Meeting pop sensation Jude Santiago might be the best thing for my singing career. And the worst thing for my heart.
Singing is my life, but no agency will sign me because of my size. They want me to lose weight. Dress differently. Be someone other than my size twenty self.
They want me to be like Jude Santiago with his perfectly fitted jeans and tight t-shirts and completely sell out. There’s no way I’m going down that path, and I tell him so, publicly, on my Youtube channel.
But when it gets back to him, he has an agreement: go on tour with him and see for myself that he’s authentic. If I can’t, he won’t make another album.
This will be the sweetest bet I’ve ever won... Or the biggest, most public heartbreak of the century.
disclaimer don’t read this if you don’t know me. i am a curvy girl who can’t date rock stars and every square inch of my curvaceous bod is filled with unjustified rage for these books
***
parts i liked: - tatiana - diego, sort of - tatiana
complaints: - there was NOT ENOUGH TATIANA - there’s this one section where jude mentally praises tatiana for not thinking herself superior on account of being the only skinny one, which made me think, huh?? skinny people do not waste their time thinking this??? - jude is obv bisexual, not that it would be particularly relevant to this story but how dare this not be more important - diego is gonna date a curvy girl??? i thought surfing was his only love…disappointed - the NDA plot line made none sense left beef. my queen des told literally anybody who was in breathing distance about it, but couldn’t tell jude? - natalie made no sense bae, villain without cause or reason. bc literally the only explanation we were given is fatphobia. and come ON what kind of agent would tank her own client’s career (and with that her INCOME), because her client wanted to date a fat girl. like. k. - there was a moment at the end where i thought they’d rlly just end up as friends, and i got excited. says a lot.
- this one is important to me: relationship des can eat shit. jude put his whole judussy into making her feel special. mf showed up with flowers and sent heart shaped balloons and texted her constantly, and what did she do in return?? she was very grateful :3 suck a fat one des, go get your man some flowers. jude my beloved you deserve so much better
aaaaanyways
all hail queen kelsie for making me read upwards of 300 pages about 2 strangers who were somehow already in love with each other from the start. i appreciate that they got together after the 50% mark, i really do, but queen there was no tension. it was a matter of when and not if. and personally i did not give a shit when.
but fr these putas spent no time just being friends, they skipped straight to heart eyes. actually scratch that they went from “watching you on youtube for years and knowing all your songs” to “wow s/he’s as hot in person as i thought” to ??? des turning her head every time jude tried to kiss her ??? to ??? dating ??? fine fair enough but christ i did not care
you may ask yourself why i am giving it two stars. i am doing this for a reason: i have never laughed harder than when i read that section where jude and diego’s names are swapped, and for a brief moment in time des is in love with her own brother
ugh, love you keslie. keep writing you absolute queen. hope both sides of your pillow are cold <3

I love a good story with a rockstar! Especially one filled with body positivity and a dramaaaaaaaa.
Here's a little list of some things I really liked about this book (some of which I will expound upon below): - Des' confidence - concert vibes!! - both main characters were working through things and bettering themselves - Mama Santiago - Jade
Des is an amazing character! She is confident, strong, and an incredible activist. The whole book I was cheering her on while simultaneously trying to figure out how to channel my inner Des to conquer the world. I'll forever be sad that she's not a real person and I will never be able to hear her sing!
I'm sad to report there was a big missed opportunity in this book. There was almost no tension in the relationship between Des and Jude. They were already half in love when the book started and then There was never any question as to whether one of them liked the other one romantically and I think that's a crying shame. I need the tension!
Jude was sweet, but almost overly so. He constantly gave Des compliments and whispered sweet nothings and honestly, I needed more. Also,
Overall, this was a delightful book that, while missing some things, was a great release by Stelting.
Disclaimer: I voluntarily read and reviewed a gifted and advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I liked the story line on this. I actually finished it on the 22nd. I love that this series is very busy positive. Who doesn’t love a rock star love story?
OMG OMG OMG I think this has to be the best book in the series x I love Des & have from the first sentence she was introduced x she is such an inspiration to all Curvy Girls, the confidence she has in showing exactly who she is & always being their for her friends supporting them & making them see their full potential x getting to read about her background just made me love her more & showed how insanely brave she is x Jude I have no words this would be the man for me haha (if he was real obviously) the way he defends Des & truly loves her is a testament to how everyone wishes to be seen in their true love's eyes x when Natalie treats to ruin Jude is Des has a relationship with him & it all coming to a head really hurt me, I was routing for them from page 1 & I know all the stories have had their little spats but for some reason this one just really annoyed me in the worst possible way x I hope the author decides to write about these girls again even if it's just to give the readers a little finish to their future ❤️
Cute YA but would not read again, kind of meh at points. Also, the cover doesn’t really fit the description of either character since both are supposed to be Latina/Latino???
I am curious to see or know or want or something whatever. Lol I’m curious and want to know if Tatiana going to get her own book. I know she’s on of the skinnies I think 🤔.. I’m skinny myself but whatever lol. I want to know if she’ll end up with a guy who’s the opposite of her. Since all the other girls found a guy. Why can’t she. Especially with someone who’s thicker, fat or chubby. 🤷🏽♀️ that’ll be interesting to read because it’s the opposite of the actual females in the series.
Also one thing I can’t stand is someone judging you about your weight size. Them comments those fans made of Des was horrible. In real life people goes through painful stuff like that famous or not. To be honest it doesn’t matter if your slim, skinny, thick, heavy set, fat, chubby. Someone going to talk bad about you. I remembered getting called skinny and saying do I ever eat. It’s the same if your a bigger size “your way to FAT” you need to lose some weight” you eat to much” or you don’t eat that much, trying to pile a lot of food on your plate or just giving you less because your a certain size. It’s crazy I love how Des saw those comments but continued to love herself regardless of her weight size.
The thing is nothing got better it began to get worse with that Natalie chick, the Vanessa chick, and the guy Luke but in the end they all got what they deserved. I just hated that Jude blamed Des a lot when it came to Natalie ruining his career and taking his song he wrote to Des. I was so glad when they FINALLY got rid of knot-neck she got on my last nerve I wanted to punch her throat. And to top that off Jude was so blind by what Natalie did he didn’t see that he was hurting Des and she was hurt by what he said to her and how he treated her.
In the end I was glad in the end he came to his senses because I could’ve smack him if he didn’t get his stuff together.
Also this book was WAAAY better than the last book to me. I don’t know what it was but I’m sorry the last one I was over the reading because it was soo long. But even though this one had seventy chapters plus a epilogue it was a five star read. And I enjoyed it. I hope they next book to this series is one as well.
Even though I don’t know who that one about not the one with her (Des) brother but the two females.
Okay, I LOVED Des and Diego (her brother)! Des's family in general were SO supportive and wonderful 😍 I loved how they let Jude be normal and it made for such a great story....minus Jude's agent. She was TOXIC AF! Body shaming and sabotaging Des from the get go. Des had to go through SO much! Which made it 1000x more horrible, when Jude immaturly turned on her! Honestly, he didn't deserve her after what he did. Yes, she should have told him but HE knew Natalie. HE was in the industry for YEARS! How can he expect her to know how to handle her, how to keep HIM away, with a contract on the line. It was honestly disgusting how he treated her and I don't care what he did after, I hated him. He only stayed with her for show and didnt get his head straight until after his security guard, grandma, and her brother BEGGED him to LISTEN! I hate that she felt it was all on her. Hate that she had to beg through song for another chance. Hate that SHE was being shredded for every. Single. Thing, that happened on this diva's tour. Ugh BUT book still deserves 3 stars for Des and Digeo. Diego made the whole thing better and I cant WAIT to see him star in the next book 😍
You couldn't pick a better curvy girl to represent book 10 then Desirea DeLeon. She and her bigger then life personality are a 10 and this book is a definite five star read. As always with her writing Kelsie includes so much friendship and helping each other learn self love. Which I think is amazing. We also get a few other pretty intense subjects and they are just touched on briefly with no graphic details but handled with care and a very well deserved conclusion. Des is really driving her platform letting women of all ages know that no one has the right to make you feel anything less than perfect the way you are. Hopefully with the help of some great new friends she'll take her own message to heart she's not always as confident as she seems. What I think I loved most about this book is how Jude was more sure of his feelings. Yet Des seemed to be the one rescuing Jude from himself and getting lost in feelings he'd never faced! Lastly I'm so super excited for Diego's book! He was absolutely a superhero in Des and Jude's story! I have voluntarily left this review.
Curvy Girls Can't Date Rock Stars by Kelsie Stelting Book 10 in the Curvy Girls Club series Rating: 4.5/5
Kelsie Stelting does it again! This book was so good! As someone who loves music, I loved seeing the professional side of music tours and management. The characters were amazing and so much fun to get to know. I loved their passion for music and each other. Jude saw Des for who she really was and Des really understood Jude. The issues they had to deal with were very real and relatable.
As someone who loves this series, I highly recommend all of the books and this new one does not disappoint. The author continues to weave inspirational and empowering stories for teenagers (and adults) that you won't want to miss!
PG-13.
My thanks to the author and publisher for providing me with an ARC of the book. All opinions expressed here are entirely my own. No positive review was expected and no compensation received.
3.5 Stars There were some parts of this book that I absolutely ADORED. The scene from the first night of the tour was one of the best scenes of Kelsie’s that I’ve ever read (and I’ve read all but 5 of her books). I got chills and I felt like I was there. It was incredible storytelling.
Other parts of the story required me to suspend too much disbelief to really connect with the story like I would have liked to.
Des’ growth at the end of the book was AWESOME. She confronted her mistakes, owned them, and took on the uncomfortable task of making things right. Considering the air about her from the other CG2.0 books, I expected her confidence to bleed into cocky arrogance, but I was pleasantly surprised by her humility. Her growth arc has been one of the best that I’ve seen in the CGC and I loved it!
The theme of sex positivity was prominent throughout this book. I guess I should note that I’m not keen on this particular movement, which could also play into why I didn’t connect with this installation of the Curvy Girl Club as much as others. While I’m totally here for calling out the misogyny of dual standards for men and women when it comes to sex, I’m not here for the promotion of “casual sex.” This played into my overall feelings from this book, so if that’s your thing, you probably will enjoy this read even more!
Thankful for Kelsie for providing me with ARC. All thoughts and opinions are my own and no positive review was expected.
Curvy girls can’t date rock stars is Des’s and Jude’s story but Diego is definitely a main character as well. It all starts with a meeting between Des and Natalie(Jude’s agent). She’s a terrible person and definitely the villain in this story. She never gets better… Thankfully Des has a huge family and a great support system. Jude unfortunately lost his mom before he was 1 but still has his dad and awesome grandma. I loved how this story centered around a tour and getting to see what life is like on the road. Diego was an awesome addition to this story and I’m glad he went on the tour for his sister/with his sister. I wish Des had been honest with Jude though since she pretty much told everyone else about the NDA that she had to sign. I loved the emotion in this story though and how the author didn’t hesitate to show how hard men can feel; That it’s okay for men to cry and open up about their feelings as well as body positivity and sexual empowerment.
Just when I thought I couldn’t like a series more Kelsie had to go and write this book.
This book follows the story of Des a rising to fame singer and a famous teen rock star Jude.
When Des is turned down from Jude’s record label due to her size not meeting the image, she decided to make a video to out them. As damage control Jude decides to bring her on his tour, lo and behold to des he was already her fan and had a thing for her.
Des is forced into a NDA which states they can’t date or his career will be jeprodised but one thing led to another and the inevitable happened.
This book has so many twists and turns, and definitely keeps you engaged. I really enjoyed this book and it’s definitely been my favourite book from this series so far. Definitely give this book a read.
✨ The Title/Cover Draw: I have read all of Kelsie’s previous books in the series and am so excited to be reading and reviewing #10! Thank you Kelsie for continuing to allow me to review these books.
💜 What I liked: Another solid book about girls who are overlooked because of how they look. Jude invites Desi to sing on his tour after she was snubbed by his publicist. But there are sneaky people trying to destroy Desi before she even starts to show what she can do. I loved the depth of these characters and how they realize their dreams. This book reminds me a lot of the movie Music and Lyrics.
😱 What I didn’t like: I always get a little frustrated by the “lack of communication” trope. That does happen in this book, but the twist on it is unique and works out well to be a different take.
🚦 My face at the end: 🤗
💭 4 Reasons to Read: 1. Pizza Rolls 2. Tour Bus 3. Acceptance 4. Love Songs
🕧 Mini-Summary: Desi wants to be a singer. Will her dreams come true when Jude invites her to open his tour?
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

When I started out this series, there was a sense of reality to it. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for body positivity and the whole cheery feeling gave me a very warm feeling. However as this concept progressed, the books started feeling unrealistic in terms of plot, progress of the story and characters.
What I liked: -Des' fiery personality at the start of the story. I thought that it would be a story with crackling attraction but it wasn't so. -The interaction between the 2.0 group -Diego
What I didn't like: -Jude. Eh...he was too unrealistic. -The whole 'I will destroy you because you are fat' - Revenge by Natalie was just OTT.
I need to however acknowledge the writer for including some truly magnificent romantic lines. They really added some richness to the book. I give this attempt 2 stars.
This was a fairly standard, stereotypical new adult romance that overall was a cute and fun read. I have no idea how accurate it is as far as what happens backstage and off-stage for a professional musician but it sounded logical enough to me that if there are any harsh errors I didn't notice them.
I really enjoyed the body positivity and fat-shaming messages. The FMC is a curvy plus size and is extremely comfortable in her own skin and won't put up with anyone that tells her she should be ashamed of how she looks. However, the book also gives the implication that the FMC is promiscuous as she enjoys dating and doesn't want to be involved in a relationship. The author neither confirms nor denies the accusations her character faces, which I found annoying because the FMC is only 18 years old.
Des is the most confident of the 5 grils in the CGC 2.0, and her only dream is to be a super star. After a meeting with an agent went wrong, she filmed a video for her YouTube channel complaining about how the industry of music is messed up, but she never imagined that the Super Star of the moment Jude Santiago saw the video and instead of ignoring her, he invite her to his next Tour, ("Summer of Santiago") Des never imagined that her life was about to change, the moment she stepped in to the tour bus. Not only she have the opportunity to sing in front of thousands of people but she found the love of her life. As a singer (amateur) is my dream to be discovered, so I imagine myself singing in all the places where Des was singing. I LOVE IT!
Wow what a rollercoaster ride for sure!!!!! This storyline was just incredible. Jude and Des was a beautiful couple. I love the that fact Jude stood up for Des so many times. Even though Des can stand on her own two feet she needed Jude to stand up for her to get that love back. Des grew into a beautiful woman in this book. She was always a beautiful woman but she needed to let go of her past and Jude standing up for her made her realize that she was protecting her self from the past. When she let go from that she was even more beautiful then before. I know this doesn't make sense but to me it does. Jude was so strong but he also to needed to let go of his past to become even stronger. They relationship with always be with me for the rest of my life. I can't wait to read more....

KELSIE STELTING WE HAVE BEEF!!!! Not really, but I’m still angry!!!! How are you gonna do me like this, queen??? I’m talking EMOTIONAL ROLLERCOASTER!!! I am ANGRY!!! SEETHING. I wanted to give this 3 stars because this book made me so mad, but it is literally such a slay it had to be 4 stars!!!!
Des and Jude are como se dice *chef’s kiss* I can not believe I’m almost done with series. It’s seems like just yesterday I was reading the first one during my friend’s wedding LOL but I loved this book SO much!!! It was very sweet to me literally until it wasn’t. I am SO mad about how Jude reacted to Des toward the end of the book…I think he was being a baby tbh but you know ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ it is what it is.
I really liked that Des was a curvy girl and not a stick figure that is in every other book. She grew so much as the book went on and it was great.
Why I gave it 3 stars? Well I get why Jude felt betrayed but how he chose to act after was not ok. He knew her past and yes he did stick up for her and so on. BUT he didn't trust her and just threw her away without looking at her side. Then to get back at her or whatever he brought the total opposite of her on stage in front of everyone to sing to. He wasn't the only victim. In the end yeah he forgave her and was in love but it would have been GREAT if he would have apologized for the things he did and how he handled it.

I think this may be my new favourite of the Curvy Girl series. I've loved Des since day one and enjoyed getting to know her family a little better in this story. I loved that we got to know a lot of background details in Jude's portion of the story as well. I am always a sucker for a multi-viewpoint book. Seeing these two share their versions of the struggles of the tour, friendship, & relationship was fantastic. However, I think my favourite part of the whole book was Mama Santiago. I would love to hear more about her story. For now I will just remain excited to see more from Diego in the next book.
One of my favorite things about this entire series is the fact that it represents real problems girls go through.⠀Yeah, the heroines might be "quirky" or whatever. But, they are awesome.
This book is amazing.⠀I loved our leading characters. They are awesome and have sizzling chemistry.⠀Our swoony rockstar lead is so sweet.⠀He really cares for his girl. He is accepting and that is wonderful.
The romance was awesome.⠀It is real and raw.⠀I love how insecurity can play a role in a relationship and how sometimes someone believing you can be a big boost. Confidence is big and I love it.
I can't wait to read the next book in the series. I highly recommend it.
Every curvy girl book from kelsie gets better and better. I have fallen in love with all the characters in both curvy girl clubs. It’s so rare to find a story let alone a whole series on plus size women. I love how all the girls who come from different backgrounds come together and how they overcome all that the world puts against them. See myself fully in each girl is something I’ve never experienced before when reading. Showing that plus size women deserve love just as much as the world’s standard of normal size women. I love love love des’s story❤️ #paitientlywaitingformyman😂
I have loved every one of Kelsie's books. I can relate to her books more then any other author I have read. This book is no different. I absolutely loved this book! Des and Jude were made for each other. Its so heartbreaking when the world gets in the way of two people loving each other. It happens more than we think. But, with a clear mind and strong will love will conquer all. This story has so many feeling written into it. Just like all of her other books. I sincerely hope you download your copy today and enjoy it as much as I did. Happy reading.
“I hoped bigger girls like me would keep playing big, putting their faces out there, and showing everyone (including la bruja) that we belonged in the spotlight if that’s where we wanted to be.”
“So overwhelmed by it all, I looked at Jude, mouthing, “Is this my life?” He smiled in return and said, “It’s ours.””
Wow! Des and Jude were great! I have read all the other Curvy Girl and the 2.0 Club. I have fallen in love with every girl and her story. The strength and growth has been amazing to read. Honestly Des and Jude were my favorites. Des following her dreams and becoming the person she was meant to be was amazing to read! Jude is adorable with his fierce dedication! 100% recommend!!
I have read every single book in this series. I have loved them all, some more than others... But this one with Jude and Red really got me. I loved that sex and being female was covered in a tasteful, clean way... The subject of sex wasn't so obvious in previous books this story is more than sex though, it really is up lifting and shines a very light shine on topics young girls can experience.
You won't be disappointed and I am counting down the days for Diego story!
Des confidence is truly inspiring for a lot of girls especially when she lifts her friends from doubting themselves for not being able to have a good looking guy. I'm glad the girls this time around are helping her see what a great person she is no matter what size she is and the music industry should know better than treat people like that just because of their size. And Jude making a video about inviting Des to perform in his tour before him it was icing on the cake even if the manager didn't like it whatsoever. I'm glad that Des got to show her true talent and show everyone that curves and looks don't matter in the music industry.
I was VERY blessed to receive an ARC copy of this book and I LOVED IT!! I love how each book in this series is a completely different personality of young lady, but still have the bond and strength of their Curvy Girl Club to have their back. I truly wish I had this when I was younger and am truly moved by these books. Don’t want to give to much away, but to read about Des finally getting a real stage was WONDERFUL. Couldn’t put this book down and can’t wait for the next in the series.
I have been waiting since Cori’s book tor Des’s story so of course I started it as soon as it released. I enjoyed reading about Des’s journey to fame and getting to know Jude. I absolutely loved him. Their love story was sweet, but I felt like something was missing. I felt like Jude was more invested in the relationship but on the other hand was a little single-minded when the whole Natalie thing came out. Overall, a wonderful read and I cannot wait for Curvy Girls 3.0.
