bloodlines--sometimes. You get to see the darker side of curses, not just the happily ever after.
I loved this story. It's compelling, with a few twists and turns, that kept me intrigued. I didn't become super invested in the characters, but since this is a standalone and not a series, it works that way! The characters are familiar yet unique to the tale and the author's vision.
If you enjoy fairytales, even a smidge, you will love this tale! You will NOT be disappointed!

I loved this book. Fun twists and unique combination of details from different fairytales. I really couldn’t put it down as an ebook - which I’m not a fan of - so I will be buying this book in book form so I can read it again in my preferred method.

"Grimm: Daughter of a Curse" by J. R. White was such an amazing read that I could not put down the book. I started reading it as a side book because sometimes retellings are not my favorite, but this one was very well done. The detail in the book made me realize how much I LOVE a good retelling. I wanted to read more about the characters once the book was over. That is how much I enjoyed the story.

The world building in the book was phenomenal. I was able to picture what it was like for Grimm and how the forest was around her as well as all the other locations she was at. I could vividly picture the places as if I was there myself and this is just a major compliment to White because of how well the building of the story was done. I love when I can put a picture to the book I am reading. That is what makes me get more involved with it. I truly love this and really want to read more books by this author because of it.

The characters in the story were very well written. They made me feel once again like I was in the book. I could actually picture conversations happening and events happening. I was able to put Grimm's perspective into my mind and I could relate to what she was going through with her love. It was interesting to see how things would unfold with each of the characters involved in the story. This made me want to keep reading.

I definitely rate this book a 5/5 star. I enjoyed how well it was written and how much detail was put into it. This is a book that can be read at a younger age, but it is really good for adults who love retellings as well. I highly recommend reading this book if you have the chance.

I received and ARC for an honest review.

Excellent fairy tale retelling

Very cleverly written with the weaving in and out of so many of the fairy tales. I even cried! Great book!!!

I'm always a fan of fairy tail retellings, and this one was very unique! I love the homages to Sleeping Beauty and Snow White especially. What really got me was the haunting image of an entire castle full of people never waking up from the sleeping spell shared with Rosalind and decaying to their skeletons over time is very powerful.

I do think that there are some things that could have used better clarification, like the aspects of the curse eventually becoming a little confusing. Some of the age things were also a little weird if you think about it for too long. I think my main issue (and I don't know if it was purely out of genuine ignorance or not) was with how the Romani slur g*psy was used as the name for a dark-skinned, faintly monstrous non-human species. It's definitely something that could be better educated on for next time.

Other than all of this, the story came together decently.

Imaginative, interesting group of fairy tales woven into one book and one story.

It is a story of redemption. The 13th fairy who sees her wrongs and tries to redeem herself, after losing her only daughter.

Humans forced to be pawns in a fairy game and clean up their messes.

It is a good book. It has everything a fairytale should have, Ogre’s, dwarfs, fairies, queens, kings, curses, dances, wolves, true loves kisses, dragons, an army of the undead and witches.

Beauty, isn’t who you think she is. Her ugly twisted heart turned her into a witch. Just like in every fairytale, all’s well that ends well and the way you want it too. Yes, the sleeping Beauty gets her Prince and a daughter’s kiss awakens her mother.

I loved this. It was so much fun and stinking cute.

I’m obsessed with all of the intertwined fairy tales spun into this story.

Grimm was a fantastic character, and I connected with her right off the bat. Going on her journey with her, discovering her roots, and trying to save herself from the curse was everything I could have asked for.
