Navy SEAL.

Mercenary.

Ghost.

Joining the military wasn't a choice, it was survival. It was also the last place they would think to look for me. Hiding in plain sight, I lived in the shadow of deployments… until an off-the-books mission put me in the crosshairs of my past.

My cover blown, I walked away from the SEALs and sought refuge at the one place where I'd be more invisible than on the Teams—Alpha Elite Security. As a Black Ops government contractor, AES was the world's leading provider of security solutions. High stakes, higher price tag, and complete anonymity. Trained to kill long before the Navy put a gun in my hand, I fit right in.

Legally aiming my rifle, taking any AES assignment that guaranteed action, I lived to fight. But then I made a mistake. One single misstep and I was face to face with the only woman who could kill me faster than a bullet.

Code name: Echo.

Mission: Evade.

I feel like I need to review 2 things separately with this book, the story and plot per se, and the choices of, how can I say... names for the characters.

The former one, yeah it's ok, enjoyable, I have not so much complaints or anything bad to say about it.
The latter one, OH BOI, that's another can of worms entirely LMAO ([image error] ) lemme get the evidence right here:

— Echo's real name is Erico, yeah that's bullshit name. Halfway the book I understoon it was the l i t e r a l translation of Eric, yeah I'm a little slow what you gonna do about it [image error].
That name is not used in Italy, you either see Enrico or nothing.

Sancia Sophafina Vincenzo Santoro, I can't even describe this. Sancia is a Spanish name, the second one is pure high fantasy, and I guess I could let it slide the 2 surnames. It's acceptable.

— I really do not want to hyper analyze all the single names used in this book bc they're all bullshit, and that's bc I get you want to portray the "Sicilian reality" where there's the Mafia, Cosa Nostra and shit like that. I could make an essay about the social reality, the dynamics and how this is viewed by society.
There's 3 families, that rule with iron fists society in this region, Sicily, tipically, they're VERY traditional families, very attached to religion, their beliefs, their moral code.
You cannot fucking name someone of this family Caio, this is a typical Roman name, that's literally a no from someone who's even a little bit familiar with the italian culture.

— and generally the use of random italians words here and there, I'd say this is a bad Godfather influence, and really a sign of bad taste. As an Italian, I can genuinely say I felt offended.
Goddamnit just hire or fucking talk with someone local that can proof-read this before making it public omg, I'll even do it for free.

As you can see I was very triggered by this. I'm not even sorry for the rant.
I am sorry if I made a few typos here and there but I'm fuming whenever I read nonsense.

About the plot, I have one very small ick that I need to scratch, I did not liked the way the 9 years were basically dismissed and all the abuse and neglect were dismissed. There was here and there some sort of input and start of conversation that could have lead to address it but again, it was clipped before it could start.

And lastly, I want to do a shot out for the best brother/brother-in-law that was totally misunderstood, Caio 🖤 (ily but I hate ur name) the best little brother, raised by the other 3 that it's a miracle how this turned out.
He was the careless and free spirit, innocent and libertine wanna-be F1 driver, addicted to adrenaline and women.
But he knew his new sister in law was lonely and he just wanted to confort her in the only way that seemed possible:
A race car driver who invaded my small servant’s kitchen every night to critique my cooking as I made my own dinners because I was not allowed in the main kitchen.

Letting her know she was not alone:
“She [the cook] does not speak to me.” None of the staff did. I had heard Ademaro tell them not to.
Crossing his arms, he leaned against the counter. “That’s probably a good thing.”
“Why?” Using a fork, wishing I had a better utensil, I gently turned over the pieces of eggplant in the pan.
“She’s mean.”
This time, I had not burned the underside. “Is anyone here nice?”
“I am.”

And at the end of it he got the shit beaten out of him and had to sacrifice his passion and his only way out of the life he did not even want and forced to step up, all this to right the fucks up of his brothers.
I am not an expert, but in my humble opinion Caio deserves a fucking monument.

Peace out ✌️

Some comments may be spoilers so read at your own risk - - Thought this was just okay. I am a fan and have been for years. I have read this author’s entire library more than once. I thought this book was good but just not great. I know, I’m quite sure I’m the only one but, I felt there were loop holes. Why didn’t Echo know Scancia never made it to his safe house … for 9 years!? Really. Everything at the safe house including the security systems turned on/off by his phone - shouldn't he have known quite easily she didn’t make it. What happened to the pilot that was supposed to take her and why didn’t he know that she never touched the fortune he left her, surely with the backgrounds and abilities all the guys have he could have found out and this guy’s character wouldn’t have left it up to chance. And, was he actually expecting her to live there in the winter? How about supplies, she couldn’t even make it up to the cabin on her own - how would she have survived - just left there for years apparently -I just didn’t get it. Why didn’t she ever tell him about the rape? After he accused her of everything under the sun, you would think she would have lead with that or it would have been a topic of conversation somewhere down the line. They never had a fact for fact, proper convo after everything? I didn’t understand that, didn’t ring true to me. A few edits found, not expected for this author as she is known for being meticulous but hopefully updated in the future. As well, I’m sorry but I hate flash backs and flash forwards or Part 1 and Part 2. When I buy a book I want to read ‘that’ story I don’t want to have to skim through 22 chapters to finally get to the current story - I get it, some background is necessary but do we have to read 22 chapters - 150 pages! before we get to start the story? I hated that 🥵

Echo was everything I was hoping for and more. He is the kind of book boyfriend that sits with you for a long time. One you find yourself thinking of constantly and wishing you could read it all over again for the first time. It seems like with every book in this series I become more and more in awe of Mrs. Bartel. AES is a big world with lots of players and as you get to the bottom of each of these guys stories and hearts you just fall more and more into it. I wish we could have a whole alphabet for this series. Then spin offs. I love AES.
We get cameos from some others, some of my favorites, and we finally get to learn Echos name. Ps- it’s good. So fitting.
I knew from the first time he showed up that he was going to kill me in ways that not many book boyfriends can. And he did. Boy he did. Echo is the kind of alpha that sort of takes you by surprise. He’s got secrets. He’s got a multitude of metaphorical skeletons in his closet. Much like all these other men did, but Echo is very different from all the others like him.
I can’t say too much without spoiling it, so just prepare yourself going in. Buckle that seatbelt tight and hold on because it’s a wild ride. And Mrs. Bartel as always does not disappoint.
I can’t wait for Whiskey.

Another Fantastic Book from Sybil Bartel

Echo is the sixth book in the Alpha Elite Security series and this book is everything that you expect from this series. I love how Sybil includes character background where needed for the storyline without bogging down the story progression. Both the MM character and the MF character are well developed and the storyline is believable. These characters are human with human failings and they make human mistakes. This makes the end of the story more believable. This is a book that can be read as a stand- alone, but I would highly recommend that the you read the first five books, because you get necessary context about the main character prior to diving into his story. Also, Sybil Bartel has mastered the use of spicy intimate scenes without them taking away for the main storyline, they are a natural progression instead of being used as a writing crutch to distract the reader from story or character development deficiencies.

If you enjoy a great story and character development with your hot romantic action with your alpha heroes, then this book and writer is for you.

I rarely feel the need to go back and reread a book that I just finished but that’s what I’m experiencing now with Echo.
He’s nothing but full on alpha , ott protective hero that will do anything and everything to keep the ones he loved safe.
This story is so different than what I’m used to by the author and all in a great way.
It wasn’t the time and place for them to start a relationship especially after the way everything went down. The past is always resurfacing and I loved the direction their suspenseful story took.
More that once I gasped out loud because I wasn’t expecting to find that hidden egg so soon. And I’m happy that my book husband is alive and unchanged.

If you’re looking for a full on suspenseful story with romantic elements and cool characters, look no further than this one.

Dnf 30%?

Ditched this when I read that the h was r@ped by H’s bro and I think he didn’t know that? What boggled me was she went to the bro when the H put her in the pilot’s hand to ensure her safety and before that she was assaulted by the other bro and she knew that the men with his last name was dangerous, like gurllll… I know you’re sheltered and all but I refuse to believe you’re that stupid? Anyway I don’t want to blame the victim of SA but this is beyond stupid.

- Main Couple: Echo (aka Erico) / Sancia
- POVs Included: Dual POVs (Erico, Sancia)
- Book Playlist (The Alpha Elite Book Series Playlist)

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
SUMMARY: (SPOILER WARNING)

Before Echo was Echo, he was Erico Mantovani -- Enforcer for the Mantovani Cosa Nostra in Sicily. And nine years ago he made the decision to save a young woman from the hands of his abusive brother (who was the Don). Thinking her safe where he sent her to disappear, he also disappeared and changed his identity.

Nine years later the woman he saved has stumbled back into his life in trouble. And she hasn't been where she was supposed to be. She's mixed up in a lot of trouble and he's pissed that she didn't trust him and follow the plan he gave her.

-----------------------------------
-----------------------------------
REVIEW:

This was probably my favorite from the series so far. Not my favorite Sybil Bartel book by far, but definitely better than the previous books in the series.

The biggest difference for me was Echo is dominant but also passionate. Some of the past heroes in this series have been too cold and robotic sounding for me. I like dominant, but not cold.

Echo was great though. He's honestly more on par with classic Sybil Bartel heroes and I really liked everything about him.

In the beginning of the book I was actually really liking Sancia and glad to see she wasn't a dumbo like most of the FMC's in this series.

Then...instead of going with the person Echo sent her with to be safe, she went back to her house! How dumb. C'mon seriously? No one would be that stupid.

Then later she runs out of a cabin in the middle of a blizzard and falls and gets hurt. Because she didn't like how the cabin looked. Wow. And speaking of the cabin, what was the point of even going to this first safe house in Montana for like a couple hours? That made no sense.

I thought I was going to like her better than I usually like Sybil's FMC's at first. I felt bad for her for being kept in the dark so much. And at first she seemed to make smart choices. But, yeah. She was still pretty dumb. I wasn't as annoyed with her as some of the FMC's in this series, but I still didn't really like her.

But I still enjoyed this one. The first half of the book was particularly gripping in my opinion and I was happy to see that.

Overall the series seems to be getting better. Still not my favorite Sybil Bartel series, but definitely improving.

Another ticket, another ride, another WINNER!

OH MY E!
Echo is the sixth installment in the Alpha Elite Series and can be read as a standalone. As everything Sybil writes, you never know what to expect and this book is no different.

What I feel most excited every time I start anither Sybil's tale is what did she conconcted this time. Unpredictable? Unexpected? No way? Check. Check. Check.

Echo and his woman' story was another level of these characteristics and a brand of special.
Their background, how they met, how they connected even apart, their circumstances, the life, what could have been, what was instead and everything in between. Their fate was meant for them to be, at least, one more time.
So much conflict, internal and external, such good and bad intentions, so much will to be free of it all or the misunderstanding of what was that life really about for someone protected, hidden and uninstructed, a target in the brim of energence, one tgat doesn't even realized that was a target at all. Connection, disconnection and sacrifice for a very new connection blurred by events, facts and agendas, but akways in the name protection and undiluted love.

This book is about revelations and how to play the game, addressing all the curves and angles, time and space and the precarious balance between utmost safety and utmost exposure.

I absolutely loved this book as I did all its previous companions, but Echo was Echo, trigger-happy, grumpy and more cagey that other AES member.

It was good.....so good!!!

My poor heart, what a ride.
This book has kept me up all night - I kept saying one more page, just one more…. Yup until the epilogue 😜.
What we have here is story very well build, with interesting plot, plenty of action and angst.
What I love about it most are the H and h interactions- swoon worthy in my opinion. At some point my hands has gotten sweaty due to tension and stress pouring out from pages.
Echo , what can I say about him ?
I think despite the past and present activities, he made me love him more with every page turned , honor and code above all else , that’s my thing. Alpha male in his prime , with a lot to him then meets the eye, nothing is simple and straightforward in here . He will have you by your heart straight away, believe me I have tried to not get sucked in and yet, here I am , in love 😍.
I love the fact that we get to “see” others from AES, meeting the family again and obviously learning His name .
Relations between main characters - absolutely incredible, gripping my heart in the best of ways .I don’t think that is my last time with Echo, I’m sure that book is going to my re read pile. I think I have my book boyfriend.😏
I would like to give my thanks to the author for giving me the chance to meet Him in advance and to be a part of this adventure and Echo’s journey.
Well written , interesting and engaging . I think I’m going back to other boys from AES while waiting for Whiskey .

Where do I even start?!?!
This book kept me up all ALL NIGHT, and then I woke up the next morning and immediately started re-reading it.
To quote Zulu, Echo is the "baddest motherf****r on your team" and OMG he definitely is.
He's dominant, he's SO alpha, and he's downright lethal. But he's also SO protective and willing to do everything to keep his woman safe.
We get to see Echo's past in this book and how it shaped him into who he is today. This book had all the features of the AES series that I love: there was action, suspense, swoons, so much angst, and, of course, SPICE. Which was top tier!!! Echo took alpha to a whole 'nother level in the bedroom OMG❤️‍🔥.
Sybil's books are wonderfully woven. Echo and Sancia are perfect for each other, but their voices are very different. I loved the dual POV chapters, and the writing was phenomenal. Sancia sees the world through an artist's eyes, and her chapters were so beautifully vivid.

I'm still recovering from reading this book, and I'll probably read it many times while I anxiously await Whiskey. Speaking of pretty boy Whiskey, there were so many other AES characters in this book, and also characters from Sybil's other books. Echo is stubborn, and for many years he was a lone wolf, but for his woman, he will use all of his resources to keep her safe. Including accepting help from Twin😂

5/5 Stars and I would give it more if I could. ECHO was EVERYTHING!!❤️❤️

First off, what the description feels to mention at any time is that this is a mafia romance, and not a very good one either. In fact, the entire description is not at all indicative of the plot of the book.

The beginning of the book was fine, that happened nine years earlier.

But once we get into the contemporary part of the story, that’s when it all falls apart. Nothing is explained reasonably. Honor never gets a chance to say how and why she wound up in the office where she wound up. Never gave her a chance to explain anything, because he was too busy going who did you have sex with? Who did you have sex with? Who did you have sex with? And being really stupid with the toxic masculinity.

Also, there were pages upon pages upon pages on pages of internal dialogue on both sides, one short conversation, then pages of internal dialogue. Then another short conversation, then more pages of internal dialogue. Honestly, it got really tiresome and boring. Not to mention, annoying. It was like, geez, get over it and say something!

And then suddenly, at the end, the brother takes over as Don, despite the fact that he has neither training, experience, nor the connections, but suddenly he’s the Don, and all the other Cosa Nostra families accepted this, and the hero (sic) And heroine get to live happily ever after.

I call BS.

He is an Alpha Elite, he is lethal aka as the Enforcer in the Mantovani Famiglia of Palermo, Sicily. Sancia became her father's only child when her mother and brother were killed. Considering her father was a banker for the Mafia she was kept isolated most of her life. Loved this story. I especially loved the Mafia story plot. Young naive, creative and beautiful, that is who Sancia Santoro was. Sancia and Erico met when Don Giancarlo went to meet with Sancia 's father right before her 18th birthday. She knew her father was dying but there were so many lies and secrets which turned into betrayals that she found out right before his death. Echo hated his brothers especially Giancarlo who was the Don of the family. After rescuing Sancia from a fate with his brother and giving her a way to leave Sicily and for him to leave the family because he killed his brother and his consigliere and left the country. Nine years later things blow up in both their faces when they are reunited in a twist of fate, his other brother was killed along with his consigliere because he had taken over after his brother died. As I said it was a story with a lot of lies, betrayal and secrets.

Sybil once again sending my poor little heart through a tale spin... but as always, provided with a delicious alpha book boyfriend

GOD, HOW DO I NOT GIVE SPOILERS ahhhh Definitely one of my favourite reads from the AES series. Echo Echo Echo like your name, i will probably repeat this book multiple times.

This story hooked, lined and sinkered me right from the beginning with all the drama and suspense my god! I am absolutely OBSESSED that we revisit some old characters and learn more about the team, the comradery and love between the members tug at my heartstrings and my baby Talon. The love story in this book is no exception to Sybil's great love stories involving spicy scenes so delicately placed and with just enough detail to get a girls heart racing with the main character being dominant, alpha, caring, loving and will go to the ends of the earth for his women. One word - Lethal & Dangerous (well, two words)...

Once again, As always, Sybil's done it again.
Thank you....

Once again Ms. Bartel wields her absolutely magical wordcraft to bring her characters to full blazing life within the mind of the reader.
Her smooth & excellent writing creates a marvel of flesh & blood characters that leap from the page into the imagination, supported & superbly augmented with action, angst & smokin' hot sizzle.
And with Echo, Ms. Bartel once more demonstrates how she is skillfully able to grasp her reader by the throat AND heartstrings, take control of our emotions, make us CARE for, be INVESTED in, FEAR for, HOPE for, LOVE the characters she paints with words.
I'm deliberately not detailing anything about the plot because I think you need to go into this one without them in order to discover the beauty of Ms. Bartel's story yourself.
But know this: the writing is superb, the characters mesmerizing (oh, Echo!!), the plot & angst will keep you guessing as well as on tenterhooks with intense action & scorching sizzle.
Mainly however, you'll be sucked in from the beginning & this story will not let you go until long after you've finished this book.

Echo is the sixth book in Sybil’s Alpha Elite Series and let me tell you this, I thought I was prepared for Echo, but damn I was blown away, that man is everything and more.

Not only do we get Echo’s story and privy to his past we get cameos from some of our other Bartel Boyfriends. This was a fantastically written, intriguing storyline with some surprising twists and turns which take us readers along on a thrilling, exciting, action packed journey. I’m biting my tongue here as there’s so much I want to say, but I’m not willing to ruin a moment of anyone's enjoyment who reads this book as it’s best experienced from your own perspective.

I’ve said it before and no doubt I’ll say it again, Sybil's books just keep getting better and better. Echo can be read as a stand-alone, however I recommend you read them all. Chances are once you’ve read this book you’re going to want to read the others written by this mastermind of an author. Till next time Ms Bartel…. Over and out.

Well what can I say? I really cannot rate this book highly enough. Sybil Bartel has once again crafted a story that hooks you in right from the beginning. The action packed plot takes you on a roller-coaster ride of drama, and suspense. This book is a great addition to the fantastic AES series, the camaraderie and trust between the team is uplifting and although this book could be read as a stand alone it is great to catch up with characters from previous books, including the wonderful Talon! Although this book is full of excitement and intrigue, it is also a beautiful love story, and you find yourself rooting for a happy ending for Sancia and Echo. I woke up this morning wondering what on earth I can read to match this wonderful book, the next instalment in the series cannot be here quickly enough.

I have been waiting for this book since the first time I was introduced to Echo's character. It did not disappoint! It was everything I expected Echo to be...Raw,powerful,mysterious,possessive,aggressive and full of attitude. We can't forget the humor he brings out in all our other favorite characters. It's probably my most favorite quality of his. The heroine is a perfect match to Echos Alphaness with a softer gentle side while also being strong-willed. Echo has always been a tight-lipped character with many secrets to uncover, we finally get to see who Echo really is and what secrets he's been hiding. As always, Sybil has done an amazing job of intertwining other characters and their stories to echothers books. It's like visiting an old friend. If you've read any of the previous books, you will know this book is amazing and a must read!

Echo by Sybil Bartel...was freaking amazing!
I was captivated into Echo's story right from the beginning! Story well written, great world building and character development! This book is a page turner, one you start you won't stop....until you've reached the end!

Sybil is amazing at her craft of creating a story; she captures you're attention through angst and suspense, then takes you for a ride of your life!
Just like her books in the series it is action packed, have explosive chemistry and the feeling the characters are going through, you feel them as your own. I felt the happiness, sadness, grief, angst and more.... highly recommend this series, heck all of Sybil Bartel's books are phenomenal.

It's so cliche to say I was hooked by page one, but I'm not gonna lie, there's no other way to describe it. From the moment Echo rolls in all the way through to the moment he pledges his love to his love I couldn't stop reading.

I LOVED the plot and the intricacies it wove. It so helped along the drama, intrigue and suspense. The instant impact each of the main characters had on each other was described well and I truly believed in their story.

Echo's instalment of the AES is beyond amazing. The drama is fast paced. The action is non stop. The love is clear. The team pulled in to assist is awesome. The locations are beautiful.

I would highly recommend this story to all fans of Sybil Bartel's AES or Bodyguard series, or anyone who loves a strong military romance.

First one of Sybil's that I DNF. The first 50% of this book was setting up the last 50%. I had reached the point where she accidentally walked into where he worked seeking help and all he could do was verbally abuse her. It was disheartening to see this man who claimed he couldn't stomach domestic abuse, abusing her over and over again.

I decided at that point that I didn't really care how it ended.

The heroine was too young at the beginning and still appeared had not changed much over 9 years. Which I highly doubt. And the hero wasn't very hero like at least at that point. Going by what I've seen of Mr. Bartel's other books I knew it would be more of the same until the female in the story groveled enough to get him past it. Nah. I'm good.

Echo is a riveting, gripping romantic suspense that keeps you on the edge from almost the first page right up until the end. I feel like I write this with each release, but Echo was my favorite so far in this series. Sancia is innocent and naive at the beginning when she first comes to the attention of Echo, who is all alpha male and exactly the kind of Hero I love that Sybil Bartel is a master at writing. If you are at all on the fence on this author, or this book, don't second guess, just jump right in if you are a fan of angst, action and insta-attraction. I can't wait to get more in this series!

Ive been eagerly awaiting Echo since he first appeared in the AES Team, a solo, moody, silent type and boy does he deliver. We were warned about his story but holy hotness, Mr dark and dangerous and then some. The man is swoon worthy. The forbidden is just too tempting and is far from an easy journey filled with family elegances, heartache and guilt. Another amazing storyline from this author I just can’t get enough, devoured too quickly, over too soon. Until we meet the next addition to the team

My word!! I fell hard for young Echo and if it’s even possible, he got even better when he aged. Swoon!! This possessive, all
alpha beast is absolutely perfect. His woman is young, naive and sheltered. She brought me to tears with her Papa and made me want to be her with Echo. Danger, intrigue and action will keep you ravaging the pages but it’s the sexy protector that will capture your heart. Not to mention the explosive chemistry. Echo left me with a massive book hang over, that I am not sure I will recover from.

OH! MY! CRISTO!

Echo! Echo! Echo!!! You did not disappoint my dear sir! I knew I was love you! And I can see why! You might have a lot of anger, but oh my, you do have a lot of passion and your Principessa knows no bounds when it comes to that passion. The two grew and came a long way from when the first met and to when they meet again. And man the twist and turns that happen a long the way. Sybil keeps bringing with every new call sign that comes out and Echo is no different! Holy! What a fun rollercoaster that was!!!!

We have gotten glimpses of Echo in the past but now we have his story. I don't want to post names or their actual stories in case of spoilers but I do want to say that this is one of the best stories from the AES team. Echo's story is one that is so heartbreaking that I cried for Echo and his principessa and the time they lost. I love this book so much. I don't think that Sybil can top this one but then again, I have thought that about most of her books! :P

PS : I loved getting to see Talon and Neal again!

I am definitely hooked on this series. I discovered it while I was recuperating from surgery and now I just need to find out all the characters storylines. I liked Echo's storyline and he had great chemistry with Sancia and I made a point of reading it slower to savor it. Like all the books in the series each is a standalone storyline, but I still recommend you read them in order since so many different characters made appearances in each book. I really love this series and I am so glad I am on to the next one already.

I have read many books by Sybil Bartel, and with each one, the stories get better, more intriguing. This book had such a great story which evolved over time. Sometimes with authors you can predict where the story is going, but Sybil did a great job keeping the story alive with twists and turns, each being unexpected. If you haven't started this series, you should start now. Echo didn't disappoint. I will patiently wait for the next installment.
