From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Lexi Blake comes a new story in her Masters and Mercenaries series…

Brian “Boomer” Ward believes in sheltering strays. After all, the men and women of McKay-Taggart made him family when he had none. So when the kid next door needs help one night, he thinks nothing of protecting her until her mom gets home. But when he meets Daphne Carlton, the thoughts hit him hard. She’s stunning and hardworking and obviously in need of someone to put her first. It doesn’t hurt that she’s as sweet as the cupcakes she bakes.

Daphne Carlton’s life revolves around two things—her kid and her business. Daphne’s Delights is her dream—to take the recipes of her childhood and share them with the world. Her daughter, Lula, is the best kid she could have hoped for. Lula’s got a genius-level intelligence and a heart of gold. But she also has two grandparents who control her access to private school and the fortune her father left behind. They’re impossible to please, and Daphne worries that one wrong move on her part could cost her daughter the life she deserves.

As Daphne and Boomer find themselves getting closer, outside forces put pressure on the new couple. But if they make it through the storm, love will just be the icing on the cake because family is the real prize.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you'll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

If you love a dominant cinnamon roll hero, you need Boomer in your life! I fell so hard for this man, and I didn't think that was possible.

Truth be told, cinnamon rolls aren't usually my thing. But I've absolutely adored Boomer as a secondary character, so I knew I'd need his book. And as a main character? This man was everything! I loved him so hard. This big, tough military man with a heart of gold who rescues animals was just impossible not to love.

Boomer has so many things going for him, yet he doesn't think much of himself. And when it comes to his brainy, single mother neighbor? Well, she's beautiful and everything he wants, but he knows he's not smart enough for someone as intellectual as her. And the neighbor? Well, she would never think someone as devastatingly handsome as Boomer would be interested in her. They make quite the pair.

Daphne's daughter was such a wonderful secondary character. Stuck in the middle between her domineering grandparents and her mother who revolves her world around you is no easy place for a young girl to be. And when there's danger, her animal loving neighbor seems like the perfect one to go to for help. Daphne has been trying to make a life for herself and her daughter following her husband's death. His pretentious and super controlling mother don't exactly see eye to eye with her.

This was a super cute and steamy novella with plenty of action and spice to make for a read in one sitting sort of read. It hit the spot nicely to tide me over until the next Masters installment and highly recommend for anyone looking for something short but super satisfying.

Boomer was amazing! I adored everything about him. His love of animals, how he protects and heals any animal that needs it. His incredible generosity and kindness. He's the first guy to help anyone in need, even if they aren't a nice person. I found that to be amazing. To look past a rude person and still see someone who needs help. My favorite thing about him is how he was with Lou, the heroine's daughter. He was so good to Lou right from the beginning. I don't see many heroes like this and sure wish there were more. Daphne, the heroine was such a good mom. She put up with so much to make sure Lou was taken care of. She couldn't have done better than Boomer for her and Lou. For a kid, Lou was also a really fun character to get to know. She's genius level IQ and I loved how her mind worked. When she connected with Tag's kids (main hero in book one) she really came to life. And of course seeing Tag, his kids and a whole bunch of other series characters made this story so much more. I love these guys!

Not only did I fall for Boomer but Lou totally stole my heart and I cannot wait until Lexi Blake starts writing about all of the M&M kids as adults.

I've always wondered about Boomer, he's the quiet guy that eats a ton amongst the group but the truth is that he is more like an onion and has layers that needed to be pulled away before you can get to the core of him. Don't get me wrong, he's the guy that takes in all kinds of strays and cares and loves them while protecting everyone around him....He may seem hard on the outside but he's soft and gooey on the inside. I really enjoyed watching Lou and her mom Daphne rip apart the layers and make their way into his heart.

Daphne is a single mom raising a daughter, Lou, who has a genius level IQ and trying to keep her bakery a float all while trying to keep the peace with her former in-laws...only they don't make it easy. The problem with that is they pay for Lou's private school.

Boomer and Daphne are neighbors, and if you have ever had a neighbor you know you check them out and they have found the other attractive but never acted on it, heck they never said more than a hi while passing one another in the hall after their first encounter on the day she moved into the building. That all changes the day Lou goes to him for help.

Boomer and Daphne have great chemistry and I loved the way the whole group rallied around Daphne and Lou when they needed help. Tag's girls played a big part in this story with Lou and I really can't wait to see all of them grown and getting their own HEA's.

This was a great story and a quick steamy read that I would recommend to anyone that has enjoyed the Masters and Mercenaries Series, especially the Reloaded one, if you enjoy Steamy Romantic Suspense, Single Parent Romances, or an Alpha Roll Hero (cross between Alpha and Cinnamon Roll) I highly recommend this book to you too.

Happy Reading!!!

I am addicted to the sugary goodness of Ms. Blake's Masters and Mercenaries Series. Her 1001 Dark Night novellas are decadent cupcakes to her full novel multi-tiered gourmet cakes. This novella features Boomer. I LOVE boomer. We learn why his call sign is boomer and we learn a little bit about his life growing up. Let's just say, I'd like to dropkick his family and gather Boomer up and let him know he is neither dumb nor unwanted.

I have not read any of these books and when I realized this was number 24.5 I was concerned I would be lost. But no, this story was fabulous and exciting! I did not miss anything but now I’m antsy to read the previous 24 books!
Daphne is a single mother of her daughter Lou’s. She has noticed the very hot male that lives next door to her but it isn’t until Lou calls her and says she was followed home from school and found a safe have in “Boomers” apartment that Daphne goes into mama bear mode. Racing to their apartment complex to find her daughter quite content with her manly neighbour.
Attraction happens, complicated by in law interference, throw in a unique and non traditional family of the Taggart’s and you have the makings of a spectacular story.
I will definitely go back to the beginning and read more of the Masters and Mercenaries series.

Loved it!

I’m been a fan of this series for a while now and even though this is number 24.5 (wow!), the characters and the stories remain unique, refreshing and highly entertaining. The Taggart/McKay crew can never get too big. Thank goodness!

A single mom doing her best for her super smart daughter. A man who cannot resist the underdog. Bring them together and what do you get but a story full of sparks, love and commitment.

Boomer and Daphne were drawn together by Lou but the sparks between them could not be missed. Independent woman meets highly protective man and you know the arguments would be fast and furious. What also grew between them was trust and understanding, an appreciation for the many strengths they both possessed. Lou was spectacular as an extremely bright child who, despite her intelligence, struggled with all the usual growing pains. Keeping her happy and safe soon became a favourite thing for them both.

Funny, flirty and full of all the emotion, this is one of my favourites in a favourite series. If you haven’t met them yet you are in for a whole lot of stellar reading! ~Diane, 5 stars

Overall Grade: 4.5 ⭐️

I want to tell you that Boomer and Daphne’s story in Lexi Blake’s Delighted is a revelation. It isn’t that it isn’t exciting and everything you love about Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series. Even more, as a 1,001 Dark Nights, it’s a bite-sized bit of fun in this world. Make no mistake. I’m a HUGE fan of Brian “Boomer” Ward. In this book, there is talk about the simplicity of his character, or rather, his mind. However, for anyone who has been reading her Reloaded version of this world, there is nothing truly simple about Boomer. He is a devoted friend and oftentimes the levity in Blake’s stories.

In Delighted, he’s a savior for Daphne. Not in any way that undermines her own authority or sense of self. Instead, through his care of her daughter, Lou, Boomer’s heroism shines as he’s compassionate and caring for her and Lou, especially as Daphne is served up the ire of her former in-laws. Unlike the other Masters and Mercenaries stories, we aren’t dealing with a huge external threat. There is the promise of it, but the threat is easily managed. Instead, the tension of this book is Daphne’s need for control in a lifetime that has seemed out of control. Boomer is incredibly supportive, but she pushes him away at times out of the fear of losing control. This push and pull doesn’t last long because Boomer’s perseverance and respect for her boundaries regarding Lou win her over. All of this is lovely and makes for an engaging read

But the true “delight” of Delighted is Lou and the next-gen of the Masters and Mercenaries world. Blake mentions it in her Acknowledgments from the Author at the beginning of this book, but there is a promise of more stories from an engaging group of M&M youth. Lou is incredibly intelligent, having skipped two grades. And she’s different. This has not won over her schoolmates. When she meets the children of the Masters and Mercenaries, like her mother, and the stories prior to Delighted, she finds her found family. That message is strong in this book. It reminds you that, no matter your past or present experiences with your biological family, you can craft your own. We find Lou thriving as she has found her “home.” I finished Delighted with so much excitement and anticipation for future stories, and if you’re a dedicated Lexi Blake fan, I think you will too. Even if you’ve never read her stories, you can jump into Delighted today and find a family of characters.

Ahhhh where do I start with the King of all cinnamon rolls Brian “Boomer” Ward.

I’ll be honest I might be a little biased with my review as Boomers character has had my heart for a long time, he’s been someone that has caught my attention in other characters books, he’s a sweetheart, brave, funny, thoughtful, drop-dead gorgeous and he’s a loyal steadfast friend to everyone in the McKay & Taggart close-knit work/family group

This is his HEA and the author has done it soooo well that I wanted more, and don’t get me started on how good the 12 years later epilogue was!!!! 😍😍🥰🥰😍🥰

Boomers early life wasn’t great so he joined the military, we were there (as much as readers can be) when he began his journey with M&T, this was 10 years ago and it’s been so fun reading their adventures, but over the course of the last few books slowly each of his work family have been finding love. Boomer wants that, he wants a family to call his own.

Daphne was perfect for Boomer, not just because she runs a bakery, but she sees him, the real person behind his dyslexia. I adored his growing relationship with both Daphne and her daughter Lou.

This story had everything, the playful banter between the M&T team had me laughing, Ian Taggart and his new bird friend Molly was typical big tag humour and again had me laughing, as a reader of this series you really feel part of the gang and catching up with everyone was perfect.
We have suspense, cinnamon roll loving, laugh out loud moments, kickass kids, protective feels, and romance that made my kindle melt in such a sweet way.

DELIGHTED is instalment 24.5 in Lexi Blake’s contemporary, adult MASTERS AND MERCENARIES erotic, romantic suspense series, and Lexi’s latest addition to the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series. This is former CIA operative Brian ‘Boomer’Ward, and single mother/ bakery owner Daphne Carlton’s story line. DELIGHTED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Boomer and Daphne) DELIGHTED focuses on the building romance and relationship between former CIA operative Brian ‘Boomer’Ward, and single mother/ bakery owner Daphne Carlton. Daphne Carlton is a single mother, and struggles in the wake of her former in-laws interfering in the way she raises her twelve year old daughter. When the elderly babysitter leaves without notice, Daphne finds herself facing her sexy next door neighbor, Brian ‘Boomer’ Ward, the man her daughter has quickly called a friend. Boomer Ward’s attraction to Daphne is immediate but our hero struggles to believe he is worthy of his own happily ever after. Offering up the McKay-Taggart day care/family setting, Boomer pulls Daphne into their lives, lives that are now willing to risk to help the woman with whom Boomer is falling in love. A break-in, a stalker and threats from the former in-law find Daphne on the edge of control until the team at McKay-Taggart uncover the truth about what was happening and why. What ensues is the quick building romance and relationship between Daphne and Boomer, and the potential fall-out as a search reveals Boomer has secrets Daphne knows nothing about.

The relationship between Boomer and Daphne is one of immediate attraction but Daphne hasn’t dated since the death of her late husband. Falling for Boomer was easy but Daphne’s first priority was her daughter’s health and safety, safety that is threatened when someone destroys the place where they lived. Brian ‘Boomer’ Ward knows Daphne Carlton is the woman that calls to his heart but Boomer struggles with issues of low self-esteem, issues that continue in the face of his success and good looks. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate

We are reintroduced to several members of the McKay-Taggart family including Charlotte , Big Tag and their teenagers; MaeBe Vaughn, as well as Daphne’s daughter Lou, and her former mother-in –law Amelia Carlton.

DELIGHTED is a fast paced, engaging and captivating story focusing on family, friendships, relationships and love. The premise is engaging; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and quirky. The epilogue fast-forwards the series approximately twelve years, where once again, the author gives us a brief look into the future, and the next generation of McKay-Taggart operatives.

I actually liked this sorry but the only problem I had with it was the fact that I got a feeling that like everyone 3-5 pages was saying something about Boomer not being smart enough. It really got on my last nerve. Having a son that's on the spectrum I saw him in Boomer and it made my blood boil.

OK not that the rent is over let's go to the good parts: I absolutely loved Boomer and Daphne. They started off a bit shy but the chemistry is sizzling and when her past starts to course problems, he and his friends are willing to go all the way, in order to keep her and her daughter safe. I adored Lou. She was a firecracker and really balanced them out.

Overall it was a good read I'm excited to see what happens next in this world where danger lurks around wanting to bring them down.

I am normally good about pausing to write things that strike me as a read a book and put them into my review. I have to say that I got so caught up in this story I did not do that until I was finished. We get to follow Boomer in this story! Who are Daphne and Louisa? How does Boomer meet them? What do we learn about them? What does everyone do for a living? What does Boomer do that surprises MaeBe? IWho are Amelia and Brandon? I have to say that Amelia with a witch with a capital B. I did not appreciate how she treated Daphne and Lou. How do they know her? I loved boomer's menagerie! I loved that he got Lou, on her level!! You need to read this story to see who is behind the odd things that are happening.

Delighted (Masters and Mercenaries #24.5) by Lexi Blake
4.5 stars
M/F Romance
I was given this book for an honest review by Wicked Reads.

Boomer is a softy at heart. He wants everyone to be safe and cared for. He has a plethora of pets and now that his good friend is staying with him, he is also making sure she’s taken care of too. But, when his neighbor’s daughter comes knocking on his door, he can’t turn her away either. Someone was following the young girl and deposit her incredible intelligence, she was still nervous and sought him out.

Daphne is doing her best to run a successful business and raise an incredibly intelligent, smart, sweet child. Her daughter is her whole world. When she realizes that her very sexy neighbor has helped her daughter out, Daphne can’t help but swoon just a little. But, with obligations breathing down her neck and in-laws that hold the purse strings for her daughter’s education, a romantic entanglement isn’t in the cards.

As Boomer watches how hard Daphne works and knows that he can ease her burden, at least a little, he has to gauge how involved to become since it seems that Daphne isn’t quite sure about him.

These two have to learn to trust and know that if either of them fall, the other one will catch them. It’s fun to watch Daphne blossom and gain confidence in her own abilities. Boomer has always been a fun character to watch. He’s quiet and confident too.

You’ll fall in love with this small family and the extended family are still so much fun! You won’t be disappointed in these short stories that Blake has for this amazing set of characters.

Boomer has always held a special place in my heart. I was excited when I found out he was going to get his happily ever after.

"Desire is pretty much the same across all the spectrums. It's all longing and fear of rejection. It's kind of the great equalizer."
When women see Boomer they see his six-pack, his tight gluteus, imagining what pleasure he can deliver
What they don't see is him.
He knew he had always been a bit slow putting the pieces together.
He accepted his value was brawn over brain.
But it still hurt on occasion
Especially when it came to Daphne

"Yeah, it's the tall thing, not the stunningly gorgeous thing. Silly man."
Daphne was extremely attracted to her adorable neighbor.
But after years of being emotionally beaten down, she was pretty sure a sexy man like him wouldn't be interested in her.
She came with emotional baggage and a never-ending list of problems.

"Life was, beginning, and it begged to be witnessed. "
But Boomer's family and fate had different plans for these two
Sometimes it just takes a push to get things rolling
Now if they both could just get on board

This was light on the angst, sprinkled with a touch of suspense, doused in a whole lot of sweet romance
*sigh* all the darn feels

The Master & Mercenaries series has something for every type of reader
Suspense - Action - Humor - Angst - Romance - Drama - Family
and so much more
The series is filled with stories and characters that stay with you long after you flip the cover.

I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
I love visiting the worlds of Masters & Mercenaries and Sanctum. Each time is so different but you feel as if the same because there are so many of the same characters from previous books that it feels as if you stepped into a family reunion.
Brian “Boomer” Ward is the caregiver, he takes in strays. When the kid next door needed help one night, Boomer was all too happy to help until her mom got home. Needless to say, he fell head over heels in love with Daphne the minute he saw her.
While Boomer doesn't want to push her, Daphne thinks he has a girlfriend, she is content having him as a friend, something she doesn't have. When she finds out that Maybee isn't his girlfriend, she is ready to take things to the next step.
As they get closer it seems someone is out to get Daphne. But what the person or persons don't know is that they do not want to mess with the folks at McKay-Taggart. And Daphne knows what she wants and will not let anyone stand in the way of getting what is best for her and her daughter.
I loved this story and I think it might be my favorite so far. It is filled with fun, flirty, family, suspense, a talking bird, a genius 12-year-old, and an all-around great story. I look forward to the next book in the series.

From the moment we met Boomer, we were hopeless in love with the man. This man has some of the best quality's lover of animals and nurture, kind and friendly and always the type to lend a helping hand even if you're not so very nice. He is a true protector of those he loves, and he cares for but, the way he is with animals is just so heart melting.

This story had so many great characters, and we always love seeing our favorite characters like Charlotte and Big Tag grace our pages once again but, now we have Lou and Daphne added to the list of great characters and their Taggart/McKay family is growing once again.

We loved Lou from the moment we met her. She is a beautiful child inside and out and for being a genius at her age, she was a well-rounded child, albeit a bit lonely and sad. Loved the easiness and the friendship that developed quickly between her and Boomer from the moment he met her, he was her protector, her friend and found it so easy to love her.

Daphne was a character once first meeting her seemed standoffish and maybe not so nice a person but, after learning about her life and struggles up until this point, you realize now her first introduction she was suited up with her armor. Once you really got to know her, she was an amazing mom, a single parent trying to always do the best and be the best mom she can be and had a great personality but, what we loved most is she saw Boomer for what the man really is, a kind and loving soul who is possessive and protective of those he loves animals and human alike.

We loved it! Loved how Lou and Daphne fit right in with the family Boomer had created for himself. Loved Boomer and Daphne as a couple, they were so sweet together and belonged together. We have to say that the Taggart/McKay clan, their kids, were priceless and made us laugh. We see in the future that the children might just follow in their parent's footsteps, and I, for one, can't wait to be on their journey's.

This is by far the best short story I have read in a long time. I was sucked in on the first page and really hated when I finished it. This couple had all my favorite qualities and I just loved the little girl. And of course the rest of the team making cameos made me smile. A great short read!!! ~Jen

"Oh Boomer...I couldn't wait to read this story. Boomer has been the big hearted softy that will do anything for anyone. And this time the anyone is his neighbor and her daughter that seem to have a fan or two that aren't necessarily on the up and up. Boomer may not be the best at reading between the lines, and he finds himself second guessing a few things. When he and Daphne finally break through the barriers, he introduces her and Lou to a new set of friends that he deems family. I loved the relationships in this one, between the adults, the kids and the interactions between them all. The mention of those we don't see on page, the situations that lead up to where we are right now, all an amazing reminder of why I love this world and every story I have read within it.

Boomer is a man with a big who no matter how many times he has been hurt continues to give everything he has to those he cares about. When Lou, the daughter of the neighbor he is attracted to, comes to his door needing help he doesn’t hesitate to step in and once they become part of his life, he can’t imagine a future without them.

After the death of her husband Daphne has worked to create a new life for her and her daughter Lou. She is trying to balance the bakery she owns as well as the needs of her very smart daughter when Boomer comes into her life. Both he and McKay Taggert give them a sense of belonging that has been missing in their lives and they are there to support them when they need someone the most.

Boomer and Daphne are perfect for each other and Lou is such a blast. Hot chemistry, a little suspense and witty banter as we catch up with the characters we know and love and the glimpse of the future leaves us wanting more.

I live in Oklahoma & went to college at OU so having a hero who goes by Boomer was delightful for me since Boomer Sooner is our thing when watching our beloved college play football LOL! I know I know, it seems silly but we take it very serious here so Boomer was my guy before I got to know him in the pages LOL! Anyway, Boomer is a protector with a big heart & takes care of stray animals so perfect in my eyes. Daphne is a single mother to a daughter (a scene stealer) who is doing her best to protect said daughter from her deceased husband's parents who are just impossible. Lou (our little scene stealer) was the one to bring these two together, but there are outside forces who don't want these two to develop into something serious. Delighted is a novella that packs a big punch but with Lexi Blake, that's not surprising to me. I LOVE this author, this series, and definitely this story so don't pass it up! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is identified as book 24.5 of the series - and yet you could read this fresh and enjoy every minute ... but I defy you to not want to go back and enjoy the whole series!

Boomer is such a good guy, and yet his slowness at school has cast a long shadow over his life in terms of considering himself worthy. He is so innately intelligent, and such a good man that it is incredibly frustrating and also unfair. I loved that he found someone who finally got him and gave him everything too. A truly heartwarming and engaging story, which I loved from the very beginning.

Daphne was just the perfect person to understand the value of what Boomer was offering, and her super bright daughter was completely on board with him being a precious addition to their family.

I loved catching up with the gang and once again we get insight into how the next generation are going to be able to offer us another run of fabulous stories ... perfection!

This one was so much fun. From the awkwardness at the start between Boomer and Daphne, to Lou feeling like a "normal" kid by spending time with the MT kids, to finding out someone was gaslighting Daphne for a very stupid reason. I loved that by the time trouble found Daphne and Lou, Boomer and all the MT crew was there to give support and help fight. I also loved that Daphne and Lou found family with the MT crew, like so many others.

The ending had me smiling, loved seeing Boomer and Daphne live their HEA, but also loved seeing Lou take her life in a new direction. I think that was a given, just the when was in question.

I absolutely loved Boomer’s story! I say this every time I read a book from this world but I love coming back to these amazing characters. I always just feel extremely happy from the moment I open the book till the very last page.

I knew Boomer’s story would be great because Boomer is one of my favourite characters. I loved getting to dive into his personal life, it was so much more than I was expecting. In all the best ways. The animal pack he had, was weird & awesome.

Daphne was a surprise but honestly after reading their story, I realized they were a perfect match. I loved Lou & her personality was the perfect addition to the wild children of the men & women of Taggart Security.

I honestly cannot wait for the kids’ books. I really really hope we get them soon even though I’m not ready to leave the adults behind. To be honest I’ll never get enough of this world. It’s one I’ll reread forever.

Unsurprisingly, I loved Delighted!! Boomer is such a sweetie and I adored everything about him. And oh that epilogue left me wanting more…can’t wait to see what havoc the next gen creates.

This series stands out for the interaction between the characters (family) and the lovely food mentioned is a great bonus. Boomer shows it’s not the size of a person that counts but the size of a person’s heart. Would well recommend to find the start of this series and enjoy.

Perfect if you’re in the mood for a sweet and steamy novella. Boomer is the ultimate cinnamon roll hero with an added dominant streak that only increases his attractiveness. While Daphne is a single mother who loves her daughter but has lost touch with who she. These two are perfect as a couple and they only make each other stronger. This is actually a really great look into the M&M world and gives you a taste if you want to start the series. If you can’t tell, I am obsessed with all of Lexi’s books and cannot recommend them enough.

Additionally if you’re already familiar with this world, Daphne’s daughter gives us a little tease of what to expect for the next generation!

I love visiting the worlds of Masters & Mercenaries and Sanctum. Each time is so different, but you feel as if the same because there are so many of the same characters from previous books that it feels as if you stepped into a family reunion.

When she finds out that MaeBe isn't his girlfriend, she is ready to take things to the next step.

As they get closer, it seems someone is out to get Daphne.

This is identified as book 24.5 of the series – and yet you could read this fresh and enjoy every minute... but I defy you to not want to go back and enjoy the whole series!

Boomer is such a good guy, and yet his slowness at school has cast a long shadow over his life in terms of considering himself worthy. He is so innately intelligent, and such a good man, that it is incredibly frustrating and also unfair. I loved that he found someone who finally got him and gave him everything too. A truly heartwarming and engaging story, which I loved from the very beginning.

Daphne was just the perfect person to understand the value of what Boomer was offering, and her super bright daughter was completely on board with him being a precious addition to their family.

I loved catching up with the gang and once again we get insight into how the next generation are going to be able to offer us another run of fabulous stories... perfection!

M/F Romance

Boomer is a softy at heart. He wants everyone to be safe and cared for. He has a plethora of pets and now that his good friend is staying with him, he is also making sure she’s taken care of too. But when his neighbor’s daughter comes knocking on his door, he can’t turn her away either. Someone was following the young girl and despite her incredible intelligence, she was still nervous and sought him out.

Daphne is doing her best to run a successful business and raise an incredibly intelligent, smart, sweet child. Her daughter is her whole world. When she realizes that her very sexy neighbor has helped her daughter out, Daphne can’t help but swoon just a little. But with obligations breathing down her neck and in-laws who hold the purse strings for her daughter’s education, a romantic entanglement isn’t in the cards.

You’ll fall in love with this small family, and the extended family are still so much fun! You won’t be disappointed in these short stories that Blake has for this amazing set of characters.

OMG I love Boomer, he's so sweet and caring. And he cares so much about the people around him.

Boomer is someone that’s been around for a while but always as a background character. He's been around McKay-Taggart for a long time. Even with all of this we don’t really know much about him, besides he's a looker.

"The smart ones look at me like I’m either a giant teddy bear or a sex toy"

So Boomers the guy that like to take in strays. He basically has a zoo in his apartment.

Daphne's been through a lot with her in-laws. She was married to a really smart man and they had a daughter Lou that turns out to be extremely smart, so smart she skipped a couple of grades in school.

She's in private school that the in-laws pay for and try to use over Daphne's head at every turn. They have money and are super condescending.

Lou is so perfect in this story! I love the kids in this book and how we got to see them in action.

Boomer is instantly interested in Daphne but isn't sure what she would see in him, she smart and talented and he's just the dumb guy that collects strays. Or at least that’s what he think.

"Michael turned Boomer’s way. “He can’t unbutton it enough to show off his chest. And a polo doesn’t have sleeves he can roll up. It’s Boomer Seduction 101. Li’s right. This is about a woman.”

Daphne needs some attention and someone to lean on, she's been alone with only Lou as company for a long time. So when she starts interacting with Boomer and other adults she realized what she's been missing for so long.

“Am I your latest stray, Boomer?” “What does that mean?” “It means you take in all the sad-sack creatures of the world and you help them heal and then you let them go. Is that what you want to do with me?”

And how would we even be in the M & M world without some Ian. The most obnoxiously funny man, in everyone's business.

Big Tag’s head shook. “Absolutely not, man. She married the last dude who got her pregnant, so get in there.

And now he's teaching the animals to have his wit too.

Tag placed Molly on her perch and closed her cage. “Good-bye, bird of my heart.” “Asshole,” Molly replied. “Yeah, I love you, too,” Tag said with a grin.

This was an amazing book and I story I didn’t know I needed. Boomer pulls you in from the beginning. I absolutely loved him! He was so sweet and kind and curious.

He had some tough times with the people around him before coming to McKay-Taggart, so I really liked seeing that he had the gang at his back.

This is definitely a must read! Daphne and Boomer are exactly what the other needed. They helped each other and were the perfect partner for the other. And Lou fits in so perfectly.

I really enjoyed her and Boomer's relationship too. Lou wasn't a normal kid by any means but everyone made fun of her. I loved seeing her find her self with the McKay-Taggart kids and find her voice to stick up for what she wanted.

This book gave me all the feels!

O.M.G….I am so unbelievably happy with Delighted. I am sooo happy we finally got Boomer’s story and loved love the glimpse we got of the second generation of Masters and Mercenaries series(at the end of the book) which I believe is going to be in the Masters and Mercenaries Reloaded series. Readers of Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series all know that Ian’s girls were definitely going to blow up their world around them and with Lou’s smarts that will would an unbeatable team!! Back to Delighted Boomer’s and Daphne’s story, they may seem like they are mismatched and it was a concern Daphne had but being opposites is not a bad thing. I absolutely loved Lou and I am so happy they formed a family and that even with the bumps on the road. Boomer and Daphne were able to communicate even if they both had some misconceptions that could have caused trouble if not for their family stepping up. I can’t wait to dive into No Time To Lie, book 4, of the Masters and Mercenaries Reloaded series! I really really hope that we will get Kala, Kenzie, Tasha, Lou, TJ and . I love these short stories (novella’s) in the 1001 Dark Nights books but I love the Masters and Mercenaries and the Masters and Mercenaries Reloaded series. Lexi Blake is one of my top five favorite authors and Delighted is a small part of why. I love reading all of the books that Lexi writes. I have read them all and still love going back and reading them again. Gotta love MacKay-Taggart! Lexi releases a book in her Butterfly Bayou series and I am here for it especially while waiting for No Time To Lie. A lot of Lexi’s books have crossovers from her various series. For the Butterfly Bayou the crossover book that kicked off the series is Book 1, No Cover, from the Crossover Collection. I truly and highly recommended Delighted, Masters and Mercenaries series, Masters and Mercenaries Reloaded series, and Lexi Blake as an author. If you have not read any of Lexi’s books before or you have read one or more and feel like you are lost then I would definitely recommend starting with The Dom Who Loved Me from Masters and Mercenaries(or if you like bundles like I do then go with Masters and Mercenaries Bundle:The Early Ops. Other series that has some crossover is her Night in Bliss, Colorado and Texas Sirens. I just can’t say enough how much I love reading Lexi’s books and I am sure other readers will too. I have never been disappointed in any of her books. Just be warned that it’s hard to just read one of her books. The first book I ever read from Lexi was her Book 1, Their Captive Virgin Captive from the Masters of Ménage series and just kept on reading one series after another. I could not get enough. I always feel like I can’t get enough and hate to put her books down even after a book has ended. So be prepared to become addicted to Lexi’s books!! Happy Reading!!
