Six years ago, my world was ripped from under me, and I was taken to Cardinal Three. A place where pain has been my endless companion.

Witches, demons, shifters and humans all live under one rule.

What he says goes.

So, trying to get the hell out of here hasn’t been easy.

No one leaves without his permission.

In fact, no one leaves at all...That is, alive.

But I have a pl

Sutch a pretty cover, sutch a trashy book.

Look, the base plot idea was decent. The writing....sloppy at best, infantile at worst. No world building, no character introduction and individuality, relationships are not built, but presented on skin deep level. I don't know, if any of book writing corner stones was done well. It would have been decent as the first draft that author should have worked on for a long time, building on the story, developing characters, slowly revealing the plot, leading

Great Start to the series!!

Can I just start off by admiring the front cover? It looks absolutely beautiful.
I really enjoyed this book, Kiarra is a FMC that I admired, especially after everything she has been through. Kai was hands down my favourite out of all the guys.
I'm looking forward to the rest of this series, especially after that last chapter. I honestly did not see that last betrayal happening.

Did I add this for the cover? Yes.
Did I come back for this cover? Also yes.

LISTEN tell me this isn't a cover for a fantasy series with a morally grey H that our FMC falls for? That name? That cover? He would have dark magic and she would have light magic but by the end we would realize that she is the black snake and he is her light and they would join forces to save the world...just tell me that isn't this cover???? I will be here waiting...

So Rumer is a new author to me and colour me surpris

DNF at 69%. Just wasn’t for me personally. I liked the concept, the reverse harem aspect and the idea of all the creatures, but it fell flat for me unfortunately. It didn’t keep me hooked like it had in the beginning.

The world building was minuscule. There wasn’t much connection between all the characters that I felt as a reader and I wish this was more detailed on the world and systems and longer in that aspect. Also, it would have been great to see some back story of why the villain is the wa

I wasn't a fan of this, but I really just wanted something to read while I wait for a few other books to come out, and this served that purpose well enough. Great cover though.

This book definitely needed editing and seemed to use British as spelling instead of US spelling even though it was set in New York, where the MC had apparently lived her whole life.

The MC and her harem spent barely any honest time together, so their entire connection seemed to rely on bonding that took place "offscreen"

Once I started, I did not put this book down.
I was immediately invested!

I wasn’t even mad there wasn’t spice because the tension and those kisses were EVERYTHING!

Okay so i will first off say that i got really excited for this debut book when i read the synopsis. The cover is amazing, love it! So i have been excited to read it, i do have a thing for well written abused heroins, i love the path they go, the growth they do. All the emotions. To go from the bottom to the top, hell yeah. And we got the 5 childhood friends, interesting concept. Nothing new but i am down for that all day everyday.
But i did not like this as much as i had wanted to, sadly. It fe

Nonsensical at its finest

This book had such great potential. The female mc has the ability to heal herself despite being on the verge of death. Cool, we get it. We don’t need 20 million graphic details about the millions of times she’s tortured. She meets her fated mates. All hot (obviously), all possessive alpha males (obviously), and all powerful creatures (obviously). Turns out they’re her childhood friends (shocker). She won’t tel them about all the things done to her or to people in the ci

Too extreme. Extreme abuse & torture. Extreme over dramatic reactions & stubborn nonsensical characters. She has an incredible ability used against her by evil people. Runs into beloved old friends but refused to admit her abuse, mainly because they are bitter about a girl child 'leaving' them without a trace. Not that adults responsible & in control are to blame- the preteen girl. Though they once knew her as a wonderful person, they easily jump to conclusions & brand her a materialistic B.

The writing was sloppy all around. There was no real world building, other than a quick mention of the division of the city. Nothing else was laid out. There was no real character development, just a couple of info dumps. There was no real relationship building either, just a description of how they were as children and then the whole mates thing. There were also issues with misused homonyms and apostrophes. All in all, this felt like the outline of a first draft, not a completed book.

When I came across this book, I was intrigued, so much, that I bought it immediately, stopped reading the series I was currently reading, ignored my partner for half a day, and curled up in my bed with tea to read it.

Did it live up to my expectations? Kinda, I guess. Depends, I was promised 5 mates, so naturally, my RH brain, was like ohhh... I get action with 5 dicks, did I get it? Nope... what did I get?

I got over the top amount of abuse, mental and physical, a completely useless (okay not f
Kiarra has been tortured for 6 years since her mother was killed. Essentially caged to the hotel where her stepfather rules the city from, she has little hope. When her stepfather forces her together with 5 alphas, she shocked to find they are her childhood friends. The guys assume she abandoned them and is loving the good life. I kind of wanted to slap them a couple times, especially a certain dragon. Kiarra is smart and fierce. I’m also intrigued by Jasmyn and Kane - I hope we see more of them ...more

This one was good. A weird supernatural world where the heroine doesn't realise the full extent of her powers (she can heal herself, thereby preventing herself from dying) and shifter heroes who were her best friends growing up. She's been on lockdown for 5 years, by her stepfather who's the scariest mofo in their world. And he's also physically and emotionally damaging her for unknown reasons along with trying to find a potion that will stop her from healing herself when she's harmed. I'm just ...more

It started off really well, I was hoping the interactions between Kiarra and the boys would happen a little more but it kinda fell a bit meh. It ended on a cliffy too, which is frustrating. There is this whole thing of “what is Kiarra?” Is she a witch, a demon, a siren? What is she? I am hoping we’ll find out in the next book otherwise I’ll be sooo annoyed!

Riley’s Reading Adventures
fast paced, easy read, lots of future potential

I read this book in two hours. It was quick and easy.

You jump right into the story. Our heroine has the ability to heal herself. She’s been broken beyond repair but is still kicking. The story moves so fast that you don’t really get to know her personality. She’s definitely selfless, defiant, and a bit sassy but she’s broken. She kind of has a resigned to my fate mentality at some points of the book even though she is working on an escape. I do li

Awesome cover. Superb cover. Thats about it. The writing gets weird at times. We don't really get much world building or explanation. There is a lot of torture from the very beginning of the book with fairly little reasoning behind it. The fmc wasn't very likable to me. I didn't care much for the guys either and their weird relationships. The characters do things that just don't make sense like making out at the worst times. It just didn't make sense. I won't be continuing with this series ...more

wishing for more!

I’m usually one to skip the trigger warning because I don’t really have any. I saw a few people complain about how hard it was to read because of how bloody it is or how abusive the story is. So, I only wish the trigger warning was standing out more and that people actually read it. Don’t miss out on a great read because someone skipped the warnings.

This was an outstanding book that I did not want to stop reading. Right now I’m wishing that the rest of the series is out, becau

Is this YA?

This book started out great. Its just good though. The further in I read,, the more 'childlike' it becomes. The storyline is solid and interesting but the romance and writing about it is immature. It feels like a 13 year olds fantasy/day dream. The dialog is so cringy. This book is good but could have been great.
The miscommunication trope is beaten to death in the book. Its blindingly obvious right away what is going on with the characters. The 'secret' of it gets annoying pretty qu

Great start to new series!

This baby author brought us an RH with tons of potential!

I fell for Kiarra HARD! While she was naive she had an inner strength that rivaled the strongest. I can’t wait to see her grow into a fierce woman! Our girl suffers tremendously. It’s hard to read some of it so make sure you know your triggers. This was the first RH I gave five stars to without there being any sex involved. But don’t let that steer you away! There is a high heated anticipation that I have no doubt

Death is no more an escape than it is a curse.

What an interesting, captivating and unique twist on fantasy / paranormal romance.

I couldn’t put this book down, I read it in less than 24 hours and I absolutely loved it.

This was Rumers debut book and it was such an interesting take on the modern world with all sorts of magical creatures in the mix.

The tension build up in this book is going to be so worth it when Kiarra and her fated mates finally come together. Whew an RH with 5 guys? Wooooeeee

I don’t think I can clearly state how much I loved this book. It’s a slow burn fantasy reverse harem and boy did it burn.

Kiarra has been held prisoner for the past 6 years by her stepfather. She’s been trying to find a way out and finally has a plan in place…until she comes face to face with her 5 best friends from her past and it turns out they’re her mates. She can’t let them know what her life’s been like or how tortured she is for their safety. I absolutely loved her character. She keeps ho

Ignore the poor reviews read the book!

I never give reviews but having read the poor reviews on here I had to make a statement . I really don't understand why this book was getting poor reviews. This book is excellent.
I wouldn't even consider this a bully Romance it has upset males over things that happened in the past that are blinded by pain and because men are douche canoes happened to verbally take it out on a female that they extremely care about. However you can tell that these individuals
