It’s trick or treat for two smitten lovers in this seasonal holiday romance as Halloween approaches and a little unleashed magic lets the ghoul times roll.

Forrest’s to-do list:
1. Convince Jonathan to move in with him.
2. No, seriously. That’s it.

It’s been nine months of playful bickering and bliss for Forrest Wilde and his boyfriend, Jonathan. But in order to move their relationship forward, Jonathan needs Forrest to find closure from his past.

Alexander Adler is back in town and dragging all of Forrest’s ghosts screaming into the light. Is there still a spark waiting to ignite between Forrest and his ex, or are they nothing more than toasted history? Forrest isn’t exactly eager to find out, seeing as sometimes the monsters under the bed are people who haunt us from days gone by.

Every autumn, the town of Sunset Surf comes alive in celebration of the season. But this year, when Forrest falls under a mysterious spell that forces him to forget the person he loves most, there will be plenty of spooks in store for the fun-loving and eccentric residents of this seaside village. Torn between fright and flight, Forrest must face his fears in order to make his way back to true love—or risk losing it forever.

Bone to be Wilde is a Halloween romance set in a small beach town on the Southern California coast. The story features an amnesia spell, hijinks and banter, corn maze capers, ghost stories, and a little black cat. Stop in for a spell if you’d like a Halloween treat!

* This story follows the characters and events of the first book in the series, Merry & Sprite, and may be read as a standalone, but it is strongly recommended to read the first book before starting Bone to Be Wilde.

After really enjoying the first book, this story was precisely what I thought, and dreaded, that it might be.

One big ole' "Fucking With Their Happy" -- my least favorite type of Fucking.

Although, I do have to admit, if their happy had to be fucked with, this follow-up story was significantly less annoying and frustrating than a lot of relationship separation stories that I've read.

In this continuation, Forrest needed to prove to Jonathan that he was over his recently-returned-to-town first love.

However, the only way that was ever going to happen was if Forrest completely while he made peace with his ex.

And that was precisely what happened, thanks to another unexpected spell.

It took me a while to realize what was going on, because the tone of the book felt like it had shifted from 5th gear suddenly into Reverse. Yes, when it happened, my mind was making the shrill rubber screeching on the asphalt noises, I was so confused.

But while not my favorite of plot directions, it could've been much, much worse, so I'd still recommend the book and rate it at around 3.5 relatively-painless stars.

I am curious if the series will continue, with Noah getting his own well-deserved story. I'd read it, for sure.

I just adore these books and these characters and their relationship! I can feel the love between them, and it makes me just all sorts of warm and squishy inside.

This one had a little more angst, but it’s the kind of series in which you know it’s always going to work out. The angst just added more emotion to the story and strengthened the bond between these two.

Jonathan frustrated me a bit, but even he realized by the end of the book that he wasn’t really being fair to Forrest, so all is forgiven!

Much like the first book, the setting was just a normal (albeit quirky) town, but there was a touch of magic involved in the story.

Did I mention how much I love these two and their adorable relationship? Because I do, and *fingers crossed* that there will be more books about them!

I almost didn't read this book. I really REALLY hate when a sequel fucks with an established HEA, like this book said it would, and because I read the blurb, I was on tenterhooks the entire first half waiting for the other shoe to drop.

When it did, finally, it wasn't as bad as I expected, and I guess the author was right in how they handled Forrest needing to forgive Alex and choosing Jonathan all over again.

Glad I read this.

Loved seeing Jonathan and Forrest and Lilith again

You don't have to read the first book to enjoy this but Merry & Sprite was such a sweet story that you really should. I loved Jonathan and Forrest's fractious relationship that turned into love, and now we see them a year down the line.
This story sees Forrest being unexpectedly confronted by his past and this causes trouble in his relationship. He finds himself in the same position as Jonathan did in the first book, getting mysterious magical messages, and the story was very cleverly plotted, with no one realising what was happening to Forrest. I felt for poor Jonathan all through, bless him, and I was very pleased when the endi came because I couldn't take much more angst for him.
Lilith and the other townsfolk were great, making me laugh and making the story better. Esther especially cracked me up again.
I have to admit that I hated Alex and that remained true at every point in the story, nor did I like the rapprochement that he and Forrest reach, and I have all my fingers crossed that he doesn't get his own story nor ever appear again in any of Dani's stories.

This is a lovely book and perfect for Halloween. I hadn't read the previous book, and not sure I really needed to, but I may go back and read it at some point.

The book had everything; loveable characters, ensemble cast, muffins, witches, best friends forever, spells, a cat fountain, amnesia, a knowing mum, treehouses, glitter, cookies, hops, a dodgy baker, hay rides, black cats, best friends, Harryween!!!!

I had no idea what to expect and Dani Lakely provided me with a fantastic read that I didn't want to put down. I totally recommend that you add it to your Kindle library today xx

I didn't enjoy this one at all and I cannot stand that the author went the route that she did ... she "fucked" with the previous book in ways she seriously shouldn't've and - from my perspective - undid a lot of what she accomplished with the previous book!! This one was a FAIL!!!

I love after the HEA stories. Not only do you get to check in with your favorite couples you are reminded that there are sometimes more than a single challenge to a relationship. Forrest and Jonathan are in a stable relationship but seem to be held back from taking the next steps. The reason becomes clear when Forrest's first love returns to town. No one in Sunset Surf has forgiven him for cheating on Forrest and breaking his heart. It becomes clear that until Forrest resolves the issues he has with his ex and lay the past to rest it will hold him back from the happiness he wants with Jonathan. As usual the residents of Sunset Surf bring the story to life and make me laugh every time.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series (momentary aside here about said book, it’s worth reading if you haven’t already– while this story can work as a standalone, the first book is super enjoyable in its own right). This story offered more of all the things that charmed me in Merry & Sprite– a touch of magic, an interesting premise, a great setting, compelling character development, and an easy relationship to root for between Forrest and Jonathan. I liked the chance to learn a bit more about Forrest’s past, especially since it’s been so impactful on who he is now, and he deserves closure and all the good things.

I quire enjoyed this book, but I think I probably would have had a better time with it if I'd read book one first. I think you can get away without reading in order, but I also think I probably would have had a better insight into the characters if I had that extra bit of background.

The story was engaging and I enjoyed the paranormal aspects, but I found some of the conflict, particularly around the ex storyline felt a bit dissatisfying. I liked the background and the view of their small town, it gave the story a cosy feel. I will probably go back and read the first book, then go through this one again to see if I get more out of it, but for now I'd recommend reading in order.

Sweet and magical

Sunset Surf and its residents are still the best thing you can ask for in a rom com with a dash of magic.

In this second installment in the series we have the continuation of Forrest and Johnatan's love story. Now from Forrest's POV.

Some past hurts get digged up and a spell endangers (or helps along?) these two adorably bananas lovebirds' relationship.

It was yet again a sweet, slightly magical and without a doubt smile-worthy story. The halloween vibes, the little nods to the first book and Forrest being the king of puns made my day!

It's really just an adorable romcom for the loomy days!

Open minds, lead to open hearts. Forrest, is ready for the next phase of his relationship with Jonathan. He wants to invite Jon to move in with him. Then, Forrest's past comes back to stir the pot, create chaos and throw challenges to their relationship. Can Forrest and Jon navigate their new reality? This is a good fun story that surprises us. The aughor did a good job showing us who Forrest and Jon are, so we can love them as they deserve. Nicely done. I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

How can a story be both sweet and heartbreaking? I don't know but this one is just that. So looking forward to what ever happens next in this quirky little town.

QUICK THOUGHTS

** Holiday/Halloween (but it doesn't play a big part)
** Rom-Com
** Small quirky town
** Paranormal
** Some magic - involving a black cat... maybe ;)
** Established couple
** An ex that causes some trouble
** Really sweet but heartbreaking too
** Made me laugh
** Made me teary
** LOVED the MCs... Forrest & Jonathan
** Can be read as a stand-alone but I wouldn't

This was so entertaining! I think that you could probably get away with not reading the first book, but it was super cute, so why miss out?
We finally get to the bottom of Forrest's past and the mysterious Alex that prevented him from committing to anyone before he met Jonathan.
As in book 1 there's a sprinkling of magic, including a spell to heal Forrest's heart and the town get fully involved.
I love the small town feel and really want Noah's story because he's just the sweetest guy.

While I liked the first one much more (I’m not a fan of unresolved ex issues or amnesia plots) this was still very charming. Forrest was less compelling as a main character than Jonathan (less emotionally mature, more of a golden retriever who was clueless about how his actions came across).

And I’m all for growth and maturity but I’m also a petty bitch who would never have forgiven Alexa, at least, never allowed him back into my life.

This is the continuation of the story of Forest and Jonathan. It is the 2nd book in the Holiday in Sunset Surf series. I would suggest that you read them in order, just makes it more fun. I loved that we learned more about Forest. The main and secondary characters are wonderful. The magic, emotion and humour keeps you turning the pages. Definitely recommended.

I received this book as an Arc and I am happily reviewing it voluntarily.

Don't Know What You've Got Til It's Gone

Dani Lakely writes with plenty humor and all the feels. When Forrest's ex comes back to town he has to face his past and let it go in order for he and Jonathan to have any chance at happily ever after. Add in a spell that makes him forget Jonathan and he finds out who his true love really is. Loved this second book and can't wait for more!

This one was a little on the cheesy side, but in a good way. Forrest has to deal with his ex who had broken his heart some years earlier. In the process Johnathan wants a break to give Forrest the space to think about his ex. hilarity ensues by way of Forrest getting hexed into forgetting about Johnathan and being forced to confront his demon ex. It was silly, off the wall and just as funny (or punny) as the first. Would recommend for a quick read.

I liked the first book a lot more. The characters weird overly complex relationship was really uncomfortable and not really like heartwarming or showing the depth of their relationships. Noah's weird as hell LOL Forrest is like, kind of likable here, I think I liked the first book more because Johnathan is more my speed but Forrest and his social circle is exhausting. Nekanis pretty cool though but the way she kisses Forrest on the mouth adds to the weirdness.

Forrest has no choice but to reckon with his past here if he wants that relationship with Jonathan. I always enjoy the angst from a story where the ex- comes back and here we get that mixed with the amnesia spell and all the trappings of Halloween. Sunside Surf is a delightful place to visit, meet the people and see what unusual things are going on.

Loved

I thought this book was going to be so full of angst but the amnesia spell doesn't hit until over half way through the book. I did bawl my eyes out at one point though. However, there was so much sweetness and love that it helped make it better. I love Jonathan and Forrest together so much. From the first book to this book. It's brilliant.

Can't see the Forrest for the trees

Punny!!! I read "Merry Sprite" last Christmas and enjoyed it. I was looking forward to this book. It was a page turner. I did not want to put it down. I enjoyed seeing Forrest resolve his issues from the past. I enjoyed see Forrest and Jonathan's relationship grow. I enjoyed the puns too.

Loved it! The sass, sarcasm, and dirty jokes were just as good as book one and kept me smiling the entire time. I'm not usually one for the memory loss trope...I will stop watching a show if it happens, but I couldn’t put this story down. It was short and sweet...a happy ending they both deserved. Hoping there is a Noah story in the future!

Halloween is coming to town and these two lovers are in for a trick or a treat of their lives. Life is not going to be easy when trouble appears and they will need to decide what they will do. Will they fight? Will they flee? See where you are taken in this lovely read
